Did anyone get their BFP recently? I got mine last night so I think I'm 4 weeks 1 day today and still very much in shock, according to apps my due date would be October 30th.

Jaffas22 · 16/03/2020 19:06

Aww how did your mum take the news? .. I had to tell my manager early on due to working at the hospital as there was restrictions straight away. But I have no idea what the next week or so is to bring now

Frankincense88 · 16/03/2020 19:07

I've been instructed by my Head of Dept to go and speak to the Headteacher first thing tomorrow and prepare to set cover. Husband (IT engineer) has just been told by his boss he must work from home for the foreseeable. 😳

Danielle95lab · 16/03/2020 19:07

Well guys I work in travel so my jobs at risk of redundancy and with isolation and people working from home I won't get another job in this tough time. What a load of shite this is. Couldn't make it up! xxx

DressingGown87 · 16/03/2020 19:13

@jaffas22 she said she was already worried for my health, as I suffer badly with chest infections and colds since I was a baby, already spent a lot of time on ventilators. And now she said it’s a lot worse, and was shocked. She was at work (not the perfect way) but I just blurted it out. Will work be ok with you?

@Frankincense88 I don’t know how can they say this but then allow the kids to still go to school. A lot of people are teachers, or have children in schools.

@Danielle95lab sorry to hear that! It’s going to be a tough time for everyone, especially those who may loose their job. What a pregnancy this is going to be!

Frankincense88 · 16/03/2020 19:15

@DressingGown87 we had to send about 5 kids home today because their parents had sent them in really unwell with new dry coughs. 😳

Really feel for people whose jobs are at risk. Really hoping everything dies down very soon xx

1990shopefulftm · 16/03/2020 19:17

@DressingGown87 I'm sorry about your businesses but glad your employer has been flexible.
I m planning to tell my mum on Sunday, she lives 100 miles away so it will be by phone call, hoping she doesn't start panicking as my grandad passed away last november so she's been worried about my grandma, i don't want her worrying about me too.

@Danielle95lab I'm so sorry to hear that, pregnancy is tough as it is without money worries on top.

OP posts:
DressingGown87 · 16/03/2020 19:25

@1990shopefulftm I’m just going to feel the hit financially, hopefully staying in means I can save money. I know that was my worry, that she will worry about me. Had you originally planned to tell her in person and later?

@Frankincense88 I think some people just chance it, and think “let the school decide” 🙄

1990shopefulftm · 16/03/2020 19:36

@DressingGown87, no i'd been thinking of telling her just after my scan since I booked it (hopefully it doesn't get cancelled) but now I know she's probably going to worry more and she has enough on her plate, she does trust my DH which will help hopefully.

is there anything you can cancel to help with finances or any payment holidays you can get on anything?

OP posts:
roarfeckingroar · 16/03/2020 20:05

@DressingGown87 @notinthestarsigns I've put off telling work because I'm still negotiating a permanent contract but now I'm further along than I thought and we are considered high risk, I'm weighing up letting them know with the fact I'm working from home for the foreseeable so there's not much I need from them / no real benefit in telling them.

@Danielle95lab that's a shitter, sorry to hear you're in this situation.

Needless to say all gym classes will be cancelled now. I've bought a yoga mat for my living room and am going to try yoga with Nick on YouTube.

DP has written a list of cleaning the oven, painting the flat, decorating etc that he can do while we are self isolating together and I work on the terrace in 8 jumpers to avoid the fumes.

I've had my 12 week scan brought forward three weeks to 2 April in light of being 9+6 now (bad memory / maths, thought I was around 7) so that's exciting. My doula reports that most trusts are switching to only one birth partner so I'm reconsidering whether the money is worth it if she can't be in the delivery suite with me 😕

ablisha · 16/03/2020 20:16

I told my Headteacher this evening. Have moved my reassurance scan forward to tomorrow morning so will tell my parents soon after all being well

DressingGown87 · 16/03/2020 22:12

@1990shopefulftm I’m sure she will worry, but I think that’s mother’s instinct. Mine is on worry mode, and now texting me things... have you got any oranges? For vitamin C?

I’m lucky that my mortgage is with my parents, and is due to finish in August. So they said they will sort it out. Other than that bills are standard, I’m due refunds on all my holidays but travel companies are taking ages. I didn’t cancel them even though I couldn’t fly, as I didn’t want to jinx my pregnancy until 12 weeks atleast. Plus I need to sell my business / equipment, but it’s the wrong time to try.

@roarfeckingroar they may allow more than one person by October? Do you have to let her know / pay anything in advance? Glad your being able to work from home, and have a list of jobs to do! Yea you probably don’t need to tell them yet. I’m contemplating doing YouTube workouts if I need to! Plus walks in the country (down the road) as I doubt I will see anyone.

1990shopefulftm · 16/03/2020 22:16

@DressingGown87 hope the refunds get back to you soon. Maybe let her get you oranges to tone down the worrying.

OP posts:
roarfeckingroar · 17/03/2020 11:22

@DressingGown87 they may, but it takes a while for these policy changes to be reversed. It's a fair chunk of money and my main reason for wanting a doula is to have that support and advocacy during birth. I know there are bigger problems going on but it's another spanner.

I'm telling my dad on his birthday this weekend. I'm an only child and my mum isn't alive so it's going to be huge news and I can't wait.

ablisha · 17/03/2020 13:30

Had my scan this morning, all was fine despite my loss of symptoms. Still very small but measuring 7w +4 which is exactly what I am today 👍🏼

sunbreak · 17/03/2020 13:51

I told work on Friday and asked to work from home a bit more this week. I'm off next week as my husband and I are opening a food business
(great timing but we need to open as if can't wait until this passes and loose all of our money). So as I'm now self isolating and have had food delivered to my door by my parents who I can't see as they just came back from a holiday abroad... I don't know what's happening with my appointment, my first one is in couple of weeks, I'll call them closer to the date but it seems counterintuitive to be self isolating and then going to a hospital for an appointment (not scan yet)...
it most certainly will be an interesting pregnancy... I guess it'll make a good story for the kids, eh?

Frankincense88 · 17/03/2020 13:52

@ablisha ahh that's good to hear. I've been booked into the EPU tomorrow for an early scan after a tiny bleed last night so praying all is ok!

KitKatKit · 17/03/2020 16:41

@ablisha That's great news, reassuring for me as mine have also disappeared and I should be 9 weeks ish tomorrow.

@Frankincense88 Good luck for tomorrow, sending you all the good vibes for tomorrow 🤞🏼

ablisha · 17/03/2020 16:49

@KitKatKit the sonographer actually said to me usually they disappear at around 9 weeks as your baby starts surviving off the placenta so that may be why!

1990shopefulftm · 17/03/2020 17:00

Haven't had an NHS scan date yet, so really hoping my private one on Saturday doesn't get cancelled.
I m going to tell work on Monday, not sure it ll get me much more support although they ve cut the staff that are in significantly so it feels less risky but I just can't bring myself to do so before I ve had a scan.

OP posts:
KitKatKit · 17/03/2020 17:28

@ablisha that is super reassuring, thank you for that! I've been relatively relaxed until now but I had begun to freak out a little.

@1990shopefulftm Good luck for Saturday, I'm sure all will be well. Completely understand what you mean about not telling work before a scan.

I have a good relationship with my boss, and actually told him last week at 8 weeks when my symptoms peaked and I just could not do any work. I was comfortable telling him because he had two kids (and figured he would hopefully be more sympathetic to the incessant nausea if his wife had suffered too), but if we weren't good colleagues and he hadn't had kids, I definitely wouldn't have felt as comfortable telling him pre-scan.

Hang in there 🙂

DressingGown87 · 17/03/2020 18:10

@1990shopefulftm I’m going to wait a few weeks to get my refund, (hopefully) use it as a contingency fund. Good luck with your scan Saturday. I’ve not had my 12week through from RPH yet.

@ablisha congratulations! Another symptom free one here at 8+5 but have been a few weeks.

@roarfeckingroar it’s all so confusing and uncertain. Could you provisional book them and due to be reviewed on policy change? But I suppose everyone is still going on edge after this.

@Frankincense88 hope your ok?

@sunbreak J thought that, it’s going to be an interesting pregnancy. Good luck with your business.

I’ve got my next scan (third) tomorrow. It’s getting to a prominent stage in my history, so that, along with an epidemic, and stress of work it’s worrying!

Frankincense88 · 17/03/2020 18:15

@DressingGown87 I'm feeling fine, had a few instances of like a pinkish brown spotting when I go for a wee but only intermittently with no cramping or pain or anything. Phoned GP today and she said to go get checked out at the EPU tomorrow. Trying to stay calm as it was barely noticeable and seems to be relatively normal according to lots of other threads. Did a test this morning and was still a super clear positive so just keeping everything crossed that all is well and it's just old blood! Xx

1990shopefulftm · 17/03/2020 18:15

@KitKatKit thank you, hoping these 3 days go quickly.

OP posts:
1990shopefulftm · 17/03/2020 18:22

@DressingGown87 I m wondering if my 12 week scan will end up being late. I think I m pretty accurate with what I think my due date is and I m 7+4 today so there's still time for them to book it.

Hope all goes well tommorow

OP posts:
DressingGown87 · 17/03/2020 18:28

@1990shopefulftm I will let you know when I get mine. My friend has her 12 weeks scan tomorrow at RPH and she is 13+4 so I think they are running slightly behind. Thank you, will let you all know how it goes.

@Frankincense88 hopefully all will be ok, they usually say it’s red fresh blood which is the alarm bells. Light and brown usually is old implantation.

I’ve not tested for awhile, was doing them weekly but ran out.
