Pregnancy

5 weeks Pregnant

Hi all,

I am only 5 weeks pregnant (due 24th of July) with baby number 2! All went well last pregnancy (appart from horrific morning sickness from 6 - 23 weeks)

I have seen a few old threads with Ladies asking this question but would be nice to have some reassurance from other Mums to be on how terrifying the wait to 12 weeks is!

I'm so scared something goes wrong every time I go to the loo I'm checking for blood and any pains in my abdomen i feel I'm convinced something bad is happening 😭 x

Thanks @Littleseed2020
What happened at the doctors in the end?

I just did another pregnancy test Blush It did look clearer/more definite than the ones at the weekend though. On the other hand I’m having really bad pains at the moment so that’s worrying me.

DP keeps trying to talk to me about other things and I just look at him like ‘what? That’s not to do with this pregnancy and my chances of keeping it, how am I expected to be interested in that?’ I know things will go much faster if I can just put it out of my mind for a bit but it’s constantly like ‘if I can just get through today/tomorrow/ get to the weekend’.

How is everyone else doing? How’s the sickness @HairsprayBabe

joantrying I don’t want to tag you in case you’re trying to take your mind off things but if you’re reading just know we’re thinking of you!

Felt sick untill about 2pm fell asleep woke up at about half 3 and now I'm not sure if I feel sick or if I am hungry!

I keep thinking of different foods but the thought of basically all of them is really unappealing.

Second lot of bloods show a hcg rise so that is positive. I have to go to gp tomorrow to discuss the results officially and listen to their plan of action ie early scan coz of the bleeding and go from there. So still cautious here but slightly more positive than yesterday x

I have been the exact same. In the back of my mind constantly I'm just thinking about it. My backache is getting worse which is stressing me out. Just had my appt confirmed with the midwife and she can't get me in until 2 weeks tomorrow. I will be 7 weeks then providing everything goes well. Then we are going to have an early scan at 8 weeks. I don't know why but I have it In my head that 6 weeks will be a huge milestone and I will be so relieved when I hit that mark. I'm sure i will be relieved for all of 2 seconds then back to worrying and waiting for week 7 and then 8 etc 🙄

I did feel a bit sickly this afternoon, I found a packet of tuc biscuits helped..

@Dimples81 that's fab news! So glad you got a positive result and hopefully your scan won't be too long away so you can put your mind at ease.

@Dimples81 that’s great news, everything crossed for you!

I feel the same about 6 weeks for some reason @hermionelodge it does feel like a big milestone somehow. Also even though I’m 5 weeks according to LMP I know I ovulated a bit late in the cycle (day 18) and this Thursday will be 3 weeks post ovulation so I’m a bit stressing about getting too, but it’s all just arbitrary really isn’t it? Until 12 weeks when I might relax a smidge but doubt it somehow.

I’m a bit ‘getting married in just over 3 weeks? Meh, wedding schmedding’ which isn’t good given there’s still lots to do!

@hermionelodge I also feel that I’ll feel slightly safer at 6 weeks and also have no idea why.... ANNNDD also agree I’ll feel safer for all of five seconds.

I’ve just been to the dr’s but not for pregnancy stuff, told nurse I was pregnant and scared etc hoping she would test for pregnancy (she had my wee sample!) but she didn’t. So I came home and did another home pregnancy test, my first test that isn’t a digital but it’s very clearly positive and I am relieved again .... but still nervous.

@Dimples81 it’s a really good sign that your hcg is rising but I understand that wait must feel like forever. Having never been pregnant before I never appreciates quite how alone expecting mothers are in very early pregnancy! Basically you’re on your own until about 10/12 weeks! Shocking really isn’t it?

I’m wishing all of you here so much luck for really healthy pregnancies xx

We have told my parents, DH parents and my best friend, I still feel really alone in it though I guess that's why boards like this are so useful - has anyone told anyone else?

I feel so much better than I did earlier but still not enjoying the thought of food. I think I will be living on cold things for a few weeks sandwiches sound ok and I just had some rice cakes with peanut butter, I had avo on toast at lunchtime but I am worried about eating so little

Are you taking vitamins? Can you handle some pure orange juice or some fruit or something? I may be wrong but from what I’ve read we don’t have to eat more until quite far into the pregnancy, but obviously you need your energy so try to make the few things you can stomach, good energy/vitamin sources.

We haven’t told anyone. It’s so weird !!!!

I’ve got a stomach ache and have done for about an hour ..... not felt anything at all until now so I’m feeling freaked x

I am trying to eat calorie dense stuff peanut butter, avocado, etc.
usually I am a veg fiend and don't bother with vits. Although I think we have some multis as DH is a salad Dodger good idea I'll start having them in the morning with my folic acid.
I wasn't planning on getting pregnant yet so I hadn't been taking it until we found out so I am worrying about that too.

I’ve told one of my sisters - she works at the doctors and knows all about our fertility struggles and treatment and I wanted her to confirm she could see the line on the test too Grin Also because she’s the shoulder I’d be crying on if things went wrong anyway so I don’t mind her knowing early. My other sister I am text chatting with at the moment about other things and it’s SO HARD not to say anything but I’ve made some weird deal with myself that I can’t say anything to anyone else until that arbitrary 6 week mark, plus she’s got some stressful stuff going on and I’m trying to chat about that rather than be all ‘anyway here’s my news’.

DP wants to wait to tell his parents till ‘after the scan’ he’s thinking 12 weeks but in reality I’m not sure we’ll get that far before saying something as we see them every day (they look after our dog). Playing that one by ear.

He has just made me a HUGE dinner of sausages, mash, carrots, parsnips and peas with gravy (veggie sausage for me). I wolfed it down so think the slightly sick feeling I have now is due to volume of food and speed consumed rather than actual symptoms!

I will have to tell my two other closest girl friends mid December as we are off on a night out and my non drinking will be way too obvious in a group that small, only 4 of us

One has just been diagnosed with pcos after a year of trying so I think I will have to go round and tell her in advance - I'm not really sure what to do to be honest

Scan tomorrow at EPAU but have been warned not to get upset if they don’t see anything as they think it will be too early . All the apps put me at 6weeks today but the doctors are saying it will be 6 weeks tomorrow x

Good luck @Dimples81 if you don't mind me asking when are you counting from? I'm desperate for a scan. I'm 6 weeks on friday if I count it from my last periods (18th of Oct) but I was ovulating on the 31st so think it will be from then so waiting till the 13th for my early scan. Fingers crossed for you and if it is too early I'm sure they'll bring you back next week x

Thanks ladies. First day of last period, wasn’t tracking ovulation as wanted to not get to stressed about it all like I did a few years ago when trying. Was giving it until this month and had bought an Ava in prep .

Got my results back from the Drs official preggo now!

Got a booking in appt on the 18th of December that seems so incredibly far away I think I will have to go see the GP sooner though as my nausea and sickness is still awful literally had plain rice crackers first thing and brought them straight back up
I can drink water and keep it down but only in tiny sips, will ask if I can have avoline as it is OTC and safe and I have heard people swear by it on here
