@TrashKitten10 thanks lovely- yeah I tried to laugh it off but its hurtful when it's your best mates somehow- I wouldn't dream of giving people advice on how to do things so don't get why they think they can! @MrsEG agree that it seems that everyone thinks they can comment- think I'll just keep it all to myself in future (we'll share it with you guys of course!) 😉

@Fivebyfive2 totally agree- I was thinking exactly that- we've already had our bad luck thank you so can't you just let me be happy without implying me buying a pram is somehow going to bring on a miscarriage 🤦‍♀️😫. Enjoy your appointment- let us know how it goes and what it consists of- I'm intrigued!

@purplefig haha great advice!! Lovely scan pictures too 😊

@stormtrooperjulian I'd like to use reusable nappies too! Have been researching them. There is a blogger called The Frugality who did a post on them recently- might be worth a look if you're still in the research stages?

Had such a weird pregnant day yesterday- having had no sickness at all I spent the whole day feeling so sick and wiped out- retching in the morning and throwing up in my mouth in the afternoon 🤮. Was in bed by 9:30 convinced I'd somehow got listeria or something! Don't envy you girls who have had to put up with it all the way through!

On the subject of gender pics- I noticed that my pregnancy app has two pics of what they are looking for on the scan. I'll attach them below so you can see- the second one shows the balls and willy and the other is the three lines for the girl! Both pics are taken from underneath which I think is the shot they try to get.

@stormtrooperjulian I want one of those changing mats that you put on top of the crib and can put away again when it's not needed! Baby facing towards you rather than sideways has to be easier right?

@purplefig I'm thrilled everything's ok! I absolutely get your anxiety pre-scan... I'm starting to panic about tomorrow even though I'm feeling baby move every day (absolutely magical) and I know everything is great!

@MrsEG sorry to hear you're feeling rough at the moment... I promise it does get better! I'm still tired but that's because I do too much outside of work 😂

@Bettythecat goodness you sound like you've had a rough day too!!

MrsEG · 30/07/2019 13:13

@purplefig @Bettythecat Interesting! I didn’t want to find out originally but now it’s two I do, I feel like I need to know what combo I’m having! Also harder for choosing names. We have three girls and 2 boys we like but not all of them go together (as an example, we like Cora for a girl and Cillian for a boy but put together sounds like a weird family band). I had a friend who didn’t want to know the sex but her in-laws paid for a 4D scan when she was in her third tri and as soon as the scanner touched her belly a penis filled the screen! Oh well - she said it was still an exciting way to find out haha!

@Bettythecat That sounds awful - last night was the closest I’ve come to actually being sick, was rolling around in bed feeling sorry for myself. I don’t do too bad in the day but after about 5/6pm I’m awful. @MrsR16 I’m clinging on to your reassurance it’ll pass soon haha! Is it your 20 week scan tomorrow?

purplefig · 30/07/2019 13:27

@Bettythecat thank you, it was a really lovely experience. Sorry to hear you had such a rough day of it yesterday, that sounds so grim. Try and take it easy today! Cool pics - but never seen anything like them before! I wonder if that's just how they try and get a look and don't actually take a pic of it?!

@MrsR16 ahh it must be so amazing to feel them kicking - when did that kick (haha) in? All the best for tomorrow - keep us posted.

@MrsEG family band, hahaha! I'm far too curious to wait. Love love love the name Cora too...plenty of female and male names it could go with. So funny about your friends experience - what a shock!

daisiesandpeonies · 30/07/2019 15:39

@cupcakesandglitter glad everything is OK 🎉 They're really good in the early pregnancy unit aren't they? Hope you're feeling more relaxed now 😃
@MrsEG & @Bettythecat Sorry to hear you're feeling unwell 🤢 It's no fun at all and the evenings are the worst!
I've just had my first midwife visit and I'm so confused now she has gone. Never been given so many leaflets in my life. She says I'm 10+ weeks, which just doesn't seem right. The online NHS due date calculator which takes into account my long cycle length puts me at 8 weeks. I mean, if the wheel thing she had works around the average cycle of 4 weeks, then wouldn't it make sense to take away 2 weeks from that for someone with a 6 week cycle like me? She also started to talk about mediation, hypno-birthing and the low risk delivery suite... we have months to go yet but I already know I want an epidural, gas and air, and anything else they've got going, possibly even an elective c section if they offer it in my ccg. She put 'undecided' on my notes and told me to do some research 😂

BabySquid · 30/07/2019 16:03

@daisiesandpeonies tell me about it! She put me further along than I am because of my longer cycles!! Also... totally agree on the epidural etc. I've said that from day one!!

purplefig · 30/07/2019 16:10

@daisiesandpeonies Did you tell her you knew when you ovulated / had longer cycles? I explained that to mine and she adjusted.

@daisiesandpeonies @BabySquid I guess they have a lot of experience and expertise in this area, whereas it's all new to first time mums. So they're probably just making sure that you do your own research and read up on the risks associated with various interventions etc. Sorry if I sound defensive, I have a couple of midwife friends [grins] .

cupcakesandglitter · 30/07/2019 16:25

@MrsEG I'll ask her and get back to you!! Don't let people dishearten you honestly, you can do it 💪🏽 x

Omg @Bettythecat I never knew that!! Sorry you've had a rough day. Fx it's just a blip! X

@daisiesandpeonies they're brilliant!!! I've read so many horror stories about the NHS but the ladies were lovely and super reassuring - I've got bloods again tomorrow because my hCG is 157 so super early and then hopefully an early scan next week eeeek!! X

purplefig · 30/07/2019 16:37

@daisiesandpeonies @BabySquid my grin didn't work!! Blush Grin

MrsEG · 30/07/2019 16:41

@purplefig I know; it’s weird as I suppose all people who go on to have a second child probably have to think about if both names ‘match’ too, it’s just something I’ve not really factored in before! DH is Irish and loves loads of long complicated Irish names that I cant even spell let along pronounce so they’re all getting Vito’d at the moment (poor kids will grow up in Manchester - won’t someone think of the children!)

@daisiesandpeonies Don’t worry too much - at the 12 week dating scan they’ll sort all that out; just means you may have that scan a bit early. I was bombarded with info too, it can be super overwhelming but at this early stage there are still so many options available to us and who knows if you may change your mind on certain things over the next few months! And if you don’t, excellent and you can confirm it all in your birth plan :) I’d love an ELCS - don’t really fancy pushing out two haha!

@cupcakesandglitter Thank you lovely. Great news they are repeating your bloods and keeping a close eye on you!

I’ve had a letter from my midwife saying I need to repeat my urine test so fairly sure I have a UTI. Excellent! More pills to add to the mix haha. Damn twins wreaking havoc already!

purplefig · 30/07/2019 17:10

@MrsEG hahaha on twinnies, mama's got your back! Time to crack open the baby name books? DH and I have pretty different preferred styles of names too e.g. for girls he likes overly feminine pretty names, whereas I like girl's names that sound like they could be part of an east end gang. Also sorry to hear you think you've got a UTI, they are the absolute pits. Do not remotely blame you on wanting an ELCS for twins! I've heard of people pushing one out and then it spinning the other one around into the wrong position. Damn twins indeed! Grin

daisiesandpeonies · 30/07/2019 17:14

@cupcakesandglitter I've been so happy with every experience I've had at our Hospital so far in this pregnancy, can't fault it.
@purplefig I suppose she doesn't want me locking anything in cement before I've had a chance to really think about it, I'm still with @BabySquid on epidural, but all being well I've got 7 months to change my mind! I know a couple of midwives too (they scare me 😂)
@MrsEG the reason I'm tempted by ELCS is because DH is a giant unit of a human and apparently his mother was in the final stage of labour for hours and had to have a ventouse delivery; his head was the biggest the midwife had ever seen. I'm 5"2! And my mother has a weak cervix and ended up needing an emergency transfusion during labour because of the blood loss. Too many horror stories 😱😱😱 I'm scared of a combo of those labours!

purplefig · 30/07/2019 17:23

@daisiesandpeonies it's completely understandable why you're scared of labour - that is a lot of traumatic experiences. At the end of the day, it's 100% down to you and you know what's best for you. I guess it's worth just doing your own independent research to make sure you're fully informed. E.g It could be worth watching a couple of positive/calm births to get a difference perspective on what you've heard. Right I'll stop rabbiting on!!!

Fivebyfive2 · 30/07/2019 17:57

Hi all! It's been busy on here today!! Sorry if miss anyone...

@MrsEG, I wouldn't be surprised if they offer a c section as you're having twins?! Definitely get the baby name book out! Maybe once you know the combo it will be easier to decide? Xx

@purplefig, ha ha I love your comment about East end gang names!! That sounds like an awesome criteria for names to me 😀

@bettythecat, hope you feel better soon!! Xx

@daisiesandpeonies, while I haven't made any birth decisions yet, my mil constantly telling the story of how dh was 10.5 pound is not helping 😂 Although apparently I 'just plopped out' so there is always the other side I guess!! Xx

16 week apt was fine. Did blood pressure, wee sample etc. She did lpick up babies heartbeat 😀 Although she did say they often don't manage to get it at this stage with their equipment so to anyone who doesn't hear it at 16 weeks please do not worry!! Xx

@Bostonfern, apparently my 20 week scan is at heartlands because of my medical history, they want me to go to the specialist unit their. If all is OK I'll be back good hope for any others, but could possibly end up just being under Heartlands. We'll see!! How are you getting on? Xx

cupcakesandglitter · 30/07/2019 18:12

@purplefig please explain the east end names, I'm intrigued 😂😂😁

@daisiesandpeonies I don't blame you either 😂 DH was a big baby too but I think it's just because his mum's diabetic... I think I'd prefer it too if he had his dads fat head, I feel bad for his mum 😂😂

@Fivebyfive2 awww how lovely that you heard the heartbeat ❤️ they're okay at heartlands! Mums had a couple of my siblings there, but fx you get back to good hope, much closer!! Xx

@MrsEG sorry about your UTI, they're the worst 😖 x

MrsR16 · 30/07/2019 18:15

@MrsEG yes it is! Can't believe I'm halfway through already!

@purplefig 12th July I thought "ooh, could that be?" And it hasn't stopped dancing ever since! It's a really weird sensation 😂

MrsC87 · 30/07/2019 19:59

Evening Ladies, just wanted to stop by to say hello! Charlie is 3 weeks old today 🥰 we're doing okay but the lack of sleep is something else 💤😴
Hope everyone is okay, I haven't been on for a while so will take some time catching up!
Congrats to any new BFP's 🥳

Here's a pic of my Charlie Boy 💙

Catching up with those from TTC thread 5!
cupcakesandglitter · 30/07/2019 20:09

Oh my god @MrsC87 how beautiful 😭❤️

MrsR16 · 30/07/2019 20:41

@MrsC87 Charlie looks so handsome!! Beautiful baby boy 😊 xx

MrsEG · 31/07/2019 05:55

@MrsC87 Gorgeous! He’s a beauty. How are you holding up? Whenever I ask my sister about the lack of sleep she just says it doesn’t get better, you just get used to it haha!

@MrsR16 Good luck today lovely I bet baby will look so different now and so much bigger!

@Fivebyfive2 I may pick up a baby name book in a few weeks - I did manage to get a non-Irish name on the table last night so we have a few more options haha! I don’t think any of them will feel ‘real’ though until we know what we’re having. Have you thought of any names yet? Glad your appt went well! Not long til the 20 week scan - bet it suddenly feels like it’s flying by!

@purplefig East end gang, I love it! It’s so hard when you actually sit down to think about it together isn’t it?! One of the names DH loved for a boy was Enda?! I’d never even heard of it!

@daisiesandpeonies Oh gosh, it’s horrible when you hear of bad labours and deliveries isn’t it! My mum reckons she had no bother and in her own words ‘shelled us like peas’ but I have friends who’ve had real horror stories. And those are the only stories you can remember haha! They’ll keep an eye on your babies growth throughout though - my sister was assisted as her daughter was getting very big and they thought if they’d let her go over she’d have a 10lb baby - in the end she had a sweep on her due date which worked and her baby was 8lb 15. Still big but not enormous! They’d have induced if the sweep hadn’t worked. So rest assured they do keep an eye on that for you these days :)

MrsR16 · 31/07/2019 06:55

@MrsEG thanks Hun! I'm so excited to see our little person again 😊 I think DH has finally let it sink in that this is happening now. His face when he feels baby kick is just amazing - I fall in love all over again!

Fivebyfive2 · 31/07/2019 07:32

@MrsEG, I have a few hat I like but dh doesn't want to commit yet! My top 4 are Jack or Joe / Ava or Sophie. I also really like Rhiannon but dh thinks I'm mad!! Maybe as a middle name 🤔 Hopefully when we know what we're having it will narrow it down and he will be more helpful!

So I have today off work because there are people doing work to the gas pipes on our street and they need access to our meter (in the house) most of the day so someone needs to be in. Quite looking forward to relaxing 🙂 Also, dh should be getting our car tonight!!

Oooo one more thing... If anyone is interested, Mothercare are doing 'expectant parents events' through August. They do talks on car seats, prams, furniture, sterilising and some baby first aid I think. We're going on Sunday, it's 2 hours and we're hoping they might have some special 'event offers' maybe?! Xxx

Bettythecat · 31/07/2019 08:09

@MrsEG hahhahaha that penis story cracked me up!! 😂 Cora and Cillian are sooo cute but lol at the weird family band 🤣. I still think you could go for it if you love those names- they are super cute together. I'm back to feeling ok again now although a bit queasy yesterday- no idea what Monday was about- such a freaky day!

@daisiesandpeonies you have whatever pain killers and whatever birth you want and feel is best for you lovely! It's definitely about what will make you feel most calm and positive going into it in my opinion- if that's alll the drugs then go for it!!

@Fivebyfive2 so pleased your appointment went well and you heard baby's heartbeat! Those are lovely names- my DH and my Grandpa are both Joe so I've got a soft spot for that name! I saw that expectant parents event advertised too actually- didn't realise they were doing events and things around it- might be worth checking out. Do you know what pram/crib you want to get?

@MrsC87 hello Charlie! What a beautiful boy! How are you feeling? Are you enjoying it or in too much of a sleepless haze at the moment?

Fivebyfive2 · 31/07/2019 08:35

@bettythecat, we actually really like the Mothercare Journey! It is so easy to push, not too tricky to fold etc. Plus it's so reasonably priced compared to some others! Seems to have really good reviews too. We just need to check the car seat fits the car...

BostonFern · 31/07/2019 09:28

Ah @Fivebyfive2 that makes sense! The maternity team are good at Heartlands. I'm doing well thanks, under several of the consultants at GH, but feel confident in what we've planned so far. I'm 23 weeks now, so not long until the 28 week growth scan.
We had the gas pipes done last summer-expect someone shouting very loudly in your house so their partner outside can hear 😂
What car have you gone for?

@purplefig Really pleased the scan went well for you.

@Bettythecat it was really obvious on our ultrasound that we are expecting a boy- the consultant even said 'there's his third leg!' 😂

@MrsR16 Hope today goes well.

@MrsC87 he's so adorable! 😍

We've had a busy week or so- pretty much finished all the decorating upstairs now! Both bedrooms are done, DP is just going to put a bit of paint around the built in wardrobe in the nursery and put a second wardrobe rail up in there. We saw the midwife at the start of the week-baby kicked her really hard when she used the Doppler 😂 He always does something at each appointment, I think he might be a handful when he arrives 😂
