Hello Mums

I am 29 weeks pregnant with our second baby, a little boy. We are french but we need to find a name that fits in english speaking countries. We thought about Dorian...

My sister says it's a bit negative for a boy, as Oscar Wilde's character is not really great.

What do you think ? in general and about this comment in particular ?

thanks !!!!

Sorry if suggested before (I have not read whole thread) but what about Lucian. I love that name. Would it work in France?

Yes I'm afraid I thought of Dorian Gray at once.

Not sure how popular it is in France but I've never heard of it in UK. Mind you that might not bother you.

I like Raphael tho it's a bit whacky. I also like Hector but most people don't agree with me. Simon sounds like he should be 40 (sorry).

Are you actually in UK or France as I would pick a name that goes best where you are IYSWIM.

Dorian OK IMo, but ROFL at Boco's Going for Gold randomness.

3Ddonut · 17/08/2007 21:45

Wilkie posted on your other thread... smart boy there!

bookwormtailmum · 17/08/2007 21:47

Most Simons I know are right chatterboxes . It's a nice name though.

Hector is a nice old English name. Are you so sure that Dorian would be laughed at in England? I've heard more unsual names than that .

My hubby had Jean-Luc on his wish list, in honour of Captain Picard but i told him not the best choice for the west coast of Scotland... playground fodder ... Of the suggestions I like Alex, Raphael, Mattis, Daniel and Louis. Quite like Dorian, the guy in Extraordinary League of Gentlemen was quite a sexy bad guy...

notasheep · 17/08/2007 22:19

My first boyfriend was Dorian-havent met anyone else with the same name.

I love the name but then think i am being a little bias

cousinsandra · 17/08/2007 22:23
