Did anyone get their BFP recently? I got mine last night so I think I'm 4 weeks 1 day today and still very much in shock, according to apps my due date would be October 30th.

@MamaNaz20 my “general” symptoms went a couple of weeks ago. Midwife said it was fine, so don't try and worry. I’ve got the pregnancy sniffles, they say runny noses are due to increase of blood flow, and general fatigue. No nausea, but just feel less hungry, then starving in waves.

roarfeckingroar · 15/03/2020 12:14

@MamaNaz20 I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry if you can - google isn't always your friend. It isn't too long until your next scan.

@DressingGown87 I would like to stay in but work is being deliberately vague and I haven't told them so I'm going to head to the office tomorrow if only to show a bit of willing. It isn't ideal as I'm visiting my elderly father to tell him at the weekend so don't want to carry anything to him.

I think I'm a little further along than everyone due to my crappy time keeping - 9 + 5 today EDD 13 October - but is anyone else feeling very up and down emotionally? Over the past three days I've gone from placid and generally v laid back to anxious, hyper emotional, teary, sensitive... I feel like DP isn't doing enough to proactively anticipate that I might be hungry, tired etc but frankly that's a bit silly, I'm pregnant with few symptoms, not ill and he's very happy and supportive in general. My mum isn't around and I wish she was, I feel quite alone and it's not a feeling I'm used to. I don't have any close older women who have had children (my godmother is amazing but she hasn't) around me and my friends haven't had them yet. I'm crying typing this. It doesn't help that DP has just quit smoking and has a huge amount of work stress and has one fk his best friend's funerals tomorrow. I've taken myself out for a walk.

@roarfeckingroar, I have moments where I tear up a bit when I think of my dad, he died when I was 9 so first baby is one of the many things off a long list that he's not here for (if it's a boy we're having we're giving them dad's name as a middle name to honour his memory) and occasionally films and tv are making me randomly emotional.

@DressingGown87 i've got horrendous sniffles today didn't think about the extra blood flow making it worse, it is normal for my hayfever to kick in in march but i m scared to take anything that isn't drug-free for it.

@firstpregnancy20 I really know how you feel! I think it’s even harder when you can’t tell people why you are unwell too. Hope you start to feel a bit better soon.

ablisha · 15/03/2020 13:22

@DressingGown87 @MamaNaz20 my symptoms have gone this week too. I rang the midwife and she said it does happen and she wasn't worried enough to call me in.

I have a private scan on Friday morning and I am just praying that I am wrong and little one is growing healthily but I do still have this dark part telling me otherwise.

1990shopefulftm · 15/03/2020 14:57

I was checking my measurements because I m thinking i m going to need bigger bras soon, I m that bloated my waist is 2 inches bigger than pre-pregnancy already.

roarfeckingroar · 15/03/2020 15:11

@ablisha that bastard little voice in your head telling you something is wrong is there for me too. I'm finding meditation, walks, yoga helps but god it's tiring.

Flora20 · 15/03/2020 15:14

@roarfeckingroar Completely normal to be up and down, you're doing the right thing by getting out for some fresh air and trying to stay positive. It will get easier when you're in the second trimester - you'll feel much more stable physically and emotionally, and once you tell people it makes it easier too.

KitKatKit · 15/03/2020 16:31

Hey folks, I haven't been on here for a few days and I feel out of the loop! Did the majority move to the FB page? I'd quite like to stay here as I dont use FB!

@roarfeckingroar Ahh so glad your scan went well! Hang in there with the moods... I basically want to thump my DH half the time now 😁
My scan isn't until 8th April, when I should be 12 weeks.
Currently abroad on holiday so trying to while away at least another week without thinking about it!

KitKatKit · 15/03/2020 16:35

@1990shopefulftm I hear you on the expanding waistline... I look severely bloated! I've definitely gained a lot in the last 4 weeks, but that's from eating carbs nonstop to curb the nausea 😩

@MamaNaz20 Weirdly my nausea has calmed down the last 3 days or so after nearly 3 weeks of being constant, but my boobs are still quite sore.
Hoping it's all okay for you and me both!

1990shopefulftm · 15/03/2020 16:42

@KitKatKit i haven't eaten too much more as i've been lucky and don't have nausea but i m so bloated, even when I've started waking up in the middle of the night the bloating hasn't gone down.

roarfeckingroar · 15/03/2020 17:35

Hi @KitKatKit ! I managed not to beat him up Grinjust went for a long walk and when I got home he had done lots of reading up on mood swings and had us sit down and me list everything I'm in any way worried about etc. He's very much an 'acts of service' love language type, very practical, so while I just wanted him to preempt that I might be -needy-- hungry, he went out and bought replacements for all the lightbulbs that have gone and fixed the radiator in our room. We talked it through, with me cry/laughing "I didn't even want you to cook, I just wanted you to ask if I wanted a sandwich" to which he said "darling, you don't like sandwiches.." with a confused face. He's an angel, really, and in retrospect it's funny. Not long until second trimester fortunately !

Glad to hear lots of people are staying on here not fb.

Frankincense88 · 15/03/2020 17:55

Was feeling secretly relieved / borderline smug I'd had no nausea but at 7+1 how wrong I was! Yesterday I took a 4 hour nap, today, 3 hours. Been wanting all the brown / beige food and just generally feeling rough. Only 3 weeks until Easter hols but really hoping this subsides soon 🤢

roarfeckingroar · 15/03/2020 18:01

@Frankincense88 eat the carbs!!! Consume the beige! If it works then crack on.

1990shopefulftm · 15/03/2020 18:09

@Frankincense88 Eat all the beige if it's what you feel you can eat.

@roarfeckingroar yea I will have to see how work goes this week. There’s not many of us, and if I stay off site, I should be ok. My emotions have settled a bit last few days, but they have been up and down. I’m more anxious than anything. Glad you and your DP have had the chat! I just shout at my Alexa 😂

@1990shopefulftm my app says, that mucous membranes in the nose swell, because of hormones, and increased blood flow. Which is why pregnant women get the sniffles. I’m with you on the bloat and my bra feels tight too!

@ablisha I know I didn’t expect them to go, but supposedly it’s common and doesn’t indicate something is wrong! Hope your scan goes well on Friday.

@KitKatKit I’m not leaving for Facebook either...

Jaffas22 · 15/03/2020 19:44

Had my private scan today, also measuring a week behind. But wow, what a feeling when you see that little heartbeat, after a week of worrying with on/off bleeding I’m so relieved!

Hope everyone else is okay 💕

1990shopefulftm · 15/03/2020 19:56

@DressingGown87 hopefully that swelling doesn't make hayfever season so much worse, there's not many medicine options I could use safely.

ablisha · 15/03/2020 20:11

Great news @Jaffas22 🥳

DressingGown87 · 16/03/2020 18:42

@jaffas22 congratulations!! Glad it all went well.

On another note? What is everyone doing about the advice that has just come out?? Can we really stay in “self isolation” for 12 weeks??? I didn’t think pregnancy would be put in the over 70’s category until now??

notinthestarsigns · 16/03/2020 18:46

Is anyone considering telling work earlier than planned due to the latest government guidance? I was hoping not to tell work until at least 12 week scan but now thinking I will have to tell them tomorrow 😕

Jaffas22 · 16/03/2020 18:55

I wasn’t initially worried until tonight. I actually work in the hospital too, there has been no confirmed cases in the hospital but I have no idea where I stand with this, starting to get anxious

1990shopefulftm · 16/03/2020 18:59

@DressingGown87 I m carrying on going to work as they're already started having people work for home so it's a matter of time before I would really and only leaving the house otherwise for appointments.

I can't afford to be on SSP for 3 months, it'd use up all that we've already saved for baby and I think most other people would be in that situation.

OP posts:
DressingGown87 · 16/03/2020 19:02

@1990shopefulftm snap! I’m a single income household, I’ve already had to shut one of my businesses and this isolation will me I will have to stop my other. I also work FT for my employer, and have agreed to work at home tomorrow, until I speak to my consultant at my appointment Monday.

I’ve just had to tell my mum! Which I didn’t want to at this stage! @Jaffas22 tonight has made me worried now!
