@Jesskir89 10+1 based on rough dates and earlier scans but scanner thought at least 10+3 possibly more but poor angle for measuring! Was only really for reassurance today before I pay for the nipty on Thursday.

Jesskir89 · 12/08/2019 15:12

This time next week I will of had my 12 week scan!! Nervous, scared, excited to tell my little girl and little man although he won’t really understand my little girl ( 6 ) will be over the moon 😍xx

DerbyshireGirly · 12/08/2019 15:23

Had my booking appointment with midwife today. Was really worried about the blood tests as I've had a huge needle phobia and refused all blood tests and vaccinations for years, but really want to take every test and jab now for my baby's sake. I don't know what I've been working myself up over for so long, it was absolutely nothing to worry about. I used some Emla cream and couldn't feel a thing. I asked her if she'd started yet and she'd already taken two vials! So if anybody else is feeling like I was, Emla cream is a serious game changer. I feel on top of the world now Smile and really looking forward to 12 week scan.

Naylor19 · 12/08/2019 15:25

ineedanotherholiday · 12/08/2019 15:40

I'm due 31 March (mil birthday) by my date of lmp, I thought it would be 29th as I was measuring a bit ahead by my scan today. Maths has never been my strong point though HmmGrin

Naylor19 · 12/08/2019 15:50

@Brandygirl27 try and keep busy! I'm already counting down to the 12 week point! 😂 I'm going Milan this weekend so that will kill a week of waiting 🙊 only 5+5 weeks to go for me 🙈 x

Brandygirl27 · 12/08/2019 15:58

@Naylor19 Yepp I know aww wow lovely enjoy :) awww tbh when I had that long that’s gone pretty quick and now it’s only a week it’s gonna be the longest week ever 🙈😂I feel much worse now than I did 4/5 weeks ago too, crazy hey!! X

Naylor19 · 12/08/2019 16:02

@Brandygirl27 I can imagine the whole pregnancy will feel long to me! I'll be glad when it's over and baba is here safe and sound ☺️ until then we need to enjoy it as much as we can! x

Brandygirl27 · 12/08/2019 16:06

@Naylor19 you’ll be surprised how quick it does go really, enjoy it it’s magical what our bodies can do hey x

Keyboard91 · 12/08/2019 16:13

It’s really hard go motivate yourself when feeling so rubbish. It’s less than 3 weeks until I go back to work and I have a massive list of things to get done so need to start soon ... I’ve just stared at the bag all day 🤦‍♀️ I literally feel like my brain is made of jelly 🤦‍♀️ How I’m going to cope with 3 training days and then a full teaching timetable + extra curricular commitments and duties come Sept I don’t know 😢 atm I’m down to teach a-level which I’ve never taught before (and my subject knowledge needs a big refresh) but brain says no to being used 🤦‍♀️

Moan over(!)

Naylor19 · 12/08/2019 16:16

@Keyboard91 don't worry I feel as though I'm completely unprepared also! I'm back in for training next Friday and kids go back Tuesday after and I literally feel like I've done nothing. I'm taking my new role as an instructor too so ive got so much to do but I can't even bring myself too! I'm hoping now I've got all clear my brain will switch back on but I feel like all I can think about is babies welfare! I work in a special school too so it's added stress in terms of trying to keep protected against any of our more challenging children.

I'm sure we'll both get there! x

Keyboard91 · 12/08/2019 16:54

@Naylor19 I go back for training 28th-30th for training but have to go in afternoon of 27th as we have to pack our classrooms up for the holidays so they can be used for summer school so I have to unpack heavy boxes 🤦‍♀️. Then the Monday after my 6 day weeks start ... I HATE Saturday school!!! Luckily I don’t have to worry about the sorts of challenging outbursts you will no doubt have to, they just like to work us into the ground with extra curriculars and duties as it’s a private boarding school. I think it’ll be a shock to our systems! I’m most worried at the moment about nausea/sickness during training as there will be 200 of us shoved into a lecture theatre for 3 days straight(!). I think I’ll be okay mentally once the kids return as I’m in control of more of my day then🤞What does the instructor role involve? I agreed to lead a new qualification from Sept on top of my (unpaid) TLR 🤦‍♀️

Jesskir89 · 12/08/2019 16:58

@Naylor19 mad how we had the same last period but I'm at 8 weeks 3 days and you're not 7 weeks yet... I must have ovulated early and you late lol. @Brandygirl27 excited for next week for you! :) @ineedanotherholiday I thought the same but you're always around 2 weeks ahead as they go off your last period date so I'm 8 weeks 3 days now but this time 8 weeks ago I was on my period so wasn't pregnant then. It's weird how they work it out

Naylor19 · 12/08/2019 17:07

@Keyboard91 oh no! When will you tell work? Make sure you don't over do it. I have to tell work as soon as I'm back due to the risk factor, as I'll no longer be able to perform holds. Wow I don't think I could do a 6 day week! You must be really good at your role to be given extra responsibilities :) Instructor is basically an unqualified teacher, I've only been at the school since January as a TA I took a pay cut from a cover supervisor role in a main stream school. So it's nice to be valued and given a higher role again. Just feel bad now I'm pregnant but hey ho, these things happen x

@Jesskir89 I know it's crazy! I think I must of ovulated really late!! Just glad the little bean is doing ok ☺️

Keyboard91 · 12/08/2019 17:15

@Naylor19 I will tell HR officially once the kids return. I have a disability (rare neuromuscular disease) so I will need an updated risk assessment and evacuation plan and will need to not do lunch duties etc. Don’t feel bad, honestly, schools have to and will continue without you - it helps me feel less guilty when I have to take time off! I’ll be leaving 2 months before exams start and I have 2 exam classes ... but that’s not my worry! I think I know who my cover will be (she retired last month and joked she’d be back to cover maternity to me as she knew about my MCs) and I trust her so that will help. Then I have to go back for Sept so I don’t miss that much term time really. Are you aiming to qualify as a teacher in the future?

OP posts:
Jesskir89 · 12/08/2019 17:18

@Naylor19 absolutely! I bet your dh was over the moon too :) @keyboard91 you won't get much time off then will you?

Keyboard91 · 12/08/2019 17:20

@Jesskir89 will have to go back when baby is around 5months. I will only get statutory (private schools don’t like equalling state school pay and benefits) and as I earn the main income we can’t afford to live on £145 a week. It’ll bite them in the bum as I’m sure my attendance/productivity/ability to do all the extras will be pretty poor but they give me no choice so they will just have to deal with it!

OP posts:
Naylor19 · 12/08/2019 17:42

@Keyboard91 I think in one way it's good to tell them earlier, at least that way they can be more understanding. My school is quite good at stuff like this, and I think I know who'll cover me while I'm gone and she's great too. Yes, at some point I will. The schools offered to pay for me to do the assessment only route if I want to take it up, which I think I will in a few more years. I too only get statutory pay after 6 weeks off maternity but luckily DH and I have been saving for a while and have a little nest egg ready so I can still take 9 months leave. Which is lucky, otherwise I also wouldn't of been able to afford it being the main earner in the house x

@Jesskir89 he is, and he can't wait for Wednesday now! Trying to describe the sound of the heartbeat just doesn't do it justice! I can't wait for him to hear it ☺️ x

Keyboard91 · 12/08/2019 18:32

@Naylor19 it’s a great profession. Hard, very hard, but it’s really rewarding. Will it qualify you for just SEN teaching or? We’ve got some money saved but we don’t want to touch it as it’s there for a new house once we’ve had our first child. Our current house has stairs and I can struggle with stairs because of my neuromuscular disease so we need to buy a bungalow or something with an extra room downstairs I can sleep in if necessary etc. and the extra money boosts the offered mortgage offer by quite a bit! Houses that suit our needs are much more expensive than our current one. It’s there if I really can’t go back but financially Sept works best as will get full pay for the Summer.

Jesskir89 · 12/08/2019 18:41

@keyboard91 we were lucky that because we were due ivf we had already planned way ahead and saved enough for me to have 9 months off. At least if you stick to normal hours your days won't be too long. @Naylor19 if they let you, you should record it :) @barnyb how you doing?

Naylor19 · 12/08/2019 18:42

@Keyboard91 I'm not 100% sure I'd need to discuss it with them properly. But I love the school I'm working at currently, it's a farm school so we have a working farm, and only 35 children in total so the class sizes are lovely. Don't get me wrong, it can be extremely demanding but I much prefer it to mainstream! Oh bless you, I completely get that. We've just finally staircased to a 100% of our new build home but it's only a 2 bed so at some point we know we'll need to move into something bigger. It makes sense to do that if it means pay over summer! Will you do your keeping in touch days before the summer holidays? I think I'll go back after Christmas if possible.
