@ELW85 ahhh what a gorgeous scan. So happy for you lovely! 😍
Glad you and @cupcakesandglitter have felt similar so hopefully normal (interesting name for it, didn't even know haha!)

@Fivebyfive2 your day sounds lovely 😊 sorry they didn't have your dish but glad you still enjoyed dinner!
I've seen maternity wear at H&M stores but can't think of any others really. Will keep an eye out next time I'm shopping as it'll be good to know for when I need it!

ELW85 · 18/08/2019 19:27

@Fivebyfive2 - thank you! Your dinner sounds lovely :) I'm still craving loads of veg, so I could have smashed a Sunday dinner today!
I've not checked out maternity clothes yet, but feeling like I'll need to soon.

@LokiCat - thank you, my dear :) I feel so much better now! I hope you're having a lovely weekend!

PippaPug · 18/08/2019 19:45

@Fivebyfive2 - not sure where you live - but JoJo Maman Bebe, Asda, Matalan, H and M do at the top of my head :)

cupcakesandglitter · 18/08/2019 21:01

Omg @ELW85 gorgeous picture 😭😭 xx

@Fivebyfive2 oh no! That's what you wanted as well 😩 at least you had lamb 😁 the big H&M on new street does maternity, on the bottom floor, I don't think there's any new look by us that does in store, I can't really think of anywhere else but maybe I've not looked enough 😂 x

If anyone wants to see my satisfying boring BEIGE roast dinner, pic attached - that one parsnip sent me over the edge and I felt sick, knew I should've not risked it. And yes, I requested four Yorkshire's 😁😁

@LokiCat @cupcakesandglitter Yes I’m very intrigued to see what ‘twin wrestling’ feels like! Some twin mums feel flutters as early as 14 weeks but others it takes longer, depends how they are lying. Mine are currently on top of each other but I’ve no idea if that means I’ll feel them sooner or later!

@ELW85 Fabulous scan photo - I hope you’re feeling more reassured now!

@Fivebyfive2 Even though it’s a pain I find maternity clothes online much cheaper and find a much broader range, too. Most shops are good on free returns these days :) I got some lovely stuff in the Boohoo sale - never shopped there before in my life but got some fab big shirts for winter dirt cheap.

@cupcakesandglitter looks fabulous! I can’t eat parsnips at the best of times haha! I was having a pretty healthy day yesterday until I went out with some friends and ended up having pizza 🙈 They also got me this fab balloon to say congrats and I cried haha (big Friends fans!!)

ELW85 · 19/08/2019 07:54

@MrsEG - thank you, I’m feeling so much better now :)
What lovely friends to surprise you with that! I hope you had a wonderful time and smashed that pizza!

PippaPug · 19/08/2019 08:08

@MrsEG - That Balloon is fantastic! What wonderful supportive friends you have!

@cupcakesandglitter - dinner looks fab, Hope you enjoyed it!

So after a 6 nights of rubbish sleep, mind going into overdrive, up 8 times to the toilet 🤨 and awake between 4/5am before going back to sleep around 6 on the sofa, I realised that it has been since I’m having double the amount of folic acid - Googled and it can cause sleep problems so going to try and have it in the mornings instead - last night I didn’t have it before bed, only up 3 times for the toilet and slept till 7 so I’m happy!

Happy Monday everyone, hope everyone has a good day!

MrsR16 · 19/08/2019 08:40

@MrsEG that's an awesome balloon!

@cupcakesandglitter your roast looks so good! I'm eating everything in sight at the moment, so I don't care whether it's all beige or not! 😂😂 you did well!

@ELW85 that's a fantastic scan picture! I'm so happy everything's ok for you!

@Fivebyfive2 I'll second @MrsEG on the Boohoo stuff - I'm currently living in either Boohoo or Dorothy Perkins! But yes, finding it really hard to find stuff actually in shops.

@PippaPug thats interesting to read! I used to take mine when I got home from work, but now take it in the mornings (when I remember!) 😂 I'm glad you had a better night last night.

I had a very long weekend of volunteering and am exhausted today! But I'll power through - only 9 hours and I should be on my way home... 😴😴😴

ELW85 · 19/08/2019 08:41

Thank you so much, @MrsR16! It sounds exhausting, but have you had a good weekend?
I hope your Monday is much more chilled!

cupcakesandglitter · 19/08/2019 08:53

@MrsEG maybe you'll feel the flutters high and low rather than on both sides? Keep us posted 😁 I did watch a YouTube vid yesterday of a lady talking about how she knew she had twins before the scan, and one of the signs she had was that they would both cause flutters at the same time but different points of her body, hopefully you feel it soon 😊 that balloon is fab!! X

Thanks @PippaPug I didn't know that about the higher dose, I need to collect my prescription so I'll take that on board - but actually I have had a couple of nights where I've found it harder to sleep and they've both been when I've taken it right before I sleep! Xx

@MrsR16 😂😂 I'm jealous, I really don't like food atm - although the talk of @MrsEG pizza made my mouth water, I feel nauseous at the thought of seeing/smelling one 😩 oh god, fingers crossed your day goes super quickly and you can get back home and rest!! X

BostonFern · 19/08/2019 09:14

@ELW85 aww, so pleased the scan went well!

@Fivebyfive2 the only places I've found with maternity wear round by us is the mothercare in Tamworth or H&M in Sutton (upstairs with the baby stuff, clever marketing!). Further afield Jojo Maman Bebe in Solihull. Otherwise you could try ordering to Next, trying it on it store and returning it there and then if you don't like it.

cupcakesandglitter · 19/08/2019 09:39

Ooh @BostonFern good shout, completely forgot about Sutton! Also had no idea there was a Jojo in Solihull either, thanks! Ooh also, I second Boohoo's maternity range, I've been browsing and there's some really nice stuff x

purplefig · 19/08/2019 10:05

@ELW85 gorgeous scan pic - so glad you're feeling good.

@Fivebyfive2 sounds you've had a fab weekend away. And a roast dinner is a pretty decent substitution! Maternity wise, I know big HMs do carry bits and bobs, but unfortunately most places it is online.

@cupcakesandglitter omg four Yorkshire puds...inspired!! Grin

@MrsEG ahhh that balloon is fab - what awesome friends you have. And I think a little bit of what you fancy is fine tbh.

I had a lovely weekend with friends, but I'm a bit shattered out now. We've been far too busy lately. Got a quiet ish week, then we're off for a week for a big extended family holiday. Determined to try and enjoy some of it as downtime, as it's the first proper break we've had in ages and won't be happening again pre-baby. Any tips?!

ELW85 · 19/08/2019 10:51

@purplefig @BostonFern - thank you ladies! I feel like I can actually start looking for things and enjoying the pregnancy a bit more now :)

LokiCat · 19/08/2019 11:20

Morning ladies :)

@ELW85 yes it was a lovely weekend thank you. I'm glad you had such a great end to what sounded like a lovely weekend! 😊

@cupcakesandglitter it actually looks great, glad you managed to have some before the parsnip spoilt it!

@MrsEG aww 14 weeks isn't too far then, hopefully you'll start feeling some flutters soon!
Your friends are so sweet, that balloon is brilliant!! How lovely of them! I'm a huge Friends fan as well 😬

@PippaPug that's so interesting to know! I usually end up having my tablets after dinner and have had a few crap nights of sleep, so will see if I can get better sleep if I change when I take it. Glad you slept better last night.

@MrsR16 hope your 1940s weekend went well. Fingers crossed the today is relaxing and will fly by!

@purplefig ooh where are you off to? Me and DH are looking to book a holiday for this year that I can actually enjoy before becoming too uncomfortable! I think Italy may be on the cards.

I got my booking in appointment sorted for next Friday! I'll be 6 weeks. It's all starting to feel so much more real!

When did you all start getting food aversions? I'm 4+4 today and still enjoying food, so I shouldn't complain, but jut wondering when things will kick in.

Hope you all have a great Monday xx

LikeTheFruit · 19/08/2019 11:30

Hi everyone!

Thanks for the new thread! Can't believe how fast it goes!

I'm now 11+3 so slowly the scan is getting closer 😂😂 only 11 sleeps! Had a really rough week last week with sickness and general fedupness (if that's a thing). Ended up having 2 days off work which is unheard of for me - I was one of those kids who's mum sent them to school no matter what was wrong with me! Finding that the earlier I get up and eat the better I am, had a couple of long lies last weekend and really paid for it!

Congratulations @LokiCat very pleased to see you here!! I felt totally the same, desperate for some nausea to make it feel real. I felt fab until about 7 weeks. I got extreme hunger first then the nausea then vomiting didn't start til about 8/9 weeks. The only food aversion I've had is cups of tea otherwise I'll eat anything!

@cupcakesandglitter that plate of Yorkies is making my mouth water! Best bit of any roast.

Hope everyone is well!

purplefig · 19/08/2019 11:30

@ELW85 I know what you mean, I felt so much more relaxed after mine too. It feels more real?!

@LokiCat ooo Italy will be lovely! Where abouts? We're off to sunny Wales. Don't worry about not getting symptoms yet, none of mine kicked in until 6 weeks and even then the nausea was pretty mild. If I could go back in time I'd say to myself: make the most of eating really well as you're about to not eat any vegetable other than potatoes for a month 🤣

LokiCat · 19/08/2019 12:33

@LikeTheFruit thanks lovely! Sorry to hear you had such a rough week last week. Hope you're feeling somewhat better? How exciting that you have your scan soon! Will this be your first scan? I'm already itching for mine and I have ages 😂
I definitely think I'm in the extreme hunger phase. Constantly wanting to eat! Haha

@purplefig I've always wanted to go to Rome and Florence, but I know it involves a lot of walking, so not sure if I'll be struggling by then. Wales will be lovely, it has some great beaches and such a relaxing time away I'm sure. Enjoy!
Thanks, I'm trying not to worry too much!
Haha I'll take that on board. Currently sitting with a punnet of grapes at work to stop me grabbing some crisps/biscuits Grin

LikeTheFruit · 19/08/2019 12:52

@LokiCat I hope so too! Yes this will be my first scan. It'll have been a very long 2 months by the time it come around!! Enjoy the hunger while it's only that! Do you think you'll have an early scan?

LokiCat · 19/08/2019 13:11

@LikeTheFruit oh wow, well done for holding out! I hope the scan goes well. Yeah, we're thinking of getting a scan around 8/9 weeks, so probably mid September. I won't be able to hold off til October. I'd be a worried mess!

ELW85 · 19/08/2019 13:13

@purplefig - it definitely feels more real! How are you doing today?

@LokiCat - I was just really tired until between wk6-7, then food aversion hit me which occasionally turns into feeling nauseous all day. I’ve only felt the ‘need’ to be sick once but the majority of the time I’m forcing myself to eat as I just don’t feel hungry for anything.

MrsR16 · 19/08/2019 13:24

@ELW85 it was a good weekend, aside from all my cadets getting soaked yesterday! It rained solidly for about an hour, but then it brightened up and they were dry again before they knew it! Next time they'll take waterproofs with them 😂

@cupcakesandglitter thanks Hun! It's going ok at the moment, but I'm hoping more work will get generated as I'm finding stuff to do rather than actually being busy haha 😂 it'll work out! I hope you get a proper appetite back soon... xx

@LokiCat thanks lovely! It's not too bad atm 😊 I was lucky and didn't suffer with food aversions! It might not kick in at all.

@LikeTheFruit good to hear from you! Your scan will be here before you know it 😊 it's so exciting!

MrsEG · 19/08/2019 15:48

@ELW85 @PippaPug @MrsR16 @purplefig Thanks, had a right little sob when they all turned up with it! Apparently they are also already planning my baby shower haha, so eager. Any excuse for a party though with my bunch!

@PippaPug Oh bless you! Has the midwife put you on more folic acid for the twins? I was on 500 rather than 400 up to 12 weeks and now just back on a prenatal (mainly as I still had a bunch of it in the cupboard) and yep, I always take mine with breakfast!

@MrsR16 hope your long day is almost over! Monday’s really are the hardest aren’t they?!

@cupcakesandglitter I hope so; I honestly can’t wait to feel them! I mentioned I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to judge which twin was moving/figure out each of their individual kick patterns, but the midwives assured me I would - she just said once it happens, it’ll be obvious - and they often kick each other! Perhaps that’s what they mean by wrestling!! Oh I highly recommend pizza when you’re craving beige, just go for something really plain!

@purplefig Tips as in how to make sure you make the most of it? Honestly, for me on holidays I always make sure I don’t do too much and use some of it for actual rest! Have some really good lie ins and really enjoy them. We often have holiday rule that for every day we have something planned (excursion etc) the next day we have nothing planned and just sleep in, wander aimlessly, etc. I love it!

@LokiCat I didn’t feel any different at all until about 6-7 weeks; remember too that not everyone will get every single pregnancy symptom. You could have no food aversions at all! Some people absolutely sail through.

I am exhausted today, falling asleep at my desk. I’m finishing at 4 and even these next 12 mins I feel may finish me off! Straight to bed tonight; the dog can be walked tomorrow!!

LokiCat · 19/08/2019 16:11

@ELW85 @MrsR16 @MrsEG thanks ladies. I guess I didn't even think about the fact that I may not even get all of the same symptoms!

Hope you all manage some rest this evening - it's definitely been a busy and tiring Monday!! I'm luckily on the train home now with an episode of Killing Eve to keep me awake!

purplefig · 19/08/2019 17:38

@LokiCat I've been to Rome and I do recall doing a lot of walking, but the public transport is pretty decent too. The lakes are gorgeous for more of a chill out holiday though, and depending on which one you go to you could always day trip into a city e.g. Milan. You enjoy those grapes!!

@LikeTheFruit super impressed you've managed to hold out until your 12 week scan! Sorry to hear you've had a rough week, if it's any consolation - many people do start to feel a bit better after 12 weeks. I'm 15 weeks today and other than tired, I feel pretty much normal again.

@ELW85 I'm good thank you lovely. I love Monday's as it's the day I move up a week - so I'm officially 15 weeks today and my app tells me the baby is the size of an avocado which is pretty cool. How're you doing today?

@MrsEG Oooo I like that tip - one day of sightseeing/activities, one day of chilling. I'm just worried because it's a big family thing we'll end up feeling pressured into doing everything, and I really am so easily worn out at the moment it's unreal! Speaking of which, enjoy your early night.
