Hi all,

I am only 5 weeks pregnant (due 24th of July) with baby number 2! All went well last pregnancy (appart from horrific morning sickness from 6 - 23 weeks)

I have seen a few old threads with Ladies asking this question but would be nice to have some reassurance from other Mums to be on how terrifying the wait to 12 weeks is!

I'm so scared something goes wrong every time I go to the loo I'm checking for blood and any pains in my abdomen i feel I'm convinced something bad is happening 😭 x

Hi everyone, it's been couple of weeks since I last popped on, hope you are all keeping well.

@Mummy2be20 I also thought girl on first look. No reason why as I am rubbish at guessing too! I'm in scotland and they dont tell you the sex at any of your NHS scans. I tried to have a peek at our 20 week but no idea what I was looking at most of the time haha. I did get to hear the heartbeat at my midwife appt today and its 157bpm. Going by old wives tales that would hint towards girl but I'm convinced we are having a boy.

With everything going on I wish we had just gotten a private sex scan as I feel really underprepard now! I want to buy clothes and decorate the room and create a nice environment but dont want to just stick with neutral colours.

Mummy2be20 · 03/04/2020 18:34

@hermionelodge Awh see everyone's saying girl but I still think boy haha. We shall find out next week!!
Do they not tell you even if you ask?! we didn't want to find out but since all of this and my partner not being able to come to appts it's a no brainier really. Being on lockdown we have loads of time so ordered white paint and started painting today as a starter, also got a chest of draws etc as we have got a couple items of clothes but that's about it.
I was wanting to wait and wait but now I am just feeling we may as well make the most of the time!
We heard our little heart beat on Wednesday and ours was also 157bpm!! Snap!! So maybe we are both expecting baby girls 🥰 can you book a private scan still?
We booked one yesterday for next week, I'll be 18weeks when we have it because I was anxious about being there alone just incase!!
Fingers crossed it will all be ok but also if we can find out the gender there which they do say you can as long as that's not the sole reason for you going!! ,

hermionelodge · 03/04/2020 18:45

@Mummy2be20 that's exciting! Everyone thinks boy for me. No, I've heard of a few that will hover around in that area for a while but they dont actually say. When I had mine she didn't even ask if we wanted to find out. Yeah I think its much better knowing now under these circumstances. And like you say, no time like the present now to get organised. Oh that's funny we are the same! I look forward to hearing your update from the scan then Grin I had a look online as we only have 2 clinics and they are both closed for now. My 28 week NHS scan has been postponed as well until 32 weeks too. I understand why but still a bit disappointing.

Mummy2be20 · 03/04/2020 18:51

@hermionelodge oh wow, I didn't realise!
I found one near ish to me but not the same town!
Do you have extra scans booked in through nhs then?
My partner was sad he could not come to my 20week so we are hoping that nothing changes the appt x

JackGordonsMummy · 03/04/2020 19:56

@hermionelodge I'm in Scotland they told me at the Royal but I know other hospitals don't do it. A friend at work was the same as you. So strange some hospitals do it and some don't.

I was 24 weeks yesterday I am MASSSSSSSSIVE lol. I already had the wicker basket on wheels from when my DS was New so just had to order pink bedding for it. I struggled to find it online anywhere ended up paying £90 for it which I think is ridiculous considering bedding for a long size bed in like £30 haha! It came today and I'm so happy with it I put it all on then covered it with a dust sheet as I still have 15 weeks 6 days to go.

I keep ordering stuff online becu there's nothing else to do. Still so strange buying for a girl.

@Mummy2be20 I posted my 14 week scan on here as a new post asking if anyone could read nubs and they guessed correctly. Also there's a page on Facebook you can post the scan pic to that also guessed mine correctly why don't you try that?

How is everyone anyway I'm getting used to this lockdown a little more each day just hoping by the time we are ready to give birth we are allowed a birthing partner 🤞🏼 xx

@Mummy2be20 I have some growth scans with them. Everything has been perfect so far so I'm not stressing out that I can't have the 28 week, would rather that was given to someone who needs it. Just nice to see baby again. Yeah I can totally understand that. Such a shame that he cant get to the 20 week. Fingers crossed everything stays in place for you next week. Xx

@JackGordonsMummy that is so strange. You would think it would be the same across the board. I also didn't get to hear the heartbeat at my 16 week appt but I've read a lot of others have done. I love your bedding! That is so cute! It must be so exciting being able to buy specific things knowing the sex. Did you find out witn your little boy? Aww I dont think your bump is massive at all. Looks nice and neat and you have stayed petite with it too... I on the other hand have been eating far too much in this lockdown! I cant stop eating! I feel il becoming very whale like!

I'm getting used to the lockdown and enjoying the saving money aspect but so feel a bit stir crazy. I am still working full time from home, my partner has been furloughed so hes home all the time which he hates as he likes to be busy and doing things, and we have a young dog who had just gotten used to separation and now she is needier than ever! Very much missing office chat and seeing people! I really hope things are almost back to normal by July and the restrictions are a lot lighter. I couldn't imagine birthing without my partner. Xx

Mummy2be20 · 03/04/2020 21:23

@JackGordonsMummy ahh I may have to try that! Awh so cute that you get to buy pink stuff this time round 💕 I'll have to have a look and will let you know how I go!
Your bump is so neat! I don't think same will be said about me at that stage 😂

@hermionelodge oh that's so good!! Well I am a little anxious about the 20 week scan but my 12 week was perfect and my 16 week midwife appt was fab and heart beat strong so hopefully that's all good signs 🤞🏼

I have also not been able to stop eating 😂 that's all I do! It's awful, I also have a major thing for chocolate spread and Nutella which is not ideal 🤦🏽‍♀️
Our dog is 3 and with us both at home she has become soooo needy and I'm dreading when we are able to go out or back to work how she will cope!! She's loving the one 'long' walk a day though. deffo making the most of that!!

JackGordonsMummy · 03/04/2020 21:35

@hermionelodge Yeah it is so strange I head the heartbeat at midwife apps but not the scan.

Aww thank you I honestly feel so huge this time around i dont think I was this big till near the end with my DS!

Yes i found out with both I have no patience I'd of loved a surprise but I couldn't wait 9 months!

Aww @mummy2be20 When is your 20 week scan? I have my midwife app on Monday..

So disappointed it's not looking likely I'll be getting a 4d scan this time with lockdown. It was an amazing experience with my DS actually getting a glimpse at what he looked like but when they are born it's just magical seeing the little baby you have been growing for 9 months.

All I can think about now is giving birth although I've already done it I'm more nervous this time around! Xx

Mummy2be20 · 03/04/2020 21:39

@JackGordonsMummy we have a private scan booked next weekend, I shall be 18 weeks. It's so we can go together for moral support 🙈 and so we can hopefully find out the sex!! No one has got back to me about the nub.. I'm so impatient hahah. I spent ages trying to work it out last night but I am still none the wiser haha
20week scan is the last week in April!!

hermionelodge · 04/04/2020 07:37

@Mummy2be20 I was nervous for the 20 week as well but I think it's normal to be. I just sat in silence through it as I just found it quite overwhelming. I had no idea what I was looking at even after being told what we were focussing on 🤣

I have searched a couple of relaxation videos on YouTube so going to try and concentrate on them a couple of times a week to help calm my mind and hopefully I will take these techniques into labour... I'm just trying not to worry too much yet. We still have time. I'm.really hoping restrictions are lifted by mid june. If they arent then I can tell I'm going to go into full panic mode.

I'm starting to find sleeping really uncomfortable now. My bump isn't even that big but it seems mo matter which way I lie it hurts like tbetrs too much pressure inside either way. I do have a big U pregnancy pillow but its not helping. Not ideal as its only going to get worse 🤦‍♀️🙈 xx

Mummy2be20 · 04/04/2020 20:32

@hermionelodge I am the same! Can't wait for my early scan (18wks) to be here so I don't have to be as anxious!!
Found someone in Instagram who does nub readings.. they have said girl! I wonder how reliable that is!!x
I am getting uncomfy already when rolling over and I toss and turn and then need to see constantly before falling asleep!

I can't remember how far along you said you were?

hermionelodge · 05/04/2020 07:46

It's such a good feeling. Are you feeling any movement yet? I'm starting to feel a lot more but have an anterior placenta so it's all low down and sometimes I have to really pay attention but I find that so calming as well. Oh that's exciting, did you have to pay?

Guess we are being prepared for the lack of sleep already haha. I will be 24 weeks on Tuesday. Another milestone 😊 I'm taking the pregnancy little milestone at a time as I was so worried in the beginning due to having some bleeds so this feels like a big one. Xx

Mummy2be20 · 05/04/2020 08:41

@hermionelodge I've been feeling flutters for a couple of weeks now! I thought it was gas at first haha. A lot more mover meant now, like a twitching in my tummy. At my 12 week scan they said my placenta was low down so I would feel a lot but now I'm worrying as it needs to have moved!!
No I didn't pay, I just searched on insta 'nubtheoryexperts' they replied quite fast and were set on girl, we shall see in a week if they were right 😀
I was really anxious at first due to my miscarriage a year before, my partner doesn't let me be negative or worried! He's far too positive haha bless him! I am at the stage now where I don't feel overly pregnant, just achey now and then and still weeing a lot but I also drink sooo much recently!!

JackGordonsMummy · 17/04/2020 21:46

How is everyone getting on. I'm 26 weeks now. Got lots of movement going on but very sad I'm not getting to enjoy my pregnancy with my friends and fam. I've been in self isolation with dp and DS for 6 weeks obviously I can facetime but it's not the same. Such a strange time. It isn't looking likely we will be able to get a 4d scan or have a baby shower this time round I know it's not important I'm the grand scheme of things but it's a little sad xxx

pottypotamus · 17/04/2020 22:32

Hi @JackGordonsMummy
I know exactly how you're feeling. Feeling sad too. I bought some maternity trousers after my 12 week scan that I was looking forward to wearing out but no need for them now as I'm living in leggings at home.
It gets a bit much stuck inside with your family 24/7. I mean I love my DH and kids to bits but I'm missing having some outside me time. I'm making the most of the sunshine on our deck in the afternoons, it's lovely to sit out there for a little bit and soak in the sun and get some peace and quiet, even for 20 mins.
I'm 26 wks too, I have a growth scan next Thursday. Looking forward to seeing bubs again.
How is everyone else doing? xxx

hermionelodge · 18/04/2020 09:27

I feel the exact same as you both. I know what's going on is a lot bigger than my pregnancy but I can't help feel a bit down sometimes and a bit robbed of my first experience. I'm just really hoping restrictions are lifted by the time we are due! Yesterday I put on a nice maternity dress and done my hair and make up.. it did make me feel a bit better, but I wont be doing that every day 🤣 I'm meant to have a growth scan on the 5th of may but my midwife told me it will probably be cancelled until 32 weeks. I haven't heard anything yet but I will probably get my letter the week before so I'm not getting my Hope's up. My bump feels huge and I'm getting lots of round ligament pain, mostly on the right side! Still have days also where I feel next to nothing thanks to my placenta hopping as the baby gets bigger I will feel a lot more. Xxx

Hey I’ve just seen this thread and wanted to say hello 😊 I’m due at the end of July too but didn’t know back in November when you all first posted 😊 wow seems like ages ago... how are you finding the end of the second trimester?

hermionelodge · 18/04/2020 19:14

Hi @Birdy1991, it does feel like so long ago now! I think I posted about an hour after I first found out, felt so surreal! I've actually been getting on ok, a few aches and pains - mostly round ligament and Lower back - but overall I'm feeling good. I do have an anterior placenta so really struggle to feel things at times which makes me a bit panicky but feel huge relief when I do feel that movements. How are you getting on?

Birdy1991 · 18/04/2020 19:29

@hermoinelodge - I have exactly the same pain, I really struggle with back pain in the evenings and mostly lie on my side on the sofa with my feet up on my partner.

I have an anterior placenta too and only felt my first movements a week ago!! I ended up in the triage crying this morning and they had to find the heartbeat because I was a a wreck! I could have actually written your message, I’m such a similar situation!
I’m grateful things are mostly going well but I do feel a bit sad about having an anterior placenta as I’d love to feel kicks more often. When did you first feel your movements? Do you feel them every day? And do you know what you’re having? (Sorry I’m asking lots of questions)!

hermionelodge · 18/04/2020 20:24

@Birdy1991 oh yes, feet up is definitely the way forward. I've noticed my ankles are slightly swollen already as well.

Oh it's such a worry isn't it! So glad everything is ok though. You are right to get checked for peace of mind. Theres so much emphasis on monitoring movements etc and it's so difficult! Yeah I totally get what you mean, it feels like its another part of of pregnancy that is being taken away. Is this your first baby? I think I first felt something around week 22, but it's more just like a twitch and it's very low down so feels like it's kicking my bladder and cervix. I have had the odd strong punch/kick where I've actually seen my belly move but that's only been a handful of times and just happens the once. I do definitely feel movement every day but I can't work out a pattern to it and some days i can go all morning with nothing. Its just light taps and bubble feelings, I guess what people would normally feel at the early stages if the placenta is in the right place. My partner hasn't been able to feel anything either which is a shame, hes desperate to feel a kick. I've downloaded the kick count app and I'm going to try and log every time I feel something. No, we haven't found out. We were debating it but out maternity unit doesn't say and now all the private clinics round us are closed so will just keep it a surprise now. Do you know? Oh dont worry at all, it's so nice to have the reassurance that others are going through the same thing

JackGordonsMummy · 11/05/2020 20:56

Hi everyone how are we all getting on? I'm 30 weeks on Thursday so scary to think its been 25 weeks since I started this thread! Due to lockdown I've finished the nursery already still waiting on a few bits being delivered. Got to get new bottles and a sterilizer and clothes then I think I'm done. I bet I go over I'm just so excited to meet my baby girl. Xx

hermionelodge · 11/05/2020 21:53

Hi @JackGordonsMummy, how are you feeling? Time is going surprisingly quick considering the situation! I remember how slowly the first 12 weeks, its just flown since then! That's exciting you are almost done! We still have a few bits to get but getting there. Did you go over with your first? It's all becoming a bit real now being in the last trimester and thinking about birth! I have 8 weeks left to work and the countdown is well and truly on! Xx
