Due June 2020 - Baby #1

Hello all, after 9 years of unexplained infertility with 1 failed round of IVF in April I am finally pregnant!

Currently in my 7th week (6 weeks 3 days) and due 1st June 2020!

I need some advice because my anxiety about being pregnant is really affecting me and that something might me wrong.

There are times I feel pain that comes and goes in my lower abdomen. Sometimes on the left and other times on the right but mostly on the left. The pain is not by the hips its lower down to the left of the pubic hair line so still quite central but to the left and right of it.

My GP appointment isn't until Tues where I guess they will refer me to a midwife at the hospital.

Should I go for an early scan?

The only people who know I'm pregnant apart from DH are those on the Conception thread and I think the burden of this is overwhelming and doesn't feel like its quite sunk in yet!

Thankfully I've read the feeling sick is only temporary lol also does anyone else have a bit of pudgyness now around 6-7 weeks? I've fluctuated about 5 lbs back and forth but I definitely have more of a pot belly. I doubt it's baby and prob because I'm eating bread again haha

PurpleFox817 · 20/10/2019 18:54

Congratulations @MissMum2020 how did the scan go? Forgive my ignorance but could you see much of baby? X

MissMum2020 · 20/10/2019 20:07

@PurpleFox817
Hiya! Scan was amazing it made it finally feel real and I saw the heartbeat which was just incredible! Definitely worth the £45.
You can see a tiny little blob haha but it's only the size of a blueberry at the moment apparently so not much too see. Amazing experience non the less though 🥰

PurpleFox817 · 20/10/2019 20:13

@MissMum2020 that's amazing!!!!!! I am only 5 plus 4 days so earlier than you. Due between my birthday and our second wedding anniversary. At the doctors on Tuesday to see the nurse and it will suddenly start feeling more real when they 'know' sounds daft but I'm just so surprised I am pregnant after being told it wouldn't happen naturally that I keep doubting it

MissMum2020 · 20/10/2019 20:36

@PurpleFox817 doesn't sound daft at all! I felt the exact same... I had banned myself from doing tests a while back because I've had years of trying and disappointment. Then to find out I'm 7+5 today when I only found out this week is totally surreal.
So happy for you, it's the beginning of an amazing journey! Keep positive x

PurpleFox817 · 20/10/2019 21:49

Thanks @MissMum2020 it's so exciting 😍

Lucindaa · 21/10/2019 14:29

I need to ask a completely stupid question.

If the fetal pole was measured at 4mm and dated at 5.4 weeks when I am 8 weeks pregnant does this mean there is an issue with the growth?

All my calculations suggest the baby should be the size of a blueberry.

@Lucindaa sorry but I'm a complete novice with these things but couldn't see your post and not reply. I wonder how accurate the measuring really is? My friend is due any day and not long ago they rushed her in with concerns about growth.....turned out they had it wrong. Also in terms of dating could it be that your cycles were irregular as that makes it less precise (and it isn't precise to start with)

Lucindaa · 21/10/2019 20:17

@PurpleFox817 My husband was not impress with the lady who did the scan! While she was poking around she uttered there was no heart beat then when she actually slowed down she saw it!

I have a midwife appointment on Thursday which I hope will clear things up for us slightly I hope! Thank you for responding

Hey all, first pregnancy at 38 after 18 years on Depo....nervous as anything. Due 7th June (per nhs website). Feeling absolutely atrocious, nausea, headaches, back ache, sore boobs.... but just grateful that we conceived naturally after so long on the injection

MissMum2020 · 21/10/2019 20:53

@spierse huge congratulations!! I've had all of this too and although it's not nice it's at least making it feel real! Really happy for you and I'm due the same week so I'm right there with you 😁

MissMum2020 · 21/10/2019 21:06

@Lucindaa no such thing as a stupid question hun 🙂 the measurements don't sound right to me but I'm a total beginner at all this. I would just say try not to worry (easier said than done I know) and just ask all the questions you have at your appointment!
Have you worked out that you're 8 weeks just based on your last period?
Stay positive xx

spierse · 21/10/2019 21:08

Thanks @MissMum2020 in a way its good because I am so nervous at least the sicker I feel the more reassurance that gives me! Other thing is I am so bloated, I used to have such a flat stomach and I just cant get over how swollen I am already, though it fluctuates wildly throughout the day. I'm also a June baby myself so find it nice knowing my mum was pregnant with me around this time of year. Weeks are dragging by so slowly, haven't heard back about my midwife appointment yet, did the online self referral on NHS

MissMum2020 · 21/10/2019 21:32

@spierse I feel exactly the same about the symptoms, they are reassuring! I've also been bloated which is making me paranoid that people will notice and guess because I want to keep it secret for atleast another 4 weeks and that's going to be hard enough as it is!
I went for a private scan last week as I had no idea how far gone I was and couldn't wait to find out. I can recommend it if it's something you were looking at?
Have you told anyone yet?x

Well ladies, my first actual morning sickness this morning.....had to pull over on my commute to work 🤦‍♀️ feel like death today but excited to go to my nurse appointment today and done my urine sample ready

Lucindaa · 22/10/2019 11:19

@spierse Congrats!! I know that feeling after just 1 round of IVF. What is strange we also conceived naturally after IVF Smile I've also been bloated like crazy since week 4 and currently into week 9 things have settled down slightly.

@MissMum2020 I'm trying to stay positive but that early scan gave us much hope seeing a heart beat but also raised new concerns. My calculations are based on my last period but also when I ovulated.

Thanks @lucindaa i also did an early scan last week, showed as "uncertain" and they have said to come back in 2 weeks as it may be too early, sac and yolk were clear and present but no heartbeat or clear fetus as yet, not what I was expecting given all you read so it did not do much to reassure, personally wish I had waited a little longer before going. Hence the horrible state of my symptoms at least making me feel like hopefully all is progressing well. Just had my flu jab done, anyone else had that yet, expecting that to make me also feel wonderful 😭

Rinoa · 22/10/2019 17:16

Had my second scan yesterday (6,6) and was amazing, it was so little but we saw the flickering heart beat! Turns out we are not allowed to hear it as the equipment used for that is too much this early. I'm so fine with that and I even got a scan to take home! Next up midwife call, hoping she will call this week. Nurse said to call up if nothing by Friday. Hope everyone is dealing with the aches and nausea! I find crackers and cold water helps 😂 also got a really soft bra from M&S that helps at work

Lucindaa · 22/10/2019 17:42

@spierse you have way more symptoms than me and surely that is a good sign!! I am praying your next scan you see your lil bean. How far along were you at the time of your scan? x

@Rinoa I'm wearing a sports bra at work lol

Rinoa · 22/10/2019 17:46

You know, I find work (boob wise) fine it's the sleeping with sore boobs that bug me! And peeing all hours of the night haha

Also I find vitamin b12 help with the fatigue

Lucindaa · 22/10/2019 21:12

@yea sleeping is hell. Everyday I wake up like clockwork at 4am to visit the toilet and have a snack as I'm literally starving!

OP posts:
spierse · 22/10/2019 23:34

@rinoa I am wearing soft crop top bras at night and its making such a difference

@lucindaa app says I was 6 weeks 5 days, but lady doing the scan says it can be off. Meant to be having a follow up scan on 31/10 but DH has asked that we wait until the NHS one on 27/11, I agree with him, dont think the stress is helping me, all symptoms point to things being ok so Im just going to wait for midwife appointment first.

Rinoa · 23/10/2019 08:11

Yea think that's a good idea about the soft crop bra. I will get some! Anyone invest in a good body pillow they can recommend ?

@spierse think you are beat doing what you think is best. Sometimes it's best to wait but if the waiting will stress u out then go earlier. I'm sure all will go well :)

Squisha82 · 23/10/2019 16:57

@Rinoa dreamgenii pillows seem to be really popular. I've not got one yet but it one I'll try I think
