Did anyone get their BFP recently? I got mine last night so I think I'm 4 weeks 1 day today and still very much in shock, according to apps my due date would be October 30th.

@DressingGown87

Thanks and congratulations to you too! I'm also new to the website so getting to grips with how to use it 😬

Don't be lonely, that's what these forums are for, especially now when we are all stuck in we need to support each other virtually and we'll all get through it together. Congrats on the scan btw! I haven't had one yet but my scan date is April 15th.

roarfeckingroar · 22/03/2020 10:29

Welcome @LadyB90 !

I'm finding the isolation not too bad. My doula sent me a beautiful video her colleagues made about appreciating the chance to just be; to sit within yourself quietly and observe how you feel and your own strength. That coupled with yoga, meditation and group calls with friends is keeping me sane.

@DressingGown87 absolutely get you with waking up early. I think it's just the lack of alcohol again though for me as previously I was out most nights.

Work is absolutely crazy busy at the moment and I'm not looking forward to another 14 hour day kicking off tomorrow.

1990shopefulftm · 22/03/2020 12:16

It's felt great having people know now, but telling my work tomorrow is making me very anxious. Think i m going to do some baking as that always calms me down.

@1990shopefulftm
How far along are you? I keep debating about whether to tell people! Especially with everyone shut in at the moment it feels like a good time to share the news, but originally I'd thought id wait until 12 week scan. Keep changing my mind!

roarfeckingroar · 22/03/2020 13:57

I'm a step closer to a permanent contract and hopefully will be able to get it sorted in the next two weeks - then will tell work as it'll be 12/13 weeks.

1990shopefulftm · 22/03/2020 14:13

@LadyB90, 8 weeks and 2 days. I had a private scan yesterday so I told people after that, I have my booking appointment a week Thursday (no idea if it would now be over the phone though, which I would mind as i m sure my BP is fine and if they need bloods then i could ask when the quiet time is at the hospital clinic down the road) and I m meant to be working so I can't leave it too much longer.

The baking plan has not gone well, I d forgotten DH had left some oven trays into clean in a plastic bag last night, there's plastic now melted in the oven, and normally I'd be right in there fixing it, but with the fumes probably not a good idea.

OP posts:
Mc3209 · 22/03/2020 14:31

@1990shopefulftm I would either ask DH to deal with the melted chaos or wait until it cools down and try to scrape it off later 😬

@LadyB90 would it make a difference in your job if you tell your employer before 12 weeks? If not then I'd leave it, but if it would mean safer conditions for you then go for it.

1990shopefulftm · 22/03/2020 14:38

@Mc3209 DH is letting it cool down then hopefully he can undo the damage I've done.

OP posts:
DressingGown87 · 22/03/2020 16:35

@1990shopefulftm oh dear! Let him deal with it. I’m sure the baking will be good in the end. I’ve also got some stuff so I can bake, and fatten myself up on cakes! But realised I have no eggs!

@LadyB90 hopefully it will come around quick, my 12week one is on the 14th. Not sure if I’m going to want to go to my 10 weeks one on the 1st, feels risky going to the hospital.

@roarfeckingroar it’s weird, I use to rely on alarm clocks. And now when I don’t need to, I’m awake!

I’ve spent today in the garden! Think it’s done me some good! Worried about running out of clothes that will fit...

LadyB90 · 22/03/2020 16:44

@1990shopefulftm
Ah ok!
That sucks about the baking, deffo leave your OH to clean it up if he's willing!

@Mc3209
I've already told my boss at work and she was really understanding luckily. It's more friends and family I can't decide whether to tell or wait until after 12 week scan.

@DressingGown87
What's your due date? We must be similar. My 12 week is the 15th, and my 10 week booking in with midwife is on the 30th. Im hoping that I can do the 10 week one over the phone as I agree with you I want to avoid the hospital if possible!

Mc3209 · 22/03/2020 17:08

@LadyB90 what does you gut feeling tell you? I've ended up telling most of my close friends after I had to tell work. And my parents knew pretty much on the day I got a positive test 😬 I am terrible at holding that in 😂

1990shopefulftm · 22/03/2020 17:18

@DressingGown87 have you got any sunflower or vegetable oil? you can use that instead of eggs.
I've been getting maternity clothes off eBay and although they are very baggy at the moment, i think in a couple of weeks they will come in handy.
I don't know exactly where your appointment is but if its any comfort, the critical care ward is in a separate building to the maternity unit.

@LadyB90 he's cleaned it up for me now so the cake is hopefully saved. I went with telling friends and family as if something went wrong which it's a relatively low chance then i would want to tell them but I had a private scan yesterday so visually got see that everything was fine, I wouldn't have told people without the scan.

LadyB90 · 22/03/2020 18:08

@1990shopefulftm

Glad the cake crisis is averted!
Ah yeah that does make sense, I didn't book any early scans of anything so have to wait for the 12 week one annoyingly! Im regretting not booking an earlier one now, it must be really reassuring to see that everything is okay

Mc3209 · 22/03/2020 19:02

I am so bloated today it's unreal. Maternity leggings are awesome, even if baby bump is not visible yet, accommodates the bloat beautifully Grin

1990shopefulftm · 22/03/2020 19:38

Just had a cry on DH, terrified about telling work tommorow. He s an optimist and says we ll manage even if I get sent home without pay and we might be able to get a mortgage holiday, I m too scared to do the maths.

OP posts:
roarfeckingroar · 22/03/2020 19:50

He sounds lovely @1990shopefulftm . Good luck, let us know how it goes. It's a scary conversation I'm putting off myself.

Glad crisis has been averted @DressingGown87 . I've managed to make tea without a tea bag and go for a wee then throw the tissue on the floor today without realising for a few minutes. Blaming hormones.

Mc3209 · 22/03/2020 20:04

@1990shopefulftm Lots of hugs your way. Everything will work out ok, hun. Good luck for tomorrow!

DressingGown87 · 22/03/2020 20:26

@1990shopefulftm I know it’s completely seperate area, just worried about being in the hospital I suppose, but needs must, and I know they will be taking lots of precautions. I’m not that great at baking, so it’s a Betty Crocker mix 🙈 the eggs I had weren't ‘red lion’ so I have them to my neighbour.

I’m just wary of buying maternity clothes at the minute, I think if my next scan is ok, I will get some leggings online.

@MC3209 I’m due on the 23rd October, what about you? I’ve told my employer, work colleagues (small office) mum, sister, close friends and neighbour. But they all know I’m high risk, and that I’ve had recurrent misscarriage. So I think I needed the support network, especially with the current epidemic.

DressingGown87 · 22/03/2020 20:29

@roarfeckingroar (hadn’t updates when I just posted) haha we can blame hormones for everything right now. I didn’t think baby brain started so early on?

@1990shopefulftm don’t get upset, they can’t discriminate against you for being pregnant. In this current climate, you have to put you and the baby first. I think everyone can get a mortgage holiday at the minute for 3 months so don’t worry.

roarfeckingroar · 22/03/2020 20:47

@DressingGown87 I'm blaming baby for everything, from my brain not functioning to me being insanely gassy Grin

Mc3209 · 22/03/2020 20:50

@DressingGown87 I am due on 31st Oct, so I am really jumping the gun with mat clothes. Got the leggings approx 2 weeks ago (and my DH is making fun of me wearing them). I am slightly paranoid that delivery services from clothes stores might stop and I wouldn't fit into anything when the bump grows, so I got few pants/dresses just in case. That's my problem, it's either all or nothing 😂
But I am determined not to buy anything for the baby until few weeks until delivery (should everything go to plan, fingers crossed).

Mc3209 · 22/03/2020 20:51

@roarfeckingroar my brain has exited the building few weeks ago. I feel you on this one!

roarfeckingroar · 22/03/2020 21:29

@Mc3209 I've only had to buy massive bras so far, my body hasn't changed otherwise (10+5) and I reckon I can get away with the same clothes for a good few months. I'm way too nervous to buy baby related things in case it jinxes it. My brain no longer works! I also can't balance. It's making work and yoga quite eventful Grin

Mc3209 · 22/03/2020 21:37

@roarfeckingroar my balance is off too! I've done vinyasa yoga for a while but I am struggling to get through my usual work outs (before the whole COVID rubbish getting through my usual yoga class was hard work, when before pregnancy it was just fine) and now I had to slow things down for my at home practice. I get out of breath when walking up the stairs these days 😬 Also terrified of putting on weight, I haven't so far, but I've sort of made peace with the reality that I will. One day at a time.

DressingGown87 · 23/03/2020 12:18

@Mc3209 I’m the same, I’m worried that I won’t have anything to wear! And will end up living in my dressing gown or some of my ex’s T-shirt’s (which I’ve not yet got rid of) 🙄 I’ve not put on too much weight so far, but can see the lack of leaving the house, eating and pregnancy changing that.

@1990shopefulftm hope it’s gone ok with work today!

How’s everyone feeling?
