Did anyone get their BFP recently? I got mine last night so I think I'm 4 weeks 1 day today and still very much in shock, according to apps my due date would be October 30th.

Anyone else considering having a doula? I'm looking into it.

tulip2020 · 02/03/2020 14:03

@DressingGown87 that's absolutely great, congratulations! Does it feel more real now you've seen a heartbeat? I'm also thinking about having an early scan next week when I'll be almost 7 weeks, planning to tell my parents that weekend so would be nice to have had a scan before!

AdventureAhead · 02/03/2020 14:41

@DressingGown87 - Really happy for you! Must be a relief.

The earliest booking in appointment my go can offer is 1st April by which time I'll be 10.5weeks. Is this normal or does this seem too late?

tulip2020 · 02/03/2020 14:46

@AdventureAhead that does seem quite late to me, mines 20th March when I'll be 8.5 weeks. I guess the main thing is you don't want it to delay your scan if possible! So maybe you could see if you can get a date for that ahead of your appointment? I think I've seen some people have done that.

firstpregnancy20 · 02/03/2020 14:47

i am 6 weeks 2 days, due date 25th Oct. anyone in the group who drank and smoked in the first 4 weeks of pregnancy and got surprised that they are pregnant now.. super worried :(

Flora20 · 02/03/2020 14:53

@AdventureAhead Mine is the same, I'll be 11+2. It's on the later side but still normal, it was the same with my first. Shouldn't be a problem getting a scan within a couple of weeks of then, again going on my last experience! I'm frustrated as I was hoping for sooner but it will be fine 🙂

Flora20 · 02/03/2020 14:56

@firstpregnancy20 Don't worry. As long as you've stopped now and are taking folic acid there's unlikely to be anything wrong. Remember the first 2 weeks of your pregnancy as it's counted is actually 2 weeks before conception, plus it takes days for the embryo to implant into your body, so it's not as bad as you think. Most people have no idea they're pregnant then so many people do the same!

roarfeckingroar · 02/03/2020 15:27

@firstpregnancy20 I went on a three day absolute bender the weekend before I found out! I'm not worried. People sometimes don't find out for a couple of months and all works out. Congratulations and don't beat yourself up.

HelenMarie1001 · 02/03/2020 15:42

@Frankincense88 @Flora20
Thank you for the advice, had to take the plunge and tell HR as we may be closing due to Cornovirus so I thought it was best they knew (school trips!). HR said that they do not tell the Head it's for me to do which put my mind at rest Smile

DressingGown87 · 02/03/2020 16:06

Thank you all! Glad I can share my joy / relief you guys.

@roarfeckingroar No I'd never heard of a doula. But looking at my options of my friends who could be my birthing partner, I may need one! Hmm

@tulip2020 It does feel slightly more real, but I think its also scared me half to death. There wasn't much to see, just a 'blob', sac and a flickering heartbeat. My next scan is on the 23rd March, hopefully can see more then. I need to work out how to tell my parents, which is the next battle!

@firstpregnancy20 I was in New York, the city that never sleeps. I had 11 hours sleep across 6days! When i returned I thought I was jet lagged, so was shocked to find out I was pregnant.

Flora20 · 02/03/2020 16:47

@HelenMarie1001 Glad it went well. I'm thinking I'll send an email at least tomorrow. Is it bad that I'm hoping we will be closed for it? Two weeks off sounds lovely at the moment!

roarfeckingroar · 02/03/2020 17:10

@DressingGown87 oh that sounds fun. Very fun. I'm a couple of weeks short of 32 but none of my friends have really grown up. We all have professional jobs - lawyers, politics etc - but only one is married, I'll be the first one with a baby and I'm used to going out 5-6 nights a week. This is the scariest part to be honest, all the change.

1990shopefulftm · 02/03/2020 18:05

@Flora20 it's why I decided to get a private one in, my booking appointment is at 10 weeks and I ve never had a hospital appointment at my local hospital within two weeks before, I assume being maternity services it's different though.

So pleased for you @DressingGown87

Been very busy at school today so just catching up on all the messages!

Frankincense88 · 02/03/2020 19:07

I've just booked an early scan and in my confirmation email it says I must bring my maternity notes with me... but I don't have my booking appt until the following week. Will they still do it?!

roarfeckingroar · 02/03/2020 20:59

@Frankincense88 I don't know when you get pregnancy notes

DressingGown87 · 02/03/2020 21:57

@roarfeckingroar I’m 32, most of my friends have partners and kids. However one of my friends is recently single, and my best friend is single! So we have lots of nights out, trips away, and general living life. I had step children for years, up until 10 months ago, so am use to family life, school runs, bickering, sleepless nights, constant I don’t like that (but you ate it yesterday) conversations. Already thought about how I will tell them about the baby, as I still have monthly visits.

@Frankincense88 I don’t know the answer sorry, but I’m sure someone will be able to answer. I’m sure they will be able to see you.

@ablisha thank you! Hope school wasn’t too stressful.

Mc3209 · 03/03/2020 08:10

@Frankincense88 yes, they should. Just ask them for a copy of the report to be filed into mat notes (which you will get at your booking appointment, where I live they are electronic). If in doubt, give the ultrasound place a call and ask.
I've booked my early scan too, but already had a booking in with midwife.

roarfeckingroar · 03/03/2020 09:42

@DressingGown87 oh gosh you're well prepared then. I have zero experience of babies, they're like aliens to me. I'm going to fail massively at this.

KitKatKit · 03/03/2020 10:35

@roarfeckingroar nobody is failing at this! It's my first child too and I have zero experience, zero friends with kids etc, so it's going to be a major culture shock for me too. We will all make it :)

How are everybody's symptoms? I'm on day 10 of constant nausea (but no throwing up) and am so over it already sigh

roarfeckingroar · 03/03/2020 10:43

Thank you @KitKatKit ! I suppose we just have to run with it, no backing out now.

I wake up with cramps every day but nausea is under control thankfully.

firstpregnancy20 · 03/03/2020 11:00

I am 6weeks +3 pregnant.. I am having so much nausea from last 3 days...not able to eat properly..smell of food is making it worse...anyone facing the similar symptoms and worried that they are not taking enough nutrients

roarfeckingroar · 03/03/2020 11:17

@firstpregnancy20 just take in what you can and make sure you're taking folic acid. Maybe a multi vit? Sorry you're feeling so awful.

tulip2020 · 03/03/2020 11:35

Sorry if tmi but I had quite a bit of red/brown discharge this morning which really freaked me out! Has anyone else had that? I'm 6 weeks today and just not sure if I should contact the doctor x

roarfeckingroar · 03/03/2020 12:38

@tulip2020 I had a small amount twice, I think it's quite common, but if you're concerned maybe speak to your doctor?
