Don't hold back - would love to know what connotations, both good and bad the name gives people.

Thanks!

berolina · 19/08/2007 15:20

(not needing accomm but we could meet?)

PellMell · 19/08/2007 15:23

Yes that would be fantastic.
I had all posts deleted and am only just gradually re-introducing myself to anyone who knows me.

berolina · 19/08/2007 15:26

I'll email

ChippyMinton · 19/08/2007 15:34

Fabulous name...not that i'm biased or anything...smiles fondly at blonde DS (who hated his floppy fringe and made me cut it all off - sob) AKA Bastian but NEVER Seb [puke]

MuffinMclay · 19/08/2007 19:14

I really like it (but doesn't sound right with my surname so we rejected it).

I've known a few Sebastians - always known as Seb - and they've all been lovely!

harpsichordcarrier · 19/08/2007 19:16

yep, I like it.
it makes me think of Brideshead, but this is not a bad thing

pointydog · 19/08/2007 20:14

"it makes me think of Brideshead, but this is not a bad thing"

challenging talk from harpsi

Not really good though, was it?

kevinsmother · 19/08/2007 20:24

Posh and camp as panties

PestoMonster · 19/08/2007 20:26

Wasn't he the butler in Heidi?

Also, star of Belle & Sebastien - very old series from when I was small.

Like it though!

mum2sam · 19/08/2007 20:27

pointydog · 19/08/2007 20:41

kevin smother, there is that

laughinglil · 20/08/2007 23:46

reminds me of the crab in the little mermaid.. but I know a 'Seb' and he is lovely!
If you are going to call him 'Seb' why register him as 'Sebastian'.. does make me think 'Posh' when I think of it!

Nightynight · 21/08/2007 00:27

dont like it.

fortyplus · 21/08/2007 00:28

Sebastian makes me think of a friend's brother who always used to take his trousers off then stand up and play with his willy in the back seat of the car!

prufrock · 21/08/2007 04:22

Love it - which I why I used it for ds. But beware wierd shortenings - dd was 2 when he was born, and would pat my huge belly and say "hello Babin" (her attempt at Sebastian). Babin has stuck, and everyone now calls him that, though dd, dh and I have more recently taken to caling him "Babs". I would never have dreamt of having a child called baba, butit's come about organically and just works

eidsvold · 21/08/2007 04:55

love it

Mhamai · 21/08/2007 05:08

I shouldn't be up but am, from an Irish persons perspective Sebastian sounds a very British name. haven't got the energy to gogle it for it'd origon.bI would think if an Irish boy was called Sebastion it would sound a tad prententious but for an English boy sounds very honourable, again have to stress not sure of origon perhaps liking it to being particularly British because of Seb Coe. Fine upstanding honourable name. A bit like a lot of English people liking Irish names like Aoife or Niamh perhaps?

Ps
I have despite being Irish a very common name that was very popular in the 60's not to far removed from the Tracey's and Sharon's except it's origon is in fact Greek! Basically, I like it but it is in the end up to you.

Mhamai · 21/08/2007 05:09

Google even, on that note am quite goggle eyed so off to my leaba

GooseyLoosey · 21/08/2007 05:22

Makes me think of Evelyn Waugh, Brideshead and decaying aristocracy I'm afraid.

Tortington · 21/08/2007 06:54

only if you are firmly middle class. not aspiring middle class.

it is very poncey.

Nightynight · 21/08/2007 07:07

in germany it isnt poncey, one of my colleagues is called Sebastian.
