Congratulations on the scans @Treaclepie19 @didslysquiddlydoo in terms of sizing, it’s so inaccurate at the moment! Last week mine was measuring a week behind for the first measurement, then as she kept measuring it ended dead on my dates 🤷🏻‍♀️

Welcome to the new people, sorry, trying to keep up at the moment but have had a horrid chest infection all week, so not quite with it. 8 weeks tomorrow, don’t feel pregnant at all because of being ill, starting to be anxious as it was 8w4d that my last pregnancy stopped growing. Really hoping that once I shake this infection I get some pregnancy symptoms back.

Hagster · 04/03/2020 21:12

Sorry, so many messages since I last logged in! Congratulations on the positive scans @Treaclepie19 and @didslysquiddlydoo. It's so nice to hear so many positive stories on this thread. And nice to know there's so much support here too if things don't go so well. What a lovely bunch.

DressingGown87 · 04/03/2020 21:29

@Treaclepie19 fantastic news!

@didslysquiddlydoo glad your scan also went well! And that you saw the heartbeat.

I had mine on Monday, and also measured slightly behind. Rescan in 3 weeks, so will hopefully have caught up, and still ok! Xx

Knotemma · 04/03/2020 21:55

@didslysquiddlydoo at our first scan 6+4 I was measuring 5+5 and it was literally a blob with a flutterey but that was the heartbeat. At our second scan (private) at 9+4 I was measuring 9+1. The sonographer at the second scan said she wouldn't be surprised if we were measuring bigger by the time my 12 week scan came around, because they start to straighten out by then. Before hand they're so curled up that it's difficult to get an accurate date measurement. I hope that helps a bit with the anxiety xx

Givemethegin · 04/03/2020 21:57

Hello everyone, only just rediscovered this thread, thanks @Avocuddles. I'm clearly not on here enough to keep up (sorry!) but lovely to hear some good scan news from people! Smile

I need advice! I'm basically blanking this out as if it isn't happening, still being good not drinking etc but I don't want to think about it at all. In my denial phase I'm also feeling like I don't want an early scan as I don't want to acknowledge this might even be happening before finding out the real status at 12 week scan (missed miscarriage identified during my 12 week scan last time but it had looked all OK at an 8ish week scan).

Is anyone else blanking it completely? Or avoiding an early scan? Am I making things worse for myself?? I'm 8 weeks now and see the midwife for booking in on Monday, so want to have a good think about it before that.
Thanks!

SunStruck · 05/03/2020 06:20

@avocuddles oh that's exciting, come on time, go faster!! 🤣 I really want another scan too soon but it looks like I'll get the Harmony first and might not get a scan until 13 weeks or so.

@Treaclepie19 @didslysquiddlydoo congrats on positive scans ladies!!! 🥰

TunnocksTcake · 05/03/2020 09:21

@Treaclepie19 @didslysquiddlydoo so glad you had positive scans. With measuring, I had 7w2d on a Saturday one week then 9w1d on a Thursday 2 weeks later, I think it all changes sooo much at this stage, especially if they are wriggling around. Also if the images were a bit blurry that can make it difficult to get an accurate measurement. Internal ones tend to be sharper if you fancy that next time!! I am so used to them now with my tilted womb!

Im starting to feel a bit better - boobs not as sore and sickness fading slowly but trying not to read into it. 10 weeks now so assuming it is the placenta taking over. Boobs are still massive so that's reassuring!

Rachael321 · 05/03/2020 09:26

Morning all, glad yesterdays scans went well!!

I actually felt hungry last night for the first time in aaaaages, thought things were on the up, had one bite of my dinner... "I dont want that" back to normal and no appetite!! Made myself eat at least some of it which was difficult. Seems the only things I can eat and enjoy right now are crisps! Especially golden wonder smoky bacon!

Time to update this again, 16 weeks today, cant believe it. Consultant appt on Tuesday and then 20 week scan on 3rd april!!

@TunnocksTcake same for me! We have the same due date and I’ve been going from raging anxiety and feeling reassured when my nausea pops back to visit. After 3 weeks of throwing up all day long, I managed to keep last nights dinner in my tummy, so of course my mind went straight to the worst place. Swinging between reminding myself that this is a normal time for symptoms to relax a bit, and poking my boobs until I make them angry.

Ibaadsmummy · 05/03/2020 12:42

Epu havnt called with my results yet for second lot of bloods the wait is making me google and convince myself of all types of scenarios... keep trying to remember it's a new pregnancy but feel so stressed and worried. Plus not really got symptoms so even more anxious

Aria2015 · 05/03/2020 12:43

Had my scan today. All was looking good. Had an abdominal scan so the 'view' wasn't as clear as my internal scan but, saw a little blob and a heartbeat and was measuring 8 weeks 3 days so the baby had grown the expected amount in the last 2 weeks. Have another scan in two weeks. Fingers crossed!

I've updated my weeks!

@Aria2015 glad that your scan went well, that's great news.

@Ibaadsmummy try not to Google, I know it's so hard, but until you have the results you'll only make your anxiety worse. I hope that they call you soon with good news

Ibaadsmummy · 05/03/2020 13:23

@Knotemma thanks you its soo hard xx

Treaclepie19 · 05/03/2020 14:59

Glad all was well @Aria2015!

Ugh I'm having a wobble this afternoon. Over something ridiculous.
I took my son to have his hair cut and the woman next to us was having hers dyed which set off my anxiety that I shouldn't have taken him in case any hair dye got on me. 😩 Losing the plot I think.

Ibaadsmummy · 05/03/2020 17:29

Sorry didnt mean you double post

Hagster · 05/03/2020 17:53

Hi @givemethegin I absolutely understand about feeling detached and like it's not real, totally understandable and normal. And as for getting scans or not, I think that has to be completely up to you - I ended up getting early ones due to some cramping and worrying, but I totally get why you might want to wait. Basically, don't judge yourself and just do whatever you feel fits best at the time. Just because you're not getting scans now doesn't mean you can't arrange them later if you change your mind. Be kind to yourself xx

Givemethegin · 05/03/2020 18:21

Thanks @Hagster, really appreciate your advice :) so much going on in life right now I don't think I have the brain power or emotions available for going through a scan and thinking this is real.

It's all about doing what we can to get through at this stage though isn't it?! Whatever we have to do for us to cope. Hopefully soon I'll actually feel confident enough to add my date on the list 😂

Avocuddles · 05/03/2020 18:45

@Treaclepie19 you definitely have nothing to worry about. I have had my hair dyed, I read extensively and concluded that it's a very very low risk activity, especially if performed in a salon where a skilled hairdresser can make sure it's applied properly to the hair rather than painted all over the scalp like when I used to do it at home! Sitting next to having someone having their hair coloured really isn't any cause for anxiety whatsoever, though feeling paranoid about all kinds of things is of course very normal for all of us here so you're not 'losing the plot'....

@Ibaadsmummy that's great news. It's perfectly normal to have no or minimal symptoms, I didn't have many until at least 6 weeks.

@Givemethegin as @Hagster says it's all about what feels best for you and makes you feel the most comfortable. For now just take each day as it comes and if you decide in time that you want an early scan then you can one booked, and if you don't then that's fine too. I know what you mean in terms of not feeling that this is real, I've have two scans but it still doesn't feel real to me. I'm hoping that if I have a positive 12 week scan then I might feel a little more confident but I suspect I'll never truly believe that I might get to be a Mum until the day I bring a baby home....

@Aria2015 glad your scan went well, you can look forward to seeing lots of changes at the next one!

Treaclepie19 · 05/03/2020 18:48

Thanks @Avocuddles. That's really reassuring. I do struggle with OCD as well so I'm going to have to work hard to keep on top of it all. I think seeing baby again yesterday has just made it all so real. I want to protect baby but obviously I can't.

Avocuddles · 05/03/2020 19:04

@Treaclepie19 I know what you mean - all of the hype / media coverage re Coronavirus is making me feel the same, it's not me I'm worried about, it's the little person growing inside me. I would do anything for them yet the reality is that their fate is largely out of my control.....

(As a matter of interest though I felt reassured when a doctor on radio 2 stated that pregnant women aren't believed to be high risk - whilst flu is potentially very dangerous to pregnant ladies our CV risk is apparently much the same as anyone else in the same age group.....)

Treaclepie19 · 05/03/2020 19:30

@Avocuddles Oh really? That's interesting! I'd just assumed it would put us way more at risk. It does seem to be the over 70s that it affects most though doesn't it?
I'm already in bed and trying to chill a bit. I'm constantly tired 😴

TunnocksTcake · 05/03/2020 20:46

@littlegoth glad it's not just me! I think I have a couple of days like this each week and most of the time they return again but I just can't stop my brain going to those crazy dark places. By the time we have our dating scans I think we will deserve awards for patience!

@Treaclepie19 I have also had my hair dyed and it's very low risk. I can totally sympathise with thinking the worst though, i think it's absolutely natural.

@avocuddles I assumed we would be at more risk just because of the lowered immune system so that's interesting. Our local Sainsbury's ran out of loo roll today 🙄 so ridiculous, you can get that delivered! We actually have a member of staff who is on holiday in northern Italy at the moment and I was quite glad to hear she will be told to self isolate.

Givemethegin · 05/03/2020 22:03

Thanks @Avocuddles. It's funny how I think I'm actually thinking about being pregnant less than I was thinking about wanting to get pregnant before I actually found out.
I really hope it works for you this time too. Sounding positive with the two scans you have had so far. I'm sure after the 12 and 20 week scans you will feel even more positive. Sending good vibes!
