@sushirolls I've been getting ready awful cramp in the top of my foot. Always same place and visible! Nothing helps it go away. So painful. Hoping that now I'm off work the rest will help. Is it blood pressure related?

tinatsarina · 14/01/2020 20:21

So I had an appointment today and mentioned these tightnings so they did a speculum exam to see if I was dilating or if there was waters leaking but all ok just have to keep an eye incase they get more frequent or stronger. Got the pram finished today and my dad ordered a Moses basket and stand and bath for us. His mum is getting us a bedside crib so that's alot of stuff off the list

How did midwife visit go @cupcupgoose? I've never had a home visit from midwife before baby was born? Hope it went alright in the end and wasn't too much of a faff.

That's good @tinatsarina that all is OK! Better to get checked. Puts your mind at ease and always nice to get some things ticked off the list!

I had midwife today and baby is very low and engaged but know that means nothing really. Hoping not to go past due date though as I am donnnneeeee.

@cupcupgoose the booking visit at 10 weeks is usually done at your house. Maybe they missed this? I like to think it's so they know where your house is incase you go into labour at home?!? They will come around after the baby too, but agree it's a pain when you have antisocial dogs like mine!! Hope it went well, they aren't inspecting the place!

emmyloucuddles · 15/01/2020 10:37

Is it @45andfine ! They don't do home visits pre baby in my area so that's interesting it's standard at 10 weeks where you are. Does make sense x

doublebarrellednurse · 15/01/2020 11:38

I don't get a home visit either in Derbyshire!

CupCupGoose · 15/01/2020 15:41

They don't do the booking in appointment at home just the 36 week one here apparently. Weird how things are done differently in different areas. I ended up rescheduling it as I couldn't be bothered to be honest!

45andfine · 15/01/2020 17:19

Ohhhh. Just assumed it was standard! Maybe my midwives are just nosey!!🤔

CupCupGoose · 15/01/2020 17:41

It makes more sense for the booking apointment to be at home as its probably the longest appointment.

tinatsarina · 15/01/2020 22:12

I'm in NI and we get midwife home visits after the birth not before

CupCupGoose · 16/01/2020 18:45

I keep getting loads of braxton hicks at work but I don't really get them much at home. I'm on my feet all day and worried I'm over doing it. Only 2 weeks after tomorrow luckily! Is anyone else a little bit sad about going on maternity leave? Obviously I can't wait for the time off but at the same time, I love the people I work with and I'm going to miss seeing them everyday!

jldy2020 · 16/01/2020 19:32

Have my hospital bag done now so feeling more prepared! Feel like the time after Xmas has gone really quickly.

@CupCupGoose I am! Looking forward to the mat leave to spend time with the baby, but also feeling a bit sad to be 'leaving' my job for a bit, and having to handover everything!

CupCupGoose · 16/01/2020 20:41

I'm glad I'm not the only one @jldy2020. Have you got long left at work? I STILL haven't done my hospital bag.

tinatsarina · 16/01/2020 21:58

@CupCupGoose my maternity officially started today and I'm loving it. It was supposed to be the end of the month but I moved it up as I was getting bad pelvic pain etc.

GoodShipSerenity · 16/01/2020 22:08

Hello everyone!

I'm due the 8th of Feb however due to a combination of a SGA baby and now a rise in my blood pressure I'm going to be induced on Saturday! Luckily I have all the equipment and home now and just need to sterilise the bottles for the hospital bag. Oh and actually put together the bouncer, which I am trying to hold off on as I know that DS will be sitting in it and break if its up too long before baby arrives.

45andfine · 17/01/2020 07:41

I'm my third day into maternity leave and missing the social side of working! On plus side though swollen feet and hands disappeared and it's LOVELY being able to sit down as and when. Braxton Hicks have also reduced and only really start when I walk the dog!

I haven't packed my bag yet though... Or washed any of the nappies/ clothes etc.

doublebarrellednurse · 17/01/2020 15:54

@CupCupGoose I'm the same! I'll miss work immensely and I love my job. I'm taking 6 months off and my husband is taking another 3 after that so we are sharing but it's very hard. I'm looking forward to baby though!

jldy2020 · 17/01/2020 22:28

Good luck @GoodShipSerenity, hope it goes well!

@CupCupGoose a week and a half left of work. Ive only just packed the bag, I kept putting it off!

Glad a few people have said the same about work, makes me feel better - I was starting to feel guilty about it!

Savvysaz · 18/01/2020 14:21

I'm also due Feb 28th. All organised - bags packed, nursery ready. Still need to fit car seat/base into my car though. I've another 4 weeks of work to go! Haven't even looked at how to use steriliser....

Savvysaz · 18/01/2020 14:24

Also interested to hear some people saying they have an indication of current baby weight cause I've had literally nothing

doublebarrellednurse · 18/01/2020 14:31

I'm due the 24th and haven't fitted the car seat yet either :/ whoops

I had a scan at 34 weeks and it indicated weight then!

latheritup · 18/01/2020 14:40

Everything is ready. Bags are packed also!

GoodShipSerenity · 18/01/2020 14:57

@jldy2020 thank you, induction has started now so just waiting.

@Savvysaz I have been monitored in Blood Pressure Clinic as I had high blood pressure in my last pregnancy and this has involved regular scans so we have been able to build a picture

emmyloucuddles · 18/01/2020 15:15

Good luck @GoodShipSerenity !!

Hope it all goes well!!

I've been having growth scans because baby is on the big side but as my first was 9 pound 4 they said they will let me attempt labour naturally up to a predicted birth weight of 11 pounds Shock

Good grief....

45andfine · 18/01/2020 15:50

I've only been having growth scans because of my age. Don't think they're standard
