Hi,

Starting a thread for ladies in early pregnancy after one or more miscarriages or stillbirths. A safe place to let off steam and hopefully grow healthy rainbows together......

@Mumlili9 so sorry to hear that babe, I wish you all the best for the future. Your time will come but for now take it steady, look after yourself and let yourself heal x

Treaclepie19 · 06/02/2020 22:38

I'm so sorry @Mumlili9. Look after yourself Flowers

avocadoincident · 07/02/2020 05:45

This is a difficult and wonderful
thread to be on as we all travel this precarious journey together.

@Mumlili9 Not sure if you'll see these messages now but I'm gutted for you and wish you more luck as you deserve it.

To everyone having scans today, I'll be thinking of you all and waiting for positive updates. I know scans are nerve wracking times for us all rather than the excited trip to the hospital that they are for most mams.

SunStruck · 07/02/2020 06:21

@mumlili9 I am so, so sorry 😢 please take care of yourself and DH. I'm thinking of you ❤️

Good luck on the scans today ladies; I think there's a few having them? ❤️

Chanel05 · 07/02/2020 06:52

Hello all can I join?

First of all I'm sorry to see your message @Mumlili9 take care of yourself.

I'm 8+2 and I had a mmc last April and the baby stopped developing at 8+1. I'm having a lot of stress and anxiety this week based on the dates.

I had a scan at 7+1 and all was fine (though I had a full blown panic attack from the trigger of being in the waiting room for a scan). I find it hard to trust a scan as I know it's a snapshot in time. I'd had a scan at 6+1 last time and had seen a heartbeat so it's hard for me to feel reassured.

Scout20 · 07/02/2020 09:21

So sorry to read your update @Mumlili9. Thinking of you Flowers

Welcome @Chanel05 and @thelittlepeanut - sorry you find yourselves here.

How are you doing today, @TunnocksTcake?

I have my scan later on... good timing because I've just had a tiny bit of dark-coloured spotting this morning. Trying to remain calm and positive - I know dark-coloured is less bad than bright red and could just be implantation bleeding, and I haven't had any pain... but terrifying just the same. Hope everyone else is ok.

TunnocksTcake · 07/02/2020 10:44

Oh @mumlili9 so sorry Flowers
Well I've had a bit of a 24 hours. Dr rang me yesterday afternoon and then invited me in. Said back pain is actually a good sign and that all my vitals suggested nothing was wrong but if it got worse to go to Roy in the morning .
Had more cramps last night and woke me up today and I swear my symptoms are lessening so here I am at Epu. Been here since 8am and just been scanned. Can't remember a word they said but I saw a flicker! I'm measuring a bit behind (lmp suggests 6w2d but I know I ovulate late around cd17.) but they said it all looks great for slightly less than 6 weeks. I'm now waiting to speak to consultant person so will ask again about size of foetus. I've never got this far before, I think I might be more scared now because there's more to lose and I don't feel as pregnant as I have done! Shall see what they say about symptoms...

TunnocksTcake · 07/02/2020 10:45

*EPU not Roy!! Grin

Littlegoth · 07/02/2020 11:08

@TunnocksTcake I’m jimmy’s now waiting for my scan waves

tmc14 · 07/02/2020 11:59

Hi all
Can I please tentatively join? I was on the ttc thread a bit... I got a very faint positive last weekend at 3w3d, was a bit doubtful as my internet cheapies didn’t seem to get darker this week, but this morning got a nice dark line, and got 2-3weeks on a digital, so at 4w1d perhaps feeling like I can safely join?

I’m 40, ttc #2 for a year, had a miscarriage last October at 10w4d (baby stopped growing at 8w4d). Feeling very anxious but trying not to overthink everything. Have had awful back and hip pain this week which worries me but seems to have settled down, and was probably completely unrelated.

Sorry to those who are struggling, and good luck to those having scans. I saw my last little bean at 8w2d, perfect heartbeat so not sure an early scan will help me! But I’ll probably have at least one anyway. How did those who miscarried after positive scans decide whether to bother or not?

SW83 · 07/02/2020 12:02

Hi @thelittlepeanut and @Chanel05 ! Crossing my fingers for good outcomes for you both :-)

@TunnocksTcake this totally sounds like good news! Especially if you ovulated late, as it explains it? Hard to say on the symptoms as I'm still yet to have any. So I'm really hoping what I'm reading is right, and they just come and go. (Or in my case don't show up at all!)

Fingers crossed for everyone else who's having a scan today xxx

Nooodles · 07/02/2020 12:33

@Mumlili9 So so sorry to read your update, we are all sending you so much love, please take care and be kind to yourself.

Nooodles · 07/02/2020 12:36

Welcome @tmc14 :) I wasn’t sure whether to have an early scan for the reasons you described, as it turned out I had one yesterday at the EPU after a bleed, and it has put my mind at ease to know that everything “so far” is good. I’m not feeling any more excited or any less anxious when I look to the future, but it has eased the initial worries of “will it have a heartbeat, will it even start to grow, will it be in the right place” - so I do feel better for it :)

Hello to @thelittlepeanut and @Chanel05 too ✨💛

@Tunnockstcake So glad your scan is positive so far, let us know how the consultant goes - and @Scout20 and anyone else having a scan today! Thinking of you all 💛✨ xxx

Littlegoth · 07/02/2020 13:01

I’m also measuring behind at 5 weeks (lmp has me at 6+1. Trying not to worry I have longer cycles and know ovulation wasn’t until around 13th jan but history means I’m anxious and waiting for bad news. Fingers crossed though x

TunnocksTcake · 07/02/2020 13:11

Good luck @scout20!
Hi to the newbies 👋

So it was measuring 4.7mm literally just under 6 weeks so that makes perfect sense with ovulation. She was really happy with everything and said it all looked perfect, but they did find lucozites or something in my wee which they are sending off so I might have a UTI or something which could explain all this. I took a picture of my sheet with notes on when she left the room so I would remember, it said my uterus is 'bulky' which is a very odd expression!
Re symptoms she basically dismissed my concerns and said that your hormones fluctuate so much day to day and therefore so do your symptoms. Also it's still super early to be feeling anything so she said it's good that I have had nausea and boob pain etc. At first she thought I was asking why I was getting symptoms not why they were disappearing haha! She was like 'those are all normal pregnancy symptoms...' must have thought I was such a noob!
So going to try and concentrate on being positive despite any symptoms or lack thereof 🙏

TunnocksTcake · 07/02/2020 13:14

@littlegoth try not to worry I know it is concerning but there are so many factors involved- it's hard to measure when they are that small to start with and so many people catch up by their 12 week scans. Also you can ovulate up to 36 hours after positive OPKs and sperm live for up to 5 days (I know you know all this!) I also read somewhere they say ultrasounds at this stage are accurate +/- 5 whole days! Have faith.

Littlegoth · 07/02/2020 13:30

@TunnocksTcake thanks x it was external scan only too. Roll on next week!

Positive news for you too, glad you could see the consultant. Going to be a rollercoaster few months for us all x

Seahawk80 · 07/02/2020 16:27

@Littlegoth I was measuring so behind, 5 weeks when I thought I was 6+6 and all was ok 2 weeks later so there is hope especially if you have long cycles.

@Mumlili8 so sorry to read your update Thanks

thelittlepeanut · 07/02/2020 16:51

Hi ladies! Thanks for the warm welcome.

I've been cramping quite badly this afternoon and I'm freaking out. Is it normal? I don't think I had cramps this bad last time, but then it did result in a mc so maybe cramps are good. I was out and about all morning so feel like I overexerted myself!

Can't believe how I'm over analysing every little thing!

To the ladies having early scans, are you doing them privately?

SammiLou2312 · 07/02/2020 16:59

Happy weekend ladies! So happy to see all the good news about scans that have happened today. I have my next one on Monday morning and am equal parts excited and terrified at the same time lol!

@thelittlepeanut I think a lot of us are being seen under the hospital due to previous issues but some are having private scans done

Hope you all have a great weekend. I'm hoping to catch up on some sleep. The exhaustion is so bad ATM I could happily sleep for 15 hours a day 😴😴

Hagster · 07/02/2020 17:13

Hi all, very early days for me, definitely pregnant but not even 4 weeks after a missed MC last year at my 12 week scan (9 weeks gestation, body just really hadn't caught on). Just taking each day as it comes, celebrating every symptom, reminding myself of statistics and setting tiny targets - my first is to reach 4 weeks (Monday). Question* - How common is it for them to offer a 7 week scan on the NHS after you've had a miscarriage? I live in Manchester so will be under St Mary's (hopefully, if we get that far).

By the way thank you for starting this thread, it's a lovely idea and I'm super grateful to have a space to talk as we're telling even fewer people this time until we reach the magic 12 week milestone.

*"tell me what you think about me..." Sorry, can't say "question" without finishing the lyrics. Apologies.

SammiLou2312 · 07/02/2020 17:25

Welcome @Hagster

I think it depends on your history with pregnancy. I have been getting early scans as I am under a recurrent miscarriage clinic at the hospital. You can get private scans done if you want an early one. There are a few companies out there that aren't too expensive x

Avocuddles · 07/02/2020 17:29

@Hagster 😂 l always say 'question' too!
Sorry to hear about your loss but tentative congratulations to you, these first few weeks are so nervewracking but this is a great place to share all your fears and questions.

I wasn't allowed an early NHS scan after my first loss as it's not policy in my area unless you are bleeding. This time round however I'm having a scan at 7 weeks (Monday, eeek!) as after two miscarriages they were more willing, especially as I'm very anxious after a negative private scan experience before my 2nd loss.

@tmc14 welcome! You're definitely more than ready to join at 4w1d. Like you I tested really early but didn't really accept it as 'real' unless I'd passed the four week mark. Try not to worry about your aches and pains but everyone here will vouch for the fact that you'll be super sensitive to every single twitch from now on!

@SammiLou2312 happy weekend to you too! Crossing my fingers that we both have positive scans to look forward at the start of next week, until then hope you have a relaxing time....

@thelittlepeanut I remember you from the TTC board, great to see you here. I'm having plenty of crampy feelings, think most of them are my digestive system but it's hard to not analyse every one of them.

@TunnocksTcake sorry you had an eventful 24 hours but really glad everything is looking ok.

Good news for you too @Littlegoth! My scan is at seacroft rather than Jimmy's which I'm glad about as I've had bad news twice in the same room there. Was at LGI today for the first appointment with my consultant, all ok but need to increase my aspirin dose to 150mg daily now.

Does anyone have much exciting lined up this weekend or is it a well deserved chilled one for most of us? Think I'll be getting a takeaway tonight as way too tired to hit the shops!

SammiLou2312 · 07/02/2020 17:33

@Avocuddles when did you start on your aspirin? I was told by midwife last pregnancy that I needed to take it due to my age and weight but when I asked consultant about it this time she told me I don't need to start until 12 weeks 😕

Avocuddles · 07/02/2020 18:42

@SammiLou2312 because of my history of clotting I have to take it as soon as I get a BFP along with heparin injections. I think if it's prescribed due to pre eclampsia risk they tend to start at 12 weeks?
