Hi all,

I'm jumping the gun a little with this as I'm pregnant and found out earlier than a missed period (it's 3 days away)

I had a miscarriage at the start of February so I'm terrified, but trying to be optimistic all will be okay. My lines are getting darker, which they didn't do last time.

Anyone else due in December?

@Mimba1 thankyou for warm welcome and you too!

Beccarans89 · 02/04/2020 13:16

Can I ask a question that's bugging me! When you work out how many days you are...how is it done?? For example, I'm 6 weeks on Saturday...one of my apps says I'm 5+5 and the other says 5+6. As one app will say that Saturday is 6+1 whereas the other app says Saturday is just week 6 and Sunday is 6+1

Hope that makes sense, it's annoying me! Would tomorrow be 5+6 or 5+7?

Just annoying me that my apps say different lol x

Beccarans89 · 02/04/2020 13:17

@Dee96 congratulations lovely! Sorry to hear it's tricky, hope you're ok xx

Mimba1 · 02/04/2020 13:32

@beccarans89 I don't know the official answer but it doesn't make sense to me to have 5 weeks + 7 days, that's just 6 weeks surely! I'd like to know the answer tho - I know it's not important as dates are often out but it will bug me as well!

@dee96 look after yourself and ask for help if you need it. I wish I was your age! I'm having a "geriatric pregnancy". Every bit of information you read is doom and gloom at my age!

LBJ2410 · 02/04/2020 13:39

@Beccarans89 I would say that today you are 5 + 5, tomorrow 5 + 6, Saturday 6 (+0 effectively).

On mine whatever day was the first day of your last period is the day that it rolls over to the new week. Does that make sense?!

Beccarans89 · 02/04/2020 13:39

@Mimba1 I agree! 😄 It has been bugging me! I think Saturday would be 6 weeks and Sunday 6+1 etc! That's what I'm going to go with I think haha!

Beccarans89 · 02/04/2020 13:41

@LBJ2410 totally agree and that's what I'd been going with! It just threw me when one app said today was 5+6 and tomorrow would be 5+7 as that didn't make sense! Thank you! ☺️

LBJ2410 · 02/04/2020 13:45

@Beccarans89 yes that would do my head in too 🙈 nearly at the 6 week mark is great.. It feels like each day that passes is a little accomplishment!

Lemondropsandgumdrops · 02/04/2020 13:53

@Dee96 are you safe where you are? When you say he didn’t react well last time and it was horrible, what exactly does this mean? I’m sorry to be so prying and please feel free to respond, ignore me, or PM if you’d prefer but I wanted to make sure you’re safe.

For what it’s worth, I was 24 when I fell with my first and I’m 26 now. You’re age isn’t an issue :)

Lemondropsandgumdrops · 02/04/2020 13:53

Clemmie83 · 02/04/2020 13:56

Just booked a private scan for the 19th when I'll be almost 8 weeks, feels good to have it in place as a closer milestone than the 12 week point!

jtc19 · 02/04/2020 15:03

@mimba1 Thank you for the words of wisdom, I will do my best not to stress it and focus on going forward! X

AnnieCa34 · 02/04/2020 15:23

@Mimba1 I wake up feeling fine and then feel worse as the day goes on! So not just you! Feeling crappy right now.
Definitely getting less cramps than I was which I assume is good. Headache are bad though and the reflux is horrendous! 2 weeks and 2 days until my early scan, seems she’s away and it’s going so slow as someone above said! I hope it speeds up! With everything going on and being stuck at home I think it will continue to go slow though!

Emerald89 · 02/04/2020 15:30

@Beccarans89 which apps are you using? I have Flo and Pregnancy+. Flo counts gestation inaccurately as it is one day ahead whereas Pregnancy+ is accurate.
I goes X week + Y days, Y is 0-6.

So you are right, you can't have 5+7, as that would be 6+0!

GreenerGreen · 02/04/2020 16:08

@Dee96 hope you're okay. I wonder if it's helpful to write down how you're feeling and that you want to continue with the pregnancy, that way you can be clear about what you're trying to say. Then, you can either share those thoughts with your OH's family or even give them a letter, I know it sounds dramatic but can give you some clarity in this somewhat confusing time.

Does anyone have thoughts on when to start buying baby items? After 12 weeks? God knows where I'm going to fit all the stuff living in a 2 up 2 down!
yes I'm using flo and pregnancy+ and they ahve 4 days apart?! I know it's only a few days but every day counts know what I mean?!

Beccarans89 · 02/04/2020 16:15

@greenergreen @emerald89 I know, the apps can be so confusing! The main two I use are Pregnancy+ and Ovia Pregnancy which I really like, however I also have Baby Centre which is the one that says 5+7 for tomorrow!

Yes that does seem odd that Flo is so out, every day definitely does count!

@greenergreen I have no idea! 🙈 I've been looking at loads online but haven't been brave enough to buy anything yet and might leave it a few more weeks but it is tempting!

marlibs3 · 02/04/2020 16:15

@GreenerGreen thank you, I was suddenly really worried I'd offended everyone!

Yeah, it's so rough not to buy anything yet!! We've decided to move now to a 2bed and when I've got a room for the baby I don't know how I'll be able to stop myself! (We planned to buy but with how things are right now we don't want to make big commitments in a rush.).

I think we'll start putting money aside this month and after 12 weeks start on some of the purchases - I'd rather do them slowly over time than all at once so I can be excited about each thing! (though I already have an amazon baby list bc I was bored one evening, whooooops)...

Beccarans89 · 02/04/2020 16:16

@marlibs3 haha I've started an Amazon list too! 😂

marlibs3 · 02/04/2020 16:18

@Beccarans89 5+7?? how confusing! Is that 5 weeks and 6 days or 6 weeks and no days?

GreenerGreen · 02/04/2020 16:19

I've started a pinterest board, although my room would never look that any of the photos! Just something to keep my mind occupied.
I'll probably wait until 12 weeks too and start buying things slowly, but also hope to get secondhand! Lots of my friends who are around 5/6 years older have had children so that's handy! xx

marlibs3 · 02/04/2020 16:20

@Beccarans89 hahahaha just too tempting... I keep telling myself it's so I can budget but really I just want to look at prams for hourssss :P

@GreenerGreen ooooh pinterest board sounds good! I've never used it but it sounds like the perfect tool for the job

Mimba1 · 02/04/2020 16:50

@greenergreen personally I'm going to wait until I've seen a heartbeat before I buy anything. Even finding NHS paperwork in a drawer was painful after our MC. I can't imagine what it would be like if I'd bought baby stuff. It's totally right to be positive - the odds are really good - and it's natural to dream but I'm going to be a little cautious and there is plenty of time after all! I waited 30 months to conceive the first time, I can wait a few weeks to start shopping!

We were going to move as well but we've taken our house off the market for now. We've got enough space (just) so planning to give it 6-12 months and see what happens to house prices, our work etc. Everything's up in the air at the minute!

aitch07 · 02/04/2020 17:01

@greenergreen I'm definitely too scared to buy anything yet. Wish I could get excited but after a previous MC it's hard not to expect the worse! Be so nice to be able to relax a bit and enjoy it x

Colouringinbook · 02/04/2020 17:16

@Mimba1
With my first baby I was sick at anytime of the day, and not every day either. I was regularly sick halfway through my evening meal, which was a little bit unfair!

Re drs - here you just call the maternity hospital to arrange your appointments so maybe worth checking online before trying GPs.

RunnerGirl123 · 02/04/2020 18:11

Hi ladies, I'd like to join. Congratulations to you all.
I'm 5 weeks today based on LMP but going by my cycle length, my EDD is December 5th!
I've previously had 2 early MC's in 2018, so a little anxious, but trying to remember there's nothing I can do to stop an MC and if we are unlucky again we'll be referred for further testing. Hopefully it won't come to that and we'll have a healthy pregnancy this time!
I rang the docs straight away on Tuesday as I needed to be prescribed medication to support the pregnancy, and the midwifery team called today to tell me my booking appointment will be done over the phone on April 24th.and then I'll have my scan and bloods taken on the same day around 12 weeks. Not sure if I'll get a date for that in the post or if I'll find out during my booking appointment.
No real symptoms here, just sore and tender boobs. But in my previous pregnancies symptoms didn't kick in till around 7 weeks, so I'm sure they'll come round soon.
