Did anyone get their BFP recently? I got mine last night so I think I'm 4 weeks 1 day today and still very much in shock, according to apps my due date would be October 30th.

Hey ladies how we all doing?
Confused about how far along I actually am either 5+4 or 5 have my first midwife appointment on Wednesday so hopefully she can shed some light on how far I am Haha
Feeling so sick and so sleepy but that's about it tbf feel like I'm going along quite nicely!!
Have people started telling people yet?

KitKatKit · 01/03/2020 10:09

@Eatsleepbakerepeat same here, I'm questioning my dates but dont have my booking in til 11th March, so will confirm then.

Does anybody know how my first scan gets arranged? Is it off the back of the booking in appointment? Does the midwife trigger something?! Any guidance appreciated as I have no idea!

1990shopefulftm · 01/03/2020 10:21

@kitkatkit my booking appointment letter says the midwife books it when you attend that, which as I think i m 9 +6 on that day I m wondering if my scan is going to be after the 12-week point.

I've not found a date that works well to have a private scan but considering my nhs one might end up being late I might try to convince DH to drive me to a clinic as the one in our city doesn't have many decent timed appointments.

@Eatsleepbakerepeat only DH knows, going to tell work in a couple of weeks which I wanted to avoid but couldn't change my booking appointment to one of the days I had booked off.

@Danielle95lab I've started getting quite bad cramps and my nausea has subsided so swings and roundabouts Smile

roarfeckingroar · 01/03/2020 10:51

Regarding putting on weight, I'm quite small (

roarfeckingroar · 01/03/2020 10:54

@ablisha sounds tough but I don't think you have to give it up altogether. I don't drink coffee or fizzy drinks but still mainlining Yorkshire tea.

1990shopefulftm · 01/03/2020 11:05

@roarfeckingroar, i m a little bit taller than you but sound's like we're a similar size. I have a fast metabolism but the only exercise i get is walking which I plan to do the same until I can't do it anymore.

I m pretty much just eating when I m hungry but trying not to keep too many unhealthy snacks in. I've already accepted my body probably won't be the same after pregnancy but i m seeing it as a good thing.

Only thing I m a little worried about is i m a 32d which is awkward to find cheap bra's for and if my boobs go up a couple of sizes it's going to be even harder to get them i think.

roarfeckingroar · 01/03/2020 11:08

@1990shopefulftm Ha! 32DD here, I feel your pain! Already slipping into E territory. I walk everywhere, minimum of 10km a day, plus hot yoga twice and body pump once a week. I think I'm going to have to cut down a bit. Oh this is going to be fun isn't it. Let's be buddies.

1990shopefulftm · 01/03/2020 11:40

@roarfeckingroar I walk about 2 miles a day really, which I know isn't much. I had knee cap problems which I did physio to correct whilst ttcing so couldn't do much more exercise without pain.
I work in an office, which means it's not too bad with pregnancy symptoms but I get no exercise there.

Maybe there's some pregnancy yoga groups near you you could join.

I'm a size 8 at the moment with some tshirts being tight on me but who knows if I end up a 32e if size 8 maternity clothes will end up fitting.

I’m only little too! At 5ft2 (and a quarter 😂) size 8/10! I had just taken up jogging 5k, 3/4 times a week, have a treadmill at home which I also use, and plate. But I’ve just had no energy! Would walk but it’s always pitch black when I get home, and the roads aren’t lit! Hoping I can get back into a routine at some point, to try maintain my fitness.

I also work in an office, so don’t do much during the day.

My cramps come and go, mainly after I’ve eaten, and when I wake up.

Trying to keep busy today, but feel full of a cold! So I’m doing paperwork 🙄 to keep my mind off the scan in the morning x

roarfeckingroar · 01/03/2020 12:51

@1990shopefulftm @DressingGown87 I love walking. I go a bit crazy if I'm not outside a lot. WFH two days a week helps too. It's a pain that you're back and it's dark but that should change soon!

I'm in a really precarious position at work - FTC contract ending in July - that my boss and I are keen to extend but depends on the business, so a bit of anxiety there.

1990shopefulftm · 01/03/2020 12:58

@roarfeckingroar if you ve been there a few months already it should be long enough you d still have a mat pay entitlement if the contract ended.

OP posts:
roarfeckingroar · 01/03/2020 13:05

@1990shopefulftm really?? I hope so. I also want a permanent contract because I love the job, love my team, well paid and flexible... I'm going to give it another month at least while my boss is trying to sort it with HR in the background and reassess then. No point worrying about what you cannot control.

Flora20 · 01/03/2020 13:14

@Danielle95lab Hope the cramps ease off again for you. I've not had any more but dizziness and nausea is taking off. Although 2 year old hasn't slept well for a week so exhaustion probably isn't helping.

@roarfeckingroar That's horrible timing for you. Have you anything in your current contact about maternity details?

1990shopefulftm · 01/03/2020 13:16

@roarfeckingroar worst case scenario you'd get maternity allowance which is a similar allowance.

Hello! Bit late to the party but I've only recently found out I am pregnant (20th Feb was the day my jaw hit the floor) and the app I'm using says I'm due on 31st October. This will be our first baby and we conceived him/her through IUI after two years TTC. Couldn't be happier....except....I feel nauseous 100% of the time (haven't actually puked yet, thank goodness) and the only thing that helps is lying down (which isn't helpful when you're also trying to move house!). Anyone have any good home remedies? I've heard antihistamines help, but ALL the packets say not to take them if you're expecting. Congratulations to all of you and I hope we all have happy, healthy little Halloween pumpkins come the end of October!

1990shopefulftm · 01/03/2020 13:36

well i ve booked an early scan for the 21st of March, when i ll be 8 weeks, turned into a day trip with DH as the nearest place with an appointment was 20 miles away as they're all booked in my city.

my mum went through an mc at 10 weeks when I was a teenager so I've decided for peace of mind I don't want to wait past 12 weeks to see they baby fine, i know something could go wrong between 8 weeks and past 12 weeks but it would be nice to have seen them once if something did.

OP posts:
roarfeckingroar · 01/03/2020 13:52

@Flora20 @1990shopefulftm if I've been there for 26 weeks before the 15th week before my EDD I get 6 months full pay then a reduced rate. All well and hood but I can't work out of it applies when I may have left.
Things are going really well so far so hopefully I'll get a permanent or extended contract but it's tricky not knowing.

roarfeckingroar · 01/03/2020 13:53

@BoopsBoops87 welcome and congratulations! How are you feeling?

I would avoid taking medication if you can avoid it, but that's based on zero science!

roarfeckingroar · 01/03/2020 13:55

@1990shopefulftm that will be a lovely day. I have a scan booked in Harley St for the 13th so DP is taking the day off and we are going to make a day of it, have dinner in town after, marvel at the scan photo (hoping all is ok) then it's his birthday the next day! Then my dad's the week after, then mine. Big month, March Grin

1990shopefulftm · 01/03/2020 13:58

@roarfeckingroar, it's understandable to be concerned about being in limbo with it.
Would making a budget/plan of sorts for if it ended up being statutory make things feel less worrying?

OP posts:
roarfeckingroar · 01/03/2020 14:08

@1990shopefulftm I think for now I'm going to just crack on at work as if nothing has changed and try to get the contract sorted. I'll be fine either way, just would obviously rather have the money and a job to go back to.

1990shopefulftm · 01/03/2020 14:13

@roarfeckingroar sounds like a lovely day out :) hopefully everything works out with your work. there's a few march birthdays in my family too including mine and my mums.
I d always hoped I d be pregnant before my 25 th birthday so got there pretty close. Not sure if I ll be telling my mum about baby on her birthday as of yet, it's her 50th and I m wondering if the news she's going to be a grandmother will make her feel older.

OP posts:
roarfeckingroar · 01/03/2020 14:25

@1990shopefulftm I assumed you were nearer 30 because of your username.

I'm sorely tempted to tell my Dad on his birthday. It'll be a week after the private scan so a copy in his card.

Flora20 · 01/03/2020 14:29

@BoopsBoops87 Welcome! Ginger biscuits, fennel tea and travel bands were the most effective for me last time.
