Hello all, after 9 years of unexplained infertility with 1 failed round of IVF in April I am finally pregnant!

Currently in my 7th week (6 weeks 3 days) and due 1st June 2020!

I need some advice because my anxiety about being pregnant is really affecting me and that something might me wrong.

There are times I feel pain that comes and goes in my lower abdomen. Sometimes on the left and other times on the right but mostly on the left. The pain is not by the hips its lower down to the left of the pubic hair line so still quite central but to the left and right of it.

My GP appointment isn't until Tues where I guess they will refer me to a midwife at the hospital.

Should I go for an early scan?

The only people who know I'm pregnant apart from DH are those on the Conception thread and I think the burden of this is overwhelming and doesn't feel like its quite sunk in yet!

Thanks @Chester6, I have had the opposite issue - loose stools 🤦‍♀️ I am trying to follow slimming world as I had only just rejoined and was so ready to lose weight; last week I gained 1/2 pound and I was still gutted as I can't tell people why I think that gain was 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have felt so nauseous and only managed to eat as and when....of course it's not terrible food I've been eating but it's not also fully
Slimming world and I'm dreading the next few weigh ins because of the likely maintains etc.....I still need to keep and eye on my weight as I am overweight and I really don't need to put on more than necessary. It was a case of what happens first, baby or weight loss.......

LH1987 · 13/10/2019 13:40

@Chester6 Hi, I can totally empathise, I'm only 4+4 now but I'm already panicking. I have some health conditions and last year got very sick and was in a comma for 7 weeks with a long recovery period. Bizarrely, I got pregnant on the first try but I feel it was too easy and something might go wrong! I am seeing the GP tomorrow as I already had an appointment booked in for something else. I am going to ask for a six week scan but go into it knowing that I might see nothing and that's not the end of the world as it might just be too early.

As it is, you are probably panicking now, a six week scan has the chance of calming you down and if you see nothing you will probably just be feeling the same level of anxiety as you were before. That's just my opinion though. Wishing you luck.

Chester6 · 13/10/2019 17:22

Thanks so much @LH1987. I know it’s easier said than done but I think you are definitely due some good luck so this is your time. I am so sorry about all your health issues.
And thank you @PurpleFox817. It is so hard when you can’t tell people. I’m pretty sure my boss thought I looked dreadful the other day but I resisted explaining. 😂 I guess all you can do is your best with balancing the healthy eating/eating what you need and can keep down and what will be will be. And with any luck the next few weeks will go quickly, we will all have healthy scans and then we can tell everyone. I have dreamed of that day for a very very long time. 😍 And it’s so lovely we are all due so close together. xx

mspeanutbutter · 13/10/2019 20:37

@Chester6 welcome and congratulations! At 6 weeks there likely isn't a heartbeat yet but do what makes you most relaxed. But it's totally understandable that you're nervous.

With eating I try to choose the most healthy option. My last pregnancy I gained 26kg (I started at 58kg) I ate everything on sight and just thought it was normal to fulfil every craving I was having. This time I'm trying to just eat my normal meals and not increasing how much I eat till the 2nd trimester. I really only need to gain 11-15kg to be healthy.

Are we all in metric countries lol?

Sweetpea1989 · 13/10/2019 20:48

@Chester6 I have the same problem, Blush I was the same last time in the early stages, no matter how many veggies and how much water I consume! Crazy to think what’s going on inside that we can’t see.

PurpleFox817 · 13/10/2019 23:41

@mspeanutbutter I work in stones and all I know is I weigh too many of them already 😂 I went off food last week but this week I appear to be back to normal.....gone off yogurts already 😞

Twbmod · 14/10/2019 04:22

I’m 4+3 and have Type 1 Diabetes too. Twins with you!

Twbmod · 14/10/2019 04:23

@LH1987 I’m s Type 1 Diabetic and I’m currently 4+3 also. Are we the same person. Lol

thosethreewords · 14/10/2019 07:24

Hi everyone! Hope I can join you all! Very early days for me (4w) but we've been trying for some time so it's come as quite a (great) shock!
Hardly slept all night worrying I had this twinge and that twinge... first baby for both of us!

Squisha82 · 14/10/2019 08:31

@thosethreewords congratulations! We sound on similar time frames, as I'm just 4 weeks gone too.
I'm terrible at the moment for little twinges, everything seems so much worse when it's probably a little indigestion 🙈🙈

LH1987 · 14/10/2019 08:39

@Twbmod - no way, that’s brilliant! Is this your first? Are you freaking out over ever slightly raised blood sugar as well?

thosethreewords · 14/10/2019 11:37

@Squisha82 I can't concentrate on work because I feel I'm so hyper aware of everything!

thosethreewords · 14/10/2019 11:39

Has anyone told anyone yet? I haven't (except when I sobbed and stuttered to DH last night and he thought someone had died!!)
I'm seeing my best friend at the weekend so will tell her in person. I'm the worst at keeping my own secrets! I'm trying not to get excited too which is so weird because we've been wanting this for so long.
Obviously it happened just as I planned multiple trips for next year to distract myself AND just bought some boxing gloves to start kickboxing!

Smiffette · 14/10/2019 12:05

@thosethreewords I told my boss last week as my team member who I share an office with has Shingles! I had a major panic about it and didn't go back to the office. I am now sitting in a different office this week so had to explain to her why as she is new and I didn't want her to think I was being off with her or anything!

LH1987 · 14/10/2019 12:21

I don’t think I’m going to tell anyone until after 12 weeks, I was considering waiting till 20 but don’t know if it’s possible to conseal it that long!?

Squisha82 · 14/10/2019 12:36

We have talked about telling people but when it's come down to it we'd both feel so much better waiting for the first scan. I am looking into getting an early private scan done at 8 weeks to put our minds more at rest

thosethreewords · 14/10/2019 12:45

@Smiffette that's a good reason to tell them! I'm a GP so I think I will probably tell my colleagues as I'm worried about about some patients with rashes/ illnesses being dangerous for me to see (parvovirus, CMV, flu etc)

@Squisha82 @LH1987 I think I'm going to try and wait too for everyone else!

Smiffette · 14/10/2019 12:48

@thosethreewords I work in a hospital, but not patient facing.
I've had chickenpox so minimal risk but I just feel super anxious after a MMC back in April.

Yes definitely say something sooner rather than later if your seeing patients!

Bearytired · 14/10/2019 18:36

Hi All! Can I join in?! I’m 34, this is my first pregnancy and due 10 June. Am 5+5 today. Absolutely terrified of miscarriage but have had really bad nausea and ridiculous amounts of signs since 3+3 - have gone up two bra sizes already so apparently the more signs the less chance of miscarriage?

Am absolutely exhausted and feeling sick non stop. Anyone else struggling so far? Don’t get me wrong, I’m super happy but when the books say ‘around 6 weeks you may start to get symptoms’ I’m laughing!

MUMOFTWITS · 14/10/2019 19:00

Hello..

Actually cant believe I'm typing this...
Can I join 😅
I think I'm about 4/5 weeks with my.... 3rd🙈 my other children are 8 and 11! And I'm 34.

We wasnt trying but we wasny preventing either, I came off my pill back in September but I think I had an implation bleed on 8th sept making me 5+3 weeks maybe less?!

Omg I'm starting all over again 🙈

BudgieBird · 14/10/2019 19:35

I'm five weeks pregnant, first time, and just found out it's possibly TRIPLETS.

I was on my first cycle of fertility drugs after spending the summer crying over the possibility I would never get pregnant...then my reproductive endocrinologist gave me an ultrasound today and saw two definite yolk sacs, and a possible third. It might be a false sac, he said - but it's too soon to tell. Hopefully we will learn next week. Having twins is scary enough, but I certainly cannot do triplets! The doctor said he would recommend reducing from 3 to 2 if I am indeed pregnant with triplets and I'm dreading having to make that decision.

I'm still in a bit of shock, but TBH, I'm 34 and we wanted two kids so I might as well have them both at once!

Bearytired · 14/10/2019 19:50

Oh wow @BudgieBird that’s awesome but scary! I have no idea when I would find out if I’m preg with multiples - is the ultrasound the usual way to tell? I haven’t got that until end of November!

mouse1234567 · 14/10/2019 20:00

Hi all,

I’m currently 5w1d after my second round of IVF. First round ended in miscarriage at 5w5d so feeling extremely anxious, I see there are lots of other ivf pregnancies on the board. Finding it really hard to manage my anxiety-cannot get at all excited, just expecting it all to end sometime soon. No symptoms -wish i had a few to make me feel pregnant.

Are you all getting symptoms? If so when did they come on? I understand all our bodies are different tho and many friends said they didn’t get symptoms for weeks so I shouldn’t focus too much on them.

My viability scan at my clinic is 7w5d. Just not sure I can wait that long but also don’t want to go and not see a heartbeat and panic myself. Also wondering about HCG repeats bloods, have any of you guys had those? Maybe some of the IVF-ers?

Good luck all,

BudgieBird · 14/10/2019 20:19

@Bearytired Yes, ultrasound is how to find out - my endocrinologist routinely does them early. Without fertility treatment, you typically don't have them for several weeks.

thosethreewords · 14/10/2019 21:26

@Bearytired sore boobs and occasional cramps here. I would quite like boobs that are two sizes bigger...

@BudgieBird wow! Congratulations on your pregnancy but also... maybe triplets! I will have my fingers crossed for you that you don't have to make any horrible decisions.

@mouse1234567 I've seen lots of patients with no symptoms, worrying that they have no symptoms. Everyone is different and like you said, there's a whole spectrum of normal. While I cannot understand how difficult it must be to go through a loss and IVF as you have, I can certainly empathise with not being able to feel excited. I've seen too many things go wrong for me to be able to enjoy it at the moment.
