@ELW85, excellent shout on the Hotel Chocolate 😋 And very organised that you've started looking at Christmas shopping! I might try and get mine done for about November time, don't fancy tackling the crowds in Dec when I'm due early Jan is good idea 😂

@MrsEG, you've got time! Baby shopping is exciting but daunting! Xx

Speaking of... After a bit of help if I can ladies! We're putting up the bedside crib that my friend got us. It's a good one, quite sturdy looking (providing we put it together properly!!) The width and length are a good fit for beside the bed, but... Not sure it's going to be high enough. I know we need to get a mattress on, but their bed was lower than ours and I'm just not sure if baby will be too low down?? Stupid question probably, but are they meant to be about level with you? It's not one that attaches on, it's just a little wooden crib that goes next to the bed. What do you guys think? I'll happily buy new if we need to for safety but if it's just a matter of preference, would it be worth trying this one and just seeing how we go? Xxx

@Fivebyfive2 Do they still have the instructions, or can you download them/find them online? I’d be checking the manufacturer instructions/guidance for sure, to make sure it is all safe and well. I know Chicco ones are height adjustable to make sure they are level with your bed but I’ve no idea on the official guidance on it!

Yes, very daunting! I just want it all done by 1 Dec as that’s when my consultant thinks it’s gonna be ‘feet up’ time (her words!) for me so if I can get as much done now, I will!

@MrsEG @Fivebyfive2 - I felt I had to with the choccie; it’s the last of Peaky Blinders tonight so I’ll need some comfort to get me through it I think, haha!
Christmas shopping is awesome, and I’m very excited for ordering the food already (as sad as that may be). It looks like all of the stores are launching Christmas from 25/09, so probably a decent time to have a browse.

@MrsEG - ah that’s a shame that your furniture was expensive. Is it somewhere that might have online deals or vouchers?

@Fivebyfive2 - I’m definitely not an expert but I think unless it’s a co-sleeper, they don’t have to be the same height as you?

@MrsEG, no instructions, but I know it's from Mothercare (label on the bottom!) so we could pop into the shop and ask about it. Xx

@Fivebyfive2 Oh I’m sure Mothercare would help for sure! Yeah pop in or drop them an email :)

@ELW85 Part of me wants to wait for Black Friday in November but the organised me wants to have it sorted much earlier! So, so excited for Peaky Blinders tonight and hoping I stay awake for it! The last two weeks I’ve had to watch it over breakfast on Monday morning 🙈

Fivebyfive2 · 22/09/2019 17:30

@MrsEG, so I found the instructions online and there are some fixings missing... That paired with the height question has left us both thinking we might just tell my friend 'thanks so much, but it is not the right fit for us' and letting them know bits are missing incase they go to use it later on. Do you think that's OK?? Even dh has said he'd rather be safe and get one from elsewhere. I've got a discount code for a snuz-pod... Still expensive, but we've saved so much with offers/hand downs/gifts, it would be the only 'luxury' item we'd be splashing out on. It will fit, has adjustable heights, rocks, has reflux tilts and comes with a mattress. Might shop around a little anyway, in case we see a better option. Also, I don't blame you for being torn on the Black Friday issue. The thought of getting a deal is sooooo tempting, but also get that it it's possibly cutting it fine 🤔 Decisions, decisions!! Xxx

@Fivebyfive2 I think that’s fine - if I were you I would do the exact same! Like you, we’re trying to get as much handed down or on resale websites as much as we can but I still bought the pram new and will for furniture as I want to be safe and sure it’s never been damaged etc. And if you have a voucher well then surely that’s just fate!! I’ve even managed to get two car seats free now from my sister and friend, so I know they’ve never been in accidents etc.
It really is - I think as the latest I’ll go is 1 Feb I see Jan as a write off really ‘just in case’ I were to go in to labour, so only ordering furniture at the very end of November seems way too close to the wire!!

@MrsEG - Black Friday is always a good shout to be fair!
I usually watch it in bed and force myself to stay awake but want to stay properly up this week. I have no idea how they’re going to tie the loose ends up?!

Report
MrsEG · 22/09/2019 17:47

@ELW85 Me either!! I can't wait to see how it all ends up - DH has some theories but I have none! A lot of tonight's episode was filmed outside the old plaza/cinema right near my house too! I was working those days (booo!) but my sister was still on mat leave so took her daughter along and Cillian gave my niece a little wave haha! Claim to fame forever!

Hi all! Have had a brilliant day 😊 Scan went so well, thankfully. Baby has a strong heartbeat and is measuring 9w3ds and EDD 23/04/2020, so all is on track! I obviously cried as soon as they showed me 🙈 DH kept saying it looks like a turtle so now I've got an image of Crush from Finding Nemo in my head 😂 Attached a photo :)
We then went to a Japanese restaurant nearby for an early dinner, such good food!

@BostonFern glad your lung scan went well and all is okay! The birth bag looks great, especially the little keepsakes. It makes it so much easier knowing you've got all the essentials ready to go!

@Delilah7 ahhh Ethan is such a cutie 😍

@ELW85 I completely understand wanting to do an extra test for that peace of mind, regardless of what everyone else says. It's how I felt about th I reassurance scan today, even though my mum and MIL said just to wait for the 12 week scan. I hope the NIPT results come through quickly. I'm sure all will be fine. How exciting you'll get to find out what you're having next week!!
Great shout on Hotel Chocolat, enjoy 😊

@stormtrooperjulian ahh how exciting!! Sending lots of positive thoughts your way! Hope you're doing okay!

@MrsEG yay for pram buying! That's a big one ticked off your list at least. Sorry you've not been having much luck with the other furniture though.
Could they have deals on these things at baby shows? Or would they be too small because you need double of everything?

@PippaPug oh what a long wait for you, bless you. Glad all is okay though!

Sorry for all others I've missed! I hope you've all had a brilliant weekend. I'm sad at how fast it's gone. Back to work tomorrow! 😩

@LokiCat that's a fantastic picture! That's awesome that everything's ok 😊

@LokiCat - I’m so, so happy for you that the scan went well 😊 what a brilliant pic!
Ours around that time looked like a tiny space man!
And thank you; I think the majority of the time things will be absolutely fine but I also don’t think you can put a price on reassurance if something is bothering you.
So, just keeping everything crossed the results come back really quickly and totally fine!

Can't believe it's Monday tomorrow ☹️ Although I have my midwife appointment so hopefully that will go OK and break the day up a bit! We also have an office Bake Off later this week, for Macmillon 😀🍰🧁

Morning all 😊

@MrsR16 thanks lovely! Ooh the Silver Cross Pioneer looks beautiful. I'm debating between that one and the M&P Occaro. I was browsing websites last night looking at bundle deals and reviews.

@ELW85 thank you so, so much :) haha yeah they look so different early on. Amazing how much they change!
Definitely agree. I have everything crossed for you that the results come back all clear!

@Fivebyfive2 thank you!! 😁 the weekend went by so quickly! Hope your midwife appointment goes well! Office Bake Off sounds brill. Cakes always make the week better Smile

Has anyone heard of the Bournemouth Baby Centre? I was looking at their website last night and they've got some pretty decent bundle deals and discounts! Reviews and feedback from other users on Mumsnet/Netmum seems like it's a legit website (and an actual store in Bournemouth if anyone's close by!). I think we may use them when we actually start buying!

Have a lovely Monday all x

Wow so many posts to catch up on!

@ELW85 - yes such a peace of mind, babies are healthy and that’s what I wanted to know. How are you you?

@MrsR16 - yes wasn’t comfy at all! Glad you had a rest at your mums, how was lunch?

@MrsEG - yes he believes it’s this fibroid Causing the pain but it should ease up, as well as the normal ligament pain! We are trying to work out our nursery theme as such as I think we have decided we aren’t going to find out what they are....so something neutral I believe! Have you looked on Ikea/mamas and papas for cots?

@LokiCat - what a beautiful scan photo, I bet your over the moon! I couldn’t wait 12 week either, because I had been on honeymoon I just wanted to check little Bean was ok - it just felt that it was so long till someone said yes you are pregnant - rather then just the home tests I did! Felt like I needed someone to prove it to me!

I’m currently waiting at the hospital for my glucose test, I kind of feel like I’m living here at the moment, I have another appointment on Wednesday too to see the consultant so he can check the babies ☺️

Happy Monday everyone - what’s everyone’s plans this week?

@ELW85 Aaaaand I fell asleep again haha! Just about to catch up over breakfast, the beauty of my WFH mondays! I’ve already woken to a bunch of spoilers too!!

@LokiCat What a fabulous scan photo! I agree with everyone - I had to have early scans but they were so reassuring - my sister just waited for 12 weeks and she’s normally such an anxious person. I wonder now how she handled it!!
I am going to the baby show in a Manchester this coming weekend so will see if there are any deals there!

@MrsR16 Yeah one of my baby books recommended letting the dog get used to the pram so it’s less of a shock for them when it’s suddenly full of babies haha! Ooh the silver cross looks lovely.

@Fivebyfive2 Enjoy your midwife appt, and the Bake Off!

@PippaPug Yep tried IKEA and mamas and papas!! We’re at a baby show this weekend so will look for any deals. Otherwise I think we’ll be going for a large IKEA wardrobe and then two cots to match as closely as we can, and a changing table. I drew a picture of it last night to help me get it in to my head! Oh wow you’re waiting on the sex! How exciting. I so wish I had that patience haha! Hope the glucose test goes well today!

So I’m having another head scratcher while shopping at the moment - car seats! Jesus there are so many of them!! I have ISOFIX enabled seats in the car but if anything this is making it all even more confusing!

@LokiCat scan is so lovely contemplating having one when's the best time? I'm 6+1 now

I know I can't really get excited until the 12 week scan but I'm feeling optimistic

Morning all!

@Fivebyfive2 @MrsEG - PB -I’m not sure how I felt about the episode last night. It was obviously great, but it felt a bit less eventful/more predictable than others? I’ve felt this season has been quite slow overall though. Maybe I just built it up too much in my head!

@LokiCat - definitely the M&P Occarro for us! We saw it in Mothercare and have been stalking bundle deals online since!

@PippaPug - I’m not doing too badly, thank you! I certainly haven’t been through what you have with the fibroid, so can’t really complain! I do need to stop stumbling across horror stories about scans etc on here though. I don’t think it’s helpful to read. Just positive thoughts and outcomes from now on 😊

Report
ELW85 · 23/09/2019 08:51

@MrsH497 - that’s great to see, congratulations!! I had an early scan and would recommend one just after 8 weeks. They look more like a baby and the risk of anything happening after a heartbeat at 8 weeks is about 1% so might be good peace of mind?

@LokiCat it is beautiful 😊 the in laws wanted to get us the pram and they wanted to buy British! There ended up being a glitch on mothercare's website so they paid less than £900 for the great big bundle they do!

@PippaPug lunch was lovely! DH's cousin got a bit too drunk and emotional but aside from that it was ok! Stayed out for too long though - I'm exhausted this morning! 😂

@MrsEG I guess I should read past the first chapter of my baby book! 😂

@MrsH497 I'd say you're allowed to get excited! It's great to see 3+ on there for sure 😊 x

@MrsEG definitely going to get a spritz got bits/similar! What a shame about the Ikea trip-did you at least get meatballs/a hotdog? How exciting to have got the pram too!

Thanks @stormtrooperjulian How's labour going?

@PippaPug so glad everything is ok with your babies, no wonder you're in pain though! I hope the pain subsides soon x

@Fivebyfive2 I think if it's not butted up against the bed it's ok for the mattress to be at another level, but if it's against the bed it should be level so there's no suffocation risk of they roll towards your mattress?
Just seen your update, I'd be tempted to buy a new one too if pieces were missing. We've just bought the Venture Hush Crib from Amazon, gets really good reviews and is cheaper then chicco/snuzpod. We will be putting it up this weekend I think-can let you know what it's like if you haven't got anything by then.

@LokiCat thanks and I'm so pleased your ultrasound went well, such a lovely scan photo too!

@PippaPug hope the GTT goes ok for you today.

@MrsH497 you must be so happy to see the 3+

I'm starting to feel a bit better, got my 31 week midwife appointment today, so I'm hoping that seeing her and hearing the heartbeat again will reassure me as I was quite anxious yesterday, worrying that being unwell/having the scans could have caused harm (logically, the scientist in me knows the risks are low but the pregnancy hormones kind of took over yesterday).
DP took us out to pick the car seat up from
Halfords this weekend too. We've gone for the joie I-level, I really liked the reclining function (and that it can be reclined in the car too) and thought the price point was pretty good for an I-size seat with recline and the base included.

Morning lovelies 🥰

@LokiCat glad everything went well at your scan, and a fab picture too! Xx

Ahhh @stormtrooperjulian good luck!! You got this ❤️ xx

@Delilah7 Ethan is adorable!! How're you feeling? Xx

Ooh @ELW85 hope your NIPT results come back soon - and exciting that you get to find out what little bubba is early too! Xx

@PippaPug how was the test? Hope the fibroid disappears quickly and doesn't cause you anymore trouble!! X

@MrsEG I'll be at the Baby show too! Ikea don't really have much choice in terms of cots really, and my local one the baby/nursery bit is tiny! I think it's a good shout re the large cupboards though, especially when you'll need double the storage xx

@BabySquid you're halfway through?! Wow that's flown!!! Xx

Ahh @MrsH497 that's fantastic 😊 I had quite a few scans 😂 but I booked a private for 8w and I couldn't recommend it more xx

@MrsR16 that's a bargain!! Good that you've got that sorted too, what've you got left to buy? Xx
