Hi,

Starting a thread for ladies in early pregnancy after one or more miscarriages or stillbirths. A safe place to let off steam and hopefully grow healthy rainbows together......

Oh I am so happy to hear about all the good scans in the thread! @didsysquiddlydoo what great news!!!! Elated for you. Must have been such a rollercoaster for you, hope you can relax a bit now!

@Sunflower1608 double trouble 🤩 wow that's incredible. Do twins run in your family? Or DH's? ❤️

I hope everyone had a good Valentine's Day yesterday! Me and DH went out for a nice lunch and I didn't feel bad yesterday so was perfect. I feel extremely nauseous a today though and my eating has been atrocious 😥 I'm feeling so bad that I can't even look at veg or fruit at the moment, only carbs (and bad carbs) have worked today. I'm going to try force myself to eat something healthy soon but DH is ordering pizza. Don't even feel for pizza to be honest, that's when you know it's bad 🤦🏻‍♀️

Sunflower1608 · 15/02/2020 13:44

@SunStruck no twins in either family. It's why it never really occured to us it could be a possibility

Hagster · 15/02/2020 14:01

@sunflower1608 that's amazing news! So happy for you.

Quick update from me - I love the NHS. Rang the midwives who recommended visiting the EGU (which I'm so lucky to have locally). Went and was examined, scan booked for Monday morning. Tentatively hopeful that it's nothing but I am so grateful that they're taking it seriously and scanning to be safe.

Thanks for the support everyone.

Avocuddles · 15/02/2020 14:03

@Sunflower1608 wow what an amazing surprise! So glad both are looking healthy. Imagine it will take a while to get used to the news!

@tmc14 I went through the whole booking in process last time too - it took forever as both I and DH have fairly complicated medical histories. My appointment this time round is on Wednesday when I'll be further along than ever before (8 + 2) but I still feel nervous that we'll go through all that and then things might still go wrong. They like to do the initial midwife appointment around 8 weeks in my area as there can be a bit of a wait for 12 week scan appointments, I would have felt happier if it was after my next scan at 9 weeks but trying to keep my positive pants on!

@Hagster that's a great result - it's most likely that there's nothing at all to worry about but it will be good to get confirmation and hopefully reassurance....

@Hagster that's great news, we're so lucky to have our NHS, they might not always get it right but the alternative doesn't bear thinking about.

@Sunflower1608 thats all a bit exciting, I would imagine you're in a bit of shock.

I've got my booking in appointment on Tuesday at 9+1. I'm hoping that I can get another early scan as my anxiety is off the scale, but if not I think we'll book a private scan for next weekend, I don't think I can handle waiting another 3 or 4 weeks for another scan.

didslysquiddlydoo · 15/02/2020 14:45

@Avocuddles I LIVE in the M&S bralets - so comfortable!!!

@Sunflower1608 oh wow!!! That's insane news, I bet that'll take a moment to sink in!!! Congratulations! So glad your scan went well and had an added bonus!! 😍

@TunnocksTcake so glad little one is growing exactly as they should be!! As for the cyst - is that likely to be something that will manage itself over time?

@SunStruck wow, I don't think I've ever not been in the mood for pizza!!! Glad you were feeling relatively well for celebrating yesterday but sorry to hear you're feeling so rough today - first trimester is a wonderful time... 🙈

@Hagster Great response for you! I also, like many others, have had lots of random pains in my sides but nothing where it shouldn't be.. It's such an anxiety provoking time isn't it?! I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but will be checking back to see how your scan goes on Monday!!

@Knotemma Totally understand that dreaded horrid anxiety 😩. Our booking appointment is also at 9 weeks and we have booked a private scan for the week after.. totally with you on not being able to wait the 4 or 5 weeks til the next scan!!! 🙈

didslysquiddlydoo · 15/02/2020 14:48

@Knotemma or even 3 or 4 weeks 🙈😂

HighHopes20 · 15/02/2020 15:01

Hi all, sorry I’ve been a bit quiet on here. Full of cold and all day nausea is a bad combination! My little boy has croup so we’ve had a few nights of disturbed sleep which has totally wiped me out.
I’m so glad it seems like the majority of us are having positive scans! Mine is next Sunday at roughly 8 weeks and I am so nervous!!

Nooodles · 15/02/2020 15:50

@Hagster Really pleased you’ve got an appointment to check and be sure :) I have had exactly the same pains, and I was told it’s called “round ligament pain” - try and stand up slowly and move slower when you’re turning over in bed - ever since I’ve been told that, I’ve not had the pains so bad :) really hope it is the same for you.

Congratulations on all those positive scans, and @Sunflower1608 on those twinnies! Amazing :)

I’ve got my booking in appointment in a week, I’m seriously considering a home birth so I think most of it is going to be discussing that as it’ll mean switching to a different midwife service - although I’m not quite ready to discuss it yet as it feels like I’m tempting fate. So I’m in a bit of a dither but hope my midwife is patient with me! My daughter’s birth was super fast, and we now live further away from the hospital - so although I’d rather not a home birth, I think I’m better to have a planned one than an unplanned one ... :/ haha.

Going to book a private scan for a couple of weeks, when I’ll be 10 weeks. That’s when we MC last time and I really want that extra reassurance. Especially as we were measuring small at the first scan. Aghhh.

Still treading a thin line between anxiety and trying to be positive, but think I’m doing ok. :) Sending you all lots of love, I’m rooting for all of you! 💛 xxx

tmc14 · 15/02/2020 15:52

@Avocuddles my booking in is at 9 weeks, in a way, it seems like such a waste to have this massive appointment before a scan... my scan is booked already for 12w4d. Last time they sent it after my booking in so no idea what their system is! Thinking I’ll have a scan near the booking in date... and will try and hold out until then... 4 weeks to go 😬

What is everyone doing exercise wise? I’ve just been for a very stormy run... I signed up for a 10k to raise money for Tommy’s, it’s next week and I’m not prepared but reckon I can always walk some. I want to keep exercising as it’s so good for my head, plus I’m about 1.5 stone overweight and can’t stop eating 🤣 but don’t want to overdo it.

Knotemma · 15/02/2020 16:21

@tmc14 I was exercising as normal up until last Sunday when the sickness got overwhelming. I actually found it helped with the nausea... At least until afterwards 😂. I do aerial yoga, hoop and silks and while I'm obviously being extra careful I have a brilliant instructor who specialises in pregnancy yoga and has been very supportive. I really want to continue for as long as I feel able. I've got a week off for half term and I'm hoping to be back to it after that, sickness dependent of course🙈. I also started doing park run between Christmas and New year and was really enjoying it, but again the sickness has put a stop to that and with it being something I'm less uses to I think might leave running until after this pregnancy. Honestly I think as long as you're listening to your body you should keep going especially if it's making you feel good, just don't be pushing for PB's any time soon! X

Sunflower1608 · 15/02/2020 16:51

@Hagster I suffer the same pains at ovulation and early pregnancy. Always been told it was ligament pain. Part of growing and hormones. Find curling up when it happens helps.

@tmc14 still doing crossfit despite nausea and exhaustion. It's good for me mentally to get out and move. Got two really good coaches that oversee everything and offer certain alternative movements that are better doing pregnancy. Just going by feel; lighter weights and lower intensity. Did a couples CrossFit comp last weekend but no more comps planned until next year

TunnocksTcake · 15/02/2020 18:15

@Sunflower1608 Oh My Gosh twins?! Amazing news!

@tmc14 my exercise has really dropped off the last week and feeling much worse for it. My main issue is my boobs hurt too much to do the cardio I used to do at the gym but going to get a proper swimming costume so I can do that instead.

@Hagster I've also had those pains, especially when moving too fast. Glad the hospital are looking after you though.

TunnocksTcake · 15/02/2020 18:19

@didslysquiddlydoo I'm not entirely sure, I'm kind of waitingng for Epu to ring me on Monday. She did say if it was just a cyst it would get reabsorbed and go away eventually so as long as there is no pain I'm ok. Keep overreacting to every slight pain on my left side 🙄

I've got my booking appt on Wednesday which by lmp would have been exactly 8 weeks but is slightly under now. I also wanted to have a scan before we had booking appt, and glad I did. Maybe they will have some advice about the cyst too. I get my scan letter after that and hoping it's bang on 12 weeks, I go on holiday the week after!

Rachael321 · 15/02/2020 19:51

Evening all I really need to catch up on this thread!!

currently 13+2 and all of a sudden got a serious pain in my left shoulder.
Had an awful day and head is fried, dont know if I should call NHS 24 for advice or if I'm overreacting?

Knotemma · 15/02/2020 20:19

@Rachael321 that sounds awful 😔. If it's really bothering you give 111 a ring, but just be aware that they can sometimes be a bit alarmist, they once told me they were sending an ambulance with blue lights when I had a chest infection. My answers to a couple of questions put me straight into the emergency category.

Fingers crossed you're feeling a bit better x

Rachael321 · 15/02/2020 20:41

@knotemma yeah that's what I'm worried about. Dont want a mountain out of a mole hill. But paranoid and dont want to leave it for it to get worse or be a big problem. Struggling not to google it!!

Knotemma · 15/02/2020 21:20

@Rachael321 could you have pulled something? You'll probably have started producing relaxin by now, so might be easier to do than normal? Trying to think of nice calm reasons you could be experiencing it 😔. Hopefully you start to feel better but if not I'd get checked. There's no harm in it and honestly it's why we have these services available.

tmc14 · 15/02/2020 21:53

@knotemma @TunnocksTcake @Sunflower1608 thanks for the replies & reassurance. It’s silly, in my first pregnancy I carried on as normal no problem. Now I’m second guessing everything. I love running, I’m so sluggish with it at the moment but I shall keep going while it’s comfortable.

And wow, aerial yoga sounds amazing. I used to do loads of yoga but haven’t returned since the birth of my son. Looking forward to getting back into pregnancy yoga if this one sticks... I did it until 41weeks with my first, although by that point I mostly just turned up and sat on a bolster as I was a whale 🤣

Knotemma · 15/02/2020 22:47

@tmc14 it's awesome, but hard work 😂. I'll probably have to spend a significant amount less time upside down than I usually do, but they've had people practice up to 36 weeks in the past. The best this is that if you've had a crap day you can just lie down in the fabric "hammock" for an hour😂. It's lovely for a good stretch though. I'm going to go tomorrow, even if it's just to see the girl's, I've barely left the house for a week so I think it'll make me feel better even if I don't do anything

Avocuddles · 16/02/2020 18:04

Hi ladies hope you've all had a good, relaxing day.

I've had waves of queasiness off and on throughout the day and lots of burping, very glamorous! Boobs are still sore too though I've been panicking myself as I've noticed that my Fitbit heart rate has dropped slightly over the past couple of days which is something I saw with both of my losses. Trying to reassure myself that it's just because I've had a couple of very lazy days and to take comfort in the other symptoms. It would be so lovely to experience pregnancy without this constant paranoia but it'll all be worth it if it works out!

OP posts:
didslysquiddlydoo · 16/02/2020 18:55

@Avocuddles I feel really sad that only do those who suffer losses have to go through that heartache, but it inevitably also really affects any future pregnancy experiences 😞 I can't offer too many words of wisdom because I'm going through very similar anxieties (with literally NO symptoms anymore) but I try to think that things are out of my hands at the moment - I can't affect what happens and all I can do is hold onto the positive that my last scan, like yours, was positive, and hope the next one will be too.. it's a tough time - I admire all the women in this thread navigating their way through pregnancy after loss xxx

Knotemma · 16/02/2020 18:56

@Avocuddles sorry that you're not having a great day. I went for a nap and slept through when I should have taken my tablets 🤦 not had a fun afternoon as a result. Cant take any until bedtime now, so I'm struggling a bit this afternoon. Watching old movies to try and keep my spirits up😂

SammiLou2312 · 16/02/2020 19:38

Hi all, we are tentatively allowing ourselves to get a little excited now and have told a few close family members. However I still go from being excited one minute to terrified and questioning my decision to tell folk the next lol. Hope you are all doing ok x
