Hi,

Starting a thread for ladies in early pregnancy after one or more miscarriages or stillbirths. A safe place to let off steam and hopefully grow healthy rainbows together......

Just booked my flu jab for Monday. Just FYI you can get it done for free at boots once you have your maternity exemption certificate (you send off for it after your booking in and takes about a week). You can book online and so much more convenient than going to doctors. There's one across from my office at Canary Wharf! Thought I'd mention in case it's easier for anyone else to do this.

bananamuffin99 · 19/02/2020 11:18

@Avocuddles it is on 1st March, according to my LMP I should be 6 weeks 4.

SammiLou2312 · 19/02/2020 11:44

@Seahawk80 I had my flu jab yesterday. They managed to fit me in straight after my midwife appointment as my surgery is stopping doing them this week... My arm feels so sore today lol

Oreoreo · 19/02/2020 13:31

Hi everyone, I’m new to Mumsnet so I hope it’s okay to just jump in. I found out I was pregnant on Monday, and my anxiety has been sky high since then. I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks in September last year. I know it’s all still quite new this time around but I can’t shake the feeling that it’s going to happen again.

We talked about trying again just before Christmas, and when I wasn’t come January I was really disappointed. I thought when it actually happened again I’d feel excited but I just have this sick feeling of dread and can’t stop thinking about what happened before.

It’s really comforting to read so many positive stories after miscarriage and I know statistically that I shouldn’t be thinking about it so much but I just can’t shake it off.

SammiLou2312 · 19/02/2020 13:37

@Oreoreo firstly welcome and congratulations on your positive. Secondly, I think I speak for all of us when I say, you are among friends here. We all feel the same at points and completely understand. As someone said to me a few weeks back (@SW83 I think it was you)... "A memory is a memory and not an indicator of the outcome this time. Each pregnancy is different and with that, a new probability and firm likeliness of a positive outcome." Try to keep smiling and try not to worry too much. Sending best wishes and sticky bean vibes your way x

Sunflower1608 · 19/02/2020 15:33

Still spotting. Managed to get the gp to call me to refer me to the EPU. Got a scan booked for Friday. Just need to find someone to flog my 3 other little ones on and hopefully see a double heartbeat. Feel so sick about it all. Hate all this anxiety after having a miscarriage

Pippop21 · 19/02/2020 16:20

So i tested and the CBD is still saying 1-2wks (im 5 weeks today with no symptoms) feel in my heart like something is not right at all, i honestly know something has happened if that makes sense i cant even bring myself to call up for hcg bloods cause i'll get fobbed off and feel stupid! 😭😭😭 i just want to curl up in a ball and cry!

Hagster · 19/02/2020 19:14

Welcome to the recent joiners, you are absolutely amongst friends. Let it out!⁣

@Pippop21 sorry you're feeling so awful after that. Probably is worth ringing up and seeing if they can measure HCG, I know it might feel like a small chance but it sounds like you're feeling about as rubbish as you can anyway so probably won't hurt to get it looked into? Sending you lots of love, be kind to yourself. ⁣

Symptoms-wise I'm not really feeling much at the moment (trying to push away worries from this), just completely knackered but to be fair that's just me after a day's work when I'm not pregnant, old fart 🙈

Avocuddles · 19/02/2020 19:28

Evening ladies! I'm feeling shattered tonight, we're en route to the in laws as tomorrow's is DHs granddads funeral, I hope MIL doesn't want too much conversation as suspect I'll be nodding off!

Had my booking in appointment this morning which was fine, just need to wait for the 12 week scan appointment now.

Annoyingly a bit of my tooth broke off this afternoon, it's one with a large filling in and about a quarter of the actual tooth has gone leaving the filling exposed. There's no pain but I'm a bit worried about it becoming infected - have a dentist appointment booked for next Wednesday but not sure how much they'll be able to do given the pregnancy?

@Pippop21 sorry you're feeling low. CB digitals are notoriously unreliable so hopefully that's just the case and it isn't what you think. How certain are you re your dates?

@Sunflower1608 sorry to hear you're still spotting, hopefully Friday will bring you a reassuring positive result. Waiting is always the hardest, hope you have plenty of support.

@Oreoreo we all sympathise with the crazy levels of anxiety you're feeling. It's so hard having to deal with conflicting emotions of fear and excitement as well as contending with crazy hormones. Just remember that the odds are in your favour and this is a completely new pregnancy. Hopefully you'll be here for the duration until your rainbow arrives.

Feeling a bit queasy now (the joys of pregnancy combined with trying to use my phone whilst a car passenger on a bumpy road) so apologies for not being able to reply to anyone else but hope you're all well xx

Thank you for the kind words and the support xx my OH has been amazing since we found out again. I know he’s just as scared but we’re trying to get through together.

Pippop21 · 19/02/2020 22:05

Hi all unfortunately i started spotted this evening 😞 xxx

Aria2015 · 19/02/2020 22:24

@Pippop21 so sorry to hear that. I will keep my fingers crossed for you but understand that feeling where you feel like you just 'know'. Be kind to yourself Thanks

Oreoreo · 19/02/2020 23:04

@Pippop21 - I’m sorry to hear that, sending thoughts and wishes to you

SunStruck · 20/02/2020 01:49

@Pippop21 I'm very sorry to hear that 😔 please look after yourself 💐

@Avocuddles sorry t hear about funeral and tooth but glad the scan went well! What was yours measuring if you don't mind me asking? I'm sure the dentist will have something they can give you in pregnancy, albeit maybe not as strong! ❤️

Avocuddles · 20/02/2020 07:36

@SunStruck it measured 6.9mm at just under 7 weeks, in theory it has more than doubled in size since then and hopefully will be at least 20 at next Mondays scan!

@Pippop21 so sorry things aren't looking good. We all have our fingers crossed for you....

Can I jump in? 32, ttc #1 since Oct 2018. 8+5 today after a miscarriage at 5w in July. Would be due 26/9.

Was feeling pretty calm and hopeful leading up to booking appt on Monday but since then feeling super anxious. Awaiting dating scan letter, think I need another milestone to aim towards.

Reluctant to go for a private scan as I’ve heard such varied things about them and not sure it would alleviate my anxiety anyway.

Have been feeling really nauseous with massive painful boobs but now second guessing those symptoms constantly.

What does everyone else do to distract themselves?? Doesn’t help that I’m a teacher so on half term!

Knotemma · 20/02/2020 10:15

@sallywinter welcome to the world of crazy symptom checking and hormonal madness. You're in the right place. I'm pretty sure every one of us here has had exactly the same thoughts and feelings. I've had horrendous sickness and woke up yesterday feeling alright, so flew into a mad panic, some must have gone wrong, had myself round the bend. By the time I'd got up and started moving around the nausea kicked in and I calmed down🤦. It's a rollercoaster. And as many people here will tell you symptoms often don't mean anything, some women don't get them as severely as others and they come and go as your hormones fluctuate.

Because I'm pretty much stuck in bed I'm reading a lot, going back through a selection of old favourite sci fi and fantasy books from my teen years, which is helping keep me a bit distracted, or at least it's helping to pass the time.

Because you've got the week off could you maybe book yourself in for something nice like a manicure, a little treat might brighten you up?

didslysquiddlydoo · 20/02/2020 11:16

@Pippop21 how are you doing today? I've been thinking of you xx

sallywinter · 20/02/2020 11:22

@Knotemma I do love a good nostalgia read, have steamed through some of my favourite comfort books.

I fell and broke my elbow last week (completely blame the nausea for that one!) so I can’t drive and live in a tiny village - would totally be up for a mani or pedi otherwise.

TunnocksTcake · 20/02/2020 11:31

Hello @sallywinter you are in good company here. Feel free to vent your craziest concerns, it really helps and everyone is so supportive here.

My SIL sent me a really sweet message yesterday, she has had 1 late baby loss due to spina bifida at 20 weeks and after that another 2 early miscarriages. She is now nearing 20 weeks with a baby girl and sent me the attached, thought some of you might appreciate it too 💕

Pregnant after loss and dreaming of rainbows....
Pippop21 · 20/02/2020 12:18

Hiya ladies 😌, my spotting has not turned to bleeding, its game over for me, i called the midwife and she said there is nothing they can do, they wont scan me as im less than 6 weeks and if my cramps become severe or im loosing too much blood then to go to A&E. other than not just sit it out and see what happens over the next week. I know i an going through a miscarriage at the moment so im going to see how the bleeding goes and when its stopped test again to make sure there is no tissue remaining. After that its back the TTC.

What do you all suggest in a way of tests etc? Im obviously conceiving but this is my second miscarriage now, 1st at 12.5 second at 5.1 xxxx

Aria2015 · 20/02/2020 12:35

@Pippop21 sorry to hear about your bleeding. I had two miscarriages before having a successful pregnancy. The first was a mmc at 11 weeks and the second a mmc at 7 weeks. I actually got pregnant straight after the second mc (before I had a period) and that's been my only successful pregnancy so don't give up hope. My doctor wouldn't do any tests other than blood tests (which came back fine). I did take baby aspirin with my successful pregnancy. But I took that last year and still had a miscarriage so not sure if it made any difference? Take care of yourself Thanks

SammiLou2312 · 20/02/2020 12:55

Hi @Pippop21. Sorry to hear your news... As this is your second it may be worth seeing if you can get referred to a recurrent miscarriage clinic for testing /support. It can depend on where you live as to whether they will see you however, I think some areas it's after 2 but it is after 3 in my area... Take it easy, thinking of you and sending best wishes for the future x

Pippop21 · 20/02/2020 13:10

@SammiLou2312 thanks, i will look into it! I know with my mm they did sent away for dna testing with that one as baby had more fluid on back of neck 4.5 but they also said it could be due to lack of movement, dna came back fine...they saif they dont usually test dna, unless its 2 miscarriages or more so u'll see what they say do i ring and cancel my booking in? Stupid question really but midwife didnt give or offer me any advice she just said see how this week goes 🤷🏻‍♀️ they're not very supportive at all during losses i have found! Even with me 12.5 mm it was medically managed and i was send hone with no offer of counselling just an aching arms bear and some sodding forget me not seeds!!!!

She couldnt even tell me what happens to my baby once they finished testing the tissue! Because obvs was fully formed at 12.5 all she said was it will get taken with some other babies to be communally cremated and disposed of! Xx
