Sorry @ParksandRecreation ignore where I mention labour - know you're having a planned c-section. All the tips for bag still apply though for my friends who have had them Smile xx

emmyloucuddles · 13/01/2020 14:36

@Lou2120 ah see I'm still waiting for my nesting phase to come so I can get some house jobs done too! Right now I just want to lie down, watch Netflix eating chocolate, sleep and repeat. Hoping next week I will have the energy and inclination to do what you are doing haha.

Lou2120 · 13/01/2020 14:47

@emmyloucuddles I'm sure it will kick in after a few days relaxing. Some days I feel I can manage to do it and others I dont move off the sofa. I'm suffering so bad with my SPD its agony so when I have a good day I try and make the most of it.

I've also wrote a list of jobs I want to achieve before baby comes.

Oh and another good one for the hospital bag is some change for the car park! I've got £15 worth of change just for parking and coffee for the hubby you never know might come in handy

@Lou2120 i have had excruciating SPD as well hun, it's sucks doesn't it. Gradually got worse and worse since 20 weeks. I just want my mobility back so much!! I'm trying to do things on my good days too which are getting few and far between but hoping some rest will help and I can feel a bit more active. I've been using crutches recently just to get me round the house and working from home now because I can't drive anymore....arghhh.
Fingers crossed it disappears promptly after birth for the both of us!!

Good idea re change in the bag! X

Lou2120 · 13/01/2020 15:44

@emmyloucuddles I really do sympathise with you! It's awful isnt it. I've got crutches to. My physio said that 6 weeks after birth the pain should go! I hope so! Really does make doing simple things harder doesnt it

I'm due on the 25th and feel a little bit behind you lot, but I go on mat leave next week and I think I'm going to be quite bored... so leaving baby bag until then!
Nursery isn't sorted, but I don't feel too fussed about that yet because she won't be going in there for a while and again, mat leave will give me lots of time to shop.

Pram/crib/carseat + base all sorted.

Other big-ish thing we need to decide on is a bouncer/swing type chair for downstairs.

Lou2120 · 13/01/2020 16:33

@justiceforbarb we decided to have a mose basket and stand upstairs and downstairs were going to use our travel cot it's got a cot top changer on it and it's one with a bassinet for newborns etc then once shes a but older I'll use her bouncy chair downstairs. I just dont want to be carrying her moses basket up and down the stairs everyday

Hey!
I'm due with 1st baby 28th Feb.
I think we are mostly ready now and I packed my hospital bag this weekend.
The travel system is staying at my parents house until baby arrives (expect car seat) due to that old wives tale about having it in the house.
I have had very large showing growth scans for the last few weeks so waiting for a consultant appt this week to find out about likelihood of induction.
To be honest - i'm over being pregnant now and in agony - I need baby out ASAP! But supposed to be working right up until 1 week before EDD.
Good luck everyone Smile

emmyloucuddles · 13/01/2020 17:22

@Mol5 how big is the baby measuring if you don't mind me asking. My baby is big too and am having growth scans every couple of weeks but they told me they'd let me go natural unless over a predicted 11 pounds Confused but think that's because I've already had one and she was 9 pound 4. I pushed her out fine so maybe I'll be alright with this one haha. Good luck! I don't blame you for wanting baby out - last weeks are the hardest. X

@Lou2120 6 weeks really! I was hopeful it would magically disappear after the baby came out haha. My osteo and physio have both said to go see them after though for a couple of recovery sessions.

We haven't gone for a downstairs crib or basket as I figured we'd just use the pram's bassinet for first few months when a downstairs nap is needed. Will how that works out though..

Which prams has everyone gone for? We've got a Bugaboo Fox. Keeping it at my parents too because of the old superstition.

Also can we talk birth plans? Mine is very short now as it's my second but hoping to be able have a water birth this time.

Xx

CupCupGoose · 13/01/2020 19:02

Emmy, I don't have a birth plan. Mines just to go with whatever happens and hopefully get to the hospital in time. I had a 4 hour labour with my first which doesn't sound too bad but my husband is working n hours drive away and the hospital is a 45 minute drive away.

Lcw29 · 13/01/2020 19:02

I'm due 26th feb. Have just about got hospital bags sorted for me and bubs. Nursery is getting there. Moses basket in our room shortly and changing table and clothes sorted. Need to get steriliser and clean a few bits but that's it. I'll feel better when I have my consultant appointment this Friday. Other than that it's a waiting game really.

Must admit I'll be glad when he's out now. Feel very uncomfortable and off my food bleh

BarleyG · 13/01/2020 19:41

I’m also due 28th Feb Smile
Everything is washed and put away ready. I still need to assemble the pram, put the Isofix base in the car and order a new mattress for the Moses basket but everything else is ready. Hospital bag is packed but I haven’t started carrying it around in the car just yet!

Lou2120 · 13/01/2020 20:09

My baby is measuring big also I was told at 32 weeks shes 4 pound 14oz ready. I'm 34 plus 1 now and I feel huge but I think I was bigger with my other 2 and they were only 7.7 and 8lb.

OP posts:
buddhababy2019 · 13/01/2020 20:58

I was told at 28 week growth scan baby was measuring 3lb 7oz but then at my 34 week midwife appt, she said I'm only showing on 50th centile so who knows? My first born was a chunk - 7lb 9oz at 5 weeks early!!

CupCupGoose · 13/01/2020 21:36

Oh wow bud, can you imagine how big they'd have been if you'd got to 40 weeks!

tinatsarina · 13/01/2020 21:48

I'm 26th as well we have pram and car seat from my first just need to get a new apron for the top of the carrycot. The cots in the room but no mattress, bath, moses basket aiming to get these in the next few weeks. No hospital bag ready either. Birth plan is basically see how it goes.
I'm getting uncomfortable Braxton Hicks atm anyone else? I thought they weren't supposed to be painful

doublebarrellednurse · 13/01/2020 21:51

Due the 24th and pretty much there. Had a 37 week baby before so am pretty keen to be ready in advance!

Room is all set most of my bag is packed. Not ready to give birth yet though and would rather like a bit of down time after finishing work on 14th and having baby!

emmyloucuddles · 13/01/2020 21:56

Sounds like a few of us are due a little chunk. Do you think there was something in the water for these feb babiesGrin

See how it goes plan is the best birth plan isn't it. I just had such a horrible time last time as I was induced I am hoping to make this experience a little more positive.

@tinatsarina I am getting the painful BHs too - midwife said they can hurt but obviously not as much as the real thing does... Hopefully it means our bodies are preparing! X

S082018 · 13/01/2020 22:59

Hi all just joining in!

I am 35+6 today and due 11th Feb with my first baby. Baby also coming up a bit on the bigger side! Had a growth scan today and he's at 6lbs 4oz already 🙈
Currently in hospital due to being admitted with high blood pressure but zero signs of pre-eclampsia which is positive. BP has now stabilised and they're just keeping me in for monitoring. Fingers crossed I'll be out in the morning!
Will be having a chat with the doctor tomorrow re options given the baby is a bit on the bigger side but from conversations I've had so far, baby's size is no reason to induce at the moment! If anything, they'd be looking to induce me if concerns continue around my BP.

buddhababy2019 · 13/01/2020 23:48

@CupCupGoose they reckoned he'd have been well over 10lb if he'd gone to term!! Makes my eyes water thinking about it lol

Sushirolls · 14/01/2020 01:01

Evening Smile is anyone else suffering from severe leg cramps at night? DD has been getting them for a few weeks now and they're really disturbing her sleep Sad

frillyfarmer · 14/01/2020 06:46

Morning! Due 28th Feb and excited at the prospect of being able to sleep on my back and front again 😂

I thought I was good to go but whilst laying awake this morning I realised I need to pack an overnight bag for DS1 who will have to go to Granny’s if I do go naturally.

Lcw29 · 14/01/2020 07:27

@frillyfarmer I hadn't thought of that! Good shout. Need to get that done for DS .

I've had painful BH too. Thought I was going into preterm labour. Apparently I have SPD which is making the pain worse. My hubby thinks I'm starting to drop but I dont know. Heartburn has been less though.

CupCupGoose · 14/01/2020 07:33

Have any of you had to have a home visit from the midwife? I've got one today and I really can't be arsed. My dogs will not be happy about a stranger in the house wanting to touch me! I didn't have a home visit with either of my other two. I'm not sure what they will do different to seeing me at the clinic.

CupCupGoose · 14/01/2020 07:35

@frillyfarmer I hadn't even thought about packing a bag for the DC. Great idea, I'll definitely be doing that.
