@ACatCalledLola that’s amazing news - well done!!! Fingers crossed all goes well with your scan. Mine is on Wednesday when I’ll be 6+0...really hoping to see a heartbeat even though it’s super early.

riromay · 16/03/2020 19:49

I'm super anxious about having a baby in these times. I was reading the other thread where a pregnant woman 32+ weeks has pneumonia and basically she couldn't get proper treatment because of the whole covid situation.

I'm only 7 weeks pregnant!!! So long to go .. Sad

I had a good pregnancy last time but I was still sick way more often (colds, etc) and sometimes it required me to go to the hospital so it's so so scary that this time they won't have time for me.

Sorry for ranting but no one except my husband knows that I am pregnant and he's stressed out already so I don't have anyone to talk to 😭

Anyone feeling the same?

FlashesOfRage · 16/03/2020 19:55

@burntpinky

Which medication did you get given? I went this afternoon (actually to renew my sicknote for stress and anxiety) and my GP gave me Cyclizine tablets to try.

I’ve had the injectable version before when I had post op nausea and vomiting, I suppose I’m just a bit worried that it’s heavy duty stuff?

ParisInTheSpringtime · 16/03/2020 19:59

Hi all. Had my early scan today, measured at 6+2 and a strong heartbeat so all good. Still no symptoms!

Going to carry on as normal re going out and about, if I stop going to the gym I’ll go actually insane. Not too concerned, to be honest.

ACatCalledLola · 16/03/2020 20:01

Well apparently pregnant women are now in the at risk group. So does that mean we have to stay at home for 12 weeks. Not sure how that works if they’re keeping schools open.
Thanks @HarrietM87. According to my endocrinologist autoimmune diseases can die down during pregnancy and that’s what happened to me. Meant that the medication I was on was unnecessary and it sent my thyroid too far into under active mode. I think you mentioned that you were also worried about high TSH. I was told today that although the miscarriage risk is higher, it wouldn’t cause any long term damage this early.

HarrietM87 · 16/03/2020 20:13

Thanks @ACatCalledLola. That’s all good to know! I think I caught it pretty early this time and it wasn’t super high so fingers crossed. My precious mcs have been caused by other issues anyway (which are being treated with steroids) so really hope they’ve done the job this time. 2 days to go!

thenextadventure2020 · 16/03/2020 20:17

Hello everyone! shy wave
I'm 5+4 by my reckoning, expecting my first.
New to Mumsnet too!
Thinking I may need to start telling people a bit sooner than usual considering this afternoon's Covid-19 update!

nee83 · 16/03/2020 20:18

Hi all im 7 weeks tomorrow my booking in appt is 2nd April and 1st scan is the 21st feels like ages away. So far nausea has kicked in big time over the last week but not actually been sick 🤢 , have a bit of cramping and really tender boobs.

Workingmama1 · 16/03/2020 20:26

I told work today as I was planning on working from home more and avoiding the train meaning I'd be late from work. Obviously before we were told to stay at home for 12 weeks! Also means if anything bad happens (🤞 not) I can be honest which would make it easier. Plus I'm completely distracted by it so its helpfully for my manager to know that, but she is a friend too so it's easier.
If you don't think it would negatively impact you it is worth sharing of you can bare to, it also means your protective characteristics kick in once you inform them (not sure if it has to be in writing) which could be useful if anywhere starts having to let people go due to lack of business etc

WildflowerPetals · 16/03/2020 20:28

@nee83 I can totally sympathies with you. I was 7 weeks yesterday and have been feeling nauseous (but no vomiting) for around a week and also have some cramping and sore boobs. I’m hoping it’ll get better after 12 weeks 🤞🏼

WildflowerPetals · 16/03/2020 20:30

I’ve only just got home from work and feel I’ve missed something with regards to Covid 19 - Is there new advice for pregnant women?

Workingmama1 · 16/03/2020 20:35

Actually just thinking about what I said above, if we have to self isolate depending on your role you may have to tell your employer if WFH isnt an option!

@wildflowerpetals yes pregnant women have been advised to self isolate like those over 70 and with pre existing health conditions

nee83 · 16/03/2020 20:36

@wildflowerPetals yep 🤞 it will do

WildflowerPetals · 16/03/2020 20:43

@Workingmama1 Thank you for letting me know. How long are we supposed to self isolate for? Just the first trimester? I can’t seem to find any info online.

I work for the NHS (in the labs) so I’m already at high risk of catching it anyway. I told my manager I’m pregnant a week ago so at least that part won’t be a surprise!

uisage · 16/03/2020 20:57

@WildflowerPetals The official advice: www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-guidance-on-social-distancing-and-for-vulnerable-people/guidance-on-social-distancing-for-everyone-in-the-uk-and-protecting-older-people-and-vulnerable-adults

Tomorrow will be my last day in the office, I'm going in to tell my boss. Luckily, the office I'm in only has half a dozen people. I might only do a half day - I don't really want to tell him over instant messaging.

@Workingmama1 I would maybe send your boss an email saying 'as per our conversation earlier', just to get it in writing.

Anon87 · 16/03/2020 21:00

I'm so far behind today on here I've only just managed to catch up and I came on to ask about pinky CM at 6 weeks. 3 wipes today, the 6pm being the darkest but still definitely pink not red. I've read far too much all over Google. 🙄
@AnxiousLady1 I think I saw you're name asking too.

Busybee143 · 16/03/2020 21:03

@Beesly
Not the best news ever, was measuring at 5 weeks and i was 6 +4 which is normal i know but it doesnt make me feel confident.
I started spotting when wiping today and ive had some cramp so again not fantastic. Im trying to remain positive but i guess its anyones game eh.
Glad to hear yours went well, everything ok with you?

Beesly · 16/03/2020 21:06

@busybee146 oh no will they give you another scan in a couple of weeks? I spotted a bit last night and then a bit more just then too. I hope you’re ok, as if we’ve not got enough on our plate with this bloomin coronavirus

Caldey11 · 16/03/2020 21:13

@Natopp
@Acatcalledlola

I'm new to Mumsnet (only found out I was pregnant last Wednesday!) I am worried about my thyroid levels, I have had an IVF cycle and my fertility consultant has said I should get my levels checked every 4 weeks but I have no idea (and doubt) the NHS will agree to do that. My GP has said it needs to go through the midwives/hospital but I have no idea when I will get an appointment with one, it looks like it is usually done at week 10 and I think I need to get it checked again well before that. Can you tell me what you have been told to expect regarding how often thyroid checks should be done, I've read different things from every 4 weeks to once a trimester. Any insight would be much appreciated!

itsmeoverhere · 16/03/2020 21:15

Is anyone clear on the new guidance for pregnant women? I am still unclear and finding it all confusing but think they said we should isolate for 12 weeks, is that right?

Caldey11 · 16/03/2020 21:20

Yes, isolate for 12 weeks, it may end up being a lot longer depending on how well we contain the spread of the virus. The way things are in Europe, it could be that the whole country is isolating very soon. Not ideal to say the least.

HarrietM87 · 16/03/2020 21:20

@Caldey11 have you been diagnosed with hypothyroidism?

If yes, then the advice is to increase your dose by 25-50mcg as soon as you get a positive pregnancy test, then get your thyroid function checked, and every 4 weeks thereafter for the rest of the pregnancy.

If you had subclinical hypothyroidism the advice is different - doesn’t apply to me so I’m afraid I don’t know the details but google will tell you. The British thyroid foundation is usually good.

HarrietM87 · 16/03/2020 21:21

PS @Caldey11 feel free to PM me - am all over this stuff

itsmeoverhere · 16/03/2020 21:24

Thank you @Caldey11

Caldey11 · 16/03/2020 21:24

@HarrietM87 Thank you. I have subclinical hypothyroidism, I got my level tested as soon as I found out I was pregnant (1.97) and my fertility consultant doesn't think I should increase the dose further at the moment and said to get it checked in 4 weeks. I'm concerned it will go above 2 but I'm sure he knows best. My issue is how to make sure it is being tested before I get to see a midwife? I suppose the simple answer is to go back to my GP but he doesn't seem to think it is his responsibility to be checking it.
