@MrsEG oh thank god!!! You don't know how pleased I am to hear that 😂😩 ah your poor sister bless her, but I'm glad yours has been nowhere near as awful! Ooh yes, black beans 🤤 xx

Bettythecat · 10/08/2019 12:38

@cupcakesandglitter if it's any consolation I didn't have any proper sickness only a very vaguely queasy day here and there so you might be lucky!

Just been for another scan 🤦‍♀️ single handedly keeping Babybond in business 😂

At a wedding today and struggling a bit with the food. It's a Sikh wedding and they're not serving alcohol which is handy, but these delicious looking curries which I would normally devour at speed are making me feel nauseous. Just naan for me! 😂

cupcakesandglitter · 10/08/2019 14:09

Hopefully @Bettythecat 😊 beautiful scan pic xx

Oh @daisiesandpeonies Asian food is so good too, shame that you can't eat it but I'm glad the naan is helping!! X

MrsEG · 10/08/2019 14:17

@cupcakesandglitter I could be wrong but I think if you’ve made it to 6 weeks without being sick HG is really unlikely too, it tends to come on very early! Fingers crossed :)

@Bettythecat Fabulous scan! Was that your 16 week one? Did they have any guesses on the sex if so?

@daisiesandpeonies Oh bless you, I understand I can’t go near anything spicy at all. Have they got rice? I could eat plain rice by the bucket load!!

Fivebyfive2 · 10/08/2019 14:33

Hi ladies! Happy Weekend 😀

@bettythecat, what a fantastic scan picture!! How far along are you now? Are you around the 15 weeks mark? I'm about 18 weeks now and sooo tempted to have another one as our NHS one is still almost 3 weeks away! Will probably hold out now though. Xxx

@cupcakesandglitter, fingers crossed no sickness for you! Xx

@MrsEG, enjoy your burrito this evening! Is your treasure hunt today or is that tomorrow? I'd love to do one, my work keeps saying about doing it as team building thing. Let me know if you'd recommend!

I'm in full on organised mode, dh looks positively shaken by my determination to sort, file and dispose of our clutter. I suggested we get a cheap wardrobe for the utility room (for coats, shoes etc) as we need to go get one for the baby room anyway... In other words, IKEA trip! He is absolutely mortified 😂

cupcakesandglitter · 10/08/2019 14:36

@MrsEG 😁 fingers crossed!!! Xx

@Fivebyfive2 18 weeks?! Where the hell has that time gone! IKEA trips are ALWAYS so fun! Enjoy 😊😊 x

Bettythecat · 10/08/2019 14:50

@MrsEG @Fivebyfive2 I'm 14+5 but have been having a bit of an anxious week baby wise and DH said he would pay for one as a bit of a sorry for blurting the news to people last weekend so I went for it! I have to say they are so amazing- the sonographers are just brilliant and you get so many photos and even videos. We saw the baby moving it's mouth to drink the amniotic fluid (who knew?!) and have that on video too! Worth every penny- I'd go every week if I could 😂. I did ask about the sex but it's too early apparently- I did think I saw a little willy a couple of times but as DH said if they could tell they would have told us! We had planned to have one at around 17 weeks for the sex but since I've just had one I'll see how I feel closer to the time. Im hoping when I "pop" a bit I'll worry less (but then I'll probably just worry that I haven't felt movement yet or something!!).

@Fivebyfive2 the baby stuff in Ikea is really cute too! They have some nice cots and changing stations etc- worth a look when you're in there. They also have a good case selection at the moment!

@daisiesandpeonies Mmmm curry!! I could eat that now!! Bet the naans are good too! Sorry that you don't get to enjoy it to the fullest though 😔

Bettythecat · 10/08/2019 14:51

*vase not case!

daisiesandpeonies · 10/08/2019 15:06

They had pashwari (I've no doubt spelt that wrong) naan - the sweet one which was great. Had a bit of potato curry with rice 😋 Fingers crossed it stays down....

MrsEG · 10/08/2019 15:09

@Fivebyfive2 It was supposed to be but the weather today is terrible so saving it for next weekend (hopefully!) DH got them from this company, he said it was like a fiver and then you download it but we did one before when we were alphabet dating before the wedding and it was loads of fun! Enjoy all the organising - I personally love an IKEA trip! Have also been told they do the best high chair on the market :)

@Bettythecat Oh bless you! I’m the opposite - I’m having lots of scans but sometimes they make me a bit more anxious, I find it really nerve wrecking especially when sat in the waiting room for them! But whatever calms your nerves - hopefully once you get to 20 weeks you’ll feel like it’s all plain sailing :)

LikeTheFruit · 10/08/2019 15:24

Hi everyone. Hope you're all well this Saturday 😊

I find it so interesting the variety in symptoms especially those related to nausea and appetite. I've been vomiting virtually every morning for the past 3 weeks but I've not gone off any good and could literally eat anything put in front of me! I think my nausea is related to having low blood sugar - one rice eaten I feel 100x better.

@daisiesandpeonies Hope you enjoy the wedding and very jealous of all the curries on offer!

@Bettythecat lovely scan pic! Glad it was reassuring for you!

I've still got nearly 3 weeks until my first scan and I'm 10+1 today. Can't wait to finally see if there's anything in there or if I've just imagined it all 😂😂.

Took a trip to M&S this week for bra fitting and I'm already up 2 cup sizes!

Bettythecat · 10/08/2019 16:04

@MrsEG it's so funny isn't it- what's reassuring for one is the opposite for someone else! I found the first few unbelievably nerve wracking I must say after the mc earlier this year but they are getting easier- hopefully it will be the same for you.

@LikeTheFruit I know I agree with the symptoms thing! I've really had none of the "typical" symptoms like going off foods or enhanced smell or vomiting yet some others have it pretty much constantly! I hear you on the boob front- I'm now wearing a 34D and that's beginning to feel small!! I didn't even wear a bra on my wedding day that's how manageable my boobs used to be! My nipples have completely changed too- they are so much bigger now and have got those funny bumps on them!

LikeTheFruit · 10/08/2019 16:32

@Bettythecat I'm pretty much the same. No bra on wedding day either. Now a 32D, with swollen bumpy nips! DH is loving it! 😂😂

purplefig · 10/08/2019 16:34

Speaking of bras - I measured myself using that supposedly quite reputable "a bra that fits" calculator, and I appear to have gone from a 32D to a 32FF 🙀 no wonder I'm spilling out of all my bras. We're going to pop into m&s tomorrow so I can pick up a few - any recommendations for styles??

@Bettythecat fab scan pic! Proper little baby in there :)

@MrsEG @Fivebyfive2 we've also heard good things about the high chair and snapped one up on our last Ikea trip. Only £12 too! Only thing we've got so far 🤣 really need to start putting together a list.

@daisiesandpeonies ahhh such a shame that you'd usually love all that food! At least it's no alcohol though - that makes thing easy.

@ELW85 glad the lion king was good, shame about the kitchen not getting your steak order right twice though! You think they'd understand, most come across it lots.

@LikeTheFruit I'm sure the chances are pretty high if you haven't had a period, have a positive test and are vomiting every morning! Not to mention the rapidly expanding boobs 🤣 what type of bra did you go for? I've got the m&s lace bralettes, but worried they'll no longer offer enough support 😕

How's everyone's weekend going? Had a lovely time with some friends, going to have a super chilled out rest of the day now. Think tomorrow it'll be an m&s bra mission + big dog walk.

BostonFern · 10/08/2019 17:15

Hi ladies!
Just got back from a week in the middle of Dartmoor, no internet or phone reception so I'm a bit behind.
@Fivebyfive2 good luck with Ikea, we went yesterday after getting back from holiday-no rest for the wicked! Make sure you check the Ikea Family kiosks for vouchers if you're a member, we had a £20 off £140 spend voucher which was handy as we were picking up a few bits for the nursery and living room.
@Bettythecat that's a lovely scan photo!
I'm 24+3 now, tired today but mostly enjoying this stage of pregnancy, particularly feeling and seeing baby move-I'm still amazed by it!

stormtrooperjulian · 10/08/2019 18:03

@PippaPug at my 12 week scan I was in for about 30 minutes having various measurements taken including the nuchal fold measurement then I went off for blood tests. I wouldn't have wanted to go without DH just in case the nuchal fold measurement or something else looked bad.

@cupcakesandglitter when a baby is small it shouldn't be in a car seat for more than 30 minutes at a time which is a downside of those car seat on wheels type prams

@Bettythecat lovely scan pic!

@daisiesandpeonies such a shame you couldn't eat all the lovely curries, I'm so jealous of you being there, I really want curry now!

@LikeTheFruit @purplefig the 'boob or bust' method for bra sizing is supposed to be very good, I've used that and it seems accurate. I'd trust that over M&S measuring any day, have had bad experiences with them!
I went up a bra size a month for 5 months, am 32H now and they seemed to stop growing at 5 months thank god. Although I assume they'll get bigger again when the milk comes in!

We had planned several outdoor things for the weekend but now the weather is so bad we've done pretty much nothing.... I spent a few hours lying on the sofa with the cat (the baby kept kicking him but he didn't seem to mind) and then I baked a cake. Not my most productive day!

Bettythecat · 10/08/2019 19:53

Thanks ladies 💕

@purplefig I've got one of their non-underwired bras but it's still quite pretty with lace on. I think getting at least one non-underwired one is the way to go. I also got a pack of two wired ones for £20 as thought it wouldn't be too much of an expense if I grow out of them quickly. Also lots of people swear by the lace bra crop tops they do for £9.50! Somehow they don't fit me properly but lots of people love them!

Ladies I've just had a proper cry because the antenatal class I wanted to sign up to in my area has sold out and all other second best options are on dates we can't do. I'm completely gutted as was really relying on the class to make some friends in the area and get a mums WhatsApp group going. I know I'm probably being ridiculous but I don't have any pregnant friends or really know many people in this bit of London and now I just feel so upset. Poor DH somehow managed to get the blame (definitely wasn't his fault!!).

purplefig · 10/08/2019 21:06

@stormtrooperjulian that one puts me at 30GG 🙀 surely not?!?!? Wasn't planning on getting measured at m&s (don't rate them either) - just trying on some various sizes. Apparently they go huge and rock hard when your milk comes in (engorged?) but that doesn't last forever. Tbh that sounds like a lovely day! Does that mean the snazzy kitchen is all finished now?

@Bettythecat I've got a couple of the lace bralets and I really rate them. Just after a couple of more structured bras. Sorry to hear the classes are booked up - is it nct? That's booked up so far in advance if so! There are other ways to meet other pregnant women e.g. pregnancy yoga class, and afterwards at baby groups etc., but totally get why you're disappointed. Could you rearrange any of your commitments so you can make the other dates?

Jessikka · 10/08/2019 21:50

Hi Ladies. Remember me? I've been quiet for a month but have popped back on after getting my BFP this afternoon!
Lovely seeing the familiar names and glad all is going well for you ladies!

LikeTheFruit · 10/08/2019 22:08

@Jessikka hi!! Oh I'm absolutely delighted for you. I've often thought about you as we were always close cycle wise. ❤️❤️

Jessikka · 10/08/2019 22:12

@likethefruit thankyou! It hasn't sunk in!
I've lurked for the last month on some of the threads and wanted to see how people are but havent posted as would be here hours otherwise! I had a break from it all. No opk. No bbt. Nothing and now here we are! 3+5!

PippaPug · 10/08/2019 23:17

@MrsEG @Bettythecat @stormtrooperjulian

Thank you for your helpful advice RE 12 weeks scan, we have decided that husband should come along partly because what you all said about it being a more detailed medical scan but also partly because it looks like we are having twins 😱😱😱

We are both shocked/happy/confused and all the other emotions which go along side with pregnancy, the scan didn’t help with my anxiety, I was hoping knowing that baby was ok I would settle down, but found out there was two and it’s thrown us a bit! No twins in our family at all so very unexpected, hoping in a day or so it will sink in.

I’m having my booking appointment on Tuesday so will mention it then and see what the next step is

Hope everyone had a lovely Saturday!

cupcakesandglitter · 11/08/2019 07:34

Ahh @stormtrooperjulian thankyou, I didn't know that! That one is firmly crossed off my list 😂 x

Oh no @Bettythecat that's a shame, are there any slightly out of area you could attend? Sorry I'm not sure how it works x

Congrats @Jessikka x

@PippaPug Oh my god!!! Congrats!! Twins!! What a lovely surprise xx

MrsEG · 11/08/2019 07:59

Re: all the boob chat; I’ve been in crop tops for a few weeks (I can’t bear my bras at the mo) and when I woke up this morning first thing DH said was ‘Hoooolllly shit those things are enormous’ - I’ve no idea what size they are but as others have said, on my wedding day I didn’t wear a bra at all I’m usually quite a small 32B/C!
Oh and re: your milk coming in - it’s insane; my sister called them her ‘Dolly Parton tits’ it happened a few weeks after birth. I couldn’t believe my eyes! She didn’t even wear a bra for a few weeks as they were sore and just wore loose t-shirts - she now swears by H&M nursing bras

@LikeTheFruit Sorry to hear about the morning vomiting! I actually feel at my best first thing and start feeling ropey in the evening. Could you keep some crackers or something next to the bed?

@purplefig I’ve started on a list - basically asking my sister to send me her list of absolute must haves, then nice to haves and ‘you literally don’t need this at all’ which has been handy! But yes she really rated the IKEA high chair a lot and I see great reviews online too.

@Bettythecat Sorry to hear that :( Please Don’t worry though there’s plenty of other options for making mum friends - my sister has made 2 really good new friends across her baby sensory and toddlers group she goes to, they even all went to each other’s kids birthday parties etc and meet quite a lot to all go swimming etc. There’s millions of groups you can join to meet people in the same boat (if it makes you feel any better, she also hated the NCT classes and no longer speaks to any of the people from her group!! So it’s not the be all and end all)

@Jessikka Congratulations!

@PippaPug Waahhh congrats! More twins! It’s a very big shock on finding out isn’t it?! Did they say what type of twins you’re having?
