Good luck @Em39ma! My first section was after an induction that didn’t work. It was fine! So fine that I’m doing it again in a week. I hope it all goes smoothly for you & wishing you the happiest of Sunday’s getting to know your lovely newborn.

@MrsNotNice that’s a brilliant list, thanks for sharing. I had a basket with similar stuff for bf’ing last time. I cleared some space yesterday, so can get a few things sorted today.

My hips are so sore after all the cleaning yesterday! I was planning on getting some more done today, but I’m not sure I can. We cleared a corner of the living room for the Moses basket and it looks so empty! I know if we bring it down though, I’ll come through and find ds has climbed in 🙂

Enjoy your Sunday folks.

Frizzy1986 · 06/10/2019 10:53

@Em39ma thinking of you today. I'm sure it'll all be fine and I hope that the recovery is a good one. It won't be long until you meet your little lady.

@figuringitout Orson was a dream night 1 in hospital and a nightmare for the first night at home. He was awake all night as was I.
He's been a star the past 2 nights though. Having a 15-20 minute feed and then sleeping in his crib for 2 hours. Dd never did that!

Em39ma · 06/10/2019 13:53

An update, not had my section yet!
They suddenly remembered I’m only 38 weeks and the new protocol for any one under 39 weeks is they need steroids. So had one at 10 and having another at 10 tonight. They have let me home for now (yay)
If it was an emergency then they would of just done it, but as she is happy they give them to me so she doesn’t have to struggle to breathe.
Apparently they have found out that it is about a 50/50 for there to be breathing problems, because they don’t have the trauma of birth to trigger the breathing to start.
I hope that makes sense.

Em39ma · 06/10/2019 13:57

And we have also found out since then, that I have backwards facing cervix etc. So it will be impossible for her to come out naturally, the same if I have any others.

HJWT · 06/10/2019 14:24

@Em39ma I was told at an early internal scan that my cervix points towards my back is that the same thing? I had DD naturally x

Em39ma · 06/10/2019 14:59

@HJWT yes that’s it, there are different degrees of tilt. Mine apparently is worse one, so when I had the contractions she was hitting the wall rather than opening she needs.
It also now explains a lot of problems I’ve been complaining about for 26 years. You would of thought after 2 gyne ops they would of worked it out..

HJWT · 06/10/2019 16:41

@Em39ma wow thats amazing, honestly how do some people qualify 🤷🏻‍♀️ x

@Em39ma at least you have got to go home for a while! Are you getting the section tomorrow? I bet you really can't wait now xx

Good luck @Em39ma!

So 38 weeks now! My back is genuinely so bad - I am seriously concerned that it will never be the same again! Also have an awful pressure feeling down below (almost like the pubic bone might snap in half - I appreciate that sounds dramatic but it's the best way I can think of to describe the sensation). Waddled very slowly round Morrison's earlier; it was painful! A week to go to my c section (date confirmed tomorrow) so getting very excited about meeting the little bean now!

Em39ma · 06/10/2019 17:08

Yes going back in tonight at 10 for monitoring and jab.
Then section first thing tomorrow.
@KatnissK yes I was having that type of pressure down there.
Well at least now we know and she will be out safe.

Slinkyreptile · 06/10/2019 17:09

Just wanted to check in and say I’m thinking of everyone. By the sounds of all the nesting and fanny daggers the next baby shouldn’t be far away 😁

Had to share this pic of DD besotted with her little brother.

@MrsNotNice good idea with the box of stuff, I had plenty of big knickers and pads organised but had to nip out today for some haemorrhoid cream as I seem to have what I can only describe as a lovely little bunch of grapes at my bottom 😂🙊 the joys of childbirth

Frizzy1986 · 06/10/2019 18:19

That's good that you got to go home for a bit @Em39ma and it's all so close!!

@slinkyreptile Awww how adorable. Dd is besotted this end too which is really nice.

Ive hit the day 5 emotional plummet 😔 (first timers, please be aware of this. It's a real thing!)

My folks have been up to visit which has been wonderful. They went home today and when they called to say they were back safely I broke down. I just really miss my mum and know if I was closer I'd be able to pop by and say hi and have that emotional and physical support. It's really hit me hard. I've gone from the high of a lovely midwife visiting to the low of feeling so alone here and wanting more than ever to be near my parents.

MIL is lovely but she is not maternal at all (dhs words not mine) She had 2 kids, but she's done with all that.
She's done her parenting so will avoid nappies, crying babies etc. She seems uncomfortable around me feeding ds. My mum however loves them, crying and all. Poonami, she's first to stand up and say ill do it if you need a hand etc.

Em39ma · 06/10/2019 18:52

Yes I’m aware of the day 5 hormone rush.
One of the reasons we staying at my parents house. My MIL hasn’t been around babies for 40 years so doesn’t have that maternal instinct that mine has. My mum was a nanny and a childminder, so has never not had babies etc around.

Slinkyreptile · 06/10/2019 20:31

@Em39ma it’s so exciting how close you are getting, enjoy every single moment. One of the best bits of advice I was given was that in the first few weeks when you are getting used to your life being turned upside down... even just getting up, washed and dressed and the baby being seen to is a successful day. Glad you are getting home for a bit, hopefully help you rest properly (if that’s possible at this stage!)

Slinkyreptile · 06/10/2019 20:37

@Frizzy1986 sorry to hear you’ve reached that stage, it’s horrible and not openly spoken about!
I’m not far away from it, feeling myself getting a bit down, especially with the regular trips into the shower to see to down below. Not had my first post partum number 2 yet either which I worry about and just want it out the way (sorry for yet again TMI)

It’s lovely that you are close to parents and had a nice time with them. I think we have the advantage of remembering what first time round was like and learning from it 😊 at least these babies are born only a matter of weeks away from Xmas so we all have loads to focus on and keep us upbeat

Frizzy1986 · 06/10/2019 20:45

@slinkyreptile yes very true. The distance makes it really hard, but they are coming back to visit in 3 weeks time and my sister is coming next weekend. Think I'm just overly panicked about dh going back to work and not being able to just sit and rest like I did with dd.

Dd is an Xmas baby so I need to think about that. Although I daren't at the moment as in this state I'm already feeling like she doesn't know how much I love her as I'm constantly tending to Orson.

I've had several poos! The laxative meds have been a lifesaver. I'm just trying to do pelvic floors as at the moment I have definite urine leakage, but can seem to hold most of if until I sit in the toilet. Then it all comes out and if I squeeze I am unable to stop any of it.
Midwife checked my scar tissue and said it looks like it is healing really well. It's all the protein dh is making me eat. 😂

cattaxi · 06/10/2019 21:03

Evening! More cleaning & washing done here today. I’m feeling cramps & uncomfortable again tonight. Loose bowels too. I really hope it doesn’t mean anything is imminent.

All the best for tomorrow @Em39ma. Glad you got to go home for a bit. I hope you aren’t too nervous? I’ll be in the same boat next Sunday night waiting for my section. Eek!

@KatnissK my hips feel like they might snap if I get up or move to quickly. Late pregnancy is the worst!

@Slinkyreptile that’s a gorgeous photo! Hope you are doing well. The medication & hyperemesis at the beginning left me horribly constipated. That led to piles. I can really recommend the germaloids suppositories. They were the best things I tried.

Sorry you are feeling blue @frizzy1986. The distance from your mum must be very hard. I’m sure the hormones will be making everything feel a bit worse today. It’s good to have a good cry. But, like everything else in parenthood, remember that this is a stage & it will pass.

I hope everyone has had a good day. Looking forward to more baby news this week 🙂

HarryHarry · 06/10/2019 21:07

@Em39ma So we’ll both be having our sections tomorrow! (Though yours will probably be earlier than mine, I’m in a different time zone). Best of luck with everything!

I’m a bit sad to know that I will never experience a natural birth now. I’ve been having very bad pains at the top of my uterus, right below my ribs, and wondering whether it could be the start of something, but I know it’s probably just wishful thinking.

YorkshireIndie · 06/10/2019 21:26

Looking forward to seeing new baby pictures in the next couple of days.

Had a bit of a emotional moment when the shop did not have the biscuits I wanted and did not have the energy to go to another supermarket - poor DH had to go and get them for me. Then got home to find my brother had already left and felt sad that I had not said good bye.

Need to stand at the moment because I ate too much for dinner and having BH at the same time

cattaxi · 06/10/2019 21:40

Good luck tomorrow @HarryHarry! Don’t feel bad. It’s not about the experience, it’s about getting your baby out in the safest way possible. We are so lucky to have the option of a section when necessary.

@YorkshireIndie not having the right biscuits would be enough to make me cry too.

Frizzy1986 · 06/10/2019 21:51

@harryharry no need to feel bad at all. You aren't missing anything exciting. My whole downstairs is all swollen after being sewn back together which isn't particularly glamorous.

Good luck to everyone for CsS and possible vaginal births heading this way.

HarryHarry · 06/10/2019 22:12

@cattaxi You’re right, thank you for saying that.

Em39ma · 06/10/2019 22:39

All jabbed up. Let me stay home for the night. Back in for 8am.

SC0508 · 06/10/2019 22:49

@Em39ma good luck for tomorrow, not long now till you will get to meet your baby how exciting 😀

I've been experiencing very painful groin area since last night! it's gotten that bad when I go to pee I need to use the radiator and sink as support to lower myself up and down onto toilet seat 😂 OH found this funny until he actually heard me scream with pain then apologised.
Anyone else experienced this pain and have any advice? OH did try massage earlier but that has made no difference 🙁

Em39ma · 06/10/2019 22:59

I’m like that @SC0508.
It the pelvic pain and there head pushing on it, it’s another lovely pregnancy symptom.
I have found anything really to help, lowering slowly is better for me.
