have you rang? im not sure when your supposed to be booked in at, thought it would be by 12 weeks though!

fettleandminifettle · 22/08/2007 20:10

Hi All

Just wanted to say that i'm so pleased you've had a good scan, feedmenow - I would have been worrying on your behalf as well until your next scan. Although the old blood, brown blood in relation to timing of your previous scan, did sound very plausible to me!

My scan went well thank you - although I'm having a monster baby! (well at least one with a huge head!). At least I've been told I won't be allowed to go much beyond my due date, so no worries about being over due!

Anyway, hope everyone else is doing well - Ejt new bed sounds divine - I long for a more comfortable bed, but we can't really afford it at the moment, having just moved! I'm not even sure that will make sleeping more comfortable - only giving birth is going to affect that now!!

take care all

spugs, i can't ring i have no number. i don't know if its the same were you are but here you go to GP and they confirm then you fill in a pink form which gets passed to mws (they work at clinic twice a week) and they ring you to sort out booking in. the only nunber i have is the drs. Scans are pretty quick from booking in though. I was booked in at 9 weeks (this week?) last time on the wed, started bleeding on the sunday, scanned and lost the baby on the thrsday and scan date came thru for the following week by the friday so i know it won't belong between the two.

its just dragging!

karma · 22/08/2007 20:53

Hi all,
Haven't been on for a while but really worried this evening. I'm 9 weeks now, and since lunch today have been getting quite painful abdominal aches. No bleeding. Paracetamol hasn't touched it. Phoned the hospital this evening and they just said take more paracetamol and not to worry unless I start bleeding. I know some abdominal pain is normal (I've had 2 children previously) but this has been quite bad, and I'm surprised the paracetamol hasn't helped. Just want some reassurance really. I desperately don't want to lose this one (after 2 mc already this year). Anyone experienced this and things have been alright? I have my scan next week. Thanks.

ejt1764 · 22/08/2007 21:19

Hi Karma - I started to get round ligament pain fairly early on in this pregnancy, and it's very painful - and I'm now at 34 weeks ...

As long as you're not bleeding, it's ok - just take it easy, and put a heat pad / hot water bottle on the sore area.

hth

EllieG · 22/08/2007 23:04

Hey karma - I get quite bad ligament pain and the doc said not to worry unless bleeding, or on one side or the other. Keep an eye on it though, and get yourself checked out in the morning if still as bad x

Bouncingturtle · 23/08/2007 07:28

Hello everyone, boy did I have some catching up to do!!
Had my scan on Tuesday (22+2 weeks), Turtle is still bouncing happily, everything absolutely normal. Don't know sex, sonographer thought she saw danglies but when she zoomed in she said she wasn't so sure they were. So will be a nice surprise when turtle joins us
Been down to London, saw mum, came back Monday, and now have pils staying over. Minor crisis, Dh managed to clock mil over the head with the car boot. Luckily she is okay, though she had to have staples in her head , and she was pretty shakey. She just took it easy yesterday, but hope to go out today.
I'm back at work, been several crises while I've been away, worse thing is that our two Site Adminstrators have had a long running feud which has turned into an official greviance, yesterday day, one of them spat her dummy out about something that she took the wrong way, said she was leaving and has gone to her GP to get signed off with stress!
The problem is that the lab has to pick up the work she is leaving, and putting more pressure on our other SA. And we are struggling as it is due to 2 experienced people leaving and I've got 4 new starters to train!!! And I've only got 3 months left to sort everything out for when I go on ML!!!!
It's not that I'm being umsympathetic towards the SA, it did start off with her having a genuine greviance against the other SA, but it seems to have spiralled completely out of control and she is not making it an easy issue to resolve by basically being overly defensive.

Bouncingturtle · 23/08/2007 07:29

Oops sorry that turned into a bit of a rant!!!!
Good news is I can hear again - got my ears sucked out and have been given drops too. What a relief!!!

karma · 23/08/2007 08:42

Thanks EllieG and ejt1764. That's put my mind at rest a bit. Pain seems to have gone now but think I'll ring mw this morning to see what she says.

daisyandbabybootoo · 23/08/2007 08:52

Hi BT....22 weeks already, I can't believe it, but then babyboo is 11 weeks old now! the last three months have flown by.

sorry to hear about your job woes...don't you be getting yourself all worked up about it though...not good for you or turtlette.

Your poor mil....i hope she's ok.

hi to yet more newbies (i'm a recent graduate of this thread ) and to everyone else.

my1stbaby · 23/08/2007 11:18

In a bit of a rush, sorry, but just want to a quick congrats to feedmenow for your positive scan. So pleased all is going well for you.

karma try not to worry, it's prob ligament stretching like evryone says. Hope all will be ok.

Hope everyone else is ok and bouncing along

x

becklespeckle · 23/08/2007 12:28

Hi all! Glad your scans went well Feedmenow and Bouncing! Karma, could be ligament pain but contact MW too, even just for some reassurance. I have had a lot of pain, particularly at the bottom of my bump (from early on too) and MW told me it was due to having 2 children before, the ligaments protest a bit more at being stretched (you think they'd be good at it by now!). Also baby's position may have an impact too, mine sits very low most of the time and that gives me pain and makes me waddle but I can feel it when s/he moves upwards - much more comfy!
Hope everyone else is okay, I find it hard to catch up when not been on for a few days! My carrycot arrived yesterday and it looks brand new! Have pulled it apart to wash it all anyway but it fits my buggy so am very pleased ! Have also started embroidering an Afghan blanket for baby too, whether I get it done before s/he arrives remains to be seen though! I think once the kids are back at school I will have to start thinking about buying some of the things I need for baby, still feel a little nervous at the moment IYKWIM

Firststar - you sound positively smitten!!! So nice...

Feedmenow - pleased to hear about your positive scan. Hoping you can relax a bit now.

Karma - I had some fairly intense pains in the first trimester, but everything was fine, so put it down to ligaments. Try not to worry - you get lots of aches and pains in pg that are 10 times more noticeable after a m/c.

Must go, but am lurking and will post when I have more time...

MerlinsBeard · 23/08/2007 17:53

MW just rung. she is doing booking on Sunday at kunch time. Reassured me about symptoms coming and going and said that my not being able to eat much a few weeks ago was surely an indication of high hormone levels.

Its the same one we had for booking in with DS1 and 2 so that will be nice.

The sense of relief from having that one small phone call is amazing! i told her i won't be assured until i see alittle heart beating on a screen and she said she doesn't blame me!

MrsMcJnr · 23/08/2007 20:25

Hello ladies all was fine at MW yesterday, heard the HB and BP was ok

MOM ? I as referring to the sickness bands, ginger nuts, minstrels and plastic bag with no holes in! great that you now have a booking in appointment

Hello Mumpbump, My1stbaby, EllieG, Fettle & Spugs

Firsty ? thanks I am relieved about getting near the 20 week mark but have just found out that my Mum has another genetic mutation in addition to the one I already know I have so I don?t know how that affects things need to talk to my consultant. You sound so happy

Beckle ? great about the carrycot very impressive with your creativity on the blanket front! What are you embroidering on it?

Daisy ? 11 weeks wow!

Karma ? hope you are feeling much better

Bouncing so pleased everything went well at the scan your poor MIL sorry work is still awful

Ejt ? you sound very talented too hope your good day yesterday continued into today

Feedmenow ? fab news!!

Hello Uki no calcium results available yesterday.

Feedmenow · 24/08/2007 09:48

Morning all! Another new day for us all.

MOM, did you really mean your mw is booking on a Sunday? They must be really pushed for time if they are doing that!! But great news that you've heard from her at last!

Firsty, 3 weeks old???? That just seems to be flying by! Are you doing that thing where you try and remember every last little thing, every look every cute sleepy face, etc, just so you have a mental photo of every single moment? They just change so quickly, and you don't even notice it half the time....

Fettle, aaah, head size! My ds was born with a head circumference off the chart! He was a section, but I have been told since that it is still highly possible I could have birthed him as his head would have moulded........but imagine the cone-head he would have had!!

Mumpbump · 24/08/2007 11:39

Morning all!

Firststar - my ds is the other way around at 18 months. Loves the bath, but hates having his hair washed. We only manage to do it once a week, if we're lucky, as I figure he'll get better with age.

MrsMcJnr - pleased to hear you heard the hb. What is the other genetic mutation? You're having an unfortunately interesting pregnancy, aren't you??

MOM - that's interesting about hormone levels killing your appetite. With apologies to all those worrying about their weight, I really struggle to eat during pg, it seems, and often wind up only having a snack for dinner - and I don't snack between meals as it is. Glad it's not just me!!

Feedmenow - you sound upbeat today! Any plans for the weekend?

We're off to see the Bourne Ultimatum tomorrow - provided I manage to book tickets today! No dsc and we have a babysitter to look after ds. Makes an outing to the cinema really expensive, but I think Jason Bourne is great and loved the books - as always, much better than the films!!

AnguaVonUberwald · 24/08/2007 12:05

Hey, sorry I haven't been on for a while, I hope no-one minds that I kind of dip in and out. It seems to depend very much on how I am feeling about the pregnancy (i.e. how scared, what symptoms)

My symptoms seem to be easing off a bit now (10 weeks) is this normal? Though definatly getting the stomach cramps that karma was talking about.

What time have other peoples symptoms eased?

Saw the heartbeat at 9 weeks, but still so scared, esp with the cramping - main scan next friday (at 11 weeks) - fingers crossed

MrsMcJnr · 24/08/2007 12:31

Hello everyone, happy Friday

Hey Mumpbump ? we already knew I was heterozygous for the prothrombin (G20210A) gene and suspected my Mum would be too but she is also homozygous for the MTHFR mutation C677T. This apparently means that she has inherited it from both of her parents and has a double whammy! I haven?t been tested for this (and don?t think I can be whilst pg)It?s unlikely that I will be homozygous far more likely to be heterozygous for that too but the fact that there may be another genetic mutation to add to the one I have has got me worried. Have emailed my consultant and will keep you posted!

Mumpbump · 24/08/2007 12:38

Angua - in case you're not back before next Friday, good luck!

MrsMcJnr - technical lingo or what?? What does that mean in practical terms? Is it just another clotting variant or does it have more serious implications?

MrsMcJnr · 24/08/2007 12:45

sorry Mumpbump, in practical terms it means the risk of thrombosis is substantially increased but I don't know what it means yet for my current treatment or my prognosis for this pregnancy.

Mumpbump · 24/08/2007 13:52

Sorry - that came out a little brusquer than I meant. I am actually impressed with the way you reeled off all the various terms - you are clearly fast becoming an expert on chromosomal terminology!!

MerlinsBeard · 24/08/2007 14:37

FMN...yep MW booking in on sun! They do bookingin at home here (do they do that where you are?) its just a cse of saying "hi i'm your mw, heres your notes, see you after scan" really. they just add it to their list of visits they do in the mornings.

MrsMcJnr....aaaahhh the MS remedies from DS2! i needed them i am telling you! the amount of times the poor delivery driver had to watch me throw up in a bin outside was embarrasing! Note to all pg women...the smell of subway (the shop) first thing in a morning does NOT help with morning sickness!

Feedmenow · 24/08/2007 17:31

Mrsmc, that was damn impressive, I agree with Mump!! I just skimmed over half the words cos I don't think I could pronounce them! I take it that what you suffer/carry is quite rare? I was trying to explain a little about this to a friend of mine earlier cos she has a friend who, it seems, has just suffered her 4th mc - mc, ds, mc, dd, mc, mc. I said that she should insist on investigative tests cos that just sounds ridiculous! The poor woman!! She may not have had the "3 successive mc's" that they seem to want people to have had before investigating, but I'd say she should insist on getting some answers!

MOM, no we book at the clinic here. I spent a good hour with the mw on Tues going through my history and doing bloods, etc. However, I'm surprised how little I'll be seeing anyone! Basically now I've booked I've got 12 week scan, mw at 16wks, scan at 22 weeks, mw at 28wks, mw at 34 wks, mw at 38 then 40 wks. Apparently you have less appts when it isn't your first! But going from 16 to 28 wks without seeing the mw seems like an awfully long time to me!

Mump, I DO sound upbeat today don't I? I doubt it will last, but I might as well make the most of it! Was hoping to get to the cinema with the girls this w/end to see Knocked Up, but not sure if we'll make it now cos everyone is always so busy.

Anyway, I'm off to seek food. Feeling sick and need to eat!!
