Ladies ? update on Fettle, her DH posted the following at 23:25 last night!

?Hello All,

First post of 'Fettle Watch' from DH here!!

I have just been sent home to get some sleep as not a huge amount seems to be happening so far. Two lots of Prostin and lots of mini-contractions but no full blown labour as of yet. Was 1cm dilated earlier and they could have used the old crochet hook but decided to use the second lot of prostin and wait until tomorrow to try in earnest.

Thanks for all the words of support, I will ensure DW (is that the right term to use?!?!?) knows you are all thinking of her.

I am sure I will have more news tomorrow!!

Hope you are all well.

Mr Fettle?

Woooozle100 · 19/09/2007 09:59

Exciting - mini fettle could be making an appearance right now!

Wishing her all the best

MrsMc email me schmoo _ 76 at hotmail . com without spaces and proper @ if you are interested in cd. Will send you copy. Its preparation for hospital /birth centre delivery

Big hello to everyone else. Glad we are all ticking over nicely - even if it is a bit fraught and anxious

Mumpbump · 19/09/2007 10:20

Morning all! Bubba is still hanging on in there despite continuing contractions. Fortunately, they seem to go for periods of time so it's not too bad. Consultant appointment tomorrow and then see what happens, I guess. I see that mini-Fettle has still not arrived so I guess the next graduate could still be either of us...

Hello and welcome to the new people who have joined the thread. I hope that you find it as helpful and supportive as I did and that you have very boring pregnancies!!

Still trying to get things sorted out in case bubba puts in an appearance. Didn't realise there was so much to do... Will keep you all posted on any developments...

gingercat12 · 19/09/2007 10:24

This is the most exciting thread by far! Good luck to Fettle and Mumpbump ...

feedmenow · 19/09/2007 11:30

Oh, I'm on the edge of my seat! What a day this could turn out to be!

Missworry, you are so most definately in the right place to be able to fret and worry. I am now 14+1 and have only just really started to relax at all, but that IS after one EPU scan at 5+6, two private scans at 8+6 and 9+5 and my 12 weeks scan last Monday! Plus, I have now bought myself a doppler to try an dreassure myself in these long weeks til I feel bubba moving. And I can tell you that for days before each of my scans I convinced myself that everything had gone wrong! I have been feeling really rather rough, so every time I felt even slightly better I thought that it was over. There were my RL friends all pleased for me that I was felling less sick and tired while I was there saying how awful it was!
With your history your worries are understandable and justified, but I so hope that this is a lucky one for you and that you and your dh can start to look forward to this pg.

Well, on a different note, why can men be such pratts? having had 2 sections in the past and being really keen for a vbac this time, I have done loads of research which has included lots on having supportive women with you at the birth. So I asked my best buddy ages ago if she would come, along with my dp. And now I am worrying alittle about my dp as he is very squeemish and HATES hospitals, so I reminded him that I have asked my friend to be there too. he got in a strop!!! he said he didn't want her there! I asked him to remember WHO would be giving birth so WHO was in charge, and WHO has the right to do things whichever way they feel most comfortable with! And then he said "I won't have her telling me what to do!" in a really stroppy way. So I said "No, I'll be bloody well telling you what to do you selfish idiot!". Seriously, where does he get off? If this is going to be the sort of sttitude he continues with then I might well tell him not to bother being there at all!!

goingfor3 · 19/09/2007 11:39

Hello Ladies,

I've come to join you. I had a mc at 16 weeks in July due to catching measles, I also mc'ed my first baby at 20 weeks but have been lucky enough to have two healthy girls inbetween. I'm only 4+5 I got a bfp on monday, I already feel really tired and light headed which I see as good signs as my body is doing something. My mc's were unrelated but I feel really nervous about being unlucky again. Good luck everyone!

EllieG · 19/09/2007 12:41

Hello goingfor3 - congratulations on your BFP x here's to a dull and uneventful preganancy.

Feedmenow - I said to my DP that I would like my sister there and he stropped. He said it was supposed to be a special couple time and having another person would spoil it.

VERY EXCITED FOR FETTLE AND MUMPBUMP!

feedmenow · 19/09/2007 13:53

Congratulations and welcome, Goingfor3! Sounds like you have a lot of sadness in your past . But hopefully that is where it will stay now, and you will have only happy stuff in your future!

daisyandbabybootoo · 19/09/2007 14:35

just popped in for news of fettle and seen her DHs words..

...go fettle, go fettle, go fettle Woo!!

Hi missworry...hopefully you can change your name to misslaidback soon! fingers crossed for you that things work out. I'm 38 and just (well 15 weeks ago, yikes) had my second DC after two mc in a year. this is the right thread for you....lots of support and helping you through the worry.

Good luck also to mumpbump, plp and rubles....and ejt not long now.

The success after mc thread is going to get busy....yay!

ejt1764 · 19/09/2007 15:20

Afternoon all ...

quickly from me, just to say hiya to missworry, fihi, and goingfor3 - may you have boring and uneventful pregnancies ... I'm 36, and having baby no.2, following 2 MCs last year - and have managed to get to 38 weeks ...

We've all been at the frantic knicker checking stage ... I famously ran out of a class, leaving them with the LSA, because I thought I felt a "gush" ... turned out to be ladylotion!

And as for symptoms coming and going, that's a good sign - your hormone levels are all over the place ...

thinking of you ...

No further developments from me btw - still getting niggly twinges, but I had them for a couple of weeks before Rhydian arrived, so I'm not holding my breath!

Hydro this morning was blissful! Choir tonight - that's bound to get madam squirming ... she kicks like mad when I sing!

ejt1764 · 19/09/2007 15:21

forgot to add....

go fettle, go mumpy, go fettle, go mumpy ...

Glimmer · 19/09/2007 16:16

go fettle, go mumpy, go fettle, go mumpy ...

MrsMcJnr · 19/09/2007 17:42

Nothing new from the Fettles at the moment ladies ? hoping they are just so in love that they can?t bring themselves to do anything but look at him

Mumpbump oooooooooo how exciting all the very best for tomorrow unless something happens in between!

Thanks for the info Bouncing

MOM ? hon, you?ll be fine thanks for your thoughts for me, I am really lucky, so far so good and I just have to hope that continues, you are right, we?ll have lots of photos ? I have 15 at the mo from 4 scans!

Welcome Missworry and congratulations! (good name ) we can empathise here, we have all or all do feel exactly the same. We?ve all noticed on here that pg symptoms come and go and that some people are lucky and just don?t suffer as much as others, it?s the luck of the draw and nothing to do with the viability of the bean. Lower kick pain is a symptom and though mine didn?t kick in until about 17 weeks oh boy yes it?s here now! I?m not sure how safe it would be to have a scan every week but things will get easier once you see the bump and then when you feel kicks, that is all very reassuring. If you are 9 weeks now, surely you?ll be having another scan in a few weeks to date you? If I were you I?d use that as the next milestone and just take it from there and in the meantime ? keep repeating our mantra ?healthy and well? and come and talk whenever you like. Believe me, the way you feel is totally natural after a previous MC x

Gingercat ? is that you adding yourself to the list hon?

Hey Positive ? how are you? Hope you are holding up ok xx

Ejb oh hon that would be fab! I?ll email you!

Feedmenow oh dear, you sound very cross with DP! It does sound like he feels he?ll be robbed of his place in it all ? I was worried mine would feel like that when I suggested a Doula but he was all for it because he knows she?ll support him too but I guess it is a bit different. Maybe you can broach the subject again when he calms down?

Oh Goingfor3 how lovely to have you here! Welcome and congratulations hon. I am so excited to be on a thread with you again! I am so sorry about what happened to you in July, none of us knew what had happened to you and I am so pleased you have fallen again I really hope that this is a really easy, happy and straightforward pregnancy

Ejt ? so madam is going to be a singer hey?!

Glimmer, EllieG, Daisy, Fihi ? hello

Just got back from midwife, Beanie is fine, kicking away and heart beat was good, she measured my fundal length today - all new to me it was 24 which she seemed to think was fine (I'm 23+1), what does that mean? BP getting better and I finally have the dates for my parentcraft classes and I have my MATB1

goingfor3 · 19/09/2007 18:02

Hello MrsMcJnr, good to hear all is going well for you. The fundal height measurement sure be about the same as your weeks, yous is so the baby is growing at the expected rate. I'll explain what happened to me. I had the cervial stitch out in on a thursday, I had some bleeding after but baby was fine. I also developed a rash on my face on friday which the dr's thought was an allergic reaction to the antibiotics. By saturday the rash was worse so I was prescribed some piriton and everything was fine with the baby (good strong heartbeat) so I went home. I had a bit of a sore throat and felt very tired so went to bed and bascially stayed there for the next few days. Saturday evening I developed a temp so I thought I had a throat infection I had antibiotics so thought it would get better. On monday I was still feeling awful, I hadn't really eaten since the op and started throwing up too, my gp said it was a throat infection and gave me different antibiotics. On tuesday I felt even worse so called the gp for a home visit, the dr called a couple of hours later and told me to come to the surgery in the afternoon. About an hour bofre I was due to leave I had very bad stomach pains and soon relalised they were contractions so I called for an abulance. By the time I reached the hospital the pain was excrutiating partly because my cervix was being ripped by the stitch everytime I contracted, I had some morphine but it didn't help the pain it was so bad. The stitch had slipped to one side so I gave birth through it to a perfectley formed little boy. A few hours later I had the stitch removed and that was an awful experince as it was really painful. The staff were fantastic and I felt that I had excelent care. It wasn't until just over a week later when the girls were both covered in spots that we realised we had all had measles and this was confirmed last week when we got our swab results back. The post mortem of the baby showed that everything was well delveloped and showed no signs of infection so it was nothing to do with the stitch. I was just very unlucky.
Anyway thats enough of my depressing story, it feels good to get it out though. Hopefully we will hear some new baby news to lighten the thread!

siameez · 19/09/2007 18:14

What an exciting week! Can't wait to hear news of the babies and a big warm welcome to the newbies. Glad you've made it here and fingers crossed for an easy pregnancy!

I had my 12 week scan yesterday and all was well. After so many early scans it was amazing to actually see a recognisably baby-shaped thing in there with fingers and nose and everything

Just a quickie as off to collect DS but hope I get a chance to check back in the next couple of days as so much seems to be happening! Good luck everyone!!

MrsMcJnr · 19/09/2007 18:37

Thanks Goingfor3 ? my 20 week scan (well it was at 21) said that Beanie was a few days ahead so that ties in Your story is so sad hon and it must have been horrific, when you left the AN thread, it really rocked me and I was so sad for you and I got so scared because like we all do, you hope that 16 weeks means you are safe. I remember you going for the stitch. What a horrible irony that it all happened around then and disguised what was really going on. The pain from the stitch must have been awful when you had your other pregnancies and had stitches then, was it better because the labour was full term or do you still get the pain? And did they not test for rubella immunity or did it just make no difference? I am so sorry about your boy, I really am I like to think that our lost angels will protect the next one, I?m sure your lost angels will be watching your new bean I should have been 38 weeks this week I am really, truly so excited for Fettle and Mumpbump and all the ladies due now but I am also a little reflective over my lost baby ? it sounds so odd but I was sure she was a girl (my Ava) and I really feel this beanie is a boy and as I grow to love him more, it does get easier to accept that she is never going to arrive but I so wish I could have had them both xxx

Great news about the scan Siameez

spugs · 19/09/2007 19:12

it looks like its a race to the finish line for mump and fettle good luck

goingfor3 - congratulations on the pregnancy, im really sorry to hear about your little boy. heres hoping for an uneventful pregnancy for you hun.

missworry - my symptoms started to go at 9 weeks, i was never sick just felt rougth. im in deepest sympothy for the aching, i walked round town today and was agony. felt like id pulled every muscle in my pelvis.

been to topshop today and bought a really nice jumper and t shirt, didnt get maternity just got a size 12 so hopefully theyll fit for a while.i bought a load of tunic tops in the sale but now im sick of wearing baggy stuff and feel like wearing something that shows off my mini bump i put on a pair of jeans this am and they are getting a bit tight so i think im going to have to consider making the move to maternity kecks.

my1stbaby · 19/09/2007 20:28

Hi all, sorry been away for so long. Was very poorly for a while and not feeling much better but here i am at 15+2, which is something to cheer about .

haven't been able to catch up yet with all the news but just want to wish fettle and mumbump all the best of luck!

have obstetrician app next week for 1st time as pg is being classified as high-risk now. no movement from beanie yet... when should i feel it you think? last saw beanie heartbeat was at nuchal at 13+1. seems ages ago now.

hope everyone is doing well.

x

missworry · 20/09/2007 08:23

Thankyou for your support. Some of you have said some very helpful and reassuring things.

FEEDMENOW! How much does a doppler cost and where did you get it?

Today I went to my Doctor and asked for another scan and a pregnancy hormone level blood test and she refused me both

Although I have an appointment with an obstetrician for next week (week 10)and I'll be getting a scan then and then another at 12 weeks. Im holding my breath until I'm past 12 weeks but then I'll probably find something else to worry about.

POSITIVE what a frightening time you had with your other pregnancy. Sounds like we're about a week apart with due dates, lets stick together. Do you have other children or will this be your first? Were you given a reason for the m/c? I was just told, "well its common, even to have 2 or 3 m/c's, 1/5 pregnancies miscarry blah, blah, blah". Its really hard to hear that stuff when you've got this desperate sense of running out of time!!!!!

Good luck and best wishes to all. I'm holding my breath until next week.

ejt1764 · 20/09/2007 08:40

Morning all ... had a wonderful time at choir last night - we're singing 2 new songs for an Eisteddfod competition in Llandudno (which I won't be singing at, as it's on 3rd November, and would mean an overnight stay - not practical with a small baby! ) ... there's one you just have to dance to - it's a Nigerian wedding song, the other one is an arrangement of "The Lord is My Shepherd" (in Welsh), beautiful harmonies, and just wonderful to sing ...

Guess which one Madame chose to dance / squirm to?

Every time she kicked last night, if I moved, somebody in the choir would mouth at me "Are you ok?" ... I think they were worried I'd go into labour there and then!

Anyway, I had 2 hours of contractions in the night last night - every 10 minutes or so ... but nothing since about 4am ...

What I wanted to ask was that I get somebody's email address / mobile number, so that if anything does happen, I can let you know ...

Anyway, now going back to bed for a bit, as the contractions last night obviously kept me awake, and I'm now going to go and catch up on some sleep!

oh, and missworry ... keep repeating the following mantra "healthy and well, healthy and well" - take each minute at a time if necessary ...

Bouncingturtle · 20/09/2007 09:01

Hello ejt - glad you had a good night
I saw my friend's baby, 6 days old and sooooo gorgeous!! He was so good too
If you want, you can email me on sonia dot bailey @ gmail dot com and I'll give you my mobile no.!
It's all very exciting!

EllieG · 20/09/2007 09:06

Hey all -
ejt your choir sounds lovely and has inspired me to do the same. Think I might start looking round for one to join, though it won't be as good as a lovely north wales type one. I always used to be in choirs when was younger and had forgotten how much fun it is.
Getting v excited about your contractions! If you want an email mine is:
e dot pinel@health dot gov dot je (obviously not with 'dot' and no spaces I just heard was safer to write it that way) or
elliepinel@yahoo dot co dot uk

goingfor3 - am so sorry to hear your sad story, have everything crossed that this time it works out.

spugs - how far are you now lady? I put on my jeans last night and they are getting very uncomfy, but was putting off buying maternity ones til 12 week scan as don't wan to tempt fate. Am starting to fret this morning as my boobs are not as hurty so convincing myself something is wrong. (Repeats mantra to self 'healthy and well healthy and well....')

siameez - congrats on the scan! Lovely news!

MrsMc - glad things are still going well for you. Know what you mean about still being a bit refective about the ones lost, I don't think it really stops you missing them totally to be PG again, I think I will always have a little sore place for my other one, but it gets less uncomfy.

Hey missworry - hope you won't have to soon. Remember the mantra xxx

Go fettle and mumpbump!

becklespeckle · 20/09/2007 11:05

Fettle - hope you have your LO safe in your arms now!

Mump - how exciting - how are you today?

Ejt - exciting news from you too! Any more contractions today?

All these imminent births!

MissWorry, welcome to the thread, you'll find lots of lovely supporting ladies on here. The first couple of months of pg are very worrying after m/c, especially when symptoms come and go but I tend to think that fluctuating symptoms are a good sign as the hormone levels are changing all the time. With my misssed m/c last year the symptoms were the same all the time whereas this time (am now 26 weeks) they changed daily. I know it still makes you worry though.

Goingfor3, hi - have posted a message for you on the TTC after MC thread this morning. How are you? What an awful time you have had and what pure bad luck, I can't imagine it. Hopefully you will have a very dull pg this time around.

My1stBaby, welcome back! With regard to feeling movement they say from about 16 weeks although with first babies it can be nearer 20 as your uterine and stomach muscles are much better. Some people do feel it earlier than that but I wouldn't worry if you are not feeling it yet - you soon will!

Ejb, just wanted to say thanks for the link to the Framehuggers sight a few weeks ago! DS2's patch arrived yesterday and he is soooooo pleased with it (and looks incredibly cute)! He insisted on wearing it to nursery yesterday and when I picked him up I heard a little boy asking his Mum if he could have a patch for his glasses (she said "but you don't have any glasses"...).

Well I am 26 weeks today! 3 more months to go. Work have agreed to keep me sat down on a till the whole time and so last night was a much better night hips wise than Monday (when they gave me a chair but I was up and down all evening to help customers). Still sore today though but looking forward to a relaxing evening (I hope) getting on with babybump's afghan!

MrsMcJnr · 20/09/2007 11:08

Morning all,

Sorry for not posting last night but didn't get in 'till gone 2 am and didn't think many of you would be on then!!!

DS (confirmed as Toby) was born just before 10 last night after a reasonably smooth labour (I shall leave DW to fill you in with the gory details....) weighing in at 8lb 9oz. An absolutely gorgeous little boy, but then again I would say that wouldn't I!

Fettle and DS hopefully coming home later today and I'm sure you will get more from her then!!!

Mr Fettle

becklespeckle · 20/09/2007 11:18

Yay for Fettle and MrFettle and baby Toby!

Looking forward to hearing all the gory details later!
Well done hun!
