Checking into the wide awake club. Been a hectic day with going to church, finishing emptying the house and then the car breaking down. Long story short ended up with my dad towing the car to the garagewith me in the broken down car. All I can tell you is that is an experience I do not want to repeat!

Baby was good and did not come and is currently having a party. Really glad I am not at work tomorrow!

Em39ma · 30/09/2019 03:32

I’m awake as usual, had a snooze yesterday afternoon at my DM house.
We were getting my old room ready as we are staying there after the baby is here.
DH doesn’t really cook and he worries he will put something I’m allergic to in it without realising.
I’ve got physio this morning, hoping they can pull my leg back into place again before the induction on Wednesday, so it isn’t quite so painful when in labour.

SC0508 · 30/09/2019 03:54

I've been awake since yesterday morning at 7:30, tried sleeping tonight so badly but I think I am having contractions! Everything is going tight every 10 minutes causing me to work up a sweat too but no sign of waters breaking or anything.

Feeling really nervous as I am only 36+5 weeks.

Frizzy1986 · 30/09/2019 05:13

@SC0508 how are you going? You could have a few days of stop start before it really gets going. Are they really painful or is it just tightening and relaxing?
Keep an eye on them and if they are painful and get closer together then start timing them.
Try to rest as much as you can and not work up a sweat, but you'll need the energy if it's the real deal. And waters can go right at the end so might not go until you are in active labour.
36+5 isn't bad at all. I doubt there will be much concern for baby being ok, it just might restrict your birth options dependant on your hospital policy as you are before "full term"

@Em39ma at least you got a bit of sleep in the day and good that you have physio. Hopefully they'll be able to provide some relief before Wednesday.

@YorkshireIndie sounds like an eventful day. Glad baby didn't decide to appear mid-tow. That would've been a hell of a story.

My leftside hip has really given me issues tonight. I've been waking up constantly and it's been hurting more than ever before. I feel I want to rip my leg off and stick it back on.
Bump is constantly tightening on and off as usual. Do you think it's def braxton hicks or could baby still be moving round and flipping transverse? When the bump goes hard I can't feel baby move at all as it kind of numbs my feeling of it, but if I push my hands on it, I can feel baby move underneath the hardness.
I wish I could tell what was what in there so I knew if baby was still where it was supposed to be.

I had a bit of a breakdown before bed last night. I've just had enough. Ive not cried so much in a long time. Think it caught dh a bit off guard, but I think it made him realise just how tough this part is. I feel less emotional today, but don't feel I can cope another 2 weeks.

SC0508 · 30/09/2019 07:05

@Frizzy1986 I am doing ok really tired managed to sleep for 2 hrs then awake again with the pains.

When they tightening they are really painful and sharp but only last about 30 seconds, going to keep an eye on timings throughout the day.

Really hoping I make it to 37weeks as am sure my local hospital policy on water birth are you have to be "full term"

Hope everyone else got a better sleep 😀

SRK16 · 30/09/2019 07:14

Hello, just to update you that our little boy was born on Saturday morning, ELCS. He is 8lbs 8oz and is gorgeous, totally in love with him. It’s been an exhausting whirlwind!
Not sure if there is a September/October post natal thread, if there is I will see you guys over there (if there isn’t maybe I’ll start one!)
Good luck with the ends of your pregnancies and deliveries xx

SC0508 · 30/09/2019 07:20

@SRK16 congratulations 🎉 hope everything goes well for you and baby 😀

Frizzy1986 · 30/09/2019 07:32

@srk16 congratulations that's wonderful news.

@SC0508 our hospital has set policies. If you haven't reached 37 weeks you can't use the birth centre, but not sure on their water birth stance as there are pools within delivery ward so I don't know if it depends on whether they need to monitor baby or not. I guess they have to have a cut off at some point so people have a procedure to follow.
Def keep monitoring them and if they get closer and closer together then it's likely it. Is it 3 in a 10 min period lasting at least 45 seconds that means active labour and get to hospital.

SC0508 · 30/09/2019 07:36

@Frizzy1986 am not too sure on my hospital policies my midwife hasn't talked over any of that or my birth plan really! She's not been the greatest.

Yeah I am sure that is the correct timings am sure I will know when the time comes 😂 hoping once I put DS to school that I can come home and try get some more sleep as I feel like a zombie today ☹️

Frizzy1986 · 30/09/2019 07:55

@SC0508 do you have a midwife number you can call with questions. We have access to the community midwife team who are always on hand to help with random things (like my question of is it bad that I'm so swollen down there! Which I called to ask in a walk in cupboard at work as we don't have any private areas)
Can just call and ask what the hospital policies are if it worries you. Tell your body to hold off for 2 days!!
Definitely rest as much as you can, and eat. I didn't have time to eat when mine kicked off last time and then I had surgery so wasn't allowed to eat.

secretlyhermione · 30/09/2019 08:28

@srk16 congratulations such wonderful news!

Has any of you ladies started eating dates? I read a study yesterday that apparently eating three dates a day from around 36 weeks softens your cervix. I'm going to start today (37+4) figure anything could help!!

Maryrobinson81 · 30/09/2019 08:58

Congratulations @SRK16!

I have read about dates too, might get some, I’m going to start the evening promise oil capsules too, 38 weeks today. I’m feeling like whilst i don’t want to go overdue I also want a good week or so get some more jobs done!
I have a pregnancy massage booked for tomorrow, I can not wait.
I’d love a water birth this time, With each of my previous births I have arrived and given birth in 30 mins to 1 hr, so no time to fill it. My last stage of labour seems to go really fast, so I going to ask midwife at what point she thinks I should go in. But also is it best to be at home as long as possible, hard to guess! All my 3 were born in Bolton in the birth centre there, but we have moved to cornwall since, so there is different travel times to think about, and I haven’t actually seen the birth centre here. It’s part of the main hospitals maternity wing.

Positivity86 · 30/09/2019 08:58

@SRK16 congratulations! Lovely news to start the week and I hope you are both doing well 😊

@secretlyhermione I've not started eating dates yet but was going to when I hit 37 weeks on Wednesday. I figure It can't hurt!

@SC0508 sounds promising and could be early labour. Try and rest as much as possible if you can

We are having a tour this morning of the birth centre we are hoping to go to, they don't let you check it out until at least 36 weeks. I feel so fatigued even though I slept pretty well for a change! Being a passenger in the car is making me feel sick for some reason.

Figuringitout · 30/09/2019 09:02

Congratulations @SRK16 and good luck @SC0508 - hope it is the start of something for you, but that the baby hangs on until 37 weeks so you get your water birth.
It’s my due date today. I am trying so hard to think of it as a ‘due from’ date and look forward to welcoming my baby but like @Frizzy1986 the thought of another 2 weeks is a little daunting.
I keep getting period type pains, but they don’t last and there is nothing else to suggest that baby is getting ready to put in an appearance! However, my second baby gave me zero indication that labour was about to begin and came quickly and easily - so here’s hoping this one will be the same!
I’m planning on a long walk, some floor scrubbing and a nap today - whilst also trying to repeat the mantra, ‘my baby will be born when it is ready!’
Hope you all have a good day.

SC0508 · 30/09/2019 09:07

Just back from dropping DS off at school, really hating the "oh you look so fed up" and "oh not long now" conversations other parents are trying to have with me whilst I am trying to hide the pain I am in 😂.

Have crawled back into bed and the pain has gotten worse really hoping to get some sleep just incase it is promising, I want to have as much energy as I can as this pregnancy definitely different to first 😂 first labour was a walk in the park can't see this one being the same.

Frizzy1986 · 30/09/2019 09:49

@figuringitout I feel for you. I'm "due" tomorrow. Doesn't help that dd seems sure that it means baby will come tomorrow.
I've got no signs either. Occasional cramps, but think that's linked more to my bowels than baby. I guess I should know more on Wednesday at the midwife.

@Maryrobinson81 I asked my midwife about when I should go in as my active labour was less than 2 hours and I hear they get quicker. She said she couldn't really help as there's no knowing. She told me the hospital I'm at keep you for an hour after checking even if you aren't the required dilation because they do know some people go from 0-10 fast and they don't want to send someone home in error.
But just to watch for long contractions and I have to use my own judgement.

I can't stand dates. I've got raspberry leaf capsules though so it's something. And have purchased a pineapple 😂

HJWT · 30/09/2019 10:24

@Frizzy1986 Iv bought another pineapple today! Will probably eat that tomorrow as I had some last night 😂

Id love to have baby early but I am hoping doing all this will lead to a better birth than last time more than anything!

I JUST WANT THE BABY OUT SO I CAN LOOK ROUND CHRISTMAS SHOPS!!! 😂 i cant walk round anymore I get really dizzy & feel sick.

AngeIoMysterioso · 30/09/2019 11:30

Many congrats @SRK16!! Hope you’re recovering well.

Think I’m gonna jump on the raspberry leaf bandwagon... I’m 36+5 today so might do tea and capsules for maximum effect! Anyone got any brand recommendations?

userabcname · 30/09/2019 12:32

Congratulations @SRK16!!
Quick question if you've had an ELCS - in the info pack I've been given it says to leave all bags and belongings in the car until you've been admitted to the post-natal ward following the op. That's fine but then it also says to make sure you have a nappy and clothes for the baby and they advise taking a sports drink to sip in recovery. So does that mean you can take a small bag in? Or does husband nip to the car at some point when you're being stitched up and grab it?? Also it says that you can shave down to the pubic bone prior to the op but then it says to shower before going in but please don't shave the area that will be operated on?!! There's some seriously conflicting info going on!

cattaxi · 30/09/2019 12:55

Good afternoon. Another bad nights sleep here. My brain went into overdrive & I couldn’t stop talking to dh about all sorts of crap until the early hours. We are both shattered today.

@MrsNotNice I do wonder how it works with tandem feeding & the nipple stimulation bringing on labour. If it really worked, everyone would be doing it.
I had a squeeze last night and a tiny bit of colostrum came out. Not enough to harvest though. I might try with the pump tomorrow.

Hope your car is easily fixable @YorkshireIndie. We don’t need big coats as we go on mat leave! Our boiler is on the blink & i’m praying it’s not an expensive issue.

Hope the physio was helpful @Em39ma.

Hope you are ok @SC0508? I am so over those conversations at the school gate. One mum goes “still waddling” to me every day 🤬
I had to vomit on the walk back from school this morning too! Classy!

Hope you’re feeling better today @Frizzy1986. A decent cry is good for you.

Congratulations @SRK16! I’d love to hear how your elective went if you feel like sharing. Mine is 2 weeks today and I’m getting nervous.

I’ve not had any info about my elective yet @KatnissK. It sounds like you should be ok to take in a little bag with clothes for the baby. I don’t have my pre-op until the 11th, so hoping to get all the info then.

Hope everyone else is ok? I’m going to try to have a power nap before I head off to the dentist. I dread to think what kind of state my teeth are in after all the puking!

SC0508 · 30/09/2019 13:09

Managed to get a 3hr nap this morning and it felt so good don't feel as much of a zombie now 😂.

Dreading picking up DS as I know all the mums will be asking me oh it's not happened today then, I feel so rude but the amount of times I've just had to walk away lately as I just don't wanna hear it 😂

YorkshireIndie · 30/09/2019 14:50

@cattaxi I know what you mean. Sometimes I think things wait until the worse time and then break.

Congratulations @SRK16

Just pretend not to hear them @SC0508. Sounds like they are running out of things to say

We completed on the house sale today and I thought we would stop getting the same questions from the buyer but they managed to sneak two in when they went to pick up the keys. Will be recommending that they keep a list of questions asked by buyers to stop the same ones being asked repeatedly.

Got my strep B test results back and they are negative!

Frizzy1986 · 30/09/2019 15:05

@YorkshireIndie oh that's good news about the strep B. Im never sure why that test isn't standard when you get to 36 weeks or something. I know it can come and go, but considering most issues relating to it occur because no one knew the mum had it, it seems silly not to routinely test.
And yay on the house as well.

@SC0508 it's rubbish isn't it. I wish I had the personality type to sarcastically turn around and say "does it look like anything has happened today, do I have a baby. Clearly I've left the newborn at home and have shoved a beach ball up my top as I missed the discomfort that it gave me"

@cattaxi I'm feeling less emotional today. Still frustrated as still not a whimper of anything. Totally different from last time and I don't like it.

Im just sat in the car outside school waiting to collect dd. Today has gone quite fast. After my Morrisons trip for pineapple, I watched a film on TV, had lunch, walked the dog to the end of the road and back, and then decided to sweep and hand wash all the floors again and hoover downstairs.
I'm crazy, as I know it'll kill my hips, but I can't sit around all day and I know it can help get baby into position and as it's still bobbing around in there, anything has to help right?!
Need to empty the dishwasher later. Dh could do it, but he forgets and then things pile up on the side as there's no where to put them. I don't feel I should have to ask him as it's one of his chores and considering he hasn't had to wash up, sweep, mop or hoover (his other chores) for the last few weeks he should be able to do the ones that are left.

YorkshireIndie · 30/09/2019 15:16

@Frizzy1986 I paid for the test. I work in healthcare and know how poorly babies can get. I think you should play the waiting game until your DH does the dishwasher.

SunshineSophia · 30/09/2019 16:00

Congratulations @SRK16!! Enjoy all the mummy cuddles ❤❤
