@Avocuddles happy 12 week day! 😃 my scan is tomorrow 🤞

Yes it is quite insane the world right now - They have taken drastic measurements here. All schools closed until June/July, most people working from home for 2 weeks (god send for me as I'm still feeling nauseous and exhausted), all gyms/events/gatherings/parks etc closed too.

Hopefully it will be better soon. I'm not worried about the healthcare as we are private out here, but I can definitely imagine the worry you guys might have due to NHS being so stretched! Thinking of you all.

How are you feeling? An my more scans apart from myself and @Avocuddles this week?

Treaclepie19 · 16/03/2020 08:05

Just updating me to 11 weeks :)
I'm going stir crazy waiting for my scan. Especially with everything that's going on in the world. 2 weeks and 2 days to go 🙄
Hope all goes well with your scan @SunStruck!

Good luck for today @SunStruck, quite weird for me not to be updating the list today, but with my change of dates I now don't change week until a Wednesday. It was strange not watching my weekly update in bed this morning! However DH is normally home on a Wednesday, so might start watching together. I think I might also start taking bump pictures this week, so that will be easier with him home 😂

Ibaadsmummy · 16/03/2020 11:00

Really struggling with nausea please any advice it's making me so down and finding it hard to care for my 2 year old properly feel like I'm neglecting him..

Knotemma · 16/03/2020 11:21

@Ibaadsmummy, try to eat really plain stuff, white toast, cereal stuff like that. Also try to eat regularly, so you don't get too hungry. I'm finding that if I let myself get hungry it's too late and I'm already in the cycle of nausea and being sick. I've also found fruit smoothies really helpful because I can get some "goodness" into me without too much difficulty. Hope you feelbbetter and are managing to drink plenty. Take care

SammiLou2312 · 16/03/2020 11:57

@Ibaadsmummy I found nibbling on ginger biscuits helped with my nausea. Not sure if it will work for you but ginger has natural anti sickness properties. Hope you find something to help x

Ibaadsmummy · 16/03/2020 12:04

Thank you guys il try it

Scout20 · 16/03/2020 12:05

Hello everyone! Sorry I've been quiet recently, work is full-on. Welcome to all the new ladies, and huge congratulations to everyone who's had positive 12-week scans. What a great milestone, and I hope it's helping you feel at least a little more relaxed.

To the new ladies, including @Charliem11, I'm sorry you find yourselves here. The early weeks are really tough. It's tough to experience symptoms, but possibly even tougher not to have any and to be worrying about what that might mean. Personally I've found scans to be less comfort than someone might expect; once you've experienced a loss you become aware that they're just snapshot in time rather than a guarantee for the future. I know it doesn't help, but the only thing you can do is to just take it a day at a time, and talk to the ladies here if and when you need to.

Like @Avocuddles and @SunStruck I'm now 12 weeks. My 10-week scan was positive, and I have my nuchal scan tomorrow. I'm very lucky to be getting close monitoring, but not necessarily enjoying the frequent hospital trips at the moment...!

seaduck · 16/03/2020 13:54

Hey everyone, hope everyone is well. Love seeing all of the scans and lovely babies. I've been struggling badly with nausea too @Ibaadsmummy, am struggling with everything especially my poor 3 year old.

I have an early scan on Friday, been counting down the days and really hoping it doesn't get cancelled as it's in an NHS hospital in the EPU and I guess non-essential?

Avocuddles · 16/03/2020 18:48

Hi everyone!

So I've now been ordered by work to work from home for three weeks, to be assessed after that. DH has a health condition so is also working from home. It's such a weird time! How are you all feeling about it?

OP posts:
Treaclepie19 · 16/03/2020 18:49

@Avocuddles I'm stressing a bit. I'm not sure what to do. I'm a SAHM so fine to be home, DH can work from home but our 4yo is meant to still go to school. What's the point me trying to distance when he will bring it home anyway? So I'm thinking of keeping him off.

Treaclepie19 · 16/03/2020 18:50

@seaduck I dont think pregnancy scans can be counted as non essential. If something got missed it could be dangerous.

DressingGown87 · 16/03/2020 18:53

I’m at a loss at what to do. I’m a single income household, I can’t really work from home. But then we are now being told to self isolate. I find that I’m having to tell people a lot sooner than I wanted. Today I’m feeling very heavy, cramping, and just like I have a heavy period with no bleeding. I’m going to speak to my consultant on Wednesday, but just feel at a loss.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

didslysquiddlydoo · 16/03/2020 19:20

Hi all, I'm also in the position of not knowing what to do. I just had a slightly earlier than planned 12 week scan today due to more bleeding - thankfully all was great! However that good news has now been squished with the latest news re Covid 19. I work for the NHS and can't work from home - what exactly does this new information mean for those of us who cannot work from home and work in essential areas?

SammiLou2312 · 16/03/2020 19:28

Not going to lie, I'm terrified if I'm honest. I'm lucky in that work said they would allow me to work from home for a couple weeks today as pregnancy is high risk and to put my mind at rest but not sure how long that'll work for. Plus hubby can't keep working from home with me necessarily... I was just getting to the point of not worrying so much about the pregnancy not working and feel like this has pulled the rug out from under me and set mass panic in again! Part of me feels good that they are now recognising pregnant women as a high risk group but now I'm panicking because they've confirmed I'm now higher risk. Just want to sit and cry 😭

seaduck · 16/03/2020 20:14

@Treaclepie19 I agree for the 12 week and 20 week and any growth scans/ones needed for medical reasons, but I think a 9 week one for reassurance like I'm due to have would probably be classed as non essential. I'll ring them later in the week, I've seen on the hospital website they are saying not to bring anyone with you for appointments so does that mean I go alone without my partner?

@DressingGown87 that sounds so tough - are your work able to change your duties to help you reduce contact/risk? They should take it seriously now the advice has changed to include pregnant women. Same for you @didslysquiddlydoo.

Hagster · 16/03/2020 20:15

Totally understandable to be scared @didslysqiddlydoo. I also work for the NHS. In my Trust, high-risk people in roles where you can't work from home are being redeployed to roles where they're at a lower risk of infection, so they're still able to work. People who can't be redeployed are going home but are still being paid for shifts they were booked to do but can't do. I would hope your Trust will take similar steps to support you. Still I'm sorry that they haven't communicated with you, the not knowing must be really hard. Be kind to yourself if you can. x

Avocuddles · 16/03/2020 20:18

@SammiLou2312 your post sums up exactly how I feel right now, at the moment all I can concentrate on is making it to my scan on Thursday but I'm feeling increasingly anxious and paranoid at every cough and sniffle (even though I've been coughing and sniffling for weeks.....). My DU has a heart condition so is in the same boat as me. The prospect of working from home for up to 12 weeks is incredibly depressing but all I want is for is to all be healthy.....

Aria2015 · 16/03/2020 20:30

Dh and I are both working from home for the foreseeable but my 4yo goes to school so could pick something up. We're lucky that our jobs can be done from home. There aren't many cases where I live but that can quickly change, plus they've barely tested anyone so I suppose we don't really know how many cases there are. Such a strange time. It feels like something out of a film. Feel selfish for saying it, but I can't help but feel gutted that I have this to worry about on top of the worries caused by my previous losses.

Treaclepie19 · 16/03/2020 20:31

@seaduck I'd ring them and check. I know some hospitals are saying that.

I'm really not sure what to do with our 4 year old. I think I may keep him home.

TunnocksTcake · 16/03/2020 20:51

It's all got a bit serious hasn't it?! I work in events for a small company and we have had so many cancelled or postponed, I'm scared I won't have a job for much longer. Before we left work today we had a scary meeting where the directors basically said that they are doing all they can to stay open but can't guarantee anything.
After seeing the update from Boris I then had to tell my boss I'm pregnant and they have said I can work from home and will bring my computer to me so that's the best I could ask for really. Had to tell them earlier than I would have naturally but it's for my own sake.

Knotemma · 16/03/2020 20:56

I know it all seems like doom and gloom, but they're doing it for the right reason. I'm lucky enough to be able to work from home, but I'm not sure what I'll be doing as it's looking increasingly likely that our current project will be put on hold. I work in the water industry and all our key people that we need for decision making are understandably being diverted to keep the water flowing while this is happening.

Here is a really good article from new scientist, which was published today and has a really good summary of the risks to pregnant women, as they know them know. While there aren't a lot of cases the outcomes have been in the majority positive. I hope it will give you all some reassurance at what I know is a really unnerving time xx

www.newscientist.com/article/2237352-coronavirus-what-we-know-so-far-about-risks-to-pregnancy-and-babies/

SammiLou2312 · 16/03/2020 20:56

@Treaclepie19 you have to do what you can to keep safe. It does strike me as strange that the government is advocating working from home and minimising contact yet haven't closed schools...

@Avocuddles it just seems so unfair that we have to deal with this on top of everything else. But...I have now had a little bit of time to calm down and can think along the lines of nothing worthwhile comes easily. It will all be worth it in the end.

Keep safe everyone xx
