I'm 33+1 and I don't reckon this LO will turn!

Will keep you updated

Dal, thanks and back for friday. I'm having it done in the afternoon as my consultant has antenatal clinic in the morning, so I don't have to go in until late morning.
I'm already in a hyperactive running around squealing mood now so I'll be a nightmare in the morning! I don't know how I'm going to sleep tonight!
AAAARGHHHH! Responsibility and parenthood here I come!

JayJ · 05/09/2007 18:17

Thanks for that info Mrs Fish, feeling a bit gutted because baby was head down up until this week but has just decided to lie sideways now.

Thanks again

Jay

dal21 · 05/09/2007 19:02

Holly - yes one tube is enough.

Bex - I know what you mean. My BF has just left - she is soo excited for me and I think it is starting to sink in. I am beginnning to experience real emotional swings. Mum is packing her bag and coming down tomorrow. My brother (who NEVER calls) is calling twice daily to see how I am doing. I felt a little overwhelmed earlier - had a little cry and felt better.

JJ - hope the baby turns back for you!

Alfie72 · 06/09/2007 10:49

Hey Dal, Hope you are ok. I too have been a bit topsy turvy this week too cos of all the decision making.

I'll be thinking of you and sending you lots of good happy thoughts.

Well fellow breech watchers, I too am booked in for an elective C section on 24th September. The LO is a flexed breech and his/ her feet are dangling in my pelvis. The dr was fab who I saw today and didn't try and sway me any direction.

I feel a bit apprehensive -it being major surgery and all but pleased I at least have a plan and I am so escitecd to meet my LO.

Bye for now !!

Holly29 · 06/09/2007 13:07

Dal, I hope you're OK! I am sending you all my positive thoughts... and I just know that 2 weeks from now I will be feeling just the same. Look after yourself. x

Alfie, so pleased that you have a date - it kind of helps to get one, doesn't it? Even if it's not what you would have wanted, it's fab to have some certainty. you are just 4 days after me, if I can post soon after I will leave some tips!

Jay, don't worry, your baby still has time to turn. Do you want me to send you some moxa sticks? I have quite a few left over and will send them for free.

fettleandminifettle · 06/09/2007 13:33

Good luck for tomorrow Dal!!!

Hope everyone else is doing well - although i'm pleased my little one is staying firmly head down, in a way it must be quite nice to "know" when your little ones are going to arrive!

Big hugs and turning vibes to everyone!!

MrsFish · 06/09/2007 15:24

Good afternoon all. Well I saw the mw this morning, and... lo had moved and she now thinks he is head down, with back and bum on my right hand side, and legs stretching right over the top of my bump to the left hand side so no cs talk at the moment. She has said that he seems like a right fidgit so he may turn again, but for the moment all is well and I am to see her in two weeks time. Phew, at least I know now... I was looking forward to having another scan tho Also my iron levels are back up to 11.4 from 9.4 so that's good too

MrsF 36+4

Dal - sending you many happy vibes for tomorrow, good luck

horace · 06/09/2007 16:24

Holly29 · 06/09/2007 17:45

Mrsfish

Great news! Best of luck to Horace too.

Dal, I'm not sure if you will be checking on here again before tomorrow, but I just wanted to say good luck and text me as soon as you can, we will be thinking of you. I have already decided to have a large glass of wine the night before mine to help me sleep! I am sending you lots of positive vibes, it will all be fine and over before you know it. Just think, this time tomorrow you'll be holding your wee one!

Much love, Holly. x

JayJ · 06/09/2007 18:25

Hi Holly29, sorry if this sounds totally thick but what are Moxa Sticks?

Mrs Fish, that is great news!

Jay

emj23 · 06/09/2007 18:43

Good luck Dal!

I shall be finding out tomorrow morning if LO has turned of her own accord, I will still have to go to my hospital appt on Thurday even if she has, but fingers crossed!

Hope you're all feeling well.

Alfie72 · 06/09/2007 18:45

Jay- Moxa sticks are a home treatment for acupuncture and are made of chinese moss and you burn them next to an acupuncture point on your little toes.
They are used in acupuncture in a treatment called moxibustion- it helps the baby turn around in 80% of cases. Unfortuantely I was in the 20% it didn't help but orther people have told me it's great. You have to start at week 34- 35 for good effect. Acupuncture is fantastic, highly recommend it. I go for tune ups to help my low energy levels in pregnancy. Some midwives are also acupuncturists and most M/w I have spoken to advocate it.

Alfie72 · 06/09/2007 18:54

Ooops, apologies for the spelling mistakes in my last message.
Re- the Moxibustion, here's a website to check out:

dal21 · 06/09/2007 19:09

Hi guys - popping on real quick. Thank you all for your messages of support. Have stayed busy today - got my hair done (very important), picked up some lovely champers to take in with us (even more important). Saw my midwife this afternoon and since I have left the hospital - am feeling nothing but excitement - hoping the nerves stay away now.
We have to be at the hospital for 7.30 - 8ish tmrw morning and am booked in between 9.30-10, so am hoping that time slot goes ahead and I dont get bumped for an emergency as not eating/drinking makes me VERY grumpy. Still dont understand if they insert a catheter - why it means you cannot drink water from 4am onwards....hmm, can have little sips but that is it.
Anyhows, once again thank you all for your support.

Hopeitwontbebig · 07/09/2007 09:30

Good luck today dal x x x x x

emj23, good luck with your appointment today, hope LO has turned. x

Morning all. I had my appt, LO is still breech and I apparently now have a UTI as well, protein and leucocytes found in sample. I'm a bit fed up. I'm nervous about ECV on Thursday and if it doesn't work I just know they'll try to make me give birth naturally anyway and the idea completely freaks me out. My MW tried to stress how amazing and beautiful breech deliveries can be but frankly, I don't want my bits to have to stretch that much.

Sorry for complaininess, I was just really hoping she'd have turned on her own.

Hope everything's going better for everyone else.

MrsFish · 07/09/2007 11:37

Sorry your lo hasn't turned emj But there is still time. Mine was moving around so much last night it could be in a totally different position again by now, not seeing mw for another 2 weeks now either

Holly29 · 07/09/2007 12:21

Emj23,

Just don't let them pressure you! Have you had a scan? After I had my scan they decided that there was no way that ECV would work and no way that the baby was in the right position where a natural delivery could be tried. If you are not happy, then ask for a c-section - most people do take the view now that c-sections are appropriate if the baby is breech unless YOU want to go for a natural birth.

prettybird · 07/09/2007 12:37

I'm sure if the baby is still breech and you are really not happy with the idea of a natural birth, then you can push for a CS.

I know at my maternity hospital they apparently stopped a study mid proeject where they were investigating letting breech babies be born naturally rather than assuming c-sections, as there had been too many adverse outcomes. They wouldn't have done that unless it was a serious risk.

ANd I'm speaking as someone who is normally anti c-sections.

Holly29 · 07/09/2007 13:21

Update

Dal 21 has had her baby! I just got a text from her which says that he was born this morning at 8.55am this morning, 5lbs 1 oz and that both she and baby are great. No name as yet I think.

toadstool · 07/09/2007 15:42

Congratulations, Dal!

Hopeitwontbebig · 07/09/2007 16:30

Congrats Dal x x x x

Hi all. I had an appointment with the private obstetrician who'll be performing my cs on the 17th. Must admit I've come home feeling a bit flat. He was quite anti caesarean. He said what he would have suggested to me was an ECV (he said his success rate is 60%), then induce me at 38 weeks because of predicted big baby. Obviously, it's getting a bit late to make that decision as I'm 38 weeks in 2 days. But he was looking at me as if to say, the option's still there if you want to take it. BUT he then said there is no guarantee that giving birth naturally would protect my bladder from all the problems I had after having DS2 (basically I felt like I was constantly busting for a wee for 4 years solid, ended up having 4 operations to investigate). SO he said we'd stick to the original plan, even though, again a cs cannot guarantee no damage is done to my bladder. I'm a bit all over the place, I had totally got my head around having a cs, now I feel like I need to get my head round it again. Anyway, he scanned me quickly to check baby's position, and she's still very much breech. Sorry for long moan.

Holly29 · 07/09/2007 16:49

Hopey,

He sounds RUBBISH. Don't you worry. Ultimately, the decision is yours and it doesn't sound like his options are particularly useful (too late) or helpful (er, your baby is breech). Just stick with what feels right and don't let him make you question yourself. Ultimately he cannot guarantee that you won't have to have a c-section if it doesn't work - and my view is better a planned one than a crash one.

i totally understand though - when so called experts tell you something, it does make you wonder and question and doubt all the careful thinking you have done. My advice is stick to what you think is right...

Much love and positive vibes. x

fettleandminifettle · 07/09/2007 17:09

Hopey i'm sorry you had an unsatisfactory appointment today - doesn't sound too sympathetic. You are having your baby very soon now - so you concentrate on that wonderful thing and try not to worry too much about him today. I'm sure he'll lovely on the day of the actual operation.

take care

Congratulations to Dal!! Glad all went well.
