Did anyone get their BFP recently? I got mine last night so I think I'm 4 weeks 1 day today and still very much in shock, according to apps my due date would be October 30th.

Hi everyone, thought I'd come along for the ride if that's ok. Only other October thread id found before was about a Facebook group so I'm happy if people are just chatting on here. I'm due 20 Oct at the moment (I don't think that should change but Im predicting some different date after the scan like with my first) and just had booking apt this morning. Hope everyone is feeling ok.

LadyB90 · 23/03/2020 12:38

@DressingGown87

I've literally been living in a onesie because it's so comfy right now. I haven't put on any weight because I've had quite bad morning sickness, but I'm sure when that eases off I'll be back to stuffing my face! How are you feeling today?

LadyB90 · 23/03/2020 12:40

@professorastrocat

Welcome and congratulations! I only joined the chat yesterday. My due date is October 27th but as you say might well change after first scan! Did you go in for your booking appointment or was it done over the phone? Mine is next Monday.

Mc3209 · 23/03/2020 13:04

This week morning sickness has kicked in. Thankfully I am not barfing, but the nausea is definitely here for past few days.
Got my Harmony screen in 3 weeks, I am hoping I will breathe easier if that comes back as all clear. It cannot come fast enough.

@professorastrocat Welcome Smile

professorastrocat · 23/03/2020 13:25

Thanks @LadyB90 and @Mc3209.

I had my apt this morning in person @LadyB90 but was told my 16 week one would be over the phone.

@Mc3209 hope the sickness isn't too bad. I've had nausea since week 5 I can't wait for it to do one 🤞🤞

KitKatKit · 23/03/2020 16:27

Hey gang, checking in after a few days out.
Is anyone actively isolating? I returned from abroad on the weekend and am definitely isolating for a few weeks at least. My constant nausea lasted from week 5 to 8 and still hasn'treturned which is slightly worrying, but just waiting til my scan on 8th April. Crossing fingers all is okay.

@mc3209 sorry to hear your nausea has kicked in, I was getting through a lot of crackers with small amounts of cheddar, and bananas helped too. Hang in there!

@LadyB90 and @professorastrocat Welcome both Grin

1990shopefulftm · 23/03/2020 17:23

@DressingGown87 they were very surprised but I m now hopefully the next person to get to work from home as they can't get everybody set up at once, so I m carefully still going to work but hopefully not for much longer.
I wore a maternity top I got second hand today (couldn't tell it's not new really) and got through work with a bit more comfort as it's not tight round my stomach, so I m going back on eBay later to see what I can find. I m a size 8 and doubting I ll go back to it after pregnancy but I m at peace with it.

Does anybody else on here work in a hospital?

On the government list we are classed as at risk... however when I speak with work there telling me there’s no evidence to say I’m at a higher risk than anybody else. There just saying it’s pregnant women in their 3rd trimester.

I’m getting so stressed over it, my family and close friends who know are messaging me constantly saying I shouldn’t be at work... but then work are telling me that I need to be there.

Was supposed to have my first midwife appointment on Wednesday which is now only going to be a phone call, do you think she will be able to advise?

Mc3209 · 23/03/2020 18:28

@Jaffas22 I do, usually do patient facing stuff in a relatively niche subspecialty. It's very Trust specific at the moment I am afraid. I am still at home with amended duties and off on call rota, but unfortunately this might change as my Trust is reviewing the most recent guidelines.
Yes, it's very strange that non clinical pregnant women are high risk and advised to isolate and the moment you work for healthcare it's suddenly ok to go into the epicentre of COVID.

professorastrocat · 23/03/2020 18:32

That sounds stressful @Jaffas22 . I don't think there's any general guidance about social distancing that's different depending on what stage you're at but I do remember reading something about pre and post 28 weeks yesterday - if my brain will engage I'll try and remember where it was!

At my midwife appointment today she just said we're advising all pregnant ladies to adhere to social distancing, work from home wherever possible and avoid going places like the busy shops where possible.

Jaffas22 · 23/03/2020 18:41

@Mc3209 I couldn’t agree more! I have a few pregnant friends and they have all got really understanding employers and have been sent home with pay even if they are unable to work from home ... yet the nhs expect me to go, to still see patients, even when we cover the wards with COVID positive patients .. it just doesn’t add up. It’s not me I’m worried about I’d be the first there to help where needed but the thought of possibly putting my baby at harm when I’m not even in the ‘safe’ 12 week stage absolutely terrifies me!

@professorastrocat yes I think there is something about pre and post 28 weeks, I’ll have to try find it

Mc3209 · 23/03/2020 18:53

It's in the guidelines published by RCOG on Saturday: before 28 weeks and no other health problems - can still go to work with usual risk assessment and practice social distancing; after 28 weeks - advised to stay at home/work from home. And if course pregnant women (any trimester) with cardiac problems.

Mc3209 · 23/03/2020 19:01

Oops, didn't finish my last thought: pregnant women in any trimester with cardiac problems need to stay home for 12 weeks.

professorastrocat · 23/03/2020 19:04

That's where I saw it @Mc3209

Mc3209 · 23/03/2020 21:28

On a completely different note, I was inspired by you gals to bake and decided to bake bread in the oven today. I've done that before with normal flour, but this time I found some strange gluten flour in the cupboard (which I wrongly assumed would be similar to normal flour, albeit maybe "stronger"). Well, I've made a perfectly aromatic crusty piece of rubber. I don't think I've even imagined one can make bread this chewy. Goodness me.

Flora20 · 24/03/2020 07:35

Hi all, just popping in for the first time in a few days! It's been a crazy week hasn't it?! I've been working from home since Thursday, I'm relieved to be at home but also moments of feeling guilty that I'm not part of the rota system at school when everything's so up in the air.

On the plus side my nausea has pretty much gone as long as we eat dinner by half 4, still going to bed by 8 but otherwise feeling pretty good! 10 weeks yesterday...

LadyB90 · 24/03/2020 08:01

@Flora20

Hello! I'm a teacher too so definitely empathising with you on this one. Feel I should be helping but we've got to put ourselves first at the moment haven't we! I've been working from home since last week too. I'm a week behind you so it's good to know you are feeling less sick! Hoping that will be me soon. How have you been sleeping? I'm exhausted but can't seem to sleep. All the virus stuff probably isn't helping either I guess.

@Mc3209
Your description of your bread made me laugh!

1990shopefulftm · 24/03/2020 17:29

its my birthday on thursday and normally I would go out for a meal with DH and as it's my last birthday before I'm going to be a mum, i m trying not to letting staying indoors ruin it.
So sending DH to Asda tomorrow to try and find things to make a nice meal out of, surely no one has panic bought a birthday cake.

DressingGown87 · 24/03/2020 20:52

Welcome @professorastrocat

@Mc3209 how’s the sickness? I read that document too, and thought so does this only apply to third trimester. My midwife called today though, and said I need to be carefully because of my prescription existing medical conditions. So I’m staying in, not even going to the shops, until my scan on the 1st.

@kitkat hope you had a nice holiday! My sickness hasn’t occurred since week 6 and I’m nearly 10 now. So I wouldn’t worry too much.

@1990shopefulftm glad they took it well, so you feel a bit better now? Hopefully they will have you set up to work from home soon! Aww hopefully we will be allowed out before the babies come. I think asda May have some birthday cakes! Providing you don’t mind paw patrol or something!

I’m going to bake rice crispi marshmallow cake tomorrow, all for me! However the cereal is a two weeks out of date, but I’m sure it will be ok 🙈

Mc3209 · 24/03/2020 21:16

@DressingGown87 I actually don't feel like a roadkill today. Eating loads of beige food and avoiding perfume is keeping things under control. I usually wear perfume all the time, even if I don't leave the house (make up on the other hand I am not too fussed with, I put it on if I feel like it).

You have to let us know how your cake goes tomorrow! Sounds yum.

Mc3209 · 24/03/2020 21:17

@DressingGown87 I've lost my manners! Thank you for asking 😘

Applesandlemons · 24/03/2020 21:20

@1990shopefulftm I saw some cakes in Morrison’s last week so you may be in luck! Hope you get something :)

DressingGown87 · 24/03/2020 21:23

@Mc3209 I feel lucky I’ve not had nauseous, I just feel so weak and dizzy in the evenings, after my bloods been thinned. So I’ve got make sure I’ve eaten beforehand, which has completely wrecked my normal feeding times! Glad your feeling better though, and managing to control it. On the plus side Atleast we don’t have to leave the house when feeling like this. X

roarfeckingroar · 24/03/2020 21:43

Happy birthday @1990shopefulftm it's mine on Saturday, we were supposed to be going to Italy, then Cornwall, now lucky to make it to the park :(.

roarfeckingroar · 24/03/2020 21:44

@DressingGown87 marshmallow cake I WANT THIS !! Amazing idea
