Just what it says really - anyone else near the end and would like some company? I'm driving myself crazy over here by myself!

How’s it going @greeneyedlulu, hope the induction has finally got going and you’re having lovely cuddles!!

greeneyedlulu · 02/11/2019 12:14

Afternoon ladies! Im finally in a delivery suite... got to 2cm dilated last night, discovered after only be completely violated by a midwife, it hurt that much I cried and I'm never normally that wimpy!!
So now playing the waiting game again as they are short staffed today and they think that as soon as they break my waters, baby will come quickly so I need my own dedicated midwife.

Aurora79 · 02/11/2019 12:57

@greeneyedlulu yay that’s great news (apart from the horrible examination- hope you’re ok!). Fingers crossed you’ll have your baby with you very soon!!

greeneyedlulu · 02/11/2019 14:31

Thanks aurora x

jpclarke · 02/11/2019 17:34

Delighted to read more babies will hopefully be here over the weekend. Feeling a bit better now after my shower but have to stay on top of the painkillers.

imiss · 02/11/2019 18:47

@greeneyedlulu good luck!

Nothing happening here apart from some short sharp pains near my cervix. This isn't anything right? It's only happening when the baby is wriggling so I think it's just his awkward position rather than the start of anything. 3 days overdue now Hmm

Aurora79 · 02/11/2019 20:19

@imiss i feel your pain. Nothing happening here either and 40+6 so going to hit a week overdue tomorrow Sad.

greeneyedlulu · 03/11/2019 05:27

Thanks imiss. I'm currently in hospital, hooked up to a hormone drip to start contractions and an epidural which took forever to put in. I was told on Friday night I could have my waters broken at 11.30 but they didn't do it then. So Saturday morning I was moved to my own room and the ward had 3 midwives out sick and around 8 emergencies so had a very long wait, completely understandable. I was then told at 9pm they were going to break my waters. I had 3 midwives attempt it and the 3rd did and decided to give me an extra sweep to "help things along".... I could have killed her as she was clearly trying to feel for my tonsils!!! I'm so miserable and uncomfortable and there's a trainee here too who I have no confidence in at all so I've told the main midwife she can observe only.
I can honestly say I'm never ever doing this again.... ever!!!

amehh · 03/11/2019 06:40

I keep checking in - sorry to hear it hasn't gone how you'd hoped @greeneyedlulu but hopefully you'll have your wonderful baby today :) sending you good vibes! And you can refuse or delay checks if you want, I found anyone touching me (inside or out) especially during contractions to be intolerable for both my labours.

If you are still waiting, I've got my fingers crossed for you all! And hope all those who have arrived are doing well.

@Pinkflipflop85 are you out of hospital yet?

OP posts:
imiss · 03/11/2019 08:30

@greeneyedlulu what you're going through sounds very similar to my first. 3 pessaries, then the drip with an epidural.. I was in hospital for a 5 days in and out of labour but it never really established. My body just wasn't cooperating. Hoping you now have your baby? Some women seem to have quick labours once the drip is in and waters gone so fingers crossed that's you, and you're through it now. At least the epidural is in, so if not get some sleep if possible. Baby will be here soon by whatever means, you're definitely on the home stretch. Lots of good luck to you and wishes that it's speedy and painless.

Nothing again this morning, not even a twinge. Sleeping horribly and this morning I have 'woken up' unable to swallow and it feels like I've either got a throat infection or tonsillitis. 4 days overdue. Little girl has vomiting virus. Not ashamed to say I have cried and had a little pity party. Really thought this time round I would be with my baby having cuddles and that G&T by now, but it feels like I'm heading down the same path as last time.

Going to try to get some reflexology or acupuncture today, and I have a pineapple sat in the kitchen for breakfast. Curry last night. Raspberry leaf tea in my hand and on a birthing ball. Dh doesn't know it yet but we will be having sex and I'll be having a walk if it stops raining. Sweep tomorrow. Anyone got any other home remedies to try I'm all ears and open to pretty much anything!

Aurora79 · 03/11/2019 14:29

@imiss hope you’re feeling better and that things get moving soon for you, although hopefully after your little one recovers from the vomiting virus! You’ll definitely have earnt that g&t when you get it!

And @greeneyedlulu fingers crossed things get going now and today is the day! Hope you’re holding up ok!

I’ve been having regular contractions here since this morning, getting more regular so hopefully heading into the hospital in the next few hours although hoping to hang out here as long as we can! A week overdue now though so Fingers crossed today is the day we finally meet our baby!

MrBobLobLaw · 03/11/2019 22:24

Any update @Aurora79 ? Fx you are snuggling your new babe as I type!!

Tomorrow is my due date! Actually feels very surreal to have got here, my poor overlooked second baby. I so wish I'd had the time to really treasure this pregnancy (my last!!) but this house move has just overshadowed it all. Spent the day packing and moving boxes and god knows what else in to storage, taking it as easy as I can. DS1 has been shuttled between family who have been amazing, helping us out. So sore tonight though so in bed now and going to take it easy this week now DPs not working until we either complete on the house and move (Friday) or baby arrives (who knows when!).

Aurora79 · 03/11/2019 23:37

@MrBobLobLaw still at home and still in labour. Been having contractions every 5 mins since 7 this morning, although they’ve definitely got a lot stronger. Went into hospital earlier but got sent to labour at home some more so staying at home as long as we can before we go back. Hopefully we’ll have a bubba by morning but things are moving pretty slowly.

greeneyedlulu · 04/11/2019 09:12

She's here!!! Born yesterday, I'm so happy! She's healthy so will be going home this morning hopefully.
Thank you for all your kind words.
Good luck to the rest of you xxx

That's great @greeneyedlulu congratulations! So glad to hear all was good in the end. Hope all is well with you @Aurora79 too!

greeneyedlulu · 04/11/2019 12:22

Thanks @shewoman and @aurora79, trust me you're better off at home with your own creature comforts and everything at hand! I've been going stir crazy in hospital! I want a cuppa out of a proper mug and some good home cooking now!! Good luck x

MrBobLobLaw · 04/11/2019 13:43

How're you doing today @Aurora79?

Due date today but no signs of labour. Kind of glad as I think I want to hold on until we complete and move on Friday. Sooo happy that DP is around to run after DS1, though it's a bit weird not having anything in our flat Blush

imiss · 04/11/2019 18:31

Congratulations to the new babies! Hope you're recovering well and enjoying cuddles.

I went for my second sweep today and completely different from last time. Horribly painful and uncomfortable, midwife said I was 1cm although second child so doesn't mean anything, and cervix is firm, she could just feel DS's head. Last midwife/sweep said 1cm and cervix soft although after feeling how rough this woman was earlier I very much doubt the first midwife was even touching my cervix. Literally getting pushed up the bed by the force of her hand to reach my cervix whereas the other woman didn't even apply much pressure.

Cried when they suggested booking induction. She went through my notes on my last birth and suggested I go for an elective section at 40+12 as it was pretty bad last time, my body never caught on and I had every intervention going. Never had a contraction which wasn't the result of an artificial hormone. Seeing a consultant at the hospital Wednesday to discuss/book.

I don't know what to do Sad

Zarara · 06/11/2019 03:16

How’s everyone doing? It’s my due date today so really hoping it all starts happening soon. I just can’t get to sleep due to heartburn! I have a midwife appointment on Thursday so hoping she’ll offer me a sweep

MrBobLobLaw · 06/11/2019 07:25

Any movement from the sweep @imiss? I refused them with DS1 as I'd heard they were painful and pretty pointless unless your cervix was already soft or something. Make sure you ask lots of questions today with the consultant!

Happy due date @Zarara! Sorry about the heartburn, it's awful isn't it. I have Rennies stashed under my pillow for when I wake up with it! They work straight away.

I'm 2 days overdue now.. thought something was kicking off last night as lots of back ache, sore fanjo, but of tightening, but nothing! DS1 went 9 days overdue before I went in to spontaneous labour so could be in for another long wait! At least it would give me time to unpack after we move house on Friday!

Aurora79 · 06/11/2019 11:59

Sorry for the lack of update, beautiful baby girl born Monday night 8 days overdue. Absolutely smitten already! Hope there are some other babies now on their way!

Shewoman · 06/11/2019 18:50

That's wonderful @Aurora79 congratulations Smile

Scottish1 · 07/11/2019 06:48

Hello ladies! Congratulations to all the mamas that have given birth recently! 🎉 I’m 40+8 here and just woken up feeling disappointed thatI I still haven’t gone in to labour 😩 My parents are here until Tuesday so feeling the pressure to give birth by then. Have a hospital appointment on Saturday when I will be 40+10 and I imagine they will give me a sweep... Really wanted as natural a birth as possible but now I’m thinking that I just want to be induced as so tired of waiting! This baby doesn’t even seem real anymore and it all feels like some crazy dream! Thanks for reading-nice to know there are others waiting out there too. ❤️

MrBobLobLaw · 07/11/2019 08:02

Congrats @Aurora79! Enjoy the snuggles!

Keep the faith @Scottish1!! I went in to spontaneous labour at 40+9 with DS1 and managed to avoid inductions/sweeps and still had an intervention free birth, just like i had hoped for. I didn't have any signs beforehand either, just.. started contractions! But seriously, I get it ha the waiting is the worst!! Just remember: you can say no to the sweeps, from everything I've read and heard, unless you're already kinda on your way to going in to labour, they're just sore and a waste of time. I always said hat, unless there was foetal distress, to just leave me alone!

Anyway here I am at 40+3, hoping baby holds on for a few days now so that we can move house tomorrow and complete on our purchase without DP having to take phone calls whilst I'm in labour Blush no signs here either. My next appt is on Monday so we'll see if I make it that far!

How's everyone else doing?
