MrsMc - sorry you have got more worries, but glad you heard heartbeat! Always reassuring that.
Daisyboo - time does fly! Glad to here you and dd are doing well.
Firststar - 3 weeks already!
Angua - good luck for your scan.
Feedmenow - food is good, hope the sickness passes soon!
MoM - can sympathise - lots of whiffy smells often made me spew too when ms was bad

'm now back in the lab, though not in my old office, our production manager (who has now take all my production duties off me - yippee!!) is in my office, so I'm now sat at the desk of our site admin person who is off sick with stressed - couldn't be arsed swapping back into old office, and besides our old lab building across the way is been refitted to fomr a canteen and 2 new offices, one of which will be mine - so going to stay where I am until it's ready. Then it'll be another game of musical offices lol.

Anyway, hope everyone has a great weekend, looks like we'll have good weather!

karma · 25/08/2007 10:35

Hi everyone,
Thanks as always for the reassurance. The stomach pains have eased but getting them from time to time still although not as strong. MW couldn't throw any light on things. Surely if it was anything serious I would be bleeding by now wouldn't I? These last few weeks have been harder than the first few - don't have my scan until Tues, it can't come soon enough.
Angua - my symptoms seem to be easing too, and I'm coming up to ten weeks. Good news that you've already seen a heartbeat, but the worry doesn't ease does it? Roll on 12 weeks +.
Hope everyone else is well and enjoying the sunshine.

EllieG · 26/08/2007 11:28

Hi all - been away for a few days at a wedding (very dull as no booze). Glad everyone seems ok and that your cramps are dying down karma. I had backache and was panicking about it, but has gone now, and I think it might just have been sitting in uncomfy chairs, so will not worry yet. I think I might ask for an early scan after all - is a bit daft maybe, but I really want to see this baby alive at some point, even if it goes after, I would like to see a little heartbeat at some point. 6 + 1 now, so is a long time to wait for the proper one. Can you just ring the doc and ask them to put you in for one or do you have to go see them?

rubles · 26/08/2007 12:30

EllieG, I think it will probably vary doctor to doctor, but I went to see my doctor and he wouldn't refer me to the epu unless there was reason to be worried. Luckily () I had had some spotting so was referred based on that.
I don't know where you are but there is an EPU in S.London that will take people without referral.

Bouncingturtle · 26/08/2007 13:05

I've been having both stomach pains and back ache during pg, and at 23 weeks, everything is going okay. But I would still talk to your mw if only to put your mind at ease - she'll be used to anxious pg ladies ringing her up - at the end of the day every pg is different, and so it is not surprising we get anxious about any little niggle or pain, after all to the human body pain is normally an indicator that something is wrong! The main thing is that you need to be relaxed about what you are experiencing, and if getting checked out by your mw or your gp or your epu will reassure you then you should push for that.

BTW MIL is fine, just got back to her gp to have a staples removed next week (ouch!).

MerlinsBeard · 26/08/2007 20:19

booked in with MW today. notes have changed soooo much since last time. apparently they are now the same as the rest of thecountry. She put me at 10 weeks, pretty much filled in the answers to the questions herself. she has booked us in 3 times (today wil be the 4th) and did ALL AN care for the DSs! She was lovely and said i don't have to make any decisions yet wrt to the birth and feeding etc. Will have scan in about 3 weeks......tick tock

Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

Went to see DP play in manchester with eth bos this afternoon, no one came and the boys were really naughty so not had a good dayall in all!

rubles · 27/08/2007 07:49

Lucky you MoM having one midwife do all your AN care. Was she at the birth too? You've got the ideal situation there if she was and will be again. Sorry your Sunday was a disappointment.

We had a good day because we shipped dd off to my parents' house for two days, in order to get the packing done for our move this week. But the removals people didn't turn up with the boxes so to apologise they offered to do our packing for free this week! We still had jobs to do but it was all a lot easier, and then we were able to go out to the cinema to see the Bourne Ultimatum and out for a meal..we have so little family support that we haven't been out to the cinema together in AGES. It was lovely, except we both felt weird being out, sort of guilty like we were bunking off school or we should have been revising for an exam.
I also really missed dd... You can't win, when I am with her I get frustrated at not being able to do what I want and then when she is not there I think of her and miss her!

fettleandminifettle · 27/08/2007 08:09

Rubles - it is hard being a mother isn't it?!! I totally sympathise with the missing DD when you leave them!! It was our wedding anniversary on Saturday and DH and I went out for a meal and I really missed DD!! Sad I know - I felt bad, as we had taken bump with us, but not her!!. But it was nice to be able to speak properly to DH for a change!! Definitely not done it enough recently!!

Hope the move goes well!!

Have a good Bank holiday all!
xxx

Uki · 27/08/2007 09:56

Hi All

Apologies in advance, but it is hard keeping up with everyone now. so busy with LL and ds, and all the family and friends raveshing attention on us

can't wait till everyone moves over to the sucess after m/c thread, it is very quiet there, as most babies are a bit more grown up than firsty's and mine.

we are all well, and even sleeping quite well.

Karma and Bouncing- sorry to hear about pains, hope they are just some intigestion or something, i got this a lot early pg quite painful.

MOM -LOL at subway and m/s, makes me feel like that when not pg, not sure how anyone can eat it.

Mrsmc- I'm impresed with your terms too, my dh jokes i could almost become obstetrician after this. Do you drive your dr's mad though, I had one say to me 'that's the problem with you teachers, you like to research' she was crap though and i'm glad i did self diagnose. This time having a good dr. really made me realize what a bad one was.

anqua- good luck for friday

Hey all!
Rubles - sounds like a lucky break with the packing thing - don't feel guilty, just appreciate the time for the two of you, there'll be very little of it soon! Best of luck with rest of the move x

EllieG · 27/08/2007 09:58

Oh and thanks for the advice rubles and bouncingturtle x

MrsMcJnr · 27/08/2007 11:11

Hello ladies at work and feeling badly done to as the rest of the banking world are off today

Mumpbump ? don?t worry, I didn?t take your comment that way I just wish I knew the real impact of all the scary science!

MOM ? glad the MW appointment went well. I?d heard of a few people on here having them at home and at the weekend too. Can?t imagine a Subway shop is good for MS I couldn?t stand the smell of meat cooking for weeks at the beginning!

Feedmenow ? I joked on another thread that you?d have at least thought with these mutations that I?d have very mild super powers!! I think 1-3% of the Caucasian population have the Prothrombin defect and 1-3% of them have a second mutation so yes, quite rare ? especially if you have the MTHFR in both chromosomes like my Mum does, that is just so unlucky! What a horrible time that friend of your friend is having! Definitely think she?s needs some investigation poor thing. Might be worth her reading Lesley Regan?s book on Miscarriage as I did and see if any of the ?reasons? ring any bells in her head as they did for me. It seems Drs are always more proactive when you say ?I want to be tested for X because of Y? rather than asking them to find out why themselves. Did you see ?Knocked up??

Bouncing ? glad to hear that some of your duties have been taken off you

Karma ? hope the scan gives you peace of mind tomorrow and that the pains ease off.

Hello EllieG ? I?ve been to 3 dry weddings now, it?s just not the same! good luck getting an early scan. Call your EPU at your local hospital.

Rubles ? glad your weekend turned out well in the end all the best for the move! Don?t want to rain on your parade but make sure your packers are insured if they do something stupid ? we once got things packed for us (insurance company were paying as we?d had a flood) and they packed my washing up liquid with my cook books, you can imagine the mess and I had to replace all the books, at their cost thank goodness.

Hey Fettle

Hello Uki yes, my MW hates me; I know that she told me not to read anything unless she?d given it to me ? ridiculous! I think she feels that I question her a lot (occupational hazard ) I think my consultants are pleased that I have done my homework though, it makes it easier for them to explain things to me I guess. Glad all is well with you.

Bouncingturtle · 27/08/2007 11:57

DH and I have decorated the nursery - it is a lovely pale yellow called soft sunlight. Looks fab
Now we'll off to Mothercare to buy bits and pieces for Turtle!
Quick question about clothes, been looking at clothes for my hospital bag, and was amazaed at the range of sizes, early baby, tiny baby, newborn, 0-3 mth etc. So how do you know what size you need to get for the first few weeks? I have a couple of bits, just some cardis my mil knitted, and this really cute little body suit which was in the sale, nothing else. But I don't want to leave buying first clothes too late coz it'll all need to be washed before I put them on the baby. So how do you know what size to get? Or should you buy a selection of sizes and hedge your bets?

sonya2580 · 27/08/2007 12:03

Hi every one i am around 7 weeks gone now and im worring so much with this pregnancy i had like period pains but i no that is normal now i have not had any morning sickness yet.
Im also type 2 diabetis so im worried thats going to effect the pregnancy aswell .
I had a misscarrige about 5 years ago i also keep reading stuff on the net and getting worried even more now

MrsMcJnr · 27/08/2007 13:00

Bouncing ? sounds like you are getting really organised, it must have been fun getting the nursery painted! Most people say that the newborn stuff only lasts a couple of weeks max for an average weight baby and babies over 8 pounds go straight into 0-3. I?ll be interested to hear what advice you get!

Welcome Sonya glad you found your way here. We all know how you feel. It makes it much easier if you break the first few months up into bite size chunks, for most of us those have been things like getting past where we were when we lost our babies before, scans, appointments etc. My MS didn?t kick in until 9 weeks, I thought I?d got away with it. Some people just aren?t sick at all. Can?t help on the diabetes front but I am sure you?ll get more care from medical professionals as a result. Talk to us any time any way that you can get an early scan to re-assure you that things are going the way they should? Do you have an early pregnancy unit at your local hospital that you can self refer to? Always worth a try

Uki · 27/08/2007 13:18

Bouncing turtle- i pressume you have the 0000 and so on sizes like we have, and yes the smallest sizes do only last a couple of weeks, but do fit much better. so get a about 5 or 6 singlets in 0000 and growsuits in that size and a then some in the next size. You will get bought a lot of clothes, but most people tend to buy the bigger sizes 000 and 00 as they know they will wear them more. you do go through a lot of clothes and wraps though. The other day i changed LL 4 times, singlet suit and wrap as he kept peeing on them and vommiting, so yeah more suits means less washing.

Ladies this is how Australian Sizes match up to ours

0000 Newborn 47-55cm up to 4kg

00 3-6 Months 60-70cm 6-8kg
0 6-9 Months 70-75cm 8-10kg
1 9-12 Months 75-80cm

sonya2580 · 27/08/2007 16:29

MrsMcJnr · 27/08/2007 17:00

Sonya - glad to hear that appointment isn't far away, a great milestone for you let's hope they do send you for a scan to understand you dates better at this stage, if not, I'd push for one if I were you but for peace of mind try and get it for a date beyond your "danger date" in your mind, that'll make you feel better.

Good news from me, my consultant emailed me back and said that the new mutation makes no difference to our management of my pregnancy as Heparin is adequate protection regardless of whether I have a single or combined deficiency She also confirmed that all is going well and that she was pleased that the foetal heart is now audible and hopes I am reassured by that. She also said that I am ?well on now and risk of miscarriage is much less as you get past the 20 weeks stage? of course I wish my risk of MC was nil now but I guess it never is able to be totally ruled out!

MerlinsBeard · 27/08/2007 19:05

rubles...she delivered DS1 yep and did all the PN visits. She did allAN (wel most) with DS2 but missed the birth because he eas so quick, if it had been 1 hour longer she would have delivered him.

Feedmenow · 27/08/2007 20:05

Hello again Sonya! Glad you made it over! If you really don't know the date of LMP then I would have thought they will scan you earlier. Or, as Mrsmc said, do you have an EPU you can self refer to? I rang my EPU on a Mon afternoon some weeks ago and they saw me on Tues morning and did a scan so there are ways and means!
Mrsmc, good news from your consultant Are you really 20 weeks?????? Didn't get to see Knocked Up yet - replanned for next weekend!
Turtle, I think I would buy maybe 7 sets on newborn to wash ready for wear and then either a) rely on others to bring gifts, b) have another set still in pack that can either be washed for use or returned to shop and exchanged for bigger or c) make sure your dh is ready to go out the day of or the day after lo is born to buy more based on actual birth weight. Do you know what you are having? If not, I think I would go for wait and get dh to buy cos then he can get some flavour appropriate colours!!
The other thing is, make sure you leave tags on as much as poss that you buy or are given cos you might find it doesn't get worn by the time lo has already grown out of it.

Only 14 days til my 12 wk scan! After scan last Wed I have managed to stay both calm and positive for a whole 5 days, but am starting to feel the worry seep back in now. Although in honesty, I am feeling more positive than negative now. Can't remember if I said that the mw at booking visit said she doesn't listen for hb til my 16wk appt, but if I feel that is too long between scan and hearing hb then I can go back at 14 weeks for a listen. Good news for me, and very supportive of her I thought! But am considering getting a dopler after scan......anyone got one? Good idea or bad idea?

Right, dp has my bed ready for me, and it would be rude of me not to show my gratitude by jumping right in so I'm off!

Good night all!

EllieG · 27/08/2007 20:32

Glad to hear you sounding so positive feedmenow - will have all things crossed for the next 14 days, though am sure will be fine x
I like the idea of getting a dopler - I might later on when know it hasn't fallen out just so can hear it. Does anyone know how much they are?
Welcome sonya - sorry you have to be here, but everyone is lovely and is good place to worry on - you know what they say about a problem shared/halved x

daisyandbabybootoo · 27/08/2007 23:04

Hey guys.....just saw THIS.

Big Congratulations PinkRanger

Bouncingturtle · 28/08/2007 06:52

Oh, congrats pinkranger! Hope her flap heals quickly [ouch!]

Uki, FMN - thanks for the tip! So far have bought 3 x cream sleepsuits in newborn and 3 x cream sleepsuits in 0-3mth, so will buy a few in both sizes. Don't know sex so going for neutral colours.

Sonya - welcome and I hope you have an uneventful pg! Feel free to offload here. Also I would push for an early scan just for peace of mind, if you can.
