6 weeks today! Grin

MoreGinPlease2020 · 30/03/2020 10:58

My hospital have just confirmed that unless things change by then, my partner won't be able to come to the 12 week scan. We had an early scan last week which he was there for, but would anyone consider booking a further private scan around 12 weeks so he can see the baby? Seems a shame to have to do so, but I'm so sad that he probably won't be there, as it's both of our first and I never got that far in my last pregnancy.

BeMorePacific · 30/03/2020 10:59

@burntpinky hahah love it.. delicious speech & Lang therapist Wink

canueve · 30/03/2020 11:11

@burntpinky I am 100% eating baked potato today, I bought potatoes as someone else mentioned it on here and after your message, I am copying your husband's recipe ;)

So far my 1st midwife appt is still happening this Friday at the GP, they mentioned they are avoiding having people in, in order to make it a safe place for pregnant women as well.

canueve · 30/03/2020 11:12

I am new to mumsnet but from what I noticed on the 1st thread, it's only allowed 1,000 messages, is that correct?

So it means we need to have a 3rd one soon?

Cavemountain · 30/03/2020 11:26

@MoreGinPlease2020 that would be a shame to have to go privately, its expensive enough! Locally here they seem to allow one person to go with you, however they are moving the scanning machines out of the hospital and into community locations so maybe thats why! .Fingers crossed they allow your partner x

MoreGinPlease2020 · 30/03/2020 11:35

@Cavemountain That seems sensible, wish they were all doing that although it sounds like quite a big job logistically!

I've found somewhere nearby that offers slightly cheaper private reassurance scans, so have booked one for 3 days before the NHS scan. They're still allowing one visitor as the other private place near me isn't anymore. Still hoping this will have blown over by then but who knows. 😕

LJxxx · 30/03/2020 11:41

Someone sent me this today and just thought i would share Smile

Hope everyone is managing ok.

@MoreGinPlease2020 my 12 week is booked for 23rd april (fingers crossed that my husband can come with!) is yours around the same time? Glad you got one booked!

MoreGinPlease2020 · 30/03/2020 11:47

@Cavemountain My NHS one is Friday 24th April, so I tried to get the private one around the same time - managed to get Tuesday 21st which is near enough. I'll keep my fingers crossed your husband can go! We're already facing postponing our wedding in May, and our house purchase has just fallen through, so it seemed worth sorting this out as something for both of us to look forward to.

Sakura54 · 30/03/2020 12:10

@Cavemountain same date as mine, so just over 3 weeks to go, although I’ll be nearly 13 weeks. Let’s compare notes then lol and hope we all have good news!

Tbh you don’t really see much at the dating scan...the 20 week one is when you can actually tell what the heck you’re looking at!

Cavemountain · 30/03/2020 12:11

@MoreGinPlease2020 sorry to hear about the wedding and the house, a big year for you with all of that going on and a pregnancy! Congratulations on your engagement and hopefully things work out with the house before November!! Really hoping you get to have your scan together x

AnxiousLady1 · 30/03/2020 12:13

@LJxxx That post made me tear up. Anything will set me off at the moment it seems.

@burntpinky I'm with you on the house being a mess. It is driving me insane as I am usually on top of it, but now I just don't have the energy. I also only moved to take a shower. I'm still working from home which is becoming increasingly difficult.

On the fluctuating symptoms - I was worried when I felt okay yesterday morning, but still got sick last thing before bed, and again first thing this morning. So I'm going to try not to read into it too much.

I had my booking in appointment over the phone and when asked about classes and where I'd like to give birth, all I could say is I have not been able to think beyond 12 weeks, let alone that stuff. 8+2 today and also counting down the days/hours....

MoreGinPlease2020 · 30/03/2020 12:21

Thanks @Cavemountain

Cavemountain · 30/03/2020 12:29

@Sakura54 scan buddies! Yes that would be helpful to compare! I also didnt realise that about the clarity.. I think i was expecting to see a proper baby shape! Had a scan at 7 weeks which was obviously just a lump with a flutter haha.. Will lower my expectations for the 12!

Pink15 · 30/03/2020 12:47

All your ladies posts are reassuring we're all going through similar! My symptoms are also fluctuating every other day it seems - yesterday was awful with nausea I had to stay in bed most of the day but today the nausea has mostly gone (still exhausted though). So expecting it to be bad again tomorrow.

Also I so understand the house work struggle - the shower is literally my one useful thing I do every day (or even every other day....) at the moment 🙈😂

Bluebell2020 · 30/03/2020 12:51

@Addler I'm just over 6 weeks. The week before I found out and the week after I felt nauseous, didn't fancy drinking my routine cups of tea, tired and all sorts. For the past week and a half I've not had any symptoms what so ever. It's like they've been turned off and I don't feel pregnant. Booked an early scan for when I'm 8 weeks as I was also worrying! Hope your scan goes well.

bluebell94 · 30/03/2020 12:55

I feel like I don't have many symptoms at all. I had a couple of mild waves of nausea the week before last but they seem to have stopped now. Sore nipples but nothing horrendous. Tired and a bit short of breath but I almost feel I could be imagining it all! My mam never had any nausea with me or my siblings and I know SIL didn't have any nausea with her two so trying not to worry. Just want my scan on fri so I know things are ok 🤞🏻 hoping once I've had the scan then pass the 12 week mark in a few weeks I can relax a bit more and stop worrying (but I am very much a worrier 😬)

OhHuck · 30/03/2020 13:06

I rang my GP surgery this morning about the constant sickness since Friday morning. The receptionist advised me to eat ginger biscuits (!) I told her I'd tried those and they weren't working. She refused to let me speak to a doctor or have a phone consultation. I am seeing my mw tomorrow for my booking in appointment so will see if she can give me some helpful advice.

Pink15 · 30/03/2020 13:25

@OhHuck that's terrible!! How can the receptionist decide if you get an appointment or not?! Lack of sympathy from some people is shocking.

bluebell94 · 30/03/2020 13:41

Arrrggghhh just had to tell my boss. I'm a nurse (private not NHS) but been approached by NHS to set up a clinic testing for CV. She was lovely and said she wasn't surprised I'm pregnant as expected it soon and would absolutely not have me working with symptomatic people in a clinic like that. Relieved but nervous, I've got a lovely team but scared about them knowing this early. Feel like I've got no option at this time though 😬

SqidgeBum · 30/03/2020 13:48

@OhHuck that's awful. In my experience I did find docs etc were quite dismissive of MS. The line was 'it will ease soon hopefully' and I was told to eat ginger things and keep drinking water. But there are medications you can take. Make sure you stress to your midwife tomorrow that you cant function. You have to say you cant do the basics. Hopefully your midwife will take it more seriously.

I have always said if men had to go through MS there would be a cure by now. Its because women are expected to suffer that its ok to leave us to our misery.

Chickoletta · 30/03/2020 14:25

Had my booking appointment over the phone earlier - I’m 8 + 3. All good. Nice to feel that someone medical is taking an interest!
As I suspected, they want me to be consultant led because I am 40. Not a problem really and means I’ll get extra scans later on to check baby’s growth. We have an amazing brand new midwife led unit here which is in the main hospital and I am very keen to use it but they’ve told me today that this will only be possible if I go into labour spontaneously before 40+2. This seems unlikely as my previous too were 41+2 and 40+5. At least it wasn’t an outright no though I suppose.
Watched Bridget Jones’s Baby on TV last night which I enjoyed.
I’m another one with fluctuating symptoms but I know that this also happened in my previous pregnancies so not worrying about that - just about everything else!!
