This is a safe space and supportive thread for anyone who is pregnant following a loss. We all understand the worry and anxiety that can come from being pregnant again following miscarriage/stillbirth.

Please feel free to join, even if you were not on the original TTC thread.

Starting the roll call copied from the last thread. Not everyone is on there, so please add to it/update/edit.
Also, thought it might be fun if we add Girl/Boy/Surprise on there too, so we can see who's expecting what

Hi all.

Little Brother (sorry I don't want to give real name) was born this morning at 9.17am. The measurements were right as he weighed 9lb 4oz! Thank goodness he came out of the sunroof!

The elective section was a completely different experience to last time! I was first in - got to the hospital at 7am and was in theatre at 8.35. I was very nervous but it was calm and quick. The atmosphere was so relaxed - the surgeons and staff were chatty and laughing and the radio was on. Little Brother was given to me straight away and stayed on me while they stitched me up. I am just amazed at how different the whole experience has been and so pleased I pushed and chose the birth that was right for me. Sure any of you having an elective after a traumatic birth won't be disappointed!

Breastfeeding is going well (so far, very aware my painful nipples came later last time and he is still a sleepy newborn so no cluster feeding yet!)

DD came earlier today and was so happy and calm and gentle. I cried seeing my new little family.

Bad news is husband has been sent home and I'm on a ward alone. Already worried about lifting Little Brother (who is on me feeding) back into his cot and how tired I'm going to be tomorrow and the coming days. Won't be getting much sleep here! Also worried about infection and my wound opening!

Rubyroost · 30/12/2019 23:53

Awwww that's wonderful news @MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue I've got little tear in my eye. I'm sure your wound will be fine, remember you've done all this before. And although he's a whopper, at 9lb I'm sure you'll be fine lifting him. Here's to a quick recovery and hope you're home soon xx

Melpops36 · 30/12/2019 23:58

@MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue congratulations!! Fantastic news. Xx

MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue · 31/12/2019 00:02

Meant more as I can't sit up/twist about that easily @Rubyroost as opposed to him being a little chunk 😂 Happy staring at him for a bit anyway 😍

Rubyroost · 31/12/2019 00:09

I remember the feeling well and the pain b feeding when the baby is almost resting on your scar. You'll get through it though and I'm sure you'll be fine. Those early days are worrying.

Bluebelltulip · 31/12/2019 00:25

@MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue congratulations! Don't be afraid to buzz to get help moving him. I hope you recover well and get home for proper rest.

RedRobin7 · 31/12/2019 08:41

@Bluebelltulip @MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue Congratulations to you both!!

@Laney79 Good luck today!!

@Squiff70 So sorry someone said those things to you. Glad to hear Ava is still fighting xx

Bluebelltulip · 31/12/2019 08:54

Would anyone be interested in a post natal thread?

frillyfarmer · 31/12/2019 08:58

Huge congratulations @MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue 💞

I was thinking something like that would be great @Bluebelltulip - I actually wondered whether people might prefer to do it on a secret FB group as it's easier to catch up and "share" but I appreciate everyone has different views on FB groups VS MN!

Beaglemum93 · 31/12/2019 09:12

Congratulations @MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue! I hope your first night together has gone well and that you are recovering.

@Bluebelltulip and @frillyfarmer I'd be interested in a postnatal group either on mumsnet or a secret Facebook group.

Kayjay2018 · 31/12/2019 09:34

@MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue congratulations on your son. What a good weight. I hope you are getting some help from the staff in hospital ( I had my son nearly 16 years ago but I still remember them helping the lady next to me with her son as she was sore after a c section)
@Laney79 I hope all goes well today for you
@Rubyroost I think the hospital would talk to you if they were worried. My little one has a rather large tummy compared to everything else. Next growth scan not for a while so will be interesting to see if things have changed. My MIL told me over Christmas that both my DH and his sister were whoppers (not what I really wanted to hear as I was 6lb 6oz and my some 6lb 10oz) maybe her sizings explain the tummy!
@InDreamland hope you had a better nights sleep last night. I'm getting sciatic nerve pain during the nights which is waking me up. My lovely pregnancy pillow doesn't seem to be doing much. Just feel a bit uncomfy and I'm only 21 weeks! People have been asking when I think I'll take maternity leave from and for me that's tricky. My DS arrived just after 37 weeks but had tried to arrive earlier and labour had been stopped. I think I'm aiming for 36 weeks too.

Well I had my second fetal heart scan yesterday, the actual consultant did the scan and was very thorough. Baby passed all checks ( a couple were off the low end of the scale but the specialist was not worried at all). Baby had it's head nestled on my bladder ( not at all uncomfortable) with one hand resting on the top of its head and the other fussing with its face. Managed to get a partial hand on head shot which looks very weird. Back to the specialist again at 32 weeks hopefully for sign off. Must keep up midwife heart rate checks till then, plus they are happy with my own daily checks. Still find I'm anxious that this one will develop an issue, specialists remind me its a very low risk so need to listen to her!

Bluebelltulip · 31/12/2019 09:36

I've created another thread for now then we can see if a FB group would be preferred/additional. I've tried to tag people but apologise if I've missed anyone.

BunnytheBlueWhale · 31/12/2019 09:40

@MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue Congratulations to you! I’m so pleased and the time seems to have passed so quickly. I can’t believe there will be a penguin post natal thread! (I have NC) Love to you all 💕

Twittlebee · 31/12/2019 10:01

Congratulations @MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue ! How amazing! What an end to 2019. Can seem so daunting without support from DH there, when will you be discharged?

ChikiTIKI · 31/12/2019 13:34

Congratulations @MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue !! On the safe and happy arrival of your baby. That's just wonderful news :) wishing you all the best for your recovery and beyond! Xxxxx

Seahawk80 · 31/12/2019 14:02

Congratulations @MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue amazing news! Don't be scared to buzz for help if you need DS passed to you. I had an emergency section with DS and actually the recovery was really fine. Just don't do too much, and be aware that toddlers heads are at scar height if they run into you! I learnt that the hard way from my niece!

sadtoday21 · 31/12/2019 14:27

Congratulations @MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue!!! What a wonderful way to bring in the new year!

Happy NYE to everyone! Wishing you all the best for this year ✨

Squiff70 · 31/12/2019 16:32

Massive congratulations @MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue!!

coconutlatte44 · 31/12/2019 18:22

Congrats @MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue!

Hope everyone is having a relaxing NYE! 37 weeks tomorrow and we are just buying and sorting final bits - picked up a changing table off gumtree today with some nice drawers so his clothes don’t need to be stacked up in my wardrobe anymore 😅 I think we’ll be packing the hospital bags tomorrow.

Anyone have plans this evening? Other than @Laney79 - hope everything has gone well for you so far today!!

fnej01 · 31/12/2019 18:23

Congratulations @MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue on the safe arrival of little brother. Hope your hospital stay is ok and you're home soon.

Had my 28 week midwife appt today and a growth scan. Growth still good. Only downside is baby stays quite happily transverse... seeing consultant on the 7th to decide next steps as they have always said I would be possible delivery from 34
Weeks due to aps diagnosis- so hopefully based on today's scan will start to make a plan. Feels like time is going really slow and really fast all at the same time.

Happy new year to you all. Xx

strawberrye · 31/12/2019 19:12

@MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue congratulations on the safe arrival of little brother and so glad to hear your delivery was much better this time around.

Thinking of you @Laney79 and hope everything is going well

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 31/12/2019 20:50

Had my growth scan today which was all good, but I definitely have preeclampsia now and it's starting to go a bit pearshaped so the consultant booked my elcs for the 8th when I'd just turn 37 weeks. Crazy to think I even could get that far given the pregnancy with DD, but fuck I'm so damn close and whilst I'm a bit shocked that it's next week I couldn't have asked for anything more. That's a whole 5 weeks better than with her. Unfortunately she also has bronchitis (mildly) and DH is back to work on the 2nd so we'll see how that goes. Everyone's bloody ill this time of year unfortunately 🤦🏻‍♀️

InDreamland · 01/01/2020 00:55

Happy New Year ladies! May 2020 be a year of happy healthy pregnancies and lots of rainbows 🌈

@Mistymeow thank you. It is hard not to fear the worst still. Thanks for the piece match reminder. I'll definitely be shopping around and then looking for a discount.

@coconutlatte44 I'm not sure, I've never had heartburn before so don't know how it feels like. You sound very organised.

@MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue Congratulations!!!! So pleased little brother was delivered safe and well and sounds like a very smooth delivery too. Great healthy weight there! Hope you get to go home soon and you heal well.

@Laney79 hope all is well.

@Rubyroost I'm not 34 weeks yet, am 33 so 1 week to go until then. I don't want Bubsy to come until at least 37 weeks. Funny all our worries, we will just never relax until they're safe in our arms.

@Bluebelltulip I love the idea of a post natal group! Thanks for starting it. I hope to join in 7 weeks time ..... or when Bubsy actually decides to arrive.

@Kayjay2018 it's horrible feeling uncomfortable in bed. 36 weeks to finish work sounds like a good plan. Glad the scan went well.

@fnej01 good to hear growth is good. What suits transverse mean? Is baby facing the wrong way?

@UnicornsandRainbows1 glad the growth scan was good but it must be a bit scary with ELCS is now so soon. Exciting at the same time though.

I'm trying to sleep but can't as Bubsy has hiccups so that's why I'm on here. DH is on duty tonight so I'm home alone.

Bluebelltulip · 01/01/2020 07:08

Happy new year everyone!

@fnej01 glad the scan went well, good luck for your appointment next week, wow 34 weeks isn't that far away.

@UnicornsandRainbows hope your DD is better soon.

fnej01 · 01/01/2020 09:16

@InDreamland baby is laying across my tummy under my belly button, with their back and bum facing out. They seem pretty comfy there at the moment but will hopefully wriggle around soon. I feel some weird and wonderful pregnancy yoga positions coming on...

Lovely to see a postnatal thread being set up x
