5 weeks Pregnant

JackGordonsMummy · 23/11/2019 21:03

Hi all,

I am only 5 weeks pregnant (due 24th of July) with baby number 2! All went well last pregnancy (appart from horrific morning sickness from 6 - 23 weeks)

I have seen a few old threads with Ladies asking this question but would be nice to have some reassurance from other Mums to be on how terrifying the wait to 12 weeks is!

I'm so scared something goes wrong every time I go to the loo I'm checking for blood and any pains in my abdomen i feel I'm convinced something bad is happening 😭 x

No diabetes, but I do need to take iron tablets now. I'm thinking that my iron levels being low might be a factor in me feeling so tired? It'll be interesting to see if that's less noticeable once I've been taking them for a week or so.

Did anyone who's already had a baby use a breast pump at any point? My husband is really keen to help with feeds as soon as possible, sees it as looking after me if it gives me the opportunity to sleep for slightly longer at a time. But I've heard mixed opinions about when it's 'ok' or 'good' to start pumping, and just wondered about people's personal experiences - when did you start using one?

JackGordonsMummy · 06/06/2020 16:08

Do you have instagram? I follow a lot of new Mums who actually started expressing their "liquid gold" at 37 weeks and freeze incase they had a problem feeding after birth. One of the girls I follow exclusively pumps as she was worried her baby wasn't getting enough breast milk. She has done from the start. I don't think there is any problem from expressing or mix feeding from the start. After I had my DS the midwife I had scared me into not expressing or mixfeeding and it ultimately made me give up as I had not slept in over a week. They didn't realise but my DS is tongue tied so he was struggling to feed and was starving the whole time. He was on me 24/7 and I couldn't cope so got DP to go get formula one day and just quit. If I knew about the support groups and the fact it is ok to Express and mix feed and also that he had a tongue tie I would of been able to keep going. If you go on the MAM UK page in instagram they have a lot of new Mums who use their electric pump it looks fab and again all of them did it from the get go. I am gonna try expressing from the start as well as the boon so DP can help if I can't cope again with the no sleep I will just go back to formula I think. I'm on iron tablets too mine is really low and taking forever to come back up fun times! X

It’s crazy looking at this thread now being called ‘5 weeks pregnant’ it’s feels like 2 minutes since I was posting that I was and getting to 12 and then 20 weeks seemed a lifetime away and that I’d never get there!

Was 32 weeks on Thursday. Had a 30 week growth scan and told I'm having a big baby (90th percentile) with a big head! So that’s freaking me out a bit.

Going to read back and catch up with everyone’s updates now x

MahamChoudhury · 06/06/2020 16:14

Seems like someone took the words from my mouth. I am always thinking of the worst. I wake up in the middle of the night to check for any bleeds. I am constantly staring at my urine to note any odd colour or smell! I think I have gone crazy!

Aww @aliasGrape I know it really is flying in. I made this thread as I was desperate to talk about being pregnant and obviously couldn't tell anyone till 12 weeks now we are all preparing for birth argggg..
Aww wow that is a big baby on the 90th centile. Have they gave you options or have you to get another growth scan? My friend has 2 and they were both 10lb odds and she gave birth naturally. My DS was 7lb 4 oz so I'm hoping for another 7lb baby but will wait and see haha x

Hello ladies, glad everyone's doing well.
@WeeScottishWife fingers crossed no gestational diabetes for you! 🤞🏼
@hermionelodge I've started feeling nauseous the last week and gone off food again. It's so annoying considering I get so hungry.
@JackGordonsMummy hoping bubs turns head down for you soon! My ds turned at about 38 weeks in my first pregnancy
@AliasGrape it's true, can't believe time has flown. I was dreading lockdown at the start because I thought it would make everything go so slow, but it's flown!! I have had more scans and appts than the average lady would, almost every week but still, feels very close.

I've been plagued by the notorious constipation recently. So much so, I broke yesterday from the pain. My DH was trying so hard not to make any jokes. I don't think he realises how bad it can actually get.

I've still got my two-weekly growth scans, baby was measuring on 10th percentile last week. I'm just hoping she's healthy, don't mind if she's diddy.

JackGordonsMummy · 06/06/2020 17:30

Aww @pottypotamus I have started with the nausea and loss of appetite again it's horrible isn't it! I was eating like a horse last time. With DS at this stage I was clearing my plate then DP s haha!

Aww the wee tiny bubaaaa I'm keeping everything crossed she is healthy as can be for you! I'm sure she will it's been a time of it for you! Only a few weeks to go! Did you say you were getting induced early? How long have you got now? I've just had a bee in my bonnet and started painting my livingroom wall. Instantly regretting it in covered in splashes and it looks like its gonna need a few coats but you know what nesting is like!
Also I have been really constipated but today had a really bad stomach maybe means she is finally turning and thats my body making room. Who knows! X

OP posts:
pottypotamus · 06/06/2020 18:01

@JackGordonsMummy
I assumed the consultants would want to induce me early but I guess that's only if they think the placenta is failing, which up till now has been ok. But seeing as my other two were small for gestational age, I'm going to tell my midwife at my appt next weds that I would feel very uncomfortable going over due and would at the latest want to be induced on my due date.
Not sure what they'll say about that, it's worth a try though.

Hope the bad tummy for you is sign bubs is turning! Whereabouts do you get kicks and movement the most?
I get a lot of movement very far down in my pelvis and she's prob punching out and her legs are prob tucked up by her face, so get lots of kicks on both sides. No movement near ribs at all.

WeeScottishWife · 06/06/2020 18:17

@JackGordonsMummy that is really helpful, thank you! I will check out those pages.

@AliasGrape we have the same due date, I was also 32 weeks on Thursday!

AliasGrape · 06/06/2020 20:17

@WeeScottishWife ahh hello due date twin!

@JackGordonsMummy I think they want to induce me a little early anyway, I’m trying to resist that though unless absolutely medically necessary. I’ve got at least 2 more growth scans so will see how they go and decide from there.

I’ve had a lot of heartburn, and also the dreaded constipation. Baby was head down at my 30 week scan so hoping s/he decides to stay that way!

Hope you feel better soon - I’ve found dried apricots and, randomly, cauldron falafel help with the constipation.

@pottypotamus ahh your wee tiny little one 💕 Everything crossed she’s super healthy and doing well in there.

I just weed myself a bit when I coughed 🙈 So many delightful aspects to pregnancy.

hermionelodge · 06/06/2020 21:44

@JackGordonsMummy my baby box ended up coming today, very exciting! I've started looking into some positive birth things and following on insta etc. Either way baby has to come out so I'm just trying to think positively. Yeah I'm definitely all for pain relief! Hopefully your girl is on the turn. Mine was head down at my 28 week scan, I'm constantly getting a foot under my rib so think they must still be in the right position.

@pottypotamus I've not gone off food but definitely eating less.. which is maybe not a bad thing as I've gained a fair bit of weight 🙄 aww she sounds like she will just be a dainty wee toot. Hopefully shes doing fine in there and just small.

@AliasGrape my growth scan was showing the same, head and stomach were measuring a week ahead and was showing over the 90th centile! My next scan is on the 16th so hopefully wont be off the chart then.

JackGordonsMummy · 08/06/2020 09:11

@hermionelodge glad your box came it really is so exciting when I got my DS s I coloured his in because I was fed up waiting on him and he arrived at 39+4.
My friend just had her second baby in Jan and she did a home pool birth she did hypnobirthing and said she didn't need any pain relief. I'm sceptical but it's worth looking into. I'm asking for the epidural as soon as I get to hospital since I didn't get it last time I know I'll be ok but would rather just get it. Like they say there is no medal for doing it without pain relief!

I have been nesting like mad the last few days.. I noticed last night my milk is leaking already this didn't happen last time either. My boobs are killing me.

Still doesn't feel like baby has turned head down so uncomfortable hopefully the next 6 weeks fly in. I'm so ready to meet her xx

Hello!

I'm 34 weeks today and did my first perineal massage with peri prep your bits... it was very difficult considering I'm the size of a whale and a very strange feeling. I didn't like it but I did get a couple of stitches last time so trying to prevent that! Has anyone else started?

Also got a 4d scan tomorrow I can't wait! Managed to find a private scanning place that is doing it during COVID19!

How are you all x

hermionelodge · 13/06/2020 08:18

@JackGordonsMummy she looks adorable! Its amazing how clear the 4d pics are. Must make you so much more excited. Did they give you and estimated birth weight if you go full term?? Has she turned down yet?

I bought the peri prep stuff so going to start trying the massage next week when I am 34 weeks... I'm not looking forward to it as I've heard its not very comfortable. But I will give anything a go to try and prevent tearing!

The weeks are definitely getting more difficult with aches and pains. Last night I felt really sick and crampy then had a headache all night. I'm not sure if I've had Braxton hicks, my bump did feel weird but then it was quite sore cramps and everything I read says it doesn't hurt. Have you experienced them?

Myself and my partner have now also moved to separate beds as of last night. It was the best nights sleep I've had in months 🤣 was hoping not to have to do it til a bit further on but needs must! Xx

JackGordonsMummy · 13/06/2020 08:33

Yes she is head down thank god! Yes must of only just turned! I felt her side ways up until yesterday! They said she will be 7lbs odds if I go full term which is the same as my DS he was 7lbs 4oz.

I have been getting braxton hicks since 20 odd weeks. It isn't sore but it is uncomfortable. One night my bump was hard/ tight for hours on end not just few mins and i was convinced i was going into labour but it just stopped as quickly as it started.

I have been on a lot of pain getting cramps feeling sick etc a lot lately too... we just bought a simba mattress but it doesn't help! (hopefully it is more comfortable when I'm not preg.) Separate beds sounds like a great plan haha! The heat is unbearable sharing never mind the aches and pains!

Yes the peri prepping was horrible I felt it burn/ stretch all night after I'd done it but like you say ANYTHING to avoid stitches again!!

Don't worry about the cramps etc... your body is just preparing itself the 3rd trimester is SO UNCOMFORTABLE the only nice one like they say is the 2nd. Not long now till we meet our little ones I actually cannot wait.

I could go in 3 weeks (my Wum went 3 weeks early with her 2nd) or 8 weeks of I go 2 weeks over! I've heard Girls can be late but who knows! Xx

hermionelodge · 13/06/2020 20:03

Oh thays good! Shes just been keeping you in your toes haha. Ah ok that's not too bad at all then. I have another growth scan on tuesday and no idea what to expect. I

Oh that must have been a bit panicky. I always see people saying you will know when its labour, but I've been on baby centre threads and a lot of them say otherwise. Obviously until it progresses and then they know!

Everyone warned about the 3rd trimester and I didn't take it seriously... hits you with a bang! 2nd was definitely a breeze. I know, it's very exciting! I cant wait for the birth announcements to start! I keep thinking 40 weeks and have that in my head but like you say really could be much sooner, or longer! I'm hoping I am actually closer to 40 weeks as I would like the 3 weeks to get everything organised and just relax... might change my tune before then though! Hopefully your little lady doesn't keep you waiting too long Xx

JackGordonsMummy · 13/06/2020 21:04

@hermionelodge yes you definitely know when it progresses but at the start you're never sure. I don't know what it will be like this time around if I'll know better I can hardly remember what it was like but I am dreading it haha! Just can't wait to get her in my arms and get my body back to myself I'm so uncomfortable now and my sciatic nerve is KILLLLING ME.

It will hopefully fly in for us all. Yes I know what you mean about getting those weeks to get organised you should enjoy the long lies too while you can. I still don't get them with my DS he is a morning person but he goes to bed at 7pm so we get the evenings to ourselves. I have bo idea how I got him into a routine and feel like I don't know what to do with a newborn but I've read it all comes back to you.

Hope your scan goes well let me know how you get on xx

Hey,
Me again! GOD I'm having a nightmare of a time I honestly thought my pelvic bone was going to snap in half today had a constant burning pain and my vag felt like it was opening (no contractions) so called Mat Ass at 1 pm and the Midwife just called back Said it sounds like symphysis pubis dysfunction(SPD). I've to call physiotherapy in the morning. She said it won't go away till I deliver but they can give me tips and exercises on how to cope 😴😭😭 a fun 5 odd weeks ahead with a 2.5 year old!

Anyways how are you all x

OP posts:
hermionelodge · 17/06/2020 19:56

Hi @JackGordonsMummy, that sounds awful!! How Is the pain now? Did you get an appt with the the physio? I'm really struggling now so cant imagine how you are feeling running round after your wee one.

I had my scan yesterday and I have went from 90th centile to just over 50th but baby is 5lb1 so a good weight. She wasnt concerned. Head is measuring slightly bigger than average so I'm looking forward to pushing that out haha! She also said baby is quite low which I definitely feel, constant pressure down below and when I'm out for a walk always feel like my bouncer is being bounced on, so scared I'm gonna wee in the street one day Haha. X

JackGordonsMummy · 17/06/2020 20:23

@hermionelodge aww amazing how may weeks are you now? My baby was 5lbs 9oz at 34 weeks.
Aww try not to worry once the heads out the rest just comes out with the next contraction then you will finally get to see and hold your beautiful baby and forget all about it❤ just get an epidural if you can haha! I'm hoping to get one this time! How long you got left to work now? Are you all organised?

Aww God I'm in absolute AGONY been crying with the pain it's so hard I honestly feel like my pelvis is going to split on 2 and my vag is gonna explode with the pressure! That on top of being stuck at home with a 2.5 year old 😭😂 I know it will be worth it I'm gonna ask if I can get induced st 37 weeks (2weeks tomoz) cos I cannot love like this for 5 more weeks 😭

I feel the same with the pressure of the bladder I'm constantly peeing and bursting it's so uncomfortable the Joy's a! Xx

OP posts:
hermionelodge · 17/06/2020 20:40

I'm 34+1 now, crazy to think in as little as 3 weeks the baby could make an appearance! Yeah I keep telling myself that all the pain will just be one step closer to it being over. I've been watching videos of epidurals, the relief it brings just looks amazing. Although I'm always amazed how still the woman manage to sit whilst getting it, I worry I will jump! I finish 2 weeks tomorrrow, I cannot wait! Even though its just sitting on the computer its quite fast paced and can be stressful so I'm just ready to be done. We have pretty much everything now, going to pack my hospital bag over the next week so that's done and then my first week of leave we will get everything washed, cleaned and organised. I'm very excited! How are you getting on with everything?

Aw I really feel for you! It must be so difficult. Yeah that sounds like a good idea, they csnt have you struggling in that much pain. 2 weeks is so close! Thats so exciting if they give you the go ahead! Xx
