Hi everyone ... what a day I've had with this bluddy coronavirus 😡

I've had to tell my line manager today that we are pregnant again even though its so early. Im only 4 weeks 😷

Im a childrens community nurse and have been getting mixed advice from work and then come home to Boris saying that we are now high risk!

My manager has told me to stay off tomorrow until she gets further advice from her line manager.

The thought of staying home for 12 weeks is not filling me with Joy especially as I am so worried about this pregnancy.

DressingGown87 · 16/03/2020 22:01

@seaduck I’m going to stay off, and hope my appointment and scan don’t get cancelled on Wednesday, so I can get some further advice. I can work from home if I can get some files, but that work load wouldn’t give me 12weeks worth, a few days at a push.

I think we all feel the same, it’s another thing to get anxious about, on top of everything else xx

Treaclepie19 · 16/03/2020 22:01

I'm keeping him home from school. decided.
@MissSparkles81 I'm glad they're sorting it for you. Remember though we're only socially distancing, not isolating. So you can still go out for walks and stuff.

Sunflower1608 · 17/03/2020 06:01

I work on a psychiatric intensive care unit. No mention of me getting time off or being deployed elsewhere 🙄 but do feel reassured by the facts and statistics they do have regarding the virus and pregnancy. As worried if I'm forced to being off my maternity pay is based on 5 weeks of pay at 20weeks I think, and I'm heavily dependent on my enhancements that I get from working nightshifts. It adds a full 30% to my wage. I will really struggle on maternity pay based on basic wage. On top of that, my holiday has been cancelled which I'm gutted about as it would have been my first abroad holiday in 3 years and probably the last for a fair while. My kids are still all going to school, but they are fairly low risk looking at the stats. And other then pregnancy we are all fairly healthy so trying to focus on that

MissSparkles81 · 17/03/2020 07:21

Hi @Sunflower1608 I totally sympathise with the unsocial payments. At least I don't have to worry about that side of things as I am Mon-Fri 8-4.

I am usually a levelheaded person and rely on facts and research before making decisions rather than listening to social media rubbish but what concerns me is that there isn't any research on this!

Will keep you posted on what my manager says when she phones later.

teaandtantrums90 · 17/03/2020 07:41

Hope everyone's ok and taking it easy! I am working from home for the foreseeable future following yesterday's announcement.

In brighter news, after 6 miscarriages, yesterday I had an early reassurance scan and there was a little blob and a heartbeat 💃🏻 happy days!

SammiLou2312 · 17/03/2020 08:07

Congrats @teaandtantrums90 glad to hear scan went well.
Hope everyone is doing ok today. I'm not feeling too great. So much for easier second trimester lol x

Rachael321 · 17/03/2020 09:19

I am currently bricking it. Head had been whirring all night with the what ifs etc.
I am due back at work tomorrow after being off sick for 6 weeks, needing to go back as cant afford to live on SSP. And now with the news and potential isolation for 12 weeks is freaking me out.

Previous losses making you more anxious anyway.
Pregnancy being treated as high risk already by MW and consultant.
Taking aspirin to prevent preeclampsia, aspirin is an anti inflammatory, not good for fighting infection.
My pregnancy has been pretty difficult so far and I've been pretty unwell with it.
Now the govt has put us in the high risk group!

In a total panic and dont know what to do.

I cant work from home or I would happily do that but it's not an option

Avocuddles · 17/03/2020 09:42

@teaandtantrums90 congratulations on the positive scan, that's great to hear.

@Rachael321 I'm with you in terms of anxiety though fortunate enough to have an office based retail job and I'm fine working from home. Are there any alternative duties your employer could give you for the short term?
I'm also on aspirin as well as enoxaparin, I would try not to worry, the aspirin dose is very low (assuming you're on 150mg?), the anti inflammatory risks are from people taking high doses of ibuprofen which is off limits for us all anyhow.

@MissSparkles81 hope your conversation with your manager goes well.

@Sunflower1608 I agree that the facts and info that is available does suggest our risk is relatively low, I'd like to think that the government approach is a 'better to be safe than sorry' approach largely focus on reducing the burden on the NHS rather than actually worried about us as individuals. It's still scary though feeling so out of control of your own life!

@SammiLou2312 @Treaclepie19 @DressingGown87 (and everyone else) - hope you're all ok today and staying calm. Big hugs (at a long distance!) to all of you.....

Aww how lovely @teaandtantrums90 🥰

Knotemma · 17/03/2020 10:24

@teaandtantrums90sonoelased you've had some good news.

@Rachael321i know it's scary, but bare in mind that what info they do have on pregnant women does look overwhelmingly positive www.rcog.org.uk/en/guidelines-research-services/guidelines/coronavirus-pregnancy/covid-19-virus-infection-and-pregnancy/. My advice would be to speak to work and see what they can put in place for you. It might be the case of an isolated desk/ workspace for you and they should definitely be looking at alternative work they can give you, preferably from home. Remember that's your employers responsibility to worry about not yours. Try not to panic too much, I know it's difficult.

While it hasn't been a fun couple of days the good news is they're taking action and it's clear that this is consistently being taken seriously by the government.

SunStruck · 17/03/2020 12:19

Suuuuchhhh a relief!!! All went great on my 12 week NT screening today 🥰🥰🥰

Estimated due date 28 September!

These are the risk factors we got:

1:3952 for Downs, 1:9500 for Edwards and 1:20000 for Patau's.

Happy with that for now, our Panorama results will come back next week latest fingers crossed 🤞

Attaching some pictures... the 3D one where the baby is sucking it's thumb and the dangly legs one so cute 🤣🥰

Good luck everyone with your scans this week! I'm so relieved and hope I'll be able to sleep through tonight (been waking up thinking about this for ages every night).

teaandtantrums90 · 17/03/2020 12:34

Thanks everyone :) xx

Knotemma · 17/03/2020 12:58

@SunStruckthose pics are amazing! So pleased you've had a positive scan ☺️

Treaclepie19 · 17/03/2020 13:31

Aww lovely news @SunStruck :)

SammiLou2312 · 17/03/2020 13:32

Great pictures @SunStruck x

TunnocksTcake · 17/03/2020 15:58

@teaandtantrums90 @SunStruck so glad to see such positive scans!
Those 3D ones blow my mind, so cute it's sucking it's thumb in there 😍

SunStruck · 17/03/2020 17:29

Thanks so much ladies! I feel like I can relax for a little bit now... until the NIPT test come back next week 😅 now a month until the 16 week scan - So long!!!!

Rachael321 · 17/03/2020 17:34

To add to today's anxiety I have a missed call from an NHS number and cant figure out who or why!!! Have tried GP, Maternity at hospital, community midwife and physio as they are the only services I'm using and nobody can see why I've been called!

It's a case of they'll phone back if it's important!!

@Avocuddles @Knotemma thanks for the reassurance it's all a bit too much, and too many grey areas for my liking right now. Not helped by the fact that my line manager has been AWFUL at replying to emails or keeping in touch with me in the 6 weeks I've been off for! Guess its wait and see what happens tomorrow when I go in...🙄

Congratulations on the positive scans @SunStruck @teaandtantrums90 always nice having some positive news

MissSparkles81 · 18/03/2020 07:11

Morning everyone so I finally spoke to my manager last night and I have to work from home as much as possible. Part of my role is a specialist nurse so I can do certain parts of my job and colleagues will be sending me stuff to do via email.

Im lucky to have such an understanding manager and team. I 100% know that if I had been in my previous job then this would not be the case.

SunStruck · 18/03/2020 09:32

@MissSparkles81 such a relief you can work from home as much as possible! :)

I am SO happy, our NIPT test results just came back today, and very low risk for everything! Don't know exactly how low as we don't want to know the sex yet, but I'm so relieved everything is looking good so far.

We have a few of our closest friends over for a dinner-party on Friday and we are going to tell them about the pregnancy then (seeing as I've avoided them for 3 months... 😳). We will also have a tiny gender reveal then, I'm so excited! We're getting one of those gender reveal cannons just to use at home 🤣 (we'll let the saleswoman in the baby shop see the NIPT result so she can sell us the right cannon).

TunnocksTcake · 18/03/2020 10:36

@rachael321 how annoying! I hate it when that happens. They could have left a message surely 🙄

@SunStruck woohoo 🥳 that amazing news! Congratulations! I bet you feel so relieved 🥰

I'm 12 weeks today! My last 2 scans have suggested I am actually 2 days ahead of that but I will wait til my NHS scan next week to change the roll call.

It feels so weird to be at this point after so long dreaming about it. Being in lockdown working from home is not how I imagined it happening but hey ho!

I was just thinking I really could have done with this wfh in the first 3 months when I needed regular naps! 😂

Aria2015 · 18/03/2020 20:13

Great news @SunStruck! So pleased for you!

Shefliesonherownwings · 18/03/2020 20:56

Hi all, I need someone to talk me down as my anxiety is through the roof tonight. I'm 6 weeks today and have just had some spotting. The rational side of me knows this can be normal but after losing our daughter at full term last year I'm petrified of something going wrong.

I had some spotting with DD last year, I think at about 6 qeeks and it was all ok, at least in the early weeks. But this time I've had spotting at 4 weeks and again today. It really is just a bit of brown when I wipe but I just can't help the dread that this is all going to go wrong again. I'm not sure I could take it if it does.

We have a private scan booked in for 27th but I'm wondering whether to bring it forward to this saturday. How much could they see by then? I'd be 6+4.

Knotemma · 18/03/2020 21:08

@Shefliesonherownwings, I'm sorry that you're having such a tough day. If you go to your GP they might send you to the epu or do bloods to check your hormone levels. I went at what I though was 6+4 and only measured 5+5, but we still saw a heartbeat on the transvaginal scan. Given your history your go should support you getting checked out. I know it's a horrible feeling, especially waiting around. I've got everything crossed for a positive outcome x
