Wine is the only thing I’m upset about/missing. I don’t even need a full glass; just a few sips from time to time would be wonderful.

ACatCalledLola · 06/03/2020 20:39

I’ll definitely be going for an elective c-section. The last two were c-sections and my elective one was a lovely relaxing experience. They usually do it at 39 weeks which will mean a Halloween baby but not sure how it works with that being a Saturday this year. I have a gp appointment on Monday so need to decide which hospital I want over the weekend.
Still feeling very anxious here but the cramps have died down and I have bad nausea which is hopefully a good sign. By the time I’ve cooked dinner for the dc I can only face a bowl of cereal for myself.

ParisInTheSpringtime · 06/03/2020 20:57

@eleanorsos @LexieBB I’m having a small glass of wine every couple of weeks. Fully prepared for the mumsnet flaming.

I’m also not really giving up any foods - just being a bit careful about quality and cooking of them.

LexieBB · 06/03/2020 21:11

@ParisInTheSpringtime no flaming from me. My gyn gave me the ok to do the same yesterday but I’m still doing research into it and want to go over it with my actual obgyn in a couple of weeks before I decide.

I’ll likely go with the “sip, swish, savor and spit” method to get my fix. (Yes I just coined that. 😉).

We’ll see.

Whoamieven · 06/03/2020 22:34

@HarrietM87 yep he was defo back to back, as soon as I felt him turn he was born rapidly after that! So it was all positioning. They wanted to induce me to ensure I was in hospital, I said no. Both my babies were 11 and 12 days 'overdue', I let them cook till they were ready!
I wouldn't want a home birth, totally personal choice, I think they are awesome though, but I know all I could think of was neighbours and if the midwife parked ok in the street and if she needed a wee would she know where to go in the house etc 😂

Whoamieven · 06/03/2020 22:35

I'm 5 weeks today, had a Couple of days of nausea creeping in and exhausted and now that's gone again. As well as boobs not so sore. I'm half convinced this is another miscarriage :/

Sakura54 · 06/03/2020 23:24

@eleanorsos nah count yourselves lucky. I had to give up sugar, cake, sweet drinks, amongst other food due to gestational diabetes and doing other torturous stuff that goes along with it. Highly likely I have it again...now that’s tough! Not to mention my other pregnancy issues. I had to tell my GP so that they are aware that this is a high risk case lol! Hoping to have better luck this time... :(

NoseringGirl · 06/03/2020 23:32

@Sakura54 I've had two GD pregnancies, I'm already eating the diet this time. I managed to keep my readings below targets all the way through last time and hoping to do that again. Hard work though!

Sakura54 · 06/03/2020 23:47

Ahh horrible. Did you do the GTT test early the 2nd time you got pregnant yeah? Tbh the constant finger pricking was the worst thing for me. Plus the fact that my readings were never even high so I felt like it was pointless.

Sakura54 · 07/03/2020 00:03

@ACatCalledLola yeah it will be Oct for me too. I hope I get to experience a nice ELCS this time. Was meant to have one last time, but ended up with a EMCS instead! Takes the piss when you didn’t think you’d have to go through labour pains lol!

NoseringGirl · 07/03/2020 06:45

@Sakura54 yes I did it at 13 weeks the second time so I had 29 weeks of finger pricks. Not a single high reading though! All going well, I'm not going to do the GTT this time and will go straight to finger pricking. I'm hoping that if I have the same again with no high readings, they'll treat me as non diabetic! All very far away though so trying not to get ahead of myself!

ohiwishyouwerehere · 07/03/2020 07:25

Im so confused right now- my ob doctor told me to not take pregnacare and to only take folic acid as a single dose whereas everything else I've read has told me to take the pregnacare.
I've just been to the pharmacist to get some strepsils, asked if they were ok during pregnancy and was told I can't have the orange and vitamin c one (can cause early contractions???!) and not to take the ginger one for the same reasons and to have absolutely no ginger when everything I've read has told me ginger is good for sickness and to have it? Why is it all so contradictory??

SqidgeBum · 07/03/2020 07:39

@ohiwishyouwerehere you will find a huge amount of contradicting information throughout pregnancy. I have no idea why you wouldnt take pregnacare (other than I know many cheaper brands that do just the same thing), and everyone eats ginger-based things when they are pregnant! These days there are a million things you 'shouldnt' do during pregnancy which you try not to do on your first baby and then crack and do anyway, and then dont bother worrying about on your second haha. I would stick with the basics; try stay away from regularly taking paracetamol, dont take ibuprofen (its a blood thinner and can cause problems with the placenta), dont drink a lot of alcohol (a half glass every few months wont cause damage), and generally try to eat well (well cooked food, healthy, not a lot of sugar). Thats it. Oh, and take everything people say about 'dont do this, dont do that' with a pinch of salt. If a medical professional says it, ask why and then do a quick google search, but common sense must also prevail (eg ginger is in a lot of stuff so it cant be that dangerous). Its a minefield trying to navigate it, and its all about making you feel guilty for not being perfect for your baby, which is impossible. Its hard to ignore it.

Hi got my bfp a few days ago some what of a surprise but due around the 5th.

Busybee143 · 07/03/2020 08:03

@Whoamieven feeling the same if im honest but trying to stay positive

Louise24902 · 07/03/2020 08:16

Just wanted to say thank you to those who helped yesterday with my CB digital question.

Unfortunately I spent the night at the hospital and have miscarried but thank you and I hope you all have healthy babies☺️

HarrietM87 · 07/03/2020 08:21

@Louise24902 I’m so sorry to hear that. I’ve been there myself and it’s horrible but things will get better I promise.

@Whoamieven and @Busybee143 me too. I’ve had 4 losses, 3 before my son and 1 after. The treatment I had with my son didn’t work for the one I had after him, though I didn’t start it early enough and it could have been a “normal” chromosomal mc. But it means I have little confidence for this pregnancy which is desperately wanted. Only time will tell.

Sakura54 · 07/03/2020 08:22

@NoseringGirl that’s the thing, surely for us, cutting out sugar and moving around after meals solves the problem?! All I did was stop sugar and even after a greasy kebab, my reading was fine lol. It was nice to have extra scans though, although DS was nowhere near huge, tiny even. Were your DC too big too soon? It’s good that testing your blood sugar doesn’t bother you. I’m going to somehow find a way to avoid it

ParisInTheSpringtime · 07/03/2020 08:25

@Louise24902 so sorry to hear that. Take care of yourself x

NoseringGirl · 07/03/2020 09:02

@Louise24902 I'm so sorry to hear that Thanks

@Sakura54 oh no, I definitely hate doing the finger pricks, I get so sick of it!! My babies were quite little really, 6lb 3oz and 7lb 2oz! I'm the same as you and managed to tolerate a lot quite well last time. I could eat things like pizza and pasta though I always made sure I paired it well enough.
