@LokiCat congratulations!! Great to have you here! 😊 that's a good line on your FRER for sure and even better to see 2-3 weeks on your Digi. I've got absolutely everything crossed for you! Xx

Fivebyfive2 · 16/08/2019 08:02

Happy Friday ladies!

@lokicat, congratulations sweet!! What fantastic news 😀 So happy to see you on here xxx

@Tropicana1, aaahh not long until your scan!! I think I've been feeling faint movement for a couple of weeks, but not kicks or anything obviously, just a weird sensation of like a ladybird walking across the skin, but on the inside?! Hope that makes sense. I told my mw and she said it was most likely the baby! I thiiiiink I felt a tiny 'nudge' the other night when I was talking to my friend on the phone?! But it is hard to tell. Looking forward for when it's more distinct 🙂

@LokiCat - So happy to see you on here, congratulations!!!

LokiCat · 16/08/2019 08:42

@MrsR16 thank you so much! How are you?

@Fivebyfive2 thank you! Oh how exciting that you're starting to feel your little bubba!!

@PippaPug thanks lovely! How was the rest of your honeymoon?

MrsEG · 16/08/2019 08:46

@Fivebyfive2 Love that you call baby Homer! We call ours Phil and Lil :)

@Tropicana1 Glad the nausea is over for you now! I’m sure your bump will pop soon. Mine is already huge at 12+5, can’t wear any of my old clothes anymore not even my old swimsuit!

@Delilah7 Hello lovely how are you keeping?

@LokiCat Congratulations!!!

PippaPug · 16/08/2019 08:58

@purplefig - Really glad your feeling back to normal now, that’s so good!

@MrsEG - yes always good when you have two little ones to change! I need to have a look at reuseable nappies again, I have worked with them before but wasn’t keen at the time but it was one brand (which I cant remember what it is now!) and I kind of discounted reuseables with twins....will have a think.

@LokiCat - Honeymoon was fantastic, been home for a week and such a whirlwind week - we had a early scan on Saturday (to cheer us up from any holiday blues!) and found out I’m having twins 😱 it’s slowly sinking in now!

LokiCat · 16/08/2019 09:28

@MrsEG thank you! How cute that you call them Phil and Lil, I loved them on Rugrats haha
I can't believe you're 12+5 already - time flies!

@PippaPug oh wow!! Congratulations! Another set of twins on here. How are you feeling about it? It must have been quite a shock I imagine!

TrashKitten10 · 16/08/2019 09:43

Thanks for the new thread @Fivebyfive2. If you're having a rubbish week and can afford it then why not. You could always save the money though and have a 4d scan down the line.

@MrsEG Fabulous scan photos! I have no experiencing in skull or nub theory but I'm going to guess two boys Grin

@GemmaJen I was just thinking about you and wondering how you were getting on as if not seen your name for a while. You're getting so close! Baby's going be a lovely little chunk by the sounds of it. I've heard bigger babies can put more effort in and make birth a bit easier, definitely go with that train of thought :)

@ELW85 We didn't buy anything until 20 weeks as we had decided to have a little shopping trip if everything went well at the scan. It was hard to wait but really lovely to get some little outfits then as it all felt a bit more real at that point.

@cupcakesandglitter @MrsEG I laughed out loud at your nipple comments. Mine have also grown ridiculously large and got really dark. DH now refers to them affectionately as my pepperoni tits

@purplefig using a nappy library is a great idea to find out what you like. I've bought a small selection of nappies and I'm just going to see what I like most. I've bought some cheap Littles and bloomz newborns and some newborn baba and boo which are supposed to fit to 6 months so hopefully still get decent use out of them. DH and I are both tall so I imagine baby won't be far off BTP nappy sizes when they're born but I thought if I didn't commit from the start I might keep putting it off. I'd recommend the Facebook page cloth nappies UK which had loads of advice. They also point in the direction of the Australian site 'clean cloth nappies' which has advice for UK users too. They slate the cleaning advice given by a lot of UK sites including the nappy lady and I've personally found it useful to get my head around all the wash routines so I know what I'm doing once baby arrives.

@LokiCat So, so happy to see you here! Huge congratulations! 🥰

I had an absolutely awful nights sleep last night. I'm still managing to just about sleep flopped onto my front but baby took big exception to this and kicked me madly for squashing her. Then I was getting dead arms, then I needed the toilet, then I was coughing. Welcome to the third trimester Grin

MrsEG · 16/08/2019 09:58

@PippaPug Yeah it’s definitely worth looking in to, I’ve calculated over the years they’ll save me a small fortune! Mum has said she’ll give me a hand as well as she used cloth nappies back in the day; she said it takes some prep and being organised but it’s fine! So I’m really hoping I get on with them.

@LokiCat I know; the first trimester really, really dragged for me so I am so pleased to be past it now! I completely understand your anxiety but just try and stay positive; you can always look in to early scans to put your mind at rest (just try and wait til at least 6.5/7 weeks)

@TrashKitten10 I’ve got a guess for all three combos now haha! Really can’t wait to find out! Sorry to hear you had such a restless night - do you have a pregnancy pillow? My sister gave me hers last week - I don’t even need it yet but my god it’s comfy!!

We’ve just booked our NCT course this morning for the first week of December; I wasn’t sure about doing it (my sister hated it) but I noticed they offered one with an additional twin workshop in my area so that sold it for me; if I could meet even one other twin mum to bounce help and ideas off that would be so useful!! Feels crazy to have it booked though; also the fact it’s only 3.5 months away seems mad! Consultant told us to make sure ours were completed before 30 weeks though (‘just in case’ - they love that phrase ha!)

Hope everyone’s having a good Friday - it is torrential ☔️ here today so no plans at all this evening. Meeting some friends for lunch tomorrow though to tell the good news which I can’t wait for!

BostonFern · 16/08/2019 10:38

Congratulations @LokiCat! Hoping you have a healthy nine months.

Oh no @TrashKitten10 🤞 you get a better nights sleep tonight.

@MrsEG We've booked our NCT course too, I'm a bit nervous about it but hopeful it'll help me make other 'mum friends' as, other than my SIL I don't know anyone else with a little one.

Not much planned here today, putting the last bits back in the living room after decorating it and straightening up the dining room after it was used to store all the living room bits in!

purplefig · 16/08/2019 10:43

@Fivebyfive2 we live pretty far from family and also in a traditionally 'holiday' ish part of the UK, so visitors - particularly in the summer - can seem non stop. It's both lovely and exhausting!

@MrsEG The nappy library month hire cost is only £20 at my local library, so I think I'm going to go with that as I have 0 idea what brand/type will fit them before they're here. And if they're in disposables to start it's no great rush. But the organisation freak inside of me is slightly freaking out at that laid-back approach!

@ELW85 veg cravings?!? Lucky you! Glad you're feeling better today.

LokiCat · 16/08/2019 11:37

@TrashKitten10 thank you so much. Sorry to hear you've had such a terrible night, I hope tonight goes better. How exciting that you've reached the third trimester though! So happy for you 😊

@MrsEG thank you, I am trying to! This one does feel different to my last pregnancy, so I'm hoping that's good news. I was talking to DH last night and as long as we get through the next few weeks I'm thinking of booking an early scan for 8/9 weeks.
It's miserable in London, as well. Can't believe this is August.
Enjoy your lunch tomorrow, must be so nice telling people! We've just told my parents and my manager at work for now because of what happened last time. He's so lovely about it. Will most likely tell others after our scan!

@BostonFern thank you! 😊
Our living was an absolute mess when we stored bits from the kitchen in there, whilst it was being redone. Took forever putting straightening it back up. Feels like a new house when redecorating though, I love it Grin hope you manage to get it all done today!

purplefig · 16/08/2019 12:04

@LokiCat how did I miss this earlier!?! Congratulations that's amazing news!

@TrashKitten10 thanks for the FB + Australian recommendations, I'll check them both out. Out of interest what aspect of the cleaning routine do they slate? Is it the avoidance of napisan/vanish etc. because I'm having a hard time seeing how stains would be removed without something like that? Fab to see how many people on here are interested in cloth nappies.

MrsEG · 16/08/2019 12:47

@BostonFern Yeah, I have quite a lot of friends with kids and many now work part time so I’m sure I’ll see a lot of them, but it will be nice to meet new people with newborns too! My sister has made all her new mum friends though at baby sensory and playgroup - she said if your baby is friends with another baby you and their mum are instantly bonded haha!

@purplefig I’ll have a look at the Nappy Library! A good friend of mine I know uses reusables too so once we tell her I’ll be asking Qs; she has a baby and a 2 year old too so must be using plenty!

@ELW85 Also jealous you’re craving veg - enjoy it! I did manage a side salad last night though with my pie and chips

@MrsEG I think that sounds ideal! I had lots of scans under my consultant which was so reassuring, but my gosh the difference even between 7 weeks to 9 weeks was unbelievable! I was the same - we told our family and my boss for all my appointments, and are just now telling everyone else post-scan :)

MrsR16 · 16/08/2019 13:30

@LokiCat I'm doing well thank you 😊 22+2 today! Can't believe how fast it's going.

Glad everyone's getting on ok! I have a super busy weekend coming up... kind of looking forward to it because I like the event, but not looking forward to how tired it's going to make me!

RanchoRelaxo · 16/08/2019 13:43

Checking in on the new thread :)
Massive congratulations to the new babies! And congratulations to all the bfps :)

Freya is 6 weeks old now, and time is going so quickly in a sleep deprivated blur 😂 the days go so fast, probably because it takes an extra hour to get ready to leave the house now haha (and then just as your about to leave she wants a bottle, then has a poo!) It's crazy and hard but I'm loving it.

Hope everyone is having a great Friday!

MrsR16 · 16/08/2019 13:49

@RanchoRelaxo aw, great to hear you and Freya are doing well!! 😊 I can imagine it takes forever to get out the house haha it takes me long enough as it is (although it's mainly DH that delays me!) xx

ELW85 · 16/08/2019 15:01

@MrsEG @purplefig - such a weird craving, I know!
I’ve gone back to having to force food down today and just feeling generally off food in general.

@TrashKitten10 - thanks, I guess everyone buys things at different times. I’m happy to leave it til post-scan I think 😊

@LokiCat - welcome! So, so happy you’re here! How are you feeling? Xx

I hope everyone is having a lovely Friday! DH and I are in Birmingham for a little weekend away and it’s just so good to not be in work!

stormtrooperjulian · 16/08/2019 15:09

@purplefig I really hope mine do go back to their pre-pregnancy size, I never wanted huge boobs and they just get in the way.

@Fivebyfive2 my DH first felt kicks at 19 weeks so it shouldn't be too long til your DH can feel something too. its so lovely when you first start feeling movement isn't it!

@LokiCat congratulations! Great to see you here. How are you feeling?

@TrashKitten10 Do you have a pregnancy pillow? I can still just about sleep on my front as long as I arrange the pillow properly around my huge belly.

@MrsEG @BostonFern We only recently finished our NCT course, I found it fairly useful (particularly the breastfeeding session) and so far we seem to be developing a nice little group dynamic so hopefully we will be able to support one another over the next few months. The first class was so awkward though so brace yourselves for that 😂

@RanchoRelaxo glad to hear you and Freya are doing well!

purplefig · 16/08/2019 15:38

@MrsEG it's great to see how many people are using them. I'd be interested to hear more about how people keep them clean/stain free as I know the nappy lady is very anti soaking them in any sort of pre-wash treatment so I feel like they'd just dry on? Also just read about your NCT class - awesome they have a twin section. Fingers crossed you meet a local twin-mum-to-be, that would be so handy. Although having singleton mum friends will be lovely too, nothing will beat another twin mum who just inherently gets it.

@RanchoRelaxo glad to hear you're enjoying new parenthood - I can't believe she's 6 weeks already!

@ELW85 get stuff whenever feels right to you. I understand why some people wait for ages, but personally I don't want to consider things going wrong, and if they do it's something I'll have to deal with at the time. Plus, the thought of leaving it all until the last minute stresses me out! Enjoy your weekend away, that sounds like a lovely break.

@stormtrooperjulian yeah I hope mine do too - they feel like bloody boulders at the moment!

MrsEG · 16/08/2019 16:06

@MrsR16 Enjoy the weekend - what event is it?

@RanchoRelaxo 6 weeks already! That has flown. Ha, yes everyone says factor in so much extra time for literally everything once baby is around - I feel like with two I probably just won’t leave the house for the first few months haha! Hope you’re both doing fab.

@ELW85 Enjoy Birmingham! Enjoy those veggies - my midwife said to me on weds to try and start eating as healthy as I can now in the second trimester and I went ‘I’ll try, considering the first was such a write off’ and she just looked at me and said ‘Beige birthday party buffet?’ haha I was like YES!!

@stormtrooperjulian Oh god I can imagine how awkward it is starting NCT - if there’s an icebreaker I’ll die haha! My sister also recommended the baby and child first aid course so I may look in to that too, she said she’d come along too as a refresher. I have to say, I wouldn’t have a scooby what to do in a baby emergency.

@purplefig from what I’ve seen re: cleaning and stains, drying on the line in sunlight is the best thing for them - otherwise Tots Bots potion comes highly recommended too.
I know - I’ve been reading a few twin blogs and they said you can sometimes feel quite bitter when surrounded by Singleton mums and you can become a bit ‘oh sod off moaning with your ONE baby’ haha - which I massively want to avoid!! So even one twin mum who I could spitball with when the going gets really tough would be amazing!

Really having some bad round ligament pains today, must be some serious stretching going on in there. Belly also feels really tight! Have convinced DH to come for a swim with me this weekend and I’m so excited to move around a bit again!

LokiCat · 16/08/2019 16:25

@purplefig thanks lovely! How have you been getting on?

@MrsR16 oh wow that is fast, glad you're doing well though. Enjoy your event! Anything special?

@ELW85 thank you so much 😊 I'm okay thank you! Just wishing some symptoms would start (although I know if I get some bad ones I'll regret saying that 😂) how are you? Enjoy your weekend away! Sounds lovely, especially being away from work xx

@stormtrooperjulian thank you! I've been feeling okay. Still slightly in shock and I don't think it's completely hit me yet (even though it's been a week!). Just really hoping all goes okay this time.
How are you doing?

@MrsEG sorry to hear about the ligament pains. It's crazy how much the body changes. Has swimming been helping?

Question re tablets - I'm still taking the pregnacare conception ones. Did you guys switch straight away? I know the box says I can continue taking them until they're finished but I wasn't sure if it's best to switch straight away, especially in early pregnancy?

Hope you all have a lovely Friday evening! So glad it's the weekend, I couldn't stop yawning all day at work!

MrsEG · 16/08/2019 16:31

@LokiCat I haven’t been yet! I’ve done absolutely no exercise in my first trimester at all haha. I’ll probably seize up in pain after a light swim!
Vitamins - all I take now is folic acid and vitamin D. No one at any hospital has seen the need to spend loads of money on Pregnacare and told me those are all I need, so that’s what I’ve taken! And I made the switch basically right away, with no ill effects.

Delilah7 · 16/08/2019 16:39

@RanchoRelaxo scary how time goes so fast doesn't it. Bless her cotton socks x x x
