Hi all,

I'm jumping the gun a little with this as I'm pregnant and found out earlier than a missed period (it's 3 days away)

I had a miscarriage at the start of February so I'm terrified, but trying to be optimistic all will be okay. My lines are getting darker, which they didn't do last time.

Anyone else due in December?

@lionsmum thank you so much.. congrats to you too ☺️ it's all very exciting but scary!

MrsC2018 · 31/03/2020 21:57

@Lemondropsandgumdrops I'm 4+6 and called them today. Told me that they'll call me back next week to do the booking in apt over the phone. System is the same here now where you book in directly with the midwives. They only have my name and number too, but told me to ring back if I don't get a call.

@AnnieCa34 and @lionsmum I've got mine booked for 20th when I'll be 7+5, I'm already terrified!

@LBJ2410 🙌 also IVF veteran, sooooo prefer a dildo cam as you don't have a full bladder, you deffo get used to the indignity!

LBJ2410 · 31/03/2020 22:25

@MrsC2018 dildo cam.. brilliant 😂 you're right.. all dignity goes out the window! Getting us prepared at least!

I've been told to only contact a midwife after I've had my 7 week scan and all is okay.. but I guess thats because I'm still under the care of the clinic for now ?

MrsC2018 · 31/03/2020 22:35

@LBJ2410 my IVF clinic told me to book in with the midwives last week but I was too scared to until today. I agree with yours, I don't want to have to ring and cancel anything if the viability scan is bad news on the 20th 😔

Always call it a dildo cam, mainly cause my husband is a bit of a prude in public and he's mortified when I say that 🙈 forgotten what it's really called now!

aitch07 · 01/04/2020 10:01

My lovely Doctor who is in her 70s is doing scans for existing emergency patients. She's going to come to the hospital to see me when I'm 6 weeks, so week after next I think. I'm lucky enough to have private healthcare but did not expect this in the current environment and given her age. She was so lovely through my miscarriage last year and I'm so glad I get to see her this time. I'm bloated and wake up completely drenched in sweat. That seems to be it for symptoms. So anxious the entire time and spend half the day checking for blood!

Trufflepigglet · 01/04/2020 10:23

Just called my GP to book in with midwife, receptionist took a few details and said they'd pass them on and they will call me but she doesn't know how long they take to ring. Usefull...

ChampooPapi · 01/04/2020 10:34

@Trufflepigglet yes, I think unless your private don't expect to see any human until the 12 week mark ☹️

ChampooPapi · 01/04/2020 10:35

My booking in is on the phone and no notes until the 12 week scan, just got to keep the positive faith going ladies 🙌

Trufflepigglet · 01/04/2020 10:38

@ChampooPapi if thats the case we just have to accept it, theres nothing we can do is there. Just wish the receptionist had a vauge idea as to when the midwife would call to discuss that with me. Even if its two/three weeks, i'd rather know so I know when to call to make sure i've not been forgotten about!

Clemmie83 · 01/04/2020 10:42

I feel very behind on getting the appointments in! In my area at the moment you need to complete a self referral form for the midwife however you can't do that until 6 weeks...patiently waiting until Monday! Still thinking I might book in an early scan for 8 weeks. I'm the same as a lot of you and constantly checking for blood...I'm glad I'm not alone! 🙈

Whiffle77 · 01/04/2020 10:46

I'm also constantly checking, going to the loo constantly and panicking every time. I did it before my MC but even worse now!
I haven't even rung the doctors yet, they dont make booking in appointments until aft 8 weeks so I will ring once I get to 6 to see if I can make an appointment. I would assume like the rest of you it is over the phone though - hard when it's your first one. But as with everything - could be a lot worse. I dont know if my EPU will give me an early scan either as all private places have shut down, something to ask about

CrazyCatLady2788 · 01/04/2020 10:55

I rang my GP yesterday but they said due to them being in lockdown I'd have to ring the community midwife number myself which they gave to me. I rang and they booked my first appointment in for me over the phone there and then. So I'm going to my nearest clinic on 14th April when I'm 7 weeks. I was quite surprised really. It's a bit mad how everywhere is doing it differently.

GingerScallop · 01/04/2020 11:10

I tested positive (it was a surprise but a happy one) just over a week ago. I am super anxious because I had 2 miscarriages before my first who is now 21 months. With the toddler, the symptoms started then went into overdrive for weeks. With the last few, there were hardly symptoms (just bad stinky farts with the first). With my current pregnancy, I had some symptoms but they have become less each day so I am super anxious. I am not sure how far along but I suspect 4-5 weeks. I keep wondering whether I should POAS again but am too scared. Prayers for a sticky pls

Mrsjones30 · 01/04/2020 11:16

Hey ladies !
I got my BFP on a early Frer last week!
Officially 4 weeks today
Due 9th December 2020
So excited 😆

Figey · 01/04/2020 11:27

Congratulations @Mrsjones30 🎉

Woke up feeling fat today. I was debating whether it was fat or bloat and I’ve decided it’s fat. Would love to think it’s an early bump but at 5 weeks it doesn’t seem likely.

I’m eating well and trying to exercise at home, but for me it’s no substitute for a gym 🤦‍♀️

AnnieCa34 · 01/04/2020 11:42

@lionsmum that’s exciting! Yeh it’s my first so it’s all new and scary! Is this your second?

@mrsc2018 ah similar time to mine and lionsmum then!

@Trufflepigglet that’s what happened to
me. It took them about 4 days to call then I went in last weekend to have bloods and said they would do my booking in over the phone. However I got there and they discovered I didn’t have a hospital number so they couldn’t do my bloods! So now going back the 25th and they will do it all while I am there! They have sent a date for my 12 weeks scan but not got the letter yet.

Same as a lot of you say above constantly checking and worrying about bleeding. Going to toilet way more than I should. It’s scary!

Mrsjones30 · 01/04/2020 12:26

@Figey I just
Have so much gas!!! Lol
I think that is why I look like I have a little bump!!😂😂
Super bloatEd!!

Trufflepigglet · 01/04/2020 12:43

Thanks @AnnieCa34, 4 days is actually way earlier than I expected although I assume all trusts are doing it differently.

Peaches2020 · 01/04/2020 12:46

Congratulations @Mrsjones30!

GP has also referred me to the midwifery hub who have said I won’t get an appt til 7-8wks.

GP also recommended a brilliant site patient.info where the NHS have uploaded all maternity leaflets and info etc which is really helpful. He particularly recommended the diet & lifestyle during pregnancy leaflet which is great.

Symptoms wise I still just have enlarged and sore boobs but waiting for the rest to kick in!

Mrsjones30 · 01/04/2020 13:03

@Peaches2020 how many weeks are you?
I've been referred to community midwives too!
Got my app on 21/04
But my husband is not allowed to come with which is a shame but hey ho it's life and I refuse to let all this ruin something I wanted for a long time.

Booked a cheeky private scan at 7 weeks which we can go to together which is nice 😊

Lemondropsandgumdrops · 01/04/2020 13:37

I got a letter through the post today from the hospital with details of my scan, so seems it is all okay and midwife has sorted it as promised! 7th May. I had an early private scan at 7 weeks with my last but not sure we’ll bother this time.

My community midwife has tested positive for this virus herself so is off currently, but I wonder if it’ll make a difference once my booking appt comes round and whether she’ll just do it as a home visit as she’ll be immune by then? Not really sure.

My boss knows as I’m a key worker and my role involves lots of home visits, which I obviously can’t do now. Not sure how that’ll be explained my colleagues, I don’t really want to share it at 4 weeks pregnant but think they’ll probably all guess given the circumstances. So WFH for the foreseeable now.

I have pregnacare coming via amazon today. For anyone else who this isn’t their first, do you suddenly start remembering things you did with your first and feeling bad for forgetting?! I was so good first time round, cut out all caffeine, ate so well, vitamins from before conception. Halfway through drinking a can of coke last night I remember I had no vitamins yet, and I was drinking coke. Not the crime of the century but because this baby was a bit of a surprise I keep forgetting all the things I’m ‘supposed’ to do. Now the shock has settled I’m in starting to feel much more excited though :)

littletandme · 01/04/2020 13:37

Congrats @Mrsjones30 we are due date buddies! Although by LMP I'll be a day later even though I know I ovulated a day early/have a 27 day cycle.

I'm leaning towards booking an early scan for Easter Sunday even though DH is reluctant due to having to leave the house unnecessarily!

Mrsjones30 · 01/04/2020 14:39

@littletandme I have a shorter cycle too! How funny! I ovulated at cycle day 11
And I think we conceived the 15th March which was my wedding night!
😅😅😅

Mimba1 · 01/04/2020 14:40

@GreenerGreen thanks for checking in! Still OK so far Smile. Had a bit of a wobble yesterday because my boobs were back to normal size first thing but I've got full on melons again now so fingers crossed! Starting to feel really sick but I don't know if that's just the vitamins. It took me weeks after my MC to realise that I hadn't actually had morning sickness and I just get sick from folic acid!

Mimba1 · 01/04/2020 15:04

@GreenerGreen I was going to add also check your annual leave policy. Where I work it runs Jan - Dec so if I don't take any leave this year I can roll it all into next and have this year and next year's leave to use on full pay. That wil really make a difference at the end. They usually have a "use it or lose it " policy but that doesn't apply if you're on mat leave. I might just be lucky but worth checking!
