This is a safe space and supportive thread for anyone who is pregnant following a loss.

We all understand the worry and anxiety that can come from being pregnant again following miscarriage/stillbirth/neonatal death.

Plenty of births on the last thread, congratulations to you all!

Let's start a fresh roll call below? I'll collate as we go.

@Mistymeow that's excellent news that your little one is doing so well and you are now home! That seems a really quick turnaround. Well done on avoiding jaundice (didn't manage it with my DS). Hopefully you can get the stuff you need. I am seeing stuff on the shelves (via twitter and Facebook) in our local shops so hopefully it won't be as bad as you think.

ChikiTIKI · 20/03/2020 17:23

Oh @Mistymeow it's a relief to see you have good news to share. I'm glad to hear things are going well and you are home now ❤️ I hope you are coping OK emotionally. It's hard after being through a traumatic birth. If you reacted similarly to me, you might have an awful lot of adrenaline going round your body at the moment, making you not feel tired. If you do, just try to rest anyway as you will feel tired eventually once it wears off. Sending love to you and your family. All safe at home now and time to recover 🙂❤️ xxxxxx

Mistymeow · 21/03/2020 02:14

@Kayjay2018 thank you- her colouring is jaundiced but she hasn’t needed light therapy so far. Was really annoyed that all the shops had sold out of formula- my baby regularly needs top ups- but the pharmacy have been great and ordered some in. Just can’t believe how greedy people have become.

@ChikiTIKI thank you I’m doing ok. I know exactly what you mean about running on adrenaline. Going to get my mum round tomorrow as she was a nurse for special care babies. I think the hard part was hearing it all go wrong and not seeing it, and that wait to see if she’s alive or not. How are you doing?

Apparently there will be an investigation because of the consultant breaking her arm- hospital procedure. I don’t really have an opinion as I can only go with what I was told, but if breaking her arm saved her life then that’s what needed to happen.

ChikiTIKI · 21/03/2020 08:12

@Mistymeow that's great that your mum can help out for a bit and you will be able to rest while she is with you. Gosh you must have been so scared. That's good that they will investigate and that they are keeping you informed. If they write a report on what happned in full, you will be able to read it and make better sense of how and why everything happened, which will hopefully help you move on forward the traumatic parts of the birth.

I'm OK thanks, got a midwife appt on Monday and then pre op on Friday. C section following Monday. My husband woke up poorly today, very very dizzy and being sick. I was hoping to have my husband at the birth with my sister nearby ready to support us and go with the baby to SCBU if required. I am trying to mentally prepare for the possibility of going totally on my own. With husband being ill, and my sister working on intensive care at the moment without proper safety equipment.

Hope you can get some formula milk soon. Just awful all this isn't it. Xxxx

ChikiTIKI · 21/03/2020 08:14

@Mistymeow my DD had jaundiced colouring at first, it came and went a few times so she was tested twice while we were in hospital. I think for her it was due to a very large ventouse bruise. We managed to get her in the sunlight and she soon recovered 🙂

Rubyroost · 21/03/2020 17:42

@Mistymeow glad all is okay now. Its stressful enough a newborn, coronavirus etc without all the added extra on top. My little one was jaundiced too. Not enough forbthen to be worried though. They just left him to it. X

ChikiTIKI · 23/03/2020 12:14

Just had my last midwife appointment and didn't get sent to the hospital this time! Bump measuring small but bigger than last time. Pre op on Friday at the hospital.

Was weird being at the GP. Almost nobody there, waiting room adjusted so there's massive gaps between the chairs.

Hope you're all keeping well xxxx

squirrelnutkins1 · 25/03/2020 09:20

Just wanted to say I hope everyone is doing ok and managing to keep sane at this difficult time x

Kayjay2018 · 25/03/2020 09:47

@ChikiTIKI that's good news from your GP appointment. I have the hospital next Tuesday (was only there just over a week ago). Am wondering how different it will seem when I'm there. I've told DH he can come but to wait in the car, want to minimise us seeing anyone and touching anything.
@squirrelnutkins1 how are you doing? I'm just about staying sane. Online NCT classes have been interesting, zoom call was fine, a WhatsApp text chat whilst looking at photos was really unengaging.

squirrelnutkins1 · 25/03/2020 13:21

@Kayjay2018 I bet it'll be a ghost town. Sorry OH has to stay in the car ☹️

I'm ok thanks. Working from home so that's good. It's an amazing day today so just getting some sunshine while I have my lunch xx

Kayjay2018 · 25/03/2020 13:46

@squirrelnutkins1 lunch is the garden when it's sunny is lovely - my husband and I have managed it the last 3 days and it's great!

I'm 33+3 today and have got my bag packed and most of the baby's bag (just need to iron a few pieces and pop them in). It feels like baby has dropped from the weekend, lots of pokey movement (it loves its hands by its face) low down actually quite painful and then kicks in my ribs. All my NCT classes have moved online which has been a mixed bag. One zoom call was great, then WhatsApp chats less so.

Hope everyone is muddling along ok.

ChikiTIKI · 28/03/2020 08:01

Had my pre op yesterday 😬 2 more days of regular isolation before the big day! Felt quite anxious yesterday. Excited though. Hope you're all feeling better safe and well and have a lovely weekend xxxx

Catconfusion · 28/03/2020 08:05

That’s great @ChikiTIKI was your partner able to go? Mine is on Thursday with section next Sunday. I keep flitting between excited and nervous. Not long now for you! Your baby will be in your arms before you know it! Xx

ChikiTIKI · 28/03/2020 13:59

@Catconfusion my husband stayed at home with DD as children aren't allowed on site. He is coming on Monday though! Hope Thursday and Sunday goes well for you. Life will be very different for us both in just over a week from now! 😀😀

Rubyroost · 28/03/2020 16:36

@ChikiTIKI @Catconfusion good luck to both of you x

Rubyroost · 28/03/2020 19:21

@sadtoday21 how are you. Get yourself over to the faceboon page email @Beaglemum93. Miss you x

InDreamland · 28/03/2020 23:29

Hi Ladies. Sorry I've not been on for a while. Bubsy has been keeping me very occupied - with getting BF established a bit of a rollercoaster journey and still feel like we're not there yet as still having to give formula top ups, along with early signs of mastitis last week, and painful nipples/boobs. It's been very emotional with a lot of tears. She's also a velcro baby so any loo trip or getting myself some food or drink means crying when I pop her in the moses basket.

Been thinking of you all though, especially in this crazy time with social distancing. I hope you're all coping as well as you can in the circumstances - scary times for all of us, either pregnant or with newborns.

@Mistymeow congratulations on the arrival of your little one! Sorry it was a traumatic experience but thankful you have your rainbow home.

Stay safe everyone! x

Mistymeow · 29/03/2020 05:29

@ChikiTIKI @Catconfusion how exciting! Not long now :)

Hope everyone is doing well. I hear that partners are no longer allowed at scans, I would find that so stressful. But sounds like the nhs are handling everything the right way despite the challenges.

@InDreamland sounds like we have similar babies! My little one won’t settle in her crib either and has to be held. Apparently this phase doesn’t last forever...I hope not! We are also doing regular formula top ups but we are getting her tongue tie snipped shortly so I’m hoping we can give breastfeeding another try. Sounds like you’re doing a great job! We have found doing the night in shifts much more manageable.

Catconfusion · 29/03/2020 10:25

Thanks @ChikiTIKI and good luck for tomorrow. Looking forward to news! How are you feeling about the procedure? We watched some positive videos from our local hospital which helped. I’ve also learnt some hypnobirthing breathing techniques in case I feel anxious. It’s so exciting though! Xx

Thank you @Rubyroost how are you getting on? Baby measure 9 pounds 10 at our 38 week scan so super interested to see what he’s measuring next Sunday when he finally comes out. Xx

Thank you @Mistymeow how are you getting on? Xx

InDreamland · 29/03/2020 10:58

@Mistymeow hopefully they'll grow out of it but reckon it'll be a few months at least. Hope the breastfeeding goes well.

@ChikiTIKI @Catconfusion good luck and hope the birth goes smoothly!

Rubyroost · 29/03/2020 12:24

@Catconfusion we are doing well in the circumstances! Not easy with a toddler who is quite frankly bored. I'm going to order a swing for the garden this week I think! Wondering how long our life will be different, I think this virus is here to stay for a while. 😢
Be very interesting to hear how big your baby is!
@Mistymeow @Indreamland have you both invested in a swing chair? Could bide you some time? I don't know just how velcro your babies are. I don't have much choice with a toddler I have to leave mine to cry sometimes.

TinyPaws · 29/03/2020 12:26

Congratulations @Mistymeow, sorry the section didn't go smoothly but glad she is finally here.

I'm ok, 37+1 now and getting strong Braxton Hicks but cervix still closed and no sign of regular contractions. Got a cough/runny nose/headache so in isolation, although I was barely going out anyway since being sent home from work at 35+3 so it doesn't make much difference. Pretty sure the cough is more post nasal drip than Covid-19 but better be responsible and not spread it just in case.

My local hospital is allowing birth partners at the birth but I'm going to all antenatal appointments and scans unaccompanied now.

Rubyroost · 29/03/2020 12:28

@Mistymeow is your little ones arm healing alright?
We had tongue tie done when little one was two weeks. It didn't make a massive difference for us, but he was feeding okay anyway. Maybe his latch got a bit stronger. Both mine had tongue ties and both struggled to latch initially, but soon learnt with their ties. I think it's different for each baby and no doubt if you are having issues then the issues should resolve.

ChikiTIKI · 29/03/2020 12:38

@Catconfusion I am feeling OK about it I suppose... Quite nervous.... Need to re write birth plan as covid 19 has changed some parts. I'm so interested to find out how small this baby is... I think 5lbs 11oz, husband thinks 5lbs 6oz... I might do some googling to try and figure it out based on centiles.

Got to take tablets and drunk these pre op drinks tonight/tomorrow. I doubt I will sleep much tonight.

Will report back hopefully tomorrow if feeling up to it. Its an afternoon c section so not sure what time I will be OK by... Just feeling very unprepared!!!

Rubyroost · 29/03/2020 13:13

@chikiTIKI you'll be okay already during the section and by the end as the spinal will still be working and so relatively pain free. Top tip take all the drugs they give you even if you don't need them as soon as spinal fully wears of and the pain kicks in you'll wish you did.
