Did anyone get their BFP recently? I got mine last night so I think I'm 4 weeks 1 day today and still very much in shock, according to apps my due date would be October 30th.

@ablisha woooooh!!!! Excellent news!!

@Frankincense88 fingers crossed for you tomorrow.

I've had some pretty heavy duty cramps today but no bleeding and I'm hoping all is ok.

1990shopefulftm · 17/03/2020 18:48

@DressingGown87 thank you. I do think it's a bit behind here compared to other areas as some people seem to mention having booking appointments earlier, if it means there are more babies in our area at the moment it's a good thing there's plenty of schools.

I have been lurking for a while, just reading over past few weeks. Had my early private scan at 7 weeks on the dot, which was few days ago, all looked well, saw the heartbeat which was magical. I tend to swing from anxiety to reassurance, and now in a sort of a wobble place as had some cramps in the last few days and had to properly announce at work (with this whole COVID19 business) which I wouldn't have dreamt of doing this early in normal circumstances. I have already told my direct manager before due to occupational exposure, but now the fact that everyone knows unnerves me.

DressingGown87 · 18/03/2020 08:25

@mc3209 congratulations on your scan. It’s such an anxious time already, and the current situation is making it even harder. I’ve had to tell my mum and other family members who I wouldn’t have told at this stage. We can just try and take as many precautions as possible.

@1990shopefulftm it does seem we have a high birth rate at the minute, I will speak to the hospital today and see if they are running behind on 12week scans.

@roarfeckingroar Hope your ok. I think cramps are quite common, as everything is expanding! I get them in waves, but sometimes I think they are indigestion 🙈

roarfeckingroar · 18/03/2020 12:05

@Mc3209 it's wonderful seeing the heartbeat isn't it

@DressingGown87 my little manatee has now entered week 10 so it's a foetus not an embryo and cramps are common so I'm hoping all is fine. Looking forward to next scan in 2 weeks.

DressingGown87 · 18/03/2020 14:02

I’ve had my latest scan and all is fine, dates are on track now, and there was a heartbeat. I’m always shocked when I see it. Got one more scan and then my screening scan.

@1990shopefulftm I’ve spoke to RPH about the scan, (sent you a PM with the details).

HelenMarie1001 · 18/03/2020 14:09

For those that work at a school it may be worth telling HR. I am only 8 weeks but told HR due to Coronavirus and they sent me home yesterday (along with other pregnant women and those whose partners are pregnant) and said they don't expect me back for 12 weeks unless the government change their plans Smile

Mc3209 · 18/03/2020 16:50

Day 1 working from home for me, so far it's not as bad as I anticipated! The only thing I find the pregnancy mental fog quite frustrating. That took me by surprise, was expecting the other bits like nausea and sore boobs, but was really taken aback by how my brain just made an exit after BFP. And exhaustion. At least now I can take naps. It's good to think of positive things in this doom and gloom.

1990shopefulftm · 18/03/2020 17:24

@MC3209 I don't have nausea at all, been tired since about 5 weeks which I wasn't expecting.

Hey, who was organising a Facebook group on here?

AdventureAhead · 18/03/2020 20:36

I usually work from home fairly regularly (one or two days a week) but it's been very odd having my husband working at home with me (squabbles over who gets to work where) and i think it will feel very odd when I've worked at home for a solid week and it sinks in that this is life from now on.
I had my booking in appointment today. Midwife was really lovely and it was great to have the chance to ask a few questions that have been on my mind. Still don't think I fully believe that I'm pregnant. I feel tired a lot of the time and a little "odd" but still haven't had any nausea or other symptoms. Very much looking forward to my 12 week scan, hoping I get a letter through the post very soon to confirm the date.
Hope everyone else is doing well and not feeling too anxious about all that is going on.

DressingGown87 · 19/03/2020 08:54

@sunbreak I think it was someone from the October group.

@Mc3209 love the naps! I’ve done a timetable to try and make sure I do some work 🙈 and not just nap!

@AdventureAhead it doesn’t feel real does it? I had my booking appointment yesterday too, got a list of things to organize. I’ve had 3 scans now, and still don’t believe I’m pregnant, and my symptoms (or lack of) are just like yours. With the world as it is, it feels even more like a dream. Hope your doing well? Do they book your scan?

1990shopefulftm · 19/03/2020 16:45

Had an email from the scan company, and had a panic for a second before I opened it, thankfully it's just them advising i m only allowed one guest.
If all is well Saturday it's £70 well spent as I've heard of them changing nhs scans to having no guests at all.

@1990shopefulftm good luck for Saturday!

How is everyone doing?

1990shopefulftm · 19/03/2020 18:29

@Mc3209 thank you :) been a little anxious and so i'm glad to get to see the baby soon.

OP posts:
AdventureAhead · 19/03/2020 18:37

@DressingGown87 They said that I'd receive a letter through the post to inform me of my scan date. 3 - 5 weeks seems a very long time to wait at the moment though. There are a few people we'd like to tell but don't feel comfortable sharing the news without the reassurance of a scan so considering paying for a private scan.
Can anyone confirm if an early (9 week) private scan would give the same assurance that the pregnancy is viable (not ectopic etc) and baby is growing as expected as the nhs 12 week scan will?

1990shopefulftm · 19/03/2020 19:15

@AdventureAhead the statistics i've read online vary a lot but they were between a 2-6% chance of a miscarriage once you've seen a heartbeat and the ones at 12 weeks were similar or a bit lower.
Also from what i've read they should be able to tell if its an ectopic from earlier scans than when you'd be hoping to have one.

I'm having a private scan at 8 +1 as to me it seemed good odds that it would tell me baby would be okay.

OP posts:
Mc3209 · 19/03/2020 20:10

@AdventureAhead yes, an early scan will tell you whether there is heartbeat, how it measures, how many babies you have and wether it is in the right place (ie not ectopic). I am very happy I got one (at 7 weeks), put my mind at rest, although however temporary.

DressingGown87 · 19/03/2020 20:42

@AdventureAhead agree with the other, a private scan will give you the reassurance. Checks the dates, sac, that it’s not ectopic, that there is a heartbeat. I have regular scans on the NHS to just check the heartbeat, but all the other things where checked on my first scan at 6 weeks. But agree the reassurance can be temporary but satisfying.

@1990shopefulftm Yes I think the rule is no other persons allowed to attend. Not long until your scan now ☺️

How is everyone?

WaveStreet · 19/03/2020 20:44

Hi all, new here. Currently 8+1, first baby, have been TTC since Dec '18.

Had a private scan today and so pleased we did, saw the heartbeat which was really special and reassuring to see that everything looks good so far. Ideally would have held off a little longer before having the scan but with everything going on we never know whats going to happen re cancellations or closures. Baby is measuring a few days behind my dates at the moment but was curled up so difficult to measure and there obviously can be inaccuracies at this early stage, or maybe i ovulated late.

My main struggles so far have been nausea and not feeling like i can stomach most food, although thankfully no actual sickness. I have stopped taking the pregnacare vitamins this week and just taking the essentials, folic acid, vit d etc. which seemed to have helped the nausea somewhat.

Hope everyone is staying well Smile

roarfeckingroar · 19/03/2020 21:10

Hi everyone,

Is "no partners at scans" a rule across the board now? I know it's being limited for birth to one person 😕 .

I think I can see a hint of a roundness in my abdomen! I'm 10+2 now and pretty slim (for now) but it may be bloating. I'm struggling with not doing hardcore exercise and knowing my body is going to change. Out for an evening power walk now it's very quiet.

DressingGown87 · 19/03/2020 21:28

@roarfeckingroar I know I had to attend alone to my booking appointment, early scans and told on my own to my 12week. But don’t know if that’s just my hospital. Awww a mini bump!!

@wavestreet welcome and congratulations! See the heartbeat is such a nice moment.

When do we have to make thread 2? Is there a limit?

roarfeckingroar · 19/03/2020 21:46

Welcome @WaveStreet and congratulations!

@DressingGown87 I haven't received a letter or any correspondence to say it's now no partners. My scan is 08.45 on 2 April so if I don't hear otherwise I'll take DP and try.

DressingGown87 · 19/03/2020 22:02

@roarfeckingroar I would have it if you’ve not been told other wise. My next scan is on the 1st and then screening on the 14th x

Effram · 20/03/2020 11:50

@roarfeckingroar it will all just be trust specific so if visitors are restricted they will let you know before the scan. At my booking appointment this week my midwife was very confident they would lift the restrictions esp at birth by the time our babies come (although I only had my husband there anyway last time).
