5 weeks Pregnant

Hi all,

I am only 5 weeks pregnant (due 24th of July) with baby number 2! All went well last pregnancy (appart from horrific morning sickness from 6 - 23 weeks)

I have seen a few old threads with Ladies asking this question but would be nice to have some reassurance from other Mums to be on how terrifying the wait to 12 weeks is!

I'm so scared something goes wrong every time I go to the loo I'm checking for blood and any pains in my abdomen i feel I'm convinced something bad is happening 😭 x

@Joantrying My sister had a big bleed at 7 weeks and 10 weeks, she also felt a large clot each time. Baby was fine. She didn't have any pain or anything, and the bleeding lasted about a day (bright red blood) xx

@Joantrying I’ve got everything crossed for you, what a horrible time you’re having.

I wish I had some advice, I’m at the exact same stage as you, NHS calculator says due 29 July, and to be honest just waiting/expecting the same due to my age don’t think my odds are that good. I’ve never been here before though so not sure what to advise - have you taken the clearblue digital test at all? Maybe you could retest in a week and see if the number of weeks pregnant has gone up? I don’t know how reliable a measure that is though.

Thanks for the messages I really appreciate it. I guess it’s just a waiting game. I took digital test at the weekend that said 1-2 weeks waiting until Saturday to test again with clear blue. I’ve done the odd cheap test in between still showing as pregnant

@Joantrying
Sorry to hear you're going through a rough time. Any chance you can get your gp to refer you for bloods or an earlier scan?
I went to my gp when I was about 6 weeks with my ds and because of my history with MMC and early MC, referred me for a scan straight away.

Flowers for every one going through difficult starts I had a miscarriage many years ago from an unplanned pregnancy so I am still worrying.

Have to go to the drs with a pot of wee tomorrow as they don't trust home tests - not sure how long it will take to get my first appt.

Obviously as was unplanned I hadn't been taking folic acid so I am worried about that too.

Symptoms at the minute are incredibly sore and sensitive nipples and being dog tired. I have felt a bit sicky at points but I'm not sure if it is hormones or because I am worrying!

Good luck with both of your tests tomorrow!! xxx

Does anyone know why they don't just book you in with a midwife instead of sending off wee for a pregnancy tests - every thing on the NHS website says that a false positive is vanishingly rare so why waste time and resources on doing lab urine tests Confused

They could always just get you to poas in the Drs anyway...
Just seems a bit pointless to me I guess

Is anyone else starting to get a bit of nausea/sick feeling? I had it quite bad with my first but I get it in the afternoon and evening. I'm also getting hungrier every day too, learnt my lesson last time, resist the greggs!

I'm jumping on :)!❤️ I'm 5+5 today ... two previous miscarriages at the start of the year . Suffering with severe anxiety and panic attacks during this pregnancy . I'm so worried :( I've had lot stronger symptoms this time which I'm hoping are all positive .. sickness, gone off foods, super tired, restless legs occasionally, wet down below ( sorry) but the ones that are worrying me are cramps and back ache. I'm having to sleep with a hot water bottle. They come and go& aren't constant but just feels like period pains. Read they are normal but with my history they make me think the worse. Anybody else have them?
Thinking of everyone who has said they've had bleeds and fingers crossed for you all xxxxx

Sorry to hear about your MC @louisepx 💕

I am very anxious too! Glad there are places like these where we can come and all you ladies know exactly what I'm talking about when I say I run to the loo just to wipe and check or poking my boobs to see if they're sore Blush

Congrats and wishing you all the best with this pregnancy xx

@HairsprayBabe ...I'm bang on 5 weeks, I still feel great but I know from experience it will probably hit me like a tonne of bricks next week. I'm dreading it, it's actually giving me anxiety. The sickness takes over your life Sad

Currently just trying to enjoy every day where I'm feeling good

Congratulations to everyone on the BFPs! Sorry to hear about those having bleeds and past mc's.

I'm now 5 weeks today and it feels like a new milestone. Just taking each day and week at a time. My midwife won't see me until 8 weeks so that seems ages away!!

@HairsprayBabe that's not good on the sickness although I'm actually wanting more symptoms.. so far it's just cramping, sore boobs and backache which just makes me panic that everything is going to go wrong! Although I'm terrified of being sick so i don't actually really want that 🙄

Just dropped my wee off at the doctor's, the fresh air helped a bit with feeling sick, actually have to do some work now - although I WFH so can take it easy and still be in PJ's etc.

I also have really sore nipples not boobs just nipples like someone has taken a cheese grater to them

I was on the pill so my maths could be totally wrong and I could be a further ahead than I think... I don't know

Hi All. Congratulations everyone! I too found out a couple weeks ago that I am pregnant with my first. Six weeks now. We are so excited, but My partner has gone into full on proctor mode 😂 I know he's worried that something might happen. Neither of us have told our families yet, we have both just suffered losses recently so don't want to tell anyone until we have been for a scan. Would you suggestion getting the early scan to put his mind at ease? The only person I've told is my best friend, we've been friends for nearly 20 years and she did not react well, she asked me if I wanted to ruin my life! So naturally been very upset by this and put off telling other friends now!

Anyone pregnant for the second time - do you feel different this time?
I am five weeks on Thurs and I don't feel as rough a as I did with ds1... yet, anyway!
I've a feeling it is a girl, although we won't find out until our nipt test at 10-11 weeks.
We genuinely aren't bothered whether it is a boy or girl, it is simply a feeling I have.

Can I join the thread too? Got my BFP on Friday and due 29th July. Baby no 2 and definitely feeling more nauseous this time round. Not looking forward to all the Christmas parties!

I just called my GP's for a booking in appointment, she couldn't get me in until I'm 10 weeks... Will this be enough time to get my nuchal scan and combined test sorted?? I've read it's better to do them at the 12 weeks mark. Now wondering if I change GP's so I can maybe get a booking appointment sooner Confused

Hey everyone new I'm so sorry to hear about the bleeding and miscarriages😭🥺

I'm pregnant with baby number 2 I am getting more cramps/ stitch like pains. Feels like my uterus is stretching maybe because it had been stretched before? The pains are freaking me out but they come and go and there is no blood.

My breast are rock hard and agony and feeling more and more nauseous.

I was so ill the first time but not till 8 weeks with sickness so still got a couple more weeks to see if I'm going to be as sick.

I can't wait for my early scan on the 13th just to make sure everything is ok so far! It's honestly such a worrying time! X

I’m sorry to hear about previous losses too. And hope those who have had bleeds are doing ok Flowers

I genuinely can’t think about anything else. I too am going for a wee and a wipe every half hour just to see if there’s any blood. I’m getting a lot of discharge (sorry tmi) so every time I feel that I’m convinced it’s blood.

I also feel the same as hermione in kind of wishing for a bit of nausea/sickness as that would make it real somehow! My boobs are a bit tender and I’m getting back ache and cramps/ stitch like pains but to be honest they scare me because they feel like a period coming. I also need to pee a lot and have been burping like a right minger!

I’ve not contacted the doctors yet. I’m only 5 weeks today based on LMP. Because I know when I ovulated/ conceived I know that will be 3 weeks on Thursday. So I feel like if I can get to then or even the weekend then I can phone the doctors.

I’m tempted to book an early scan around 8 weeks but that will be right before our wedding. On the one hand it would be nice to relax and be hopefully reassured but on the other hand if it’s bad news it will just ruin the day. Not sure what to do for the best.

Hey @aliasgrape congratulations! I feel exactly the same and have done ever since I found out. I feel less pregnant than ever today it’s freaking me out so much!

I have the doctors today - not pregnancy related but I’m wondering if they may do a test. I both want them to and am petrified in case they find it negative.... which is madness because I haven’t bled since I found out last Thursday.

I just want some symptoms now lol.

You’re doing well holding off phoning, I phoned the moment they opened hahah!! X
