This is a safe space and supportive thread for anyone who is pregnant following a loss. We all understand the worry and anxiety that can come from being pregnant again following miscarriage/stillbirth.

Please feel free to join, even if you were not on the original TTC thread.

Starting the roll call copied from the last thread. Not everyone is on there, so please add to it/update/edit.
Also, thought it might be fun if we add Girl/Boy/Surprise on there too, so we can see who's expecting what

Good luck @rubyroost x

@frillyfarmer I'm so sorry you are going through this too, it is really stressful towards the end, especially once you go overdue. I'm not quite there yet, but I have a feeling I will be in the exact same position as you in just over a week, as I am also not having any signs of labour. I think it's terrible you had to push the consultant to be induced at 41, they should understand with your history and all the research there is really no need for you to suffer for another week. When I asked the consultant about induction at 38 weeks they said they would book me in for 41 (not for any health reasons, just anxiety), so it really seems like that should just be standard procedure. The good news is that you do have one scheduled now though, so that should be just a few days away? Thinking of you and hoping you are managing to rest as much as possible in these last few days and that baby is here with you soon Xxx.

@Rubyroost thinking of you too! Hope your silence means all is well and you are soon to be enjoying baby cuddles :).

So my anxiety got the best of my late last night, after three days of having a difficult time. Rang MAU and they told me to come in, was there until roughly 11 pm and really exhausted. The CTG looked fine, 10/10, but they wanted to keep me in overnight to do another one in the morning because I was still worried about it. I couldn't face spending the night in the hospital though, so I just went home and they said come back again if worried. They refused to do a scan, just more CTGs. I find these trips to the MAU really exhausting and stressful and the CTG never reassures me because I don't seem to pick up the movements they see on the computer :(. I'm beginning to really detest CTGs. Anyway, I see the midwife tomorrow and I'm going to ask for some help and a possible sweep. I don't know if it will do any good, but worse comes to worse I will just go get a private scan if my anxiety spikes this high again. Hopefully baby boy will pick up today, FX!

ChikiTIKI · 02/03/2020 13:40

Thinking of you today @Rubyroost as I believe it's your baby's birthday! Please correct me if I am wrong, I have some catching up to do.

My auntie died on Friday. In work today but very exhausted. Early night tonight. 4 weeks today is my c section date. Can't believe it. Just can't imagine finally meeting her ❤️

Hope you're all having a good start to the week. Sending love to all ❤️

This is probably a dumb question, but do I need to buy a nursing bra for just being at home with baby? Obviously will need one for going out, but do you leak a lot in the early days and can you not put breast pads into regular sports bras (i.e. will they not stay in place while sleeping, moving about, etc.?).

Just confused about what I actually need and not wanting to buy a lot if possible. TIA!

Bluebelltulip · 02/03/2020 14:44

@sadtoday21 some people don't leak but I did/do. A sports bra would hold pads in place but may be a bit awkward to only get one breast out to feed and I definitely leak from the opposite side when I feed so needs to be covered.

TwittleBee · 02/03/2020 14:59

Really does vary person to person @sadtoday21 with the leaking, I need to wear breastpads whilst pregnant and often soak through pads at night post birth and will randomly start "letting down" at the most silliest of things, i.e. a baby crying on an advert, me getting emotional over anything. A nursing bra doesnt have anything different to hold pads in place to stop leaks, its more just for ease of access. I should imagine a sports bra being very annoying trying to BF in though tbh! Nursing bras are super comfy and easy to use.

I am so sorry @ChikiTIKI Flowers

Nearing 24 weeks now and a lot of people keep remarking to me "how nice it must feel to approach viability" but it just doesnt feel like that to me... 22 weeks is when they intervene at my local hospital firstly but secondly after giving birth at 28+4 and having my baby die at 5 days old I just dont see any stage feeling nice until this baby is home and even then I am getting stressed by what could go wrong. My friend's little boy got rushed into NICU after a day of being born at 39 weeks due to a random and previously undetected heart problem! That is also making me think just how uncertain everything is.

MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue · 02/03/2020 15:27

I would get nursing bras more for easy access @sadtoday21. I rarely leak but can't imagine trying to juggle a non-nursing bra, trying not to flash and a hungry baby! If you're looking for cheap ones I can recommend Asda!! I'm a larger busy lady and they have been great!

Eagerly for news from @Rubyroost ...

MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue · 02/03/2020 15:28

Bust not busy! Although I'm that too 😂

ChikiTIKI · 02/03/2020 17:29

We are on page 40, does that mean we need a new thread soon?!

My boobs are pretty watertight, I barely used breast pads. I only leaked really in bed, at the start when building up supply and occasionally when DD started sleeping through the night so gaps between feeds increased and it took a short while for my body to adjust.

I am going to get reusable cotton breast pads this time as I think they will be more comfortable.

TwittleBee · 02/03/2020 18:02

Totally can confirm that reusable pads are far more comfy @ChikiTIKI !

And yes, we do need a new thread set up!

Rubyroost · 02/03/2020 19:06

Thanks for all the well wishes ladies, really means a lot. So today my 6lb 15 baby was born at 37 weeks, the one that measured consistently large on scans inc 6lb 3 at 32 weeks and 7lb 8 at 35 weeks! Yep.. He's shrunk. @Catconfusion keep that in mind!!

No name as yet. 😬

Catconfusion · 02/03/2020 19:15

Oh wow @rubyroost congratulations. I’m so pleased baby is here safely. Let us know how you’re feeling when you’re ready. Well the mind boggles. It would be interesting to know what your doctor’s explanation for this is. You’ve had so much extra worry. Anyway rest up and I hope your recovery is speedy xx

Rubyroost · 02/03/2020 19:22

Head circumference was 97th percentile tho, so that was right. Apart from that baby looks fairly small. I spose he would have been about 81/2 pound if he was born at term. Was definitely ready to come out though as had awful contractions for two days.

Catconfusion · 02/03/2020 19:53

It sounds like it’s worked out for the best @Rubyroost Interesting that the head is 97th centile. My DH has a big head and our baby’s head is currently looking 99.8 centile so I’m wondering if we’ll have a similar size and weight. I will update on Friday when we’ve had the 35 week scan.

fnej01 · 02/03/2020 19:55

Congratulations @Rubyroost x

Interesting how far the measurements were off. But most importantly very glad to hear of safe arrival. X

MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue · 02/03/2020 20:03

Big congratulations @Rubyroost!!! Sending love to you and your little man. I hope this birth experience was better than the last! Pop over to the FB group soon xxx

sadtoday21 · 02/03/2020 20:09

Congratulations @Rubyroost I’m so so happy for you! Rest and enjoy 😊

RedRobin7 · 02/03/2020 20:12

@Rubyroost Congratulations!!! So pleased and so happy for you! 💙

ChikiTIKI · 02/03/2020 20:22

Congratulations @Rubyroost wonderful news!! Xxxx

Mistymeow · 02/03/2020 21:35

@Rubyroost congratulations! I had a feeling he wouldn’t be that big- these scans seem so inaccurate but they did the right thing getting him out because of the poly and your discomfort. He’s a great weight! Hope you’re not feeling too sore and having lots of newborn cuddles x

InDreamland · 03/03/2020 00:39

Congratulations @Rubyroost so pleased baby had been delivered safely. Hope you're making a good recovery!

TwittleBee · 03/03/2020 09:05

@Rubyroost what wonderful news to wake up to! Still a wonderful weight too, although obviously not as big as predicted!

Rubyroost · 03/03/2020 09:13

AAAAwww thanks everyone, he's gorgeous and I can't believe I got myself in such a worried panic at the end. Hindsight is a wonderful thing! I'm still in awe that I have an actual baby!
