I will do @purplefig and I'm sure they do the baby event a few times in the year xx

@ELW85 I've already got a couple of bits and I'm a week behind you 😂🙈 x

Omg @GemmaJen I bet!! It's gone super fast though x

I've been in bed with stupid nausea again today, snacking on plain crackers seems to sort of help. I don't feel "sick" more like hungry and empty. Gross again really 😂 I've noticed my areola are getting bigger?! My boobs are definitely changing shape 😂

thumper59 · 15/08/2019 13:58

@ELW85 I was buying stuff pretty much from the positive test I got 4 days before my missed period 🙄😖. We had an early scan at 8+5, and I had got a little baby OHs surname made to give him subject to everything being fine at our scan, which it was, and around that sorta time I started picking up some first size clothes because I couldn't resist 😫

@MrsEG aw you never know! We really wasn't bothered either way what ours was, I know DP would of preferred boy if he could pick, even though he spent all the time saying he really is happy either way and doesn't have any preference, every scenario he was coming up with he kept saying ' me and my boy' 😂. His little face when the sonogorapher said he was a boy, I wish I had it videoed! He was trying to hide his excitement and when we got out he was like oh god I think I'm gonna pop with excitement but I was trying to play it real cool in there 😂😂

Fivebyfive2 · 15/08/2019 14:11

Looks like every one found the new thread 😀

Ladies, please talk sense into me...my NHS 20 wk scan is in 2 weeks, there is nothing actually worrying me... Buuuut the lady running the Swim /Yoga group can get us discounts at that meet your miracle place which is near to us. I'm tempted to go at the weekend, just because I'm having crap week and think seeing the baby will make me happy! I know that's mad and I should wait though 😂

Afternoon ladies!

@MrsEG so pleased your scan went well! What fab scan photos too.

Glad your feeling better today @purplefig

@stormtrooperjulian Sorry you're still feeling rubbish

@Jessikka that must have been so worrying ☹️

@MrsEG I know what you mean about appointments, I've got two and a half weeks until my next one, which seems like ages as they're normally so close together!

@cupcakesandglitter Sorry you're so nauseous again-yes, another effect of pregnancy is the areola getting bigger! Guess it makes it easier for baby to identify where they need to be?

We popped into ALDI this morning, picked up some bits to go with the website pre-order we put in at the start of the week, we've bought/ordered a silicon breast pump, milk storage bags, muslin clothes, hooded baby towel and mitt, blanket, nappy caddy, milestone blanket, and some nappies.

Not done much else though, had pain in my lower left abdomen since yesterday morning, not sure if it's stretching pains or something to do with my digestive system, I actually rang the hospital yesterday as I was getting so worried. They advised paracetamol and a warm bath, and to call back if that didn't relieve the pain. Luckily it did, so I'm not so worried today, but all I want to do it rest.

BostonFern · 15/08/2019 14:17

@Fivebyfive2 I'm not one to ask about scans-I had one at 17 weeks (but, in my defence I'd been incredibly stressed at work and that in turn was making me stress that something could be wrong with baby). Is the yoga/swimming group a pregnancy one? I've looked around and can't find a swimming/aquanatal one online, and if I remember your not far from me? Wondering if I've missed one!

Bettythecat · 15/08/2019 14:37

@Fivebyfive2 I don't think you're mad at all- I find them reassuring too and love having them. If it will make you happy don't worry about whether it's mad or not or what other people think- just go and have one. We had one at 14+5 after which I was so much more comfortable telling everyone about the pregnancy. I didn't tell anyone before we went for worrying they would think I was mad but I have no regrets that I went at all!!

Fivebyfive2 · 15/08/2019 14:47

@Bostonfern, hi sweet! It's a pregnancy class and is at the landeu forte academy swimming pool in Tamworth. It's called bumps 2 bambinos 😀

BostonFern · 15/08/2019 14:54

Thank you @Fivebyfive2 I'll have to look it up! I could do with something to help my hips!

BostonFern · 15/08/2019 14:58

Ah I got so excited @Fivebyfive2 and then read I can't do it at the moment as I've currently got placenta previa ☹️ another reason to hope my placenta moves in the next few weeks! Thanks again though, going to keep that bookmarked.

MrsEG · 15/08/2019 15:52

@cupcakesandglitter I felt starving all the time, from the second I woke up - just find things you can snack on and go to town haha. Salt and vinegar discos, berries, toast, pretzels, sour sweets all did the trick for me. Oh and dairylea dunkers haha! And yes my nipples are like dinner plates - they also darken towards the end of pregnancy, it’s so baby can see them properly (there’ll be no bloody missing mine)

@thumper59 Oh bless your DH that’s so cute!! Mine was trying to play it cool yesterday but I kept seeing him quietly wipe his eyes!! I think he’s keen for one of them to be a boy but mainly as he’s said he wouldn’t have a clue what to do with girls - you learn though! And who’s to say a little girl won’t love rugby just as much as he does :)

@Fivebyfive2 If you can afford it and want it, go for it! Why the heck not :)

MrsEG · 15/08/2019 15:54

@BostonFern Sounds like you got a great haul at Aldi! Sorry to hear you had a rough one yesterday; I’m of the firm belief a good bath can help all ailments too haha. I’ve avoided baths in the first trimester as I felt so woozy (and as I usually love them scalding hot!) so I am so looking forward to getting back in the tub soon!

purplefig · 15/08/2019 16:11

@ELW85 Hope your migraine clears up soon, they are the absolute pits. I'm 14+3 and so far we've been given a bag of newborn clothes from friends and we've purchased a highchair (bit random!). That's it. We did sit down and make a big list the other night though, and I was slightly overwhelmed at all the various bits and pieces we need to pick up, so I think we'll start soon to spread the cost out.I know a lot of people wait until the 12 week scan, but it's a totally personal decision.

@stormtrooperjulian it could be, but you've been in the third trimester for a good few weeks now. Let us know how you get on with the next appointment, really hope they can work it out for you

@GemmaJen I'm just impressed you're still going to yoga tbh!

@MrsEG ahh that's exciting that you might find out a bit earlier at the 16/17 week scan. I just hope the baby isn't in an awkward position when the time comes, but I don't think I'll be gutted if we can't find out. I'm just madly curious! Your dinner plates comment made me snort-laugh...I feel ya!

@MrsR16 glad it's not just me! Luckily my mum is soooo excited (first grandchild), so she's always willing to listen to me rabbit on (for now at least).

@cupcakesandglitter sorry you're feeling nauseous again. For what it's worth my boobs have totally changed - I've gone from a 32C / D to a 32E!!

@Fivebyfive2 It's totally your call. I don't think I would as I find scans a bit anxiety-provoking in the lead-up, plus I'm trying to save money at the moment.

@BostonFern sorry to hear about your pain - how many weeks are you again? Glad the midwife advice worked, but must be horrible nevertheless. Sounds like you did well at Aldi!

cupcakesandglitter · 15/08/2019 17:00

@Fivebyfive2 I think if it eases your mind, go for it xx

@BostonFern oh god, no one is missing these!! Glad you got some nice bits from Aldi, and glad the bath worked too xx

@MrsEG dairylea dunkers 🤤🤤 you genius!! I want some 😂 DINNER PLATES 😂😂 that's is EXACTLY how I feel!! X

@purplefig the rise of the big boobs! 😂 x

purplefig · 15/08/2019 18:36

@cupcakesandglitter I know, it's ridiculous Grin just hoping they don't continue to expand at the same rate - bras are expensive!

Ok so after a few of you mentioned the reusable nappies at Aldi I fell down a cloth rabbit hole. I've been researching brands, filled out the Nappy Lady Questionnaire etc. but I kept thinking: how do you commit to a certain brand/style/fabric before you've had the baby and know what is going to fit it's shape? I could see it being a huge waste of money.

Anyway - after this I discovered something called the Nappy Library. It's a network that's set up all over the UK and they basically allow you to hire out a kit once the baby is here, to see if you like it. And from there you can go on and order confidently. Just thought I'd flag in case anyone else wasn't aware of it and was put off for similar reasons to me.

stormtrooperjulian · 15/08/2019 19:37

@cupcakesandglitter I went up 5 cup sizes in 5 months.... I'm a 32H now and I hate it 😐 My nipples are so dark now too.

@Fivebyfive2 if another scan will make you happy then go for it!

@BostonFern why does placenta previa stop you from swimming? I hope it sorts itself out by your next scan!

@purplefig I was worried about that too. I've bought a big selection of nappies, only a few of each brand/type, and mostly second hand (3 new ones that I didn't pay full price for). I've got around 25 now and I can figure out which ones work best for us and I haven't spent too much so far.

Fivebyfive2 · 15/08/2019 19:59

@MrsEG, based on nothing at all I am guessing one of each for you!! They're lovely pictures, definitely model babies 😀

@cupcakesandglitter @ELW85, hope you're both feeling better this evening? Xxx

@Bostonfern, definitely keep it book marked for if you could come later on. There is a few women who are about ready to drop so can do it until right near the end. I'll look out for you there 🙂

Glad to see people taking advantage of the Aldi event, might check it out tomorrow evening!

We booked a scan! It's late Saturday morning. Sil is very approving, as she desperately wants to know what it is so she can plan an outfit for The Wedding... In 2021 😂 Might keep her in suspense just for my twisted amusement 🤔

Friday tomorrow ladies!! Anyone got plans? We're seeing an outdoor showing of Jurassic Park, so I'll be humming the theme tune all weekend... Dh may divorce me 😂

OP posts:
purplefig · 15/08/2019 20:18

@stormtrooperjulian wow that is quite a jump up in size!! I'm just so unused to having them - constantly getting in my way. I did a bit of reading around and it seems like eventually, anecdotally at least, they do go back to roughly the same size as pre pregnancy (I guess in most cases provided any extra weight was lost).

Re: nappies, the volunteer I spoke to at our local nappy library said most people she speaks to put their newborns in disposables as a) birth through to potty nappies in most cases are more like 10-12lb+ b) they cut themselves some slack while adjusting to early parenthood. I think I'll definitely go this route to save having to buy lots of different brands, though I do understand the appeal of having everything ready to go.

@Fivebyfive2 ooo that's exciting you'll get to see them again soon. Do you have inkling as to which sex you're having? Outdoor Jurassic Park sounds epic (and slightly frightening...I'm the biggest wimp).

We've got friends down again for the weekend (honestly I'm actually an introvert - all this socialising will be the end of me)!! At least I'm feeling pretty decent at the moment. Nothing worse than hosting when you feel rubbish. Out of interest - how many weekends a year would you say you have people stay with you? We're having a no weekend stats rule next year and Im pretty hyped for it 😂.

BostonFern · 15/08/2019 20:23

Thanks @MrsEG, I can't wait to be able to have a bath that's hot rather than warm!

Thank you too @purplefig, I'm currently 25+1, I think it's probably everything stretching again.

@stormtrooperjulian that's a good question! They didn't say on the website, so I've no idea why placenta previa should stop me doing aqua natal, I'm guessing they're probably covering their backs insurance wise.

@Fivebyfive2 Will keep my 🤞I can join!
Aww, your SIL sounds very excited!

Fivebyfive2 · 15/08/2019 20:26

@purplefig, we don't really ever have people to stay as there's no room! We do host for dinners and whatever but not to stay over. Dh has said if we had the space I'd always be inviting people over though, so he's pretty happy with the lack of space 😂

No idea what we're having! I was thinking boy, but I posted a 'nub' thread (I know, sorry!) after our 12 week scan and every poster said girl?! To be honest I have no idea what people are looking at when they do Nub or skull guessing?!!

OP posts:
MrsEG · 15/08/2019 20:37

@purplefig I know; not getting my hopes up for finding out the sex though as I know that’s not really what these scans are for at the mo! But if we can see they would tell us :) Mum is itching to book us a 4D scan so she can see them but I’d rather have that much later on! Ha - I’m just glad I’m not the only one sporting the dinner plate nips at the moment!! Re: nappies, my Nappy Lady quote also had a hire kit option to try before you buy; I think I’d just rather have it all in place beforehand! And I’ve seen and hears the same as you that disposables are better for newborn and start with cloth once they get to at least 10lb; that’s actually what my quote was based on!

@cupcakesandglitter Dairylea dunkers got me through some tough days haha - stock up! I had a real thing for cheese in general around 6-7 weeks!

@Fivebyfive2 Ha, I just have no idea! In a way I don’t even want to think about it as if I got set on one combo and it ended up being another I don’t want to feel disappointed, if that makes sense? I’ll be absolutely delighted with whoever they are! Ah enjoy the scan; bet you’ll see so much growth. Outdoor Jurassic Park sounds fab! We actually had the theme played at our wedding during the drinks reception (although not as I walked down the aisle, as DH wanted... me: ‘I don’t want people to be expecting a T-Rex when it’s actually me in a wedding dress’)

@BostonFern I know - a warm bath to me is just cold haha! I’ll stock up on some good bath salts to make it worth my while!

Fivebyfive2 · 15/08/2019 20:47

@MrsEG, ha ha omg I love that you had it at your wedding!! And my dh would totally suggest having it as I 'stomped' down the aisle 😂

Dh is very excited now! It's too early for him to feel any movement (to be honest sometimes I'm still like, is it the baby or gas?!) so seeing little Homer (as we've taken to calling the baby because of how relaxed they looked at the 12 week scan😂) again will be awesome for him!

OP posts:
ELW85 · 15/08/2019 22:07

Evening all!

@Fivebyfive2 - thanks, I’m feeling better today, nausea was back on the table along with a weird craving for anything salt and vinegar (ended up being pringles) and cabbage. Actually, a lot of veg in general, so I basically ended up making a Sunday dinner 😂
How are you doing?
Jurassic Park sounds awesome! I’ve always wanted to do a Potter film night at a castle for the atmosphere!

Tropicana1 · 15/08/2019 22:49

@Fivebyfive2 hey! Mine is next Thursday so will be 20 and a half weeks! Can't believe how quickly this half way point has come around. Do you think you can feel movements yet? I'm so unconvinced that what I think I can feel is actually real or whether it's just all in my head 🙈

@MrsEG feeling so good to be out of that nausea 1st trimester stuff! Pretty much don't feel pregnant a lot of the time at the mo as I'm not really showing at all yet :/

Delilah7 · 16/08/2019 03:28

@Cookie0508 congratulations lovely hes beautiful. Love the name xx

@Crossfitgirl oh my god what a little doll 😍 congratulations old buddy!! How exciting xxx

LokiCat · 16/08/2019 06:59

Morning all, I hope I can join? I've been lurking for a little waiting till I can add 🙈 I got my faint bfp on Monday at 11dpo, so was waiting till AF is 1 day late before I can take a CB digital. I've never seen 2-3 weeks so feels really good Smile
I had an early mc in March at 5 weeks so currently feeling really anxious for it to all go wrong.. I'm only 4+1 right now.

I've had sore boobs since ovulation and they've got worse since I got my bfp. No other symptoms, apart from some cramps here and there. Just really hoping this is a sticky bean.

It's so lovely seeing so many familiar names here. Very happy that things have been going well for you guys!!

How are you all? 💕
