Congratulations @SC0508 and @HJWT on the safe delivery of your babies.
@HJWT - hope you recover quickly and are able to go home soon. Sounds like you’ve really been through it Flowers
Good luck to everyone still waiting- we’ve had a busy day today. We were discharged by the midwives at the 10 day check and then went to officially register Ada. I now feel very lucky to be writing this with her snuggled on my chest (whilst DH hoovers and puts the shopping away!)

Figuringitout · 14/10/2019 14:30

@Em39ma - glad to hear that you are also home. Flowers

kmammamalto · 14/10/2019 14:34

@HJWT my goodness hope you're okay. Congratulations on your little boy!
I went for a sweep today, on my due date, but baby's head was too high up to reach. I was up in the night with contractions so feeling very deflated now and quite upset for some reason! I'm finding it harder than waiting for number 1!

Frizzy1986 · 14/10/2019 15:55

@Em39ma sleep is miraculous medicine! Glad you are now home. Have they advised ways to help increase your supply? Keep up with the breastfeeding if that's the route you want to go as it is possible.

Orson had a visit from the health visitor today and he is now 9lb 5 so at 13 days old he is 3oz above birth weight which is good.
I'm still struggling with anxiety and every little niggle I feel (including the little aches when my boobs fill with milk when he cries) makes me panic that it's a sign of a clot and that I'm going to die and leave my babies. I don't think I'm getting any chest pains, but then I'm not sure if I'm missing them, or thinking it's my boobs instead etc.
I know it's silly as the hospital would have scanned me, or at least given me, the anti clot injection if they were at all worried. Wouldn't they?
I don't think there is a way past it other than time, as they won't scan me unless things change so its not like I can aks for the scan to put my mind at rest. I wish I could and that they could just give me a scan time, I show up, get it done and leave.

Sw2102 · 14/10/2019 17:50

Congratulations @HJWT and @SC0508. Hope you are doing ok now @HJWT.

Great news about Orson and his weight @frizzy1986, hope you can speak to someone about how you are feeling to be sure about your chest?

@kmammamalto I am a day over and irationally annoyed Grin it is harder waiting this time around too I've decided. Im jealous you got offered a sweep already? I have midwife tomorrow but I dont think they will give me a sweep until next week!

I'm here now hoping that baby stays put for awhile as I sprained my foot and can't walk on it right now. Talk about bad luck! Had such a good pregnancy and literally three days before the due date this happens ahhh. Feeling pretty miserable but trying to stay positive. DP is staying home from work tomorrow to help me which is really sweet. My plan is just to stay holed up at home icing and resting and praying I can walk on it before labour starts!

YorkshireIndie · 14/10/2019 19:59

Congratulations @HJWT!

Oh no @secretlyhermione! Hope your sprain gets better soon

@Frizzy1986 sounds like baby is moving in the right direction. Hope you feel better soon

Spent the day briskly walking only to have BH. Got the midwife tomorrow and thankfully DH is coming too

Had a really odd message from MIL about having my family around (she has gone on holiday which is obviously her choice and DH and I are fine with that as only he and I need to be on baby watch)

userabcname · 14/10/2019 20:41

My gorgeous boy arrived at midday today - 8lbs 7oz of pure cuteness! Recovery ok so far.

Positivity86 · 14/10/2019 20:42

@HJWT many congratulations! Hope you are recovering ok, sounds like you've been through it.

@secretlyhermione oh no! Hope it heals soon. Sprains can be so painful. Not what you need right now!

@Frizzy1986 hope you start feeling a bit better. Great news about baby's weight going up

Positivity86 · 14/10/2019 20:44

@KatnissK how lovely, congratulations!!

cattaxi · 14/10/2019 20:44

Just popping in quickly to say ds arrived safely this afternoon. Planned section was a lovely experience and I’m recovering well. He’s a good size at 8.9lbs and feeding like a pro.
Hope everyone else is ok - will catch up properly tomorrow 🙂

Maryrobinson81 · 14/10/2019 20:47

Congratulations @KatnissK and @cattaxi
Enjoy all the lovely newborn cuddles.

YorkshireIndie · 14/10/2019 20:47

Congratulations @cattaxi and @KatnissK!!

Frizzy1986 · 14/10/2019 20:53

Fabulous news @cattaxi and @KatnissK. Massive congratulations!

secretlyhermione · 14/10/2019 21:05

Congratulations @cattaxi and @KatnissK! Enjoy your newborn snuggles!! Have the number of boys born outnumbered the girls now?

Positivity86 · 14/10/2019 21:15

@cattaxi many congratulations!!

Em39ma · 14/10/2019 21:17

Congratulations @cattaxi and @KatnissK.
Babies are definitely all appearing now.
The planned sections are very relaxing in the way they put you at ease and everything is done and explained to you.
I really liked the way they all introduce themselves to us and ask us to do the same to the whole room.

HJWT · 14/10/2019 21:37

So after my update yesterday I went up to delivery and had my waters broken around 11pm, I was getting good contractions but not enough to deliver so ended up on the hormone drip at 3AM!! I really wanted to be in the moment when he was born so had gas & air only which was VERY intense but I had 2 amazing midwives coaching me through cannot thank them enough.

So an amazing labour I will never forget and a VERY painful delivery with NO tears or grazes! Fab right? Delivered the placenta and it was like someone had opened the river thames, in the end I had around 20 people in the room the bleeding stopped and then started again so I ended up in theatre had to sign to say they could preform a hysterectomy if need be! DH and my mum thought they would never see me again and neither did I! But thankfully the AMAZING staff saved my life and finally managed to stop the bleeding once I was put out!

I lost 3.5 L from what they could measure but feel much better tonight and just so thankful to be here with little man! Still on delivery as I have a vaginal pack and balloon in my uterus 🤷🏻‍♀️

On the upside DD adores her brother! 💙💝🥰

Congratulations @cattaxi & @KatnissK Our 3 boys share the same birthday 😁 🎂

Wow @HJWT what an eventful delivery. Glad you are OK and are being looked after. Hopefully you won't have to stay in too long!

So weird question, when Orson feeds on my left boob, milk dribbles out his nose (his right nostril so the bottom one based on how he's feeding) It doesn't happen when he feeds on the right side.
It makes a huge damp patch though as although his mouth seal is good, obviously this "nose milk" has to dribble somewhere.
I don't remember this with dd, is it normal or does it mean he has a hole somewhere in his palette or something which the milk goes through?!

secretlyhermione · 15/10/2019 07:16

Good morning ladies!
@HJWT my gosh you've really been through it! Doctors and midwives are really angels in these situations, very good to hear you're doing ok. A similar thing happened to a friend of mine with the birth of her first so I can understand how terrifying it must have been. Hopefully now you are able to relax and enjoy your newborn.
My sprain is much better today thankfully. The ice pack and cream has helped a lot and I can now hobble on it (yesterday I couldn't even walk on it so I'm counting this as progress!) No sign whatsoever of baby wanting to make his/her way in which I'm not thankful of as would like to heal before labour starts!
I wanted to ask the experienced mums what they thought about this. We're going to visit the two sets of grandparents for Christmas and then new year's and probably will take the car. The first drive is around 6 hours and the second around 8 which I'm aware is quite long. Baby will be around two months then and we'll make sure to have a lot of stops for feeding, nappy changes etc. Does this sound reasonable? It wasn't really my preferred choice to do all this by car but it will be easier with transporting everything. Eager to get any of your thoughts, as a first time mum am quite clueless about these things!

Cantthinkofanameeee · 15/10/2019 07:51

Congratulations @cattaxi @KatnissK*...*@HJWT you poor thing...How scary...At least you & baby are all ok now!!...You done it! Smile

Maryrobinson81 · 15/10/2019 09:54

@secretlyhermione I travelled 6 hours with my 3rd when he was 6 days old ( it was Christmas time) it was fine, he slept nearly the whole time. We stopped every 2 hours so I could feed him and stretch him out as they can’t stay in car seat longer than about 2 hours. My girls were both still toddlers so needed also a little run around each stop.
You are right you do need a car for all the stuff to take with you! I think you will be absolutely fine. You could sit next to the baby to comfort them if you needed to, pop dummy back in if they have one etc.
Used to do the Manchester to Cornwall trip all the time with all the children at various ages from newborn to older and the older they get the harder it is to entertain them! We don’t have to do it anymore as we now live in cornwall but just A half hour trip can be a nightmare now 🙈
Glad to hear your sprain is better too!

I’m going to have a sweep today at my midwife appointment if it’s possible, I’m 40+1. Feel a bit nervous, not sure why, I’ve had them before and know what to expect!

Figuringitout · 15/10/2019 10:48

Congratulations @cattaxi and @KatnissK. @HJWT Flowers - make sure you look after yourself, it sounds like you have been through a hell of a lot.
@secretlyhermione - we travel 4+ hours fairly regularly to see family. I’m just debating whether we will do it next week. Plan lots of stops and make sure that the baby isn’t in the seat for too long. You also need to factor in that your 8hour journey may well take 12 by the time you have taken feeding and changing breaks. I personally think 8hours travelling might be a bit too ambitious. It is do-able, but bear in mind that travelling with a newborn can be quite stressful if they are really crying and there is nowhere to stop and see to them. Another thing is that all babies are different - some are really happy travelling in the car and will sleep, others don’t like it at all! You’ll have to see what kind you get!!

secretlyhermione · 15/10/2019 10:54

@Maryrobinson81 @Figuringitout thanks so much for the advice! I did tell my partner we need to factor in lots of breaks and hoping my baby will love car journeys! Def makes me feel better that others have attempted similar trips with such little ones. So it is possible, and I just need to be confident! And yes I agree attempting this trip by train would probably be even more stressful so far it is. Now let's just wait for his/her arrival!
