@srk16 oh it was hilarious. The nurses were just chatting away across me as I led in the operating theatre, legs akimbo, enjoying the view of the surgeon in his zoom lenses with his head between my legs.
Once you've been through that, it makes any future births seem easy as I know they literally do see it all so it's silly worrying about what it all looks like.
I'm 39+2 today 😔 and I don't think I can last much longer.

HJWT · 26/09/2019 21:24

@Frizzy1986 My sister was stitched with full bush and she was fine! Don't think her bush has ever seen a razor tbh 😂 I just have a weird fear with it! Last time the doctors were both so lovely once they got the bleed under control they put a few stitches in to help it not sting as much (didn't work) and I remember one of them asking for their hand back so she could help the other doctor, I was so high of the gas I didn't even know I was holding her hand 😝

My gosh come in half way through this conversation and can’t stop giggling.
I will definitely be in full bush, I can barely reach to wipe let alone shave down there.
My hip and pelvic pain haven’t stop at all today. I don’t normally get much unless I’m trying to sleep.
For someone who as been awake since 2.30am I’m now not tired.
I think there’s some sort of dust that hits you as you walk up the stairs. Downstairs could barely keep my eyes open.
Moved back into our room today. Tomorrow last minute bag bits.

SC0508 · 26/09/2019 21:41

@HJWT I can relate to the pain you are experiencing down below! I am currently leaning over my kitchen counter rocking my hips and bum back and fourth to try ease the pain in my lower back, vagina area and bum.

Tried eating my tea tonight but just couldn't eat as pain was too much, I thought I may of just needed the toilet (tmi I know) but it's not happening think I am constipated again!

Have tried bouncing on my ball aswell but I found it was just too painful 🙁 really not feeling great tonight not sure if it's maybe down to stress or not as today has been a horrible day 🙁

Figuringitout · 26/09/2019 22:09

I’ve been bouncing on my ball this evening in the hope of getting things moving a little. I’ve also been into work today and finished off pretty much everything, plus got the final few baby bits sorted (bar setting up the crib, but that won’t take long) so feeling more chilled now.
Got niggly backache still, but not convinced it will turn into anything. I’m going to add some clary sage to my bath and then see if DH is up for the old tried and tested method of getting things going!!
However, still feeling a little sad that this will be my last ever bump and a little apprehensive about the crazy days ahead so not too worried if baby doesn’t show until next week.

cattaxi · 26/09/2019 22:15

Laughing at the bush convos! I’m rocking the full 70’s vibe. I’m only 5ft and my bump is off the chart, so not much hope of reaching anything with a trimmer 🌲 (although, I can still touch my toes, which freaks dh out as he can’t do it!) If this baby does try and come out vaginally, he better bring a detangling brush!

My hips feel weird tonight. A bit like they are grinding. It’s a bit disconcerting, because all my contractions with ds felt like they were in my hips.

MrsNotNice · 26/09/2019 22:18

So I got my raspberry tea and I’m 37+6 now. I’m pretty late for it. Do I take 1 pill a day and then increase in few days? What do you think ? It’s 1500mg. I want it to tone my uterus muscles but I’m worried it’s too late.

Secondly, this is my second pregnancy. Is there after pains ??

SamStephens · 26/09/2019 23:42

Thanks all, we got home late on Tuesday evening and I’ve been trying to settle into life with 3 under 3 (while also living with MIL and SIL) but little miss is sleeping for 6hr stints like a trooper so my days are kind of boring.. at least until the older two finish daycare at the end of next week, lord help me!

@MrsNotNice after pains are very much real and get worse every subsequent pregnancy unfortunately.. I’m on day 6 post birth and they’ve only just stopped, I was having Panadol/nurofen every 4 hours until today and now I just ache as if I’ve been running up and down stairs non stop.

Em39ma · 27/09/2019 02:42

Well as usual I’m awake. I didn’t think my hip and pelvic could get much worse, apparently I was wrong. I’m in agony tonight.
The pain of just getting out of bed or trying to sit on toilet is not good.

SC0508 · 27/09/2019 07:11

Has anyone experienced what they thought was contractions then woke up next morning to nothing?

I was in so much pain down below last night and throughout the night until around 3am then afterwards I woke up with nothing but pains in my bump from being so heavy and turning too quick, really struggling to walk as everything just feels so heavy and pushed down.

userabcname · 27/09/2019 07:25

I'm 37 weeks today, woo!! My back is KILLING me - I think this baby has officially destroyed it!
Lol at the bush talk - I hadn't even shaved my legs when I had DS! I really cba with hair removal at the best of times, let alone when heavily pregnant. I've been told they will shave down to my pubic bone for the c section or I can do it at home beforehand so I have ordered a bikini line trimmer/razor but whether or not I will actually be able to see what's going on is another matter!

Feeling very happy I'm into my last 2 weeks and also very emotional - I keep crying at stupid things (like adverts) so that's annoying. And hospital bags are officially done - my bamboo breast pads arrived yesterday and I also got some snacks that I've chucked in as well. I'm as ready as I'll ever be!

YorkshireIndie · 27/09/2019 07:35

Morning everyone! Started to make a stab at packing my hospital bag last night. Baby has all the items he or she needs if they decide to come now but I would just have to wing it 😂

HJWT · 27/09/2019 07:50

@MrsNotNice what does it say on the bottle? Mine say to take 2 with food, iv been doing that for about a week now, also hoping it tones my uterus so I don't bleed bad after. Would be lovely to go home after a few hours I know I am going to really miss DD, iv only spent 1 night away from her in 3 years 😪

Its a miracle that DH & DD have let me have a lie in !! Normally she refuses to go downstairs without me so I am winning today! haha xx

@sco0508 it's highly possible for labour to be very stop start at the beginning.
With my first I would have cramps (which weren't painful, but very very uncomfortable) on and off for about 2 days before it got worse. When I say on and off, I mean maybe 20 mins of discomfort followed by hours of nothing.
Then one night they were much more painful and didn't stop (but not regular or in any form of pattern hence why I thought they were braxton hicks, as I hadn't had any BH so didn't really know any better)

I've got a feeling that a few of you could be getting close with all these on and off pains. Excited for you all as well as completely jealous.
I had a few cramps before taking dd to school yesterday, but then nothing at all. I did a lot of ball bouncing and hip rolling to try and encourage it but nope. Baby just doesn't want to budge. It's just gone back to the relentless BH. I did have the weirdest birth dream ever last night though.

I find it so funny that although people know that labour will not be a walk in the park and will hurt like hell, a lot of us are still so desperate for it to start. Think it shows how much hard work being pregnant is in that we would prefer to be in utter agony giving birth.

@KatnissK woop for 37 weeks. Glad you are feeling a bit more prepped now. I think I must only have around 2 weeks left as I think the standard here is going 12 days over and I'm 39+3 today.

@Em39ma sorry you've had another rough night. Sucks that the pain is getting worse for you. At least it should miraculously disappear when baby is here. Are you able to nap in the day, do you find the sofa more comfortable?

Frizzy1986 · 27/09/2019 08:05

That should have been @SC0508 why my phone auto corrects on something like that I have no idea!

SC0508 · 27/09/2019 08:09

@Frizzy1986 with my first it all happened so quick, I woke up on my due date and waters broke and it all started from there not a sign of anything before that so this time feels completely different.

The pains seemed to have been every 10 mins last night and would last over a minute but nothing today so guess baby isn't quite ready to come just yet 😂 still got a lot of tightening when I go pee and feel something is gonna fall out 😂

Frizzy1986 · 27/09/2019 08:14

@SC0508 I think if you've laboured before, you automatically prepare and plan as if it will be the same next time, as its all you know, and why wouldn't your body just do what it did before. I'm trying to keep in mind that it could be completely different though so prepare for the unexpected.

Hopefully it will turn into something for you. Just keep an eye on it in case it ramps up quickly.

SC0508 · 27/09/2019 08:22

Ye@Frizzy1986 yeah this whole pregnancy has been completely different this time around, I am definitely bigger this time around which makes me nervous as DS was 7lb when born so hope this is mainly fluid 😂.

Off to visit mum at hospital today after DS is at school so I guess I am in the right area if anything happens as maternity ward is just the next building 😂😂

Figuringitout · 27/09/2019 08:47

I was also awake in the night with period-like cramping. Not enough to make me feel, ‘oh, this might be it’ but too uncomfortable to sleep. Gah. Going back to bed for a bit today.
I bought ‘The Positive Birth Company’ digital hypnobirthing pack - they had a flash sale the other day and so I thought I’d give it a try. It’s interesting but linking to what @Frizzy1986 said, the course leader keeps talking about how birth is not meant to be painful and it’s fear causing tension (and adrenaline) which then causes pain. I have to say I’m not completely convinced about that! The breathing techniques are pretty good though and there’s an app that goes with it to help time contractions. Anyone else doing / have done anything like this?

SRK16 · 27/09/2019 08:49

Had a really shit sleep. Couldn’t doze off as was over thinking then woke up every hour to wee or in pain. Have woken up with horrible cramps :(

Em39ma · 27/09/2019 08:52

@Frizzy1986 I am more comfortable on the sofa, but as we have Labrador puppy she insists on lying with me if I let her in the lounge or crying if leave her in the kitchen because I’m in out of the every hour to get to the toilet.

Frizzy1986 · 27/09/2019 09:05

@figuringitout I've got that pack.

I've found it quite useful to learn more about the hormonal aspects with adrenaline. I think that's why I tore last time. I panicked, so was full of adrenaline and went too hard and too fast, properly pushing like I thought you were supposed to.
I used the "down breathing" to help shift a difficult poo the other day and found I wasn't straining anywhere near as much.

I'll be honest that I'm not buying into the "shouldn't/won't be painful" aspect though. I think it will still hurt a lot, but that the breathing techniques will help me to focus and make my body more effective and also help to get through each contraction by making it seem shorter therefore coming away feeling positive. I do suffer from anxiety though, which probably has something to do with it. I've got one of those adult colouring books to help destress, but it stresses me out as I am constantly questioning if I'm using the right colour and should this bit have a more regular colour pattern etc. Not quite the point of it.
I like listening to the downloadable tracks as they really relax me and often send me to sleep.

Hope my "hurts like hell" comment doesn't scare anyone. Sorry if it did, I didn't mean for it to.
It's definitely a pain with a purpose and I think focusing on that end goal means you can get through it (although if you feel you can't, then take all the drugs you want as it doesn't mean you didn't succeed)
I'm a weakling and got to 6cm without any pain relief and only had gas and air for about 45 mins before dd popped out. If I can make it, then it's possible for anyone.

Slinkyreptile · 27/09/2019 10:08

@Frizzy1986 to be honest I don’t think there’s anything wrong with telling people it will hurt like hell. With the birth of DD I tried to get an epidural but I was already high on gas and air and couldn’t keep still so it didn’t work. As a result I gave birth purely on gas and air. To say it hurt like hell is an understatement! But as you say it’s with a purpose, and no matter how much pain you are in you know that each contraction is bringing the baby closer. Before I had DD I kind of wish I knew it was going to hurt like it did, I think mentally it would have helped me. Just like discussing after pains has helped me this time round as mentally I can process it if that makes sense

SunshineSophia · 27/09/2019 11:15

Ha! Joined the convo at such a great moment 😂😂 I have to admit I went for a wax earlier this week in the hopes baby will be here soon... I've worked out that if baby goes overdue I'll likely need another wax before they finally make their appearance 😭😭😭

@Frizzy1986 - just seen the pic of your bump and it could easily be me! I'm 38+2, bump measuring big and baby's head still not engaged. I'm ready for this baby to come out now, not sure how much longer I can take! 😭😭

I'm on all fours, on the ball and just been told to walk upstairs sideways. Anything else to get this baby engaged???

SunshineSophia · 27/09/2019 11:18

@samstephens how's LO doing? How is it with MIL and SIL? Are they letting you get on with it or is MIL trying to interfere?
