Oh and how much does he weigh?

Soda123x · 22/01/2020 18:58

@GoodShipSerenity aww congratulations on the birth of Noah, he is gorgeous. Aww It must be so difficult him being so close but not able to pick him up and give him a big squeeze but I'm sure he is getting all the care he needs and will soon be big and strong and running rings round you xx

GoodShipSerenity · 22/01/2020 19:51

@CupCupGoose Noah is my second, I have an older DS who is 4, so I feel really split between the 2 boys. Noah weighs 5lb 13oz which is a whole pound heavier than the growth scans were predicting. In this case, I'm so glad that they were wrong and he is bigger than thought. Enjoy pottering about and getting the last minute bits together, it goes quicker than you believe.

@Soda123x it really is difficult being so close to him and not being able to scoop him up and snuggle him close. I'm making do with holding his hand and stroking his head. I cannot wait until both boys are getting into trouble together

Bree88 · 23/01/2020 14:40

Am due Feb 21st but am convinced I might spill into March. My Ds1 was late by 13 days
Havnt packed bag yet but spent all day deep cleaning my kitchen. At least that has distracted me a bit from the constant panic and anxiety am having regarding labor.Am terrified of labor.SadLast time I had epidural.Lots of people are saying there might not be enough time for epidural as second labor are quite fast.
The thought of no epidural is making me shit my pantsHmm

CupCupGoose · 24/01/2020 15:01

@GoodshipSerenity how are you and noah today? Ah I know I must be hard splitting your time between your two boys but it's not forever. Don't be too hard on yourself. Have you been discharged from hospital yet?

@Bree88 I had an epidural with my first but not with my second. My second went a lot smoother and was much easier. Have you spoken to your midwife about how anxious you are feeling? Mine were 12 and 13 days late so I'm expecting this one to be late too. Knowing my luck it will be born on the 29th Feb!

I've had such bad back ache today. My job involves standing up all day and lots of lifting. I don't do as much lifting as before but I can avoid it all so I've really struggled today. So glad it's Friday!

Heymoo · 24/01/2020 15:59

I’m due 5th February! I would say I’m ready and prepared with most things, I’ve been in crazy cleaning mode at the moment and nesting a whole bunch!

Hospital bags are packed, just waiting on baby girl now 💜

GoodShipSerenity · 24/01/2020 21:35

@CupCupGoose we have had so much progress in the last day or so! The need for the ventilator went right down and medications have been taken off. Noah had his first feed through his NG tube yesterday and today had his breathing tube removed! He is still receiving a little help but it's so much less than before. And most of all I was able to have my first cuddle this evening when I went to check on him after dinner!

February 2020 mums how prepared are you!?
hazandduck · 24/01/2020 21:53

He is gorgeous @GoodShip congratulations.

I am due 6th of February with my second and feeling sooo nervous it keeps coming in waves of panic!! Which i know won’t help.

Our upstairs rooms are all in chaos apart from our bathroom, the nursery where 2 yo DD sleeps is now full of the new baby’s clothes but she still sleeps in there atm...and the study is slowly being turned in to DD’s new room so our landing is stacked with books and paperwork etc that we need to find new homes for..! Not very baby ready when all I want to do is hoover and tidy.

We have the next to me set up but I’m kind of using it as a place to put my phone as it charges and whatever I’m reading or writing in bed 😄 like a little bedside table. Hard to imagine it will have a newborn in it imminently!

Hope everyone is well. Does anyone else feel like time has flown since the BFPs of last summer??

CupCupGoose · 24/01/2020 22:07

@GoodshipSerenity aww I'm so pleased to read your update you sound so much happier than you did in your post before. I'm so pleased naohs made so much progress and you've finally been able to hold him! Weird to think I'm going to be having one of those soon! Grin you look really well too!

I've well and truly fucked my back! I can't stand up straight! Im feeling very emotional this evening. I don't know why.

CupCupGoose · 24/01/2020 22:11

@hazandduck the time has flown! I still don't think I actually believe I'm going to have another real life baby in a few weeks!

I have a next to me crib and purposly avoided putting it up yet as I know I'll use it as a bed side table too haha. I'm not due until the 17th though so still plenty of time.

How old is your DC1?

GoodShipSerenity · 24/01/2020 22:12

I am still an inpatient and the ward are not in a hurry to rush me out at the moment, which is nice because I'm close to Noah this way. Depending on Noah's recovery there is the possibility of him joing me on the ward prior to discharge. At least I have a side room so I can shut the door and not be disturbed

hazandduck · 24/01/2020 22:37

That is nice you’re not being rushed, I can’t imagine how hard it’s been not being able to hold your baby and being away from your older little boy! Really hope you all get to be at home together soon.

@CupCupGoose my DD turned 2 in November and is in the throes of the terrible twos 🙈 I think my pregnancy is exacerbating things. Can’t wait for baby to come so I can just pick her up and have her comfortably on my lap etc. She adores babies though so I am hoping she looks after her little sibling well :)

45andfine · 25/01/2020 11:46

@goodshipserenity How Lovely to see you and Noah together ❤️. That must've been such a special moment. So glad he's now progressing quickly and that your not under pressure to leave the hospital. Fingers crossed you'll be able to feed him soon xx

Mummy2beAT · 25/01/2020 11:56

@GoodShipSerenity I'm so glad you got to cuddle Noah, I'm glad he's doing well
I was wondering if anyone had similar symptoms as me and if it's worth being checked out
I'm 36 weeks pregnant and have a constant aching sore pain down below. The last few days it was on and off and I assumed it was because baby was really low. Last night and today the pain seems to have moved over to the right side of my vagina/ down below but the pain is constant and sore and I'm struggling to walk properly . Has anyone else had this

Mol5 · 25/01/2020 13:26

Hi @Mummy2beAT! I’m also 36 weeks and I have very severe SPD which I’ve had since 14 weeks. It sounds to me just like SPD which is more commonly onset at 30+ weeks so would be normal for you to get now at 36 weeks. Is the pain more sore when you’re walking/active/using your legs/pelvis, and calms down when you are sedentary? Google symptoms/effects of SPD and if that matches then I wouldn’t worry about it, just mention at your next regular midwife appt. (sadly there’s no treatment at this stage either way)

CupCupGoose · 25/01/2020 16:48

I really feel for you having spd. I've been getting mild hip/pelvic pain and that's bad enough!

I've finally packed my hospital bag! My back is still really hurting and I still can't stand up straight. Hope I am okay for work on Monday...

dontbenastyhaveapasty · 25/01/2020 22:05

@goodshipserenity so glad to hear Noah is doing well! I've been lurking on this thread as my 3rd is due towards the end of Feb, and I've just seen your updates.

I just wanted to post to send positive vibes your way - my eldest son was born with IUGR and weighed 5lb 13 too - he's now 8years old, loves swimming and running and is keen to do his first mini triathlon this year - a bundle of energy and fit as a fiddle. No health problems and everything worked out despite the desperate worry when he was a newborn!

I will never forget the emotional roller coaster and the rivers of tears I shed during the first weeks and months of his life. But it did pass, and everything was ok in the end. I hope this helps you a bit in the dark moments you are probably having now.

CupCupGoose · 28/01/2020 11:41

I had a midwife appointment today and they've offered me a sweep next week. I'll be 38+1. Babys head isn't engaged at all and my last two were 12 and 23 days late so I really doubt it will do anything. I didn't even know you could have a sweep this early.

tinatsarina · 28/01/2020 17:06

I'm 36 weeks tomorrow and I'm sore and uncomfortable. Back pain with occasional Braxton Hicks isn't helping. Getting baby's room finished on Thursday and my mum has ordered drawers which will be arriving Saturday so hopefully by the end of the week it'll be finished.

45andfine · 28/01/2020 23:06

@cupcupgoose oooo sounds like they want to get you labouring a bit earlier than your previous!!

Sweeps are quite undignified aren't they?! But be better than going very over due!

45andfine · 28/01/2020 23:09

@tinatserina my Braxton Hicks have been quite painful this time around, must be nice having the room ready for baby though. My poor little one is going to be shoe horned into my room 🤣

Sushirolls · 29/01/2020 01:26

@45andfine apologies for the delay in replying, life is a whirlwind at the moment, as DD has had lots of appointments and is currently in the middle of decorating and an unexpected move! Great news is that she doesn't need brain surgery, so DGS2 can stay cooking until he's ready to arrive 🎉 In answer to your question, her cramps aren't related to her BP as that's actually been ok. At her last appt she did have protein though and they double checked her BP again and were asking about swelling. DGS1 was an SGA baby & there was a query if she had pre eclampsia towards the end (finally decided she didn't, but it was just before he arrived anyway). Have you been having problems with yours? Hope you're no longer suffering from your cramps Smile

@GoodShipSerenity congratulations on beautiful Noah 💙 I'm so pleased that you've managed to have a cuddle 🥰 DD (who's currently pg) was IUGR and weighed 5lbs 14oz my DGS1 was an SGA baby and weighed just 6lbs so she's been having growth scans with DGS2 Smile He was 6lbs 4oz at 36 weeks so he's already bigger than his brother Smile

I hope everyone is looking forward to meeting your little bundles of joy 😍 and no one is struggling in the last weeks. DD will be fully moved into her new house by the weekend, so we're hoping we have no surprises until then! X

Lou2120 · 29/01/2020 07:09

Hi ladies I'm pleased you all seem to be doing well although I think we are all suffering in the last few weeks. Pregnancy is so hard at this stage.

I'm 36 plus 3 now and I saw my consultant yesterday and I will be induced at 40 plus 4 if baby doesnt arrive by then!! So we now have a date of 27th February to work towards as I'm sure she wont be early but who knows!

I'm going to be doing extra bits around the house every week until then. I want to Make a few meals
Put all my paperwork away
Sort through my son's wardrobe
Still need to setup moses basket and nappy caddies
Just to name a few things. I really want to be organised this time as shes my 3rd so already busy with 2 at home.

CupCupGoose · 29/01/2020 07:59

@45andfine, what number baby is this for you? I've been getting a lot of braxton hicks this time round too. I don't actually mind sweeps. I had 4 with DC2 and none of them worked. Maybe I just have a high pain threshold but I barely even felt the sweeps. The last one I got, the midwife said she was going to 'really go for it' and was surprised when I said it wasn't uncomfortable!

@Lou2120 great that you've got a date! How exciting. I've got so much I want to get done too. Only 3 days left at work woohoo!

GoodShipSerenity · 29/01/2020 08:06

I've been away for a few days as I chose to be discharged on Saturday evening in order to come home and provide a little bit of normality for DS1. Since then I've been splitting my time between home and hospital trying to maximise time with both boys (and expressing breast milk every 3 hours).

Noah has had an amazing rate of improvement since Friday when he was extubated, he was on optiflow for oxygen support over the weekend and Monday and yesterday when to nasal cannula. Monday also saw Noah have his feeding assessment by our cleft nurse which he passed, so we have been introducing bottle feeds. Noah had a brain MRI yesterday to assess after he was without adequate oxygen for a little while when he was born, so we need to wait for the results. Noah moved into HDU in the last few days also and is in an open cot, so I'm not restricted with cuddles any more!

@dontbenastyhaveapasty thank you. We were as prepared as much as possible for Noah to have a cleft lip and palate and SGA as both issues were picked up on my scan at 21 weeks. But the breathing problems and other physical markers have thrown us a little, and rightly the combination of physical markers means that the geneticists are keen to review. I have no doubt that once Noah is home and bigger he will be running rings around me, he has shown himself to have a real fiesty character.

@Sushirolls thank you for your kind words. Although Noah is SGA he has a little bit of chunk to him, so I like to think of him as compact.

I hope everyone else on the thread is as well as possible and managing to rest as much as you can, impossible I know especially if you have older DC
