Hi,

Starting a thread for ladies in early pregnancy after one or more miscarriages or stillbirths. A safe place to let off steam and hopefully grow healthy rainbows together......

Just adding myself to the list... I'm about the same as you @hagster

Sorry to those feeling a bit rubbish today. I'm feeling a bit neutral really. A few aches and pains, no real symptoms, apart from this thread just trying to ignore the fact I'm pregnant!! Going to call EGU later though as they did say they'd do an early scan after one miscarriage if I called them...

Hope everyone has a little bit of sunshine, we had a lovely morning on the allotment in the sun :-)

Seahawk80 · 17/02/2020 14:40

@Hagster I'm glad you tidied up the list! It annoyed me but am too lazy!!

@TunnocksTcake glad all ok!

I have realised how stressed I am when I got an email from the hospital, it was just a reply to a thank you I sent on Friday and there's no way the results would be in yet but my heart rate went through the roof and I feel sick. Can't bear another week of this 😩

Sunflower1608 · 17/02/2020 15:18

Still spotting today 😔
I phoned EPU and they won't see me unless a gp refers me. So will have to try get an appointment tomorrow. But got 2 little ones with me and no one to have them, so not sure I'll be able to even go anyway. Don't know what to do. They just didn't seem to care that I had bleeding and were rather unintrested

Treaclepie19 · 17/02/2020 15:27

I'm sorry they were dismissive @Sunflower1608. I had that in my last pregnancy and despite a fair bit of blood nobody would scan me. I ended up getting a private scan. I would say see your gp though and see what they say.

tmc14 · 17/02/2020 16:25

Can’t believe they won’t see you @Sunflower1608 have you phoned your gp? Mine referred me via a phone call, she said if I was bleeding at all she didn’t need to see me to have proof.

I called EGU and have a scan next Friday, at 7w1d. I’m very lucky in that they said to contact them when I miscarried, even though it was my first. Now anxious already! 🙄

Knotemma · 17/02/2020 16:40

@Sunflower1608 that's awful, it's so frustrating that we have such a postcode lottery when it comes to epu and NHS services in general. While it's amazing that we have them it's very difficult when you can't just get seen when it's needed. I'd definitely try for a doctor's appointment, I've got everything crossed for you.

@tmc14 I was told that after my second MC and they've been brilliant this time around. Seeing the midwife tomorrow and hoping I can talk my way into another scan, if not I'm paying for a private one on Friday evening, I just can't wait another couple of weeks to see the bean and know if it's stuck, I'm going a bit mad I think.

Rachael321 · 17/02/2020 16:49

Signed off work for another week.🤢🤢

In positive news managed to catch up on washing and clean the bathroom 😂

tmc14 · 17/02/2020 16:50

@knotemma yes ours is technically for if you’ve miscarried twice or more, but it seems they’re flexible with that rule as I’ve ‘only’ had one miscarriage. So grateful, but baby stopped growing last time at 8.5 weeks so I’m really hoping they’ll agree to scan me between next Friday & 12 weeks as well, otherwise I might have to sneak in a private one. Not sure how I’ll wait 5 weeks in between scans over when I miscarried last time!

HighHopes20 · 17/02/2020 20:18

Just a tip for anyone struggling with all day nausea- today I found out my old sea bands that I used with my son, put them on and it’s really took the edge off for me!

Aria2015 · 18/02/2020 09:25

Hi ladies, just catching up on the thread. I can see that quite a few of you are further ahead than me. I'm just 6 weeks. Can I ask you a question? I started to feel nauseous about 3-4 days ago. A hangover type feeling. I remember feeling this way with my one successful pregnancy so was quite happy. Thing is yesterday, half way through the day, I suddenly felt better and also my breasts didn't feel sensitive or sore any more. I've not slept all night worrying. Have any of you had similar? I'm so anxious. Also yesterday a friend at work came back from a meeting with a coffee for me. She doesn't know I'm pregnant so it wasn't decaf. I drank it because I'd read that you can have 1-2 cups of coffee a day (although I've been having decaf) and I'm worried my disappearing symptoms are linked to me drinking the coffee. I was feeling quite positive with having felt nauseous before but now I'm full of doom and gloom again!

Seahawk80 · 18/02/2020 09:59

@Aria2015 my symptoms totally come and go. I have been feeling fine and then felt so sick yesterday. Now fine again. I've also had the non decaf a few times. Try not to be so hard on yourself x

Knotemma · 18/02/2020 10:05

@Aria2015 sorry that you're having a crappy day. Because your hormones are all over the place symptoms come and go, so it's quite normal to have days where you don't feel sick etc. Not helpful to those of us who've had bad experiences I know.

On the caffeine front your allowed 200 mg of caffeine a day according to the NHS, which even if it was a proper filter brew it's unlikely that the one coffee your friend bought you will have gone over. As far as a I know the caffeine limit is more to do with low birth weight than anything else, and if you're drinking decaf the rest of the time the likelihood that a single cup will do you any harm is so tiny.

You're right at The beginning of the point where the "morning" sickness starts, so for it to come and go is pretty normal. Try to stay positive and be kind to yourself. Whatever happens you haven't done anything that could cause any harm xxx

Aria2015 · 18/02/2020 10:06

@Seahawk80 thanks for the reply. That makes me feel a bit better. My boobs feeling sensitive and me feeling a bit sick were massive comforters for me, I struggle to stay positive without some sort of 'sign'. I have my scan on Thursday so have to hang on until then. Thanks again for your reply Smile.

Aria2015 · 18/02/2020 10:11

@Knotemma thanks for the reply. Rationally I know a single coffee probably won't cause any harm but I struggle to be rational when I'm in the midst of pregnancy angst! Hopefully it's just a ebb, and a flow of symptoms will be round the corner to make me feel better! Thanks for the reply, I really do appreciate it.

Knotemma · 18/02/2020 10:20

@Aria2015 the angst is so awful isn't it? I'm on the other end of the spectrum, I've been so I'll I've convinced myself something must be wrong, so there's absolutely no winning. I'm so jealous of those naive first timers who just get to enjoy every minute.

Part of the reason I really like this thread is that were all here to support each other and pick each other up when we're feeling crappy.

So just remember mama, you're doing all the right things and I'm sending lots of sticky bean dust your way xxxx

Aria2015 · 18/02/2020 10:34

@Knotemma I know exactly what you mean - I can't imagine what it's like to be pregnant and just feel happy and excited! Must be bliss! With my one successful pregnancy, my anxiety only subsided once I'd delivered. I always feel it was such a shame that I wasn't able to enjoy any of it. I hope if (if!) things are ok with this pregnancy I can do better but my anxiety feels like something I can't control so don't know how realistic that is!

Sorry to hear you're worrying too and feeling so unwell. Wishing you all the very best too.

SunStruck · 18/02/2020 11:01

@Aria2015 I'm sorry to hear about your paranoia! I'm exactly the same, symptoms come and go and I'm bricking it. I also had a ham sandwich (bought) and am worried about that too 🤷🏻‍♀️ cravings were just too strong and I couldn't eat anymore cheese...

It is very normal symptoms come and go at this early stage (I'm 8 weeks, and at 6 weeks I felt good more than I felt bad 😅).

@Knotemma your sickness sounds awful, are you feeling better today?

I have another scan in 1.5 hours and I'm so scared 😓

bananamuffin99 · 18/02/2020 11:12

Hi, I am booked in to have a scan at the EPU when I should be 6 weeks 4 if you go by my LMP. Should I expect to see/hear a heartbeat? It seems that not all women do at this stage even if the pregnancy is healthy according to Google?

SammiLou2312 · 18/02/2020 11:13

@SunStruck wishing you all the best for your scan ☺️

I have my booking in appointment with midwife in a couple of hours. Pain I had yesterday made me freak out, I know it's probably muscle or ligament pain but still... Hoping I might be able to persuade midwife to try check heartbeat with a doppler to put my mind at rest but don't know when they start doing that usually

SammiLou2312 · 18/02/2020 11:14

@bananamuffin99 we were able to see heartbeat at just over 6weeks but couldn't hear it yet. Hoping you have a good scan x

Aria2015 · 18/02/2020 11:24

@SunStruck best of luck with your scan! I have everything crossed for you!

SunStruck · 18/02/2020 11:39

Thanks ladies ❤️

@bananamonkey we saw a heartbeat and heard at 6 weeks exactly (transvaginal). If not transvaginal I'm not sure if you can see it so early!

Knotemma · 18/02/2020 12:21

@SunStruck good luck with your scan today.

@SammiLou2312 I have my booking in appointment today too.

@bananamuffin99 we saw the heartbeat at our scan where I should have been 6+3, but was measuring smaller. Didn't hear anything but could see it fluttering away on the screen.

I'm completely crazy today, really angry and have just completely lost my temper with the cat because she just won't leave me alone for 30 seconds 😤. I feel like the Hulk, like I might just explode. I think the lack of decent sleep has properly started to catch up on me. While the tablets help stop me from throwing up (some of the time) I'm still feeling really rough and generally a bit out of it. Drowsiness is a side effect and I think I could cope if they were helping me sleep, but instead I just feel knackered.

In addition the fact that I need to do so much housework is driving me round the bend. Ive run out of clean crockery but the idea of standing and washing up makes me want to cry.

So basically I'm a bit insane today, god knows what's in store for the poor midwife 🙈

Seahawk80 · 18/02/2020 12:24

@bananamuffin99 really depends. Also depends on how sure you are on dates. I'd been monitoring my cycle but didn't do opks and went for a scan at 6+6 and was told I was measuring 4-5 weeks. I was gutted and thought that was it (drank loads of wine with a friend) went back in 2 weeks and all was fine. I've since had another scan 2 weeks later and growth was perfect for the 2 week gap so do just be prepared for the fact that you may be a few days behind and not see a heartbeat. Best of luck.

@Aria2015 @Knotemma my midwife said the people who get a positive test and assume all will be fine and haven't had any issues make her nervous as they are the people with eleborate birth plans who get distraught when things don't go their way!!

Knotemma · 18/02/2020 12:36

@Seahawk80 that made me smile. I'm going to drink my tea, out my big girl pants on and face the world. I need to get myself out of this funk. So I'm going to give myself a short achievable list and do it hinch style, with massive ticks when I've done stuff 😂
