@SkyBlue20 how exciting about your scan, bet you cannot wait! I’m still waiting for the letter but hopefully any day now!
@Lucylou37 no I don’t work in London and I drive so really at a lot less risk. One of my two bosses knows now and she was delighted and said she agreed as there isn’t much knowledge I should be extra cautious.
@JKbabyOct2020 congratulations and welcome to the group! I hadn’t realised that baby was born with the virus, I thought it caught it straight after birth. I just think there isn’t enough research to confirm for everyone so agree about being cautious. I am keen to just get out the first trimester!!

LexiM · 16/03/2020 10:46

@Quiffy sorry I missed your post on the next page! Sorry you have been feeling so unwell, it’s so horrible isn’t it. I had a rough night last night too and was sick after hours of lying there feeling awful.

I’ve got to go to the hospital for bloods this afternoon so know what you mean! The midwife had two unsuccessful attempts on Friday and usually I would be fine but I immediately felt sick after so now I’m a bit apprehensive about going and trying again!

CouscousEvaporator · 16/03/2020 10:49

Sorry to hear some of you are still really poorly :( I hope the end of it is in sight soon!

I’ve resigned myself to the fact I’m probably going to get covid, me and DH are both front line healthcare with vulnerable patients, only a matter of time really! That being said I wouldn’t fancy a tube commute either like some of you 😟 I think that seems just as much risk!!

Got the 12 week scan on the horizon as something to look forward to! Trying to keep positive.
🙂

Quiffy · 16/03/2020 11:24

@LexiM it went easier than I thought. She struggled on my first arm at first but it worked. I was in and out very quickly as my surgery has been closed to all appointments bar emergency gp and bloods (although that freaked me out a bit, hopefully my liver is back to normal!). Place was totally empty bar me and gps looking bored! Hope yours go okay 🤞🤞🤞

@couscousevaporator hope you’re not too swept off your feet too much ❤️ Must be crazy times atm

Zaalfruit · 16/03/2020 12:33

@Buzz22 thinking of you x

Buzz22 · 16/03/2020 12:57

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and messages. We saw baby with a heartbeat wriggling around. Measuring exactly 10 weeks as we expected. No explanation for the bleeding. I did bleed at 7 weeks, 10 week and then from 16 weeks till we lost our last baby with no explanation so maybe I'm just one of those people that do!
Feeling very relieved for now but anxious for our next appointment with consultant and 12 week scan. Realistically I don't think I'll feel relaxed until 20 week scan as that is when we had our bad news and learnt I had no amniotic fluid last time.

I'm lucky that I'm still signed off work since our loss in November so not having to worry about work and commuting like some of you.
DP is still working in the office but many teams are trialling working from home as it's a very large international company and they've had people travelling here there and everywhere. He's so worried about bringing germs home to me.

I hope everyones sickness is a bit better today. I'm managing to hold down salt and vinegar crisps, marmite on toast and not much else. I understand the public puking embarrassment...I threw up at the park walking the dog a few weeks ago and was mortified!

I'm not sure if this will be of any help to anyone as I assume we're all supplementing with vitamin d anyway but it may of of interest to some of you. He is a British doctor and he shows some good scientific studies.

Buzz22 · 16/03/2020 12:59

Sorry I meant to say the vitamin d video above is in regards to coronavirus. X

Spark27 · 16/03/2020 13:08

Excellent news on the scan @Buzz22, and thank you for the link.

I hope you guys get to work from home. It seems an obvious win to allow people to if you can and they want to. Unfortunately I cant work from home as I work in a secure environment, but at least it means if I'm sent home I cant be expected to work Grin

Feeling a lot better today so managed to eat a bit, and do some batch cooking ready for if I feel terrible again, or too lazy to cook.
DD has decided she wants a go at potty training again so we've been back and forth to the potty, constantly washing hands, and I've already had to wash multiple pairs of disney princess knickers. Great. Focusing on the end goal (and wishing for gin Gin)

BntTowers · 16/03/2020 13:41

@Lucylou37 I don't work in London either, I'm lucky in that I can either walk to work or get the bus, I have been walking as much as possible because it's good for me and then I avoid the public transport, even though at that time in the morning there's only ever about 3 people on it.
@Quiffy glad you got your bloods sorted quickly, it's always difficult for them to get blood out of me too. Always tell them to go for the inside elbow instead, that tends to be where they can get it from me.
I've still not heard if I'm getting anything to be able to work from home. Latest is it might be a PC and someone will come and drop it off and set it up, but whether it actually gets done this afternoon or not is a different matter. We've had a few people call in to say they've had symptoms over the weekend and aren't coming into the office, still makes you wonder as they were in Friday if they've managed to spread whatever it is around anyway.

LexiM · 16/03/2020 16:19

I told both my bosses today and they are supportive of my decision to work from home when necessary.

I also heard today that the office next door had someone off diagnosed with CV and then my local hospital has also confirmed someone died there a couple of days ago from it with other health problems... I had just been to that hospital to have my blood taken. I guess there really is no avoiding it. I didn’t touch anything in the hospital and used the sanitiser. I was in and out in 5 minutes. Trying to stay calm and not over think it.

SkyBlue20 · 16/03/2020 16:59

Will catch up shortly but just seen that Boris Johnson has said that it is particularly important for pregnant women, over 70/ and those with medical conditions to stop non-essential contact with others... so the advice for us has completely changed!!

SkyBlue20 · 16/03/2020 16:59

*over 70s

Spark27 · 16/03/2020 17:10

@SkyBlue20, I'm watching it too. It's really annoying though cos he only mentioned pregnant women once. Keep listening to see if there is anything else said about pregnant women.....

Hes just said women who are pregnant as a precautionary measure cos it's so earlier in their knowledge

CouscousEvaporator · 16/03/2020 17:10

What?! Does this mean we have to stop going to work then? I did not expect my pregnancy to go this way lol

KelMcC · 16/03/2020 17:15

Getting very serious now!

Early Oct babies part 2!
SkyBlue20 · 16/03/2020 17:18

Welcome @JKbabyOct2020!

@Quiffy sounds like an awful weekend, you poor thing! Hopefully a one-off weekend and it’s all better from here!

@CouscousEvaporator You’re a hero doing what you do! How do you think this evening’s advice will affect your work?

@Buzz22 Great news! Positive thoughts going your way for the rest of your pregnancy 💕

I’m not going to lie, this whole ‘pregnant women stay at home’ thing is terrifying. I know its precautionary as they don’t know the effects for sure but that’s scary in itself. I’m so glad I’m so close to the 12 weeks so I can explain my sudden hibernation to people and also hopefully have some reassurance at the scan!

Spark27 · 16/03/2020 17:23

Yep. Desperate to get to my scan on thursday and then tell people at the weekend so it's out in the open.
Just called work (I only work tues-thurs) and my boss said I'm to work from home tomorrow. I cant really work from home so im basically doing very little Grin. They're then hoping to come up with an idea of what it means for me going forward.
I feel bad cos my DH is working hard and will need to do the nursery stuff, and I actually feel ok at the moment. Very weird pregnancy!

CouscousEvaporator · 16/03/2020 17:23

@skyblue20 ah I’m not a hero! I am going to speak to my manager about what to do tomorrow (she’s gone home now). To be honest, I am at an increased risk in my job, but then it doesn’t stop there as my husband can just bring it home, so is self isolation actually worth it?! I don’t know what to do :( I am with you on the 12 week thing, fed up now of sucking my belly in and avoiding talking about corona due to me accidentally giving it away. 😆

@Buzz22 congratulations on your scan ❤️ Lovely news

otterbaby · 16/03/2020 17:53

Quite annoyed that I've just had to out myself to my boss already! Only 11 weeks. But with the new government guidance and working in a public space, I'm not messing around with this anymore!

BntTowers · 16/03/2020 18:10

Yeah I've just listened to the speech back. They do only mention pregnant women once, bit they did mention to social distance as a precaution because they don't know the effects.
Guess who didn't get their laptop today... Me... Guess who isn't going into work tomorrow... Me...
They say something then their actions are the complete opposite at my office.
This is going to be an interesting pregnancy to say the least.

BecLJ · 16/03/2020 18:50

It feels really scary now it's actually written down that we are a high risk group. I'm quite lucky that I can fairly easily work from home but will also have to out myself earlier than I wanted!

Brilliant news @Buzz22!

Quiffy · 16/03/2020 19:31

It’s all very confusing. Someone I’m my family is over 70 and has a lung problem, yet they refuse to self isolate and plans to go to London for a trip, all their social outings and encouraging lots of family members over for lunch numerous times a week. They also insist on hugging and kissing everyone they meet. They have said they don’t care if they get it - yet they don’t seem to realise they could infect others in the family who are also high risk! Sorry needed to vent my frustrations at that one.

I work from home and DH can mainly work from home so we’re fortunate. Just need to see what the guidelines keep saying. I’m going to stay indoors as much as I can for now. I can’t go far for fear of vomit anyway 😹😹 although I wish my gp would give me my anti sickness tablet for more than 10 days at a time 🤔🤔

@Buzz22 wonderful news! ❤️❤️

LostinAusten2 · 16/03/2020 19:46

@Buzz22 - so glad for your news! It’s such relief getting the scan, wishing my NHS one would hurry up a little (not til 10 April...!).

And @Quiffy and others - so sorry to hear re your sickness, I had to leave work at lunchtime today as just can’t keep food down 🤢. And I guess after BoJo news that’s us working from home from now on... exciting times!

SkyBlue20 · 16/03/2020 19:48

Biz partner and I have decided that we’re going to go in tomorrow morning to speak to staff and get everything organised and then everyone will work from home from lunchtime onwards for as long as we need to - very lucky that our work can be done from anywhere as long as we have access to emails. Husband works from home for the most part but will have to go in to the office later this week for one last time as he comes to the end of a contract.

I’ve cancelled two meals out I was meant to have this week, one of which was for Mother’s Day - have invited mum, MIL, auntie and cousin here instead, not quite isolating but better than being in a restaurant! Feel terrible cancelling bookings though as a lot of my family are in the hospitality industries and I know how much of an affect it’s going to have on them so would love to keep supporting similar businesses but it’s just not safe.

Having thought about it, I’m glad that they’re saying we’re at risk though, as scary as it is, as it is only precautionary but it does finally give us some backup to being able to demand things like WFH and justifying isolation etc whereas before we all wanted that and were concerned but there didn’t seem to be any justification for it.

How’s everyone feeling about potential isolation for 12 weeks? It’s going to be tough and I’ll miss my friend’s hen do (I’m bridesmaid) but better safe than sorry! Husband has said he’ll isolate with me as otherwise there doesn’t seem much point?!

Spark27 · 16/03/2020 19:55

I'm a bit annoyed to be honest. I mean, I completely understand it and get why we need to, and I definitely wouldn't risk health of me/baby/family. But I'm just going to feel so isolated. Pretty sure I wont really see anyone. I already feel pretty cut off from work after going back part time from maternity before and there being loads of new staff (and most dont have kids and get to go out boozing, or do lunch on friday when I'm not there), so this definitely wont help that. And I'd just started to feel better again from morning sickness.
But, I completely understand it. Just not sure how I'll pass the time as I cant even really work from home
